A 23 year old Lebanese, Yves Awad has been nabbed while trying to sneak out 260 grammes of cocaine at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos.

NDLEA commander at the Lagos Airport, Mr Hamza Umar said the case is being investigated. “A 23 year old Lebanese has been apprehended with 260 grammes of cocaine. The drug was hidden inside his boxer shorts. I am happy that FAAN assisted us in making this arrest. When the drug was field tested, it proved positive for cocaine. The suspect holds a dual citizenship of Nigeria and Lebanon. He was found to have traveled to Nigeria from Lebanon six times since January 2015. The case is under investigation” Hamza stated.

The Chairman/Chief Executive of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Ahmadu Giade commended the management of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) over the arrest of a Lebanese at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA) Lagos. The intelligence that led to the arrest of the suspect, Yves Awad last weekend was supplied by FAAN to the NDLEA. A physically-challenged Abdulazez Kucha has vowed to crawl from Gumel Local Government Area of Jigawa State to Abuja to beg President Muhammadu Buhari to reduce the price of Premium Motor Spirit, otherwise know as petrol to N40.

Kucha, 32, said his decision to embark on the journey was borne out of the love he has for his fatherland, ExpressNG has learnt.

Lately, an associate of the new president, Tam David West said Buhari may reduce the price of fuel to N40 per litre.

Reacting to the development, Kucha, who said he lost his two legs after a ghastly road mishap along Otukpo-Enugu Road, said he believes the new government would effect the change it promised during its campaign.

“I was supposed to embark on this journey before now but I took ill. Now I am fit and ready to go. I will be going all the way to Abuja to tell the new president to bring the price of fuel to N40.”

Ex-militant leader of the Movement for the Emancipation of Niger Delta (MEND), Mr. Government Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo, received N1.5 billion monthly for ex-President Goodluck Jonathan to protect the nation’s maritime areas.

Pioneer chairman of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr Ahmed Tijani Ramalan, made the shocking revelation to Leadership Newspaper.

Making further clarification on how long the payment has been going on, Ramalan said it started “sometime after 2011 when Jonathan won his election and since then the payment has been on.

Ironically, Dr Ramalan lamented that despite such gesture, the country still loses over 400,000 barrels of crude oil daily from the nation’s shores.

He therefore called on President Muhammadu Buhari to cancel the contract given to the ex-militant by the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan.

He said, “Over 400, 000 barrels of crude oil are being stolen daily from our shores under President Jonathan; yet we had a government that has the Navy, the Army and the Air Force, and the government of Jonathan decides to hand over the security of our maritime waters to Tompolo at a very exorbitant amount of money.

“And these same people that are given the job of our maritime security are the ones that are collaborating with the international shipping companies to steal our oil.”

“And if Buhari does not do so, we will be the first to start attacking him. There is no basis to give that kind of billion naira job to ex-militants,” he declared.

“I was the pioneer chairman of NIMASA, and NIMASA is the one funding the contract given to Tompolo. This is a guy that is collecting about N1.5bn every month and yet our Armed Forces are not well funded. So, we call on the president to discard such contract.”

Less than 24 hours after resuming work, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State, on Tuesday visited the scene of the fire disaster caused by an exploded fuel tanker.



The fully loaded fuel tanker burst into flames, leading to the damage of property and vehicles worth millions.



Addressing residents, Ambode said “Around 1 a.m, a tanker loaded with 33,000 litres of petrol fell from the Ipaja bridge and spilled all its contents covering almost five streets here.



In the last four hours, all our emergency agencies have been effectively on the ground and we have been able to manage and control consequences of what 33,000 litres of petrol would have done to this neighbourhood.
Thank God, there has not been any loss of lives, but again, there are victims whose shops were destroyed.

A new world record for the fastest growing twitt account of all time has been broken by Caitlyn Jenner, formerly known as Bruce Jenner. She reached 1 million followers in four hours and three minutes some few minutes less than Barack Obama.

Obama set the previous record in May with his new account.

Jenner sent her first Tweet Monday morning at 9:17 a.m. PST — a bombshell reveal of her Vanity Fair cover, which contained her new name as well as her first photo following her transition — and reached 1 million followers at approximately 1:20 p.m. PST.

Luck ran out for a kidnapper suspect, Uzoma Ugwumadu when he disguise as a woman to allegedly kidnap some primary school pupils from Osusu Amukwa Community Primary School in Aba.

The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Joshak Habila, who paraded the suspect along other criminals at the Police Officers Mess, Umuahia, said other members of the syndicate were still at large.

Habila said the suspect had disguised himself as a lady wearing blouse and a breast-like foam and led four school children away when he was intercepted by members of the village vigilance group.

The state police boss said other members of the syndicate, who were in a waiting bus with strange registration number, parked along New Umuahia Road Aba, zoomed off in their vehicle immediately the vigilance group and teachers raised the alarm.

Habila added that efforts were ongoing to arrest the fleeing bandits.

However, the suspect in an interview denied the allegations, claiming that he was only trying to assist the pupils when he was arrested.

Ugwumadu explained that his enemies, who were jealous of his progress, were behind his ordeals, expressing confidence that God would fight his cause.

Liverpool FC have announced the extension Kolo Toure contract for another year after turning down more lucrative offers from clubs abroad.

The 34-year-old, deal at Anfield was due to expire at the end of next month but this extension could see him finish his career in England.

Toure has spent the last two seasons under Brendan Rodgers after leaving Manchester City on a free transfer in the summer of 2013.

According to Liverpool’s official website,

“Liverpool FC are pleased to announce Kolo Toure has signed an extension to his contract with the club.

The centre-back will remain with the Reds after putting pen to paper on the new deal.”

A car theft suspect identified as Alhaji Ramon Adeleke has been arrested by Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS.

The 55 year old father of four was caught alongside his friend, Lukmon Shoyoye on closed-circuit television, CCTV, footage stealing a Toyota Corolla parked in a hotel located around Allen Avenue.

Justifying his crime, Adeleke disclosed that the N400,000 money realized from the theft was used to help his ailing friend. “I gave the money to my friend, Chief Kola, who had kidney problem because he was very sick,” he confessed.

Chelsea Football Club duo of Jose Mourinho and Eden Hazard round of the season with a double award swoop as Barclays Manager and Player of the Year award, respectively.

Mourinho, 52, has now been named as the best manager in the PL for three of his five seasons in England’s top-flight, while Hazard, 24, has picked up the award for the first-time to add to his PFA Player of the Year and Football Writers Player of the Year awards he has won over the past few weeks.

In a remarkable season for the west London club, Mourinho led his team to the PL title with four games of the 2014-15 campaign remaining and also added a League Cup title to take his total trophies won with the Blues to eight in five seasons. Chelsea have lost just three times during the season and will hit the 87-point mark if they beat Sunderland at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

Mourinho’s masterminded Chelsea’s first PL title since 2010 in the second season of his second spell in charge of the Blues, while Hazard has been influential as the Belgian trickster has scored 19 goals, added 10 assists and has terrorized PL defenses all season.

Hazard beat seven other nominees in David De Gea, Alexis Sanchez, Harry Kane, Sergio Aguero and Chelsea teammates John Terry, Cesc Fabregas and Nemanja Matic to the award, while Mourinho finished ahead of Ronald Koeman, Arsene Wenger, Garry Monk and Nigel Pearson.

The Super Falcons of Nigeria have arrived in Canada ahead of the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

The squad jetted out of Abuja on Wednesday night aboard an Air France airline and landed in Paris around 5:45am local time after a five and half hour trip.

According to theNFF website, the team stayed at the Charles De Gaulle airport during their transit connecting their flight to Toronto.

The team was received by Nigeria Deputy High Commissioner Charles N. Onianwa on their touch down at the Toronto Pearson International airport.

Onianwa advised the girls to put in their best at the World Cup.

“I must first and foremost welcome you to Canada because the tournament we are all looking forward to is a very important one.

Last year, the Falconets did us proud here and now we have the Super Falcons, so expectations are high and we have no doubt that you are going to clinch the cup” said Onianwa.
