Few days ago at about 7am I got a notification about an online transaction carried out using my ATM card I rushed online to check what transaction it was only to notice is was a purchase made from a Chinese Marchant. I checked my account and found my money was still intact which means myou bank was yet to authorize the transaction. I immediately called GTbank to notify them of this fraudulent transaction my card was later blocked about 4hrs later when I went to a branch of GTB. I felt everything was okay till about 9pm when I got a debit notification of that same transaction that I expected the bank to Deny since I reported early enough. Below is the reply the bank sent me today about my complaint. Dear Sir, Thank you for contacting Guaranty Trust Bank plc. We sincerely empathize with you on any inconvenience you may have experienced with the use of your Card To stop further debits, we advise that you kindly contact the Merchant directly or visit the Website to cancel the transaction,. You may however also choose to Deactivate (Hotlist) your Card and Request for a Replacement Internet Banking: I'm a bit shocked the bank is telling me to contact the merchant or visit the website to cancel the transaction. Well my concern is that I reported this transaction as fraudulent but the bank went ahead and authorized the payment. Secondly, the bold part of the message shows they are not capable of denying further fraudulent transaction from going through even if it's reported. I'm a bit worried about this bank and their so called safe token which was supposed to prevent such transaction. I've requested a new card but their response is worrisome.......any advise pls |

12inches1:This is no wrong info. CBN is actually making money from this official exchange rate. Instead of 270 bank will exchange at 196 which mean you lose about N74. They can as well decide to make it N100 to a dollar as official rate which means more suffering |
endtimesblog:You are wrong. The official exhange rate is still about N197 to a dollar which is still bad news to those exporting or receiving payments through banks. As long as you don't get physical dollar to exchange in black market this is no good news |
This are just few discoveries. Imagine Abacha's loot and the one's happening since 60's no wonder Nigeria is this backward yet they keep telling us we don't have enough money. |
phemierowl:You are not a Christian. If you are you will know what Matthew 5:44 says and in case you don't have a bible it says you should love and pray for those who hate you. |
phemierowl:This is where maturity comes into play. You can win a soul by showing a nice gesture. It's not always about hate. |
martineverest:They were heavily armed and no casualties on the side of the Army? Sometimes you have to analyse what is reported on the paper and do you think shooting at unarmed civilians was the right way to disperse them? How about using teargas? I pray you one day with in a mix with NA. |
