Indications about what was discussed behind closed doors yesterday when former Nigerian President, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and President Muhammadu Buhari has emerged.

It was the second of such visits to Aso Rock by the immediate past President to his successor since May 29, 2015 when the new administration was ushered in. The latest visit comes few days after ex-President Goodluck Jonathan arrived Nigeria aboard a Presidential jet from Tanzania where he led the team of international election observers.

However, details of both visits were not officially made public.

Buhari and Jonathan met behind closed doors for about five minutes as the former President arrived the Villa at 2:00pm and left at about 2:10pm.

ExpressNG sources reliably confirmed that the ex-President is working behind the scenes with the present administration to recover funds looted during his tenure.

According to the source, the visit of the President is connected with activities of anti-corruption campaign led by President Buhari. Although specific details of the meeting were not made known however, it was learnt that there is a confidentiality understanding between the two Nigerian leaders.

Explaining further, the source drew attention to a statement credited to President Jonathan shortly after his first visit to Aso Rock where he declared that he was betrayed by people whom he trusted.

It was learnt the former President was disappointed when he was confronted with a big dossier detailing all the loots perpetrated under his tenure by some of his key persons.

Curiously, ex-President Jonathan has maintained a studied silence inspite of the heavy allegations of corruption levied against key members of his administration.

Popular juju musician, Yinka Ayefele’s performance was rudely disrupted when some youths suspected to be thugs unleashed terror in Ijare town, Ifedore Local Government Area of Ondo State, disrupting his performance.

Eze was one of the many guests invited to the birthday party of actress Ingrid Alabi in Accra. This is more than your domestic needs; feminism is a push behind the girl child, a motivation to strive and not be made to feel inadequate for denying traditions and certain social stereotypes that try to place boundaries for girls.

This reduces Annie to an appendage of sort. That she was born for this purpose- to be wife to Tuface. The writer made no attempt to research on Feminism. It pleased him to wrap a movement around a woman that is happy being who she is as much as the next woman is- who strives for her own happiness. Yes, Annie might be happy with life, but so is the next woman- a Feminist, probably teaching Yoruba in America, and enjoying an academic pursuit with a scholarship.

The ‘good wife’ is the only narrative we have in Africa. Now, we want to promote other stories: the brilliant female engineer, the incorrigible female politician, the remarkable hotelier, the exceptional lawyer. That is the new narrative, while at the background they can decide to own a nuclear family or not.

As tiring as it may seem to bandy words with this fellow, it is necessary. Let us curtail stupidity.

It is unacceptable for us to continue to allow society make one gulp of opinion on women. Let our young girls grow up without the need to fit in, let them find their own purpose, and let it be enough.

Surely, there’s got to be a way to talk about Hollywood, for instance, without drawing comparison between Pamela Anderson’s breasts and Viola Davies’ talent.

An ugly scene almost marred the closing gala ceremony of the MTN Project Fame Season 8, ExpressNG has learnt.

A man identified as the father of crowd favourite, Funmilayo Comfort Arewa went berserk after another contestant (Jeff Akoh) was announced as winner of the competition instead of his daughter, Arewa. The ceremony took place inside Ultima Studios in Lekki Phase area of Lagos.

For her final performance, Arewa as she is popularly known did a collaboration with 9ice to sing Gongo Aso. The 24 year old is a Lagos State University alumnus.

To the consternation of many, Arewa’s name did not come as the names of the the first to third runners-up was announced by show host Joseph Benjamin. The momentum of events had reached a climax. Emotions were very high as a section of the audience expected the talented female singer to be named but that honour went to someone else.

An insider confirmed that this part is not likely to make it into the final cut that will be seen by Nigerian TV viewers on Sunday evening.

The report, which was titled, “What’s going on here with Peter PSquare and a fan?” shows the picture of the singer and a fan in a deep lip-lock.

ExpressNG observed that less than 10 minutes after, the blogger quickly yanked off the update from her website without any explanation. In its space now lies a comment that reads, “Sorry, the page you were looking for in this blog does not exist.”

Widely-acclaimed King of Nigerian comedy, Ali Baba revealed how he earned his first N1.6 million cheque as far back as 1995 from Satzenbrau, a beer brand that was brewed in Nigeria by guiness Nigeria Limited.

According to him, the late iconic Afrobeat maestro, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti earned a lower sum of N500,000 while the likes of veteran Raggae singer, Ras Kimono was paid just N150,000.

The stand-up comedy legend made the surprise revelation during a mentoring session with young artistes tagged Stage1Project Bootcamp organized by Nuffnoiz Entertainment. He cited the experience to explain why he should have been proud and arrogant but rather chose to remain humble.

“Let me give you one instance that couldhave made me ‘proud and arrogant,” he began and added, “In 1995, I got N1.6 million as my first cheque while Fela was paid N500,000 then, by the time I got that money everybody around me was earning far less than I do. Ras Kimono earned N150,000 while the biggest musicians at the time were paid around N300,000.”

Expressing his displeasure on Echo Stage Facebook fanpage, Jack Nelson said, “ P Sq came on at 1:15am for a show that was TICKETED at 9pm — the staff says the echostage benefit is that they’re open til 4am (I’m sure no one is left there now). “I have not been to church in eight years and this is the first time I am saying this,” came the shocking admission from Chocolate City Rapper, Jesse Garba Abaga.

Ironically, the 31 year-old was raised in the city of Jos, Plateau State by clergy parents, Pastor Chris G. Abaga, Founder, Chris Abaga Ministries and Mrs Lydia Abaga, a gospel artiste and counselor.

He waxed philosophical about his decision to stay away from Church; “Well, I think it is because I believe that education doesn’t only exist within the boundary of school, education is a separate thing on its own. Same way, God does not just exist only in religious institutions, He exist on His own.”

In a chat on Wednesday at Chocolate City office, Jesse explained further, “Growing up in church and all that…I have come to realize that a relationship with God is what is most important. Church might/ can be defined in so many other ways but as long as God and you is okay…whether you are a Buddhist or whatever. Yeah, I believe God exist but it is we human beings that take religion thing.”

This confession should not come as a surprise to those who have keenly followed the career trajectory of the founder of the indie label, Jagz Nation whom some have described as a ‘rebel.’ The 31 year-old woke one morning and exited from Chocolate City, a record label that was co-run by his brother, M.I Abaga. Baring any unforeseen changes, Chocolate City Rapper, M.I Abaga may release his next studio album on Jay Z’s Tidal.

But he may not be the first Nigerian to do so; that goes to ex-Storm Records act, Naeto C who released his third album entitled Day 1 on the same platform some weeks ago.

In an exclusive Chat with ExpressNG at Chocolate City corporate head office, he hinted that talks have already begun with Tidal executives. A date has not been fixed for the release of the project, which will be the artiste’s fourth studio album.

Barely 24 hours after her Lagos gig, soul music legend, Lauryn Hill paid a courtesy call on the late Fela Anikulapo-Kuti’s Afrobeat hotspot, the New African Shrine located at Agidingbi area, Lagos, Nigeria, West Africa.

She was in company of her eight year old daughter, Sarah Marley and other members of her band.

Her visit comes few days after legendary singer, Bono of U2 band made a similar visit to the Afrobeat hub. Nicki Minaj and Taylor Swift put their Twitter feud to rest with a red hot opening performance at the MTV VMAs.

The stars, who engaged in a social media scuffle over the event a few months ago, put on quite a show for the crowd in LA on Sunday night.
