UKLifeIssues:
While you settle in and take in the environment, you see the hostesses moving frantically across the aisles helping people out and also closing cabin doors. You observe that your leg room is small, and you remember the folks you passed earlier on and how much leg room they had. You sigh and remind yourself to check out the cost of a first/business class ticket when you arrive the UK. You see that there is an entertainment box in front of you and notice that the folk at the extreme is fixing his seat belt. You observe and replicate his action successfully – first aircraft victory.

As you carefully scan the economy class, you try to distinguish between the economy class section and “Oyingbo” market considering the noise and exchange of pleasantries of – “ba wo ni”, “shey dada”, “Alafia” etc. You overhear loud phone conversations as people elatedly tell those behind that they have now boarded. You remember your contingents and whip out your phone. You call your bae and give her the good news. She is almost in tears, but you promise her that everything will be alright and that you will not break her heart. You actually mean it and promise to call her when you land in the UK. Next, you inform your family head (who you know will help disseminate the information to the community) and then that your trusted friend. You scroll through your contacts with nostalgia and reminisce about life briefly.

I can totally relate to all this as a first time international traveller to the UK

for those who went to the UK. How long does the medical test results take to be ready for the visa application?

The medical test required is Tb test and you get your result same day. However, you might have to book days before to get it done.

Hello all.
Received our passports today. Visa granted for my son and I.
Even though I didn't get response to my questions earlier, I'll like to give this information to help any family applying together. You all don't have to pay for flexi. I booked a normal appointment for myself and booked flexi for my son. That enabled him do walk in appointment and our applications were consolidated at the VAC. So I spent 42k instead of 84k it would have cost both of us.

Congrats. A quick question though. Is the 42k a normal cost for the appointment?
I am seeing a cost of 42k for premium lounge and I am wondering what for.

Hello everyone. I don't know if this question has been addressed before but I need a prompt answer. I am presently trying to book my appointment for biometrics and I got stuck in either to choose self service or assisted service. The Ijebu in me feels I should be able to scan documents myself( sincerely don't know how its done) than pay 11k plus. I am seeking for your experienced advice.

Please, does anyone have a reliable contact for verification in nmcn, my verification is over 2 months now and yet it hasnt been sent. Please its urgent PM me if you do , thanks

Sincerely, dont bother looking for any nmcn contact now o. They will just chop your money. The issue is with Nmcn itself. So just be patient. Same thing i complained of few weeks ago and still yet to b resolved despite the "contact".

Care Home/Hospital choice is entirely up to yourself. It depends on what you want. Some people will say there are coming to the UK for experience hence they go to hospitals while others will say the are after the money, then opt for care homes.
Generally speaking, working conditions in hospitals are more favorable.
So, I am putting it to you- what's your choice?

Thanks for this. I actually requested for NHS jobs but they seem not to have that available now. So do u think i should try another recruitment agency?

Hi all. Please the recruitment agency i contacted is trying to offer me options in care homes, claiming NHS isn't giving them slots for now. Do you think i should try another agency or i should go along with the care home offer?

There are some other centres where you can book the cbt exam in Lagos. During your booking process a list of centres close to your address will appear so you could make a choice. But one funny thing is that there exam fee differs, that's if you want them to assist you with the payment.

Thanks. I might have to call them. The surulere center is far for me and the time option is too early

Hello house,

I've followed this thread from the beginning and I was earnestly hoping that someday I too will be able to share my experience of living in the UK.
And finally I got the break I was hoping for, got to UK late last year on a tier 2 visa.

I'm in Salisbury  ( Wiltshire ), it's a small but lovely town, there are few blacks here from different African countries cos by their accent you shall know them cheesy and some few Nigerians.

My flight down here was amazing, had a stop over at Dubai airport then finally Heathrow the next morning plus i got a window sit.

I had just one luggage which weighed 22kg plus one hand luggage, no food stuffs cos I like travelling light. Just my clothes plus winter kit .Was really prepared for that and was disappointed when I got to London and there was no snow cheesy ( don't yab me please grin )

My employer arranged an airport pick up for me plus accommodation so it was easy getting to my accomodation and they already got me a giffgaff sim card which only gave me unlimited phone calls and sms to UK numbers plus 3g data.

I've been able to get around town, got my BRP, opened an account with HSBC, registered with a gp and all

Found an asian store, the only one in Salisbury. They have basically everything from indomie to garri to yam, palm oil, egusi, semo even wooden mortar.

I generally do my shopping at tesco and pounland for groceries and charity shops for shoes and clothes in the mean time. I hope to upgrade when my account gets bigger wink. Plus I found the brioche bread at tesco kiss, I finally felt like I was eating bread after a long time, not all those tasteless oyinbo bread.

I've really learnt a lot from this thread and I'm happy to be here finally.
Just want to say thank you to all the people that added useful information to this thread and kept it going

P.S
I made my own UK survival guide from all the information I got here.

Congrats. My testimony is coming soon

Sent. In my opinion, reading that textbook is a waste of time. I'm not saying it's not relevant o, it is better put to use as a reference material. You can study for cbt using less complex materials unfortunately i can only send these materials via what'sapp because I didn't download the files.
