Second wave of COVID-19 is in the air.. Let's stay safe, more importantly for the sake of our aged parents.. |
Yes, many Nigerians survive heart attacks (Myocardial infarction) and stroke either ischemic or hemorrhagic. However, survival of the stroke depends on many factors such as presence of other co-morbidities, age of the patients, complications of the stroke, types of the stroke, available of expert in stroke care and the time of presentation at the hospital. For heart attacks, it seems more fatal than stroke, centers that can offer thrombolysis, percutaneous cardiac interventions are less than 20 in Nigeria and majority of them are located in Abuja, Lagos and PH. It's sorry case for people in other state. Furthermore, cardioversion devices are strange to most of our health facilities. Overall, survival is poor in most 3rd world countries like Nigeria when it's compared to industrialized nations. Sadly, most of the best minds we have in Medicine have either emigrated or on the verge of leaving the country. The impacts of the brain drain ravaging our beloved nation may not be felt today but surely, tomorrow. |
I survived a fatal motor vehicle accident on Lagos - Ibadan express road when one of the back tyres of the SUV I was driving in bursted. The tumbled twice into a nearby gully. I was the 3rd occupant of the vehicle, incidentally we just passed our professional exams in Abuja a day before. We were returning back to Ibadan, to rejoice and celebrate with our family members and colleagues at work. That was when I realized that it's only a thin line that separate live from death, indeed no one is promised of tomorrow. |
Club Brugge player Emmanuel Dennis will miss the game against Dortmund tonight... because he wasn't able to sit where he wanted on the team bus which led to him storming off and having a fight with some of his teammates. This tweet isn't a joke by the way. https:///euzPcPGzYF @FutbolBible... |
