A drunk policeman had his gun seized by unknown persons today at Abuja . Though it is believed his gun was taken to avoid him mistakenly shooting his gun indiscriminately, as of recording the video, no one knows who exactly took the gun.

It is believed he had gone drinking with his college us, but he took a little too much alcohol and became drunk.

In the video, we can see people pouring cold water on him with the aim of clearing the effects the alcohol has over him. They were however disappointed that an officer will get drunk while on uniform despite it still being 4pm.

This happened at CBN junction near police headquarters in Abuja. The officers name is Garba Salisu.

Uproar in Senate over 1% VAT compensation for states affected by ENDSARS violence

Ethnic sentiments and interests dominated the debate on compensation for states affected by the violence that erupted during the EndSARS protests at the Senate on Tuesday.

Senator Biodun Olujimi (Ekiti South) had brought a motion under urgent matter of national importance on the need for the Federal Government to assist the Lagos State Government in rebuilding its infrastructure.

In a similar motion, Senator Gershom Bassey (Cross River South), called on the National Assembly to compensate Cross River based on the level of destruction that took place in Calabar, the state capital.

Olujimi noted that on October 20, several media accounts revealed that peaceful protesters were allegedly shot at by the Nigerian military at the Lekki toll gate.

She lamented that private and public property worth over N1 trillion were looted and destroyed when hoodlums hijacked the peaceful EndSARS protests in Lagos, as the epicenter of the protests.

After moving their motions, Senator Sani Musa (Niger East) insisted that the compensation should be extended to states in the North suffering from banditry and Boko Haram crises.

“Any intervention by the government should be holistic and not restricted to Lagos State or Calabar,” he said.

But opposing the motion, Senator Abdullahi Adamu (Nasarawa West) said the Senate should not consider the motion because it would be subjudice to the panels and tribunals set up by various states.

He said, “Let us wait for the outcome of these judicial panels. I will therefore appeal that we wait for the decisions of the panels. If the outcome is not acceptable by a lot of Nigerians, then we will come here and take a position as legislators.”

However, Senator Ike Ekweremadu (Enugu West) noted that the nation had not done enough to protest the interest of the youth.

Ekweremadu said that the Federal Government must do more to create jobs for the youth in order to prevent a repeat of the EndSARS protests.

Stating that security agencies were overstretched, the former Deputy Senate President said it was time to decentralise the Police and employ more youth into the service.

He said, “This calls to mind the need for state police to enable states properly handle security situations in their domains.

“Some of the youths who were engaged in the EndSARS protests could have been readily absorbed by state police structures in the affected areas.

Senator Mathew Urhoghide (Edo South) while lamenting the tension that pervaded the atmosphere during the violence, said about 2000 inmates were set free by the hoodlums that hijacked the protest.

Among them, he said, were 200 inmates on death row.

He added, “Arms and ammunition were looted with no recovery made. The government should take proactive steps to employ the youth.”

Senator Christopher Ekpenyong, in his contribution, noted that politicians, especially, the executive and the legislators were fond of using the youth during electioneering and abandon them after the election.

The Senate, in its resolution, called on the federal government to set aside one percent of Value Added Tax (VAT) as compensation for states affected by the violence that trailed the EndSARS protests.

It also asked the government to set up a visitation panel to visit and evaluate the extent of damages in the affected states.

The upper chamber added that its committee on state and local government affairs should monitor compliance by the panel.

In his remarks, the Senate President said there was a need to do more for better economic conditions for youth employment.

He also said that the Senate needed to give security agencies the needed support for proper policing, adding that National Assembly was working on the same page to address the problems.

He added, “But it is also important to support our institutions to function well. We need to give the Police and all other security agencies the support they need to ensure that they provide security.

“The various federal government programmes need to be tailored towards ensuring that employment opportunities are generated.”

Senate President Ahmad Lawan has explained why the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) will continue to harvest defectors from the opposition parties.

Lawan said people were beginning to appreciate the fact the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari had done so much with so little resources.

Lawan spoke in Abuja when he led Senator Ishaku Elisha Abbo and fellow defector from Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Adamawa to the National Secretariat of the All Progressives Congress, according to a statement by his Special Adviser (Media) Ola Awoniyi in Abuja.

Yobe Governor, Mai Mala Buni, who is chairman of the Caretaker/Extra Ordinary Convention Planning Committee, led his team to receive the new defectors.

The Senate President said the more people in opposition appreciated the giant strides of the Buhari government, the more the harvest of defectors into the ruling APC.

“We believe that we haven’t seen anything yet. We will see more coming from the opposition parties.

“Only last week, the Governor of Ebonyi State left PDP for the APC. Yesterday (Wednesday), the youngest Senator in the current dispensation, having consulted very widely, deeply with his people at home decided to leave PDP for APC.

“This is what we expect from leaders. When you see a government trying hard with so little to ensure development in our country, in our communities, and society, the best thing to do is to be part of that effort. That is patriotism.

“We came in 2015. We inherited everything but poor governance. But thank God, the President came with determination and focus to ensure that this country works for citizens of this country.

“That government resources are prudently and efficiently and economically applied for the benefit of the people.

“Though we inherited empty treasury, the price of crude went down so badly, yet the little resources we started with provided a lot more of infrastructure, of services to the people of these country.

“So any right thinking politician, when you see prudence, when you see integrity and sincerity, when you see purposefulness in leadership, the best thing for you to do is not to be left alone.

‘’It’s for you to join forces with such leadership for the benefit of people you represent or lead.’’

Lawan, who is also the leader of the APC caucus in the Northeast geo-political zone, said the party would ensure it captures Adamawa and other states in the zone controlled by the opposition by 2023.

THE Senate has begun moves to ensure that all the Nigerian Law Schools are beneficiaries of Education tax funds with the amendment of Tertiary Education Trust Fund Act 2007.

Consequently, the Senate has come up with ” A bill for an Act to amend the Tertiary Education Trust Fund Act 2007.”

The Bill Scaled second reading yesterday in the Senate.

In his lead debate on the bill, Senator Micheal Opeyemi Bamidele, APC Ekiti Central, sponsor of said that the bill which was read for the first time on the floor of the Senate on Thursday, 28th May, 2020, seeks to amend sections 4, 7 and 20 of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (Establishment, Etc.) Act, 2011 (hereinafter referred to as the “principal Act”)

He said that amendment also seeks to add the Nigerian Law School, as one of the benefiting tertiary institutions in Nigeria, for the purpose of disbursement of education tax, under the Act.

According to him, the Bill seeks specifically to amend section 4 of the principal Act by inserting “the Nigerian Law School”, as one of the Tertiary Institutions, to benefit from the interventions of the TETFUND.

Senator Bamidele said, “Mr President, Distinguished Colleagues; by way of a proper context and historical basis for the proposed amendment, it is imperative to state here that the Report of the Unsworth Committee on Legal Education, which recommended the establishment of an indigenous law school for the vocational training of aspiring legal practitioners in Nigeria, conceived the Nigerian Law School, as a tertiary institution with the sole mandate of bridging the gap between academic study of law in Nigerian or foreign universities, and the practical application of the law.

“Based on this, it therefore becomes incumbent on the Nigerian Law School to ensure that students adapt their academic knowledge to the conditions of practice by introducing them to the practical skills and techniques of legal practice.

“There is no gainsaying that the Nigerian Law School is the only institution responsible for vocational training of lawyers in Nigeria. Undoubtedly, it is saddled with a critical statutory responsibility bearing in mind that lawyers play leading roles in the socio-economic condition of the country.

” Perhaps, Lawyers, as judges, in private or corporate practice, in the academics or in government, immensely shape the society and the lives of their fellow human beings. It should be emphasised that over five decades, since the establishment of the Nigerian Law School, the Institution which commenced operation in January 1963 with only 8 Students at its mono-campus in Lagos, has since expanded rapidly into a multi-campus Law School, with its headquarters now in Bwari, Abuja and Five (5) other campuses in Lagos, Enugu Kano, Bayelsa, and Yola.

“Mr President, Distinguished Colleagues; the expansion of the Nigeria Law School from its former mono-campus system to the present multi-campus law school, was necessitated by the increasing demand for space at the school.

“This inevitable expansion, of course, has its attendant challenges such as increasing demand for befitting learning facilities including lecture halls, E- Library and ICT deployment in the multiple –campuses to enhance learning, provision of hostel accommodation and other infrastructural facilities suitable for effective training of globally competitive lawyers in Nigeria.

Indeed, the training of the 21st century lawyer is becoming more and more expensive hence the need for this Distinguished Senate to consider the inclusion of the Nigerian Law school, as one of the tertiary institutions to benefit from the infrastructural intervention projects of TETFUND, which is the main thrust of this.

A woman has been caught in cctv stealing human hair from a hair shop in Abuja. The lady in question used the current COVID-19 pandemic as an excuse to wear face mask and sun shades with he aim to hide her identity.

Posing as a potential customer, the lady distracted the sales girl several times and while she wasn't looking, stope items from the shop.

According to the owner of the shop who was heard at the background while watching the cctv clip, the hair alone costs more than two hundred thousand naira ($500).

Those watching the clip also said that the lady looks like someone who had robbed another hair shop earlier.

The sales girl was then scolded for not noticing the actions of the woman who stole the hair. She was warned to always be vigilant henceforth and should be able to identify when something has been stolen from the shop.

The owner of the shop later took to her Facebook account to seek for help in finding the thief with a promise of some rewards, which you can find below.

Senator Istifanus Gyang (Plateau North) has blamed herdsmen for what he described as “serious killings and targeted assassinations” of traditional rulers in the state.

Gyang, who came under order 43 of the Senate Standing Rules during plenary, said 10 traditional rulers have been assasinated mostly from his senatorial district.

He said the development called for urgent and adequate security to be built around traditional rulers.

He called on the Senate to urge the Inspector General Police to direct Plateau Commissioner of Police to beef up security around monarchs in their palaces to stem the bloodletting.

Senate President, Ahmad Lawan condoled with the government and people of Plateau state over the sad occurrences.

He urged security agencies in the state to provide security for all citizens, especially the traditional rulers to ensure their protection.

He said that the ugly situations in Plateau State make it imperative for all stakeholders to support President Muhammadu Buhari to find lasting solution to the insecurity challenge.

Lagos state Govt has failed in tackling the drainage problem in the state and this not only date back to the previous government, but as far back as the military era.

When ever the sky weeps it’s always hell in Lagos as almost the entire state will be flooded. Tinubu in 8 years did ‘so much’ with nothing to show for it. Fashola the action Gov for 4 years did ‘so much’ with little to show in terms of tackling the menace of drainage challenges.

One of the worst things Tinubu did in his quest for money from Lagos oil (i.e Lagos Land) was to allow Land reclamation at the Osborne phase 11 area of Ilubirin in Ikoyi, which have worsened the problems already on ground for we residents of Ikoyi.

The drainage is supposed to be channeled to the source which is now being reclaimed by the government making things worse off

We face hell when ever it rains. This includes Dolphin estate Victoria Island, Lekki, Ikoyi, Lagos Island, Ijora, Ikorodu, Lagos Badagry etc,

Todays rain is even the worst kind of experience. Properties worth millions are being destroyed before the eyes of the owners that can do nothing.

The police on Friday paraded 17 school principals and teachers for alleged involvement in examination malpractices.

They were said to have leaked the questions to students during the August/September West African Examination Council examinations across the country.

The Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Frank Mba, who paraded the suspects at the Force Headquarters in Abuja on Friday, said the examination body is collaborating with the Nigeria Police Force to strengthen the integrity of its examination processes.


He said, “It is in line with this new approach and partnership that we present to you today (Friday), a total of 17 suspects arrested from different parts of the country.

“Paradoxically, the bulk of these suspects who are aiding the perpetration of the fraud and exam malpractices all happen to be persons who were employed, trained and paid to promote the educational system. I am talking of teachers. All of them are teachers.

“They are the ones that work as supervisors, invigilators or as the host teachers in the schools the exams are conducted.”


He cautioned members of the public, including parents, guardians, teachers and candidates to stop engaging in exam malpractices, noting that the force has developed robust technologies that can detect, trace and apprehend perpetrators of exam malpractices.

“All these suspects would be arraigned before competent courts of law in the country. As I speak to you, some of them have already been charged to court,” Mba said.

Mrs Omolemi Hassan, who represented the Head of National Office, WAEC Nigeria and Registrar to Council, appreciated the police for their collaboration.

She stated, “During the exams, many people were talking about leakage and so on. There was no leakage at all.

“It was just a situation where those we trusted with our question papers, those who were nominated by Ministries of Education in different states were the ones after we gave them questions papers may be at 9am for an exam of 9.30am, they stopped to take pictures and put on websites and WhatsApp groups. They are indeed the ones who have tried to scuttle our efforts.”

One of the suspects, who is the principal of a private secondary school in Rivers State, Hanson Beloved said he did not do it for monetary gain.

He explained that was only trying to “help students in my school pass the examinations because the coronavirus (pandemic) has kept them home all this while and they have not been able to study.”this has led to the clamour by the forum for the return of the country to the parliamentary system of government.

"Avenge my son's death" Father of up-and-coming singer killed by the police in PH cries as he calls for justice

The father of 20-year-old singer Daniel Chibuike Ikeaguchi, popularly known as Sleek, who was shot dead by the police in Elelenwo, Port Harcourt, River State, shed tears while calling for justice for his late son.

The bereaved father mentioned that he lived in the Northern part of Nigeria for years and didn't lose a finger, only to lose his son when he returned to the South.

He called on God to avenge his son's death.

Sleek was allegedly shot dead on Saturday, September 19, 2020, by a mobile police officer attached to De Topic supermarket, while he was being chased by SARS operatives.

Four policemen have been arrested in connection to the killing.

Ibadan — The Odua People's Congress (OPC), hunters, and vigilante group in Orelope, Olorunsogo, and Irepo Local Government Areas of Oyo State under the umbrella of joint security initiative during the weekend combed a reserve forest in the Oke Ogun area of Oyo state and arrested five people.

The state Public Relations Officer, Olugbemiga Fadeyi, who confirmed the arrest to Daily Trust in Ibadan on Sunday said it was a joint security effort of men of Nigeria Police force and the local hunters and OPC that led to the combing of the forest and the arrest of the five people.

The Aare Onakakanfo of Yoruba land, Iba Gani Adams had last week raised alarm on the invasion of strange terrorists in Oke-Ogun of Oyo State.

The joint security initiative in a statement by the Information Officer, Olorunsogo Local Government Area, Ayankunle Emmanuel Ayankolade, said the strategic combing of the old Oyo government reserve by local security agencies including vigilante corps was successful.

The statement reads in part, "Rising from a joint security meeting held in the office of the Area Commander of the Nigerian Police, Igbeti Area Command, in Igbeti, the Headquarters of Olorunsogo Local Government, it was observed that the bombardment and strategic combing of the Old Oyo Forest Reserve by security agents and the local vigilante was successful as five suspects were arrested alongside another one caught with human parts in his possession, as the onslaught continues."

Commending the State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde for his prompt intervention in addressing security challenges in the affected areas, the statement noted the role of traditional rulers and their steadfastness, and further gave kudos to Local Government vigilante groups, OPC, Vigilante Group of Miyetti Allah, ASAKAYE GROUP as well as local hunters, among others.

NIDCOM denies reports claiming staff of the Nigerian embassy in Switzerland called the police on Nigerian citizens

The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission. has denied claims made in a viral video that staff of the Nigerian Embassy in Switzerland called the police to arrest Nigerian citizens.



Recall that on Tuesday September 22, a video surfaced online in which a Nigerian man claimed the embassy staff sent in police officers to arrest them when they visited the embassy for some documentation. Some of the Nigerians who were heard shouting on top of their voices, alleged that they had already made payments for their passports to be renewed but the embassy failed to fulfill the service they paid for.



Reacting to the video, the Head of Media at NIDCOM, Abdulrahman Balogun, denied claims.



In a statement released on Wednesday September 23, Balogun said the Nigerians came into the facility and when they started behaving unruly and ignoring the COVID-19 protocols of having only 10 persons in a room, the Embassy's protection unit were invited to restore order. He denied claims that police officers were invited to arrest the Nigerians

In view of the above video it is imperative to state the facts.

In line with Covid-19 protocols, the Embassy in Bern. Switzerland is only allowed to attend to 10 applicants, however, the Mission made it possible to attend to a maximum of 20 daily, spacing out the appointments. But on this day, 64 Nigerians besieged the Nigerian mission in Bern. Only 10 of them were on scheduled appointment.

54 of them had no appointment for that day and had not made the mandatory online payment and majority of the applicants came from Italy and Spain .With no appointment with no online payment.

While the Nigerian Amb. Baba Madagu was addressing them, they barged in through the front door and overcrowded a hall that was meant to receive only 10 people at a time.

The mission did not call the Police as erroneously stated in the video but invited the Embassy Protection Unit to bring calm and decorum back to the hall. The men of the Embassy protection unit addressed them and those on appointment as well as those who had made their online payments were attended to while others were advised to follow the due process, with an assurance that everyone will be attended to as long as the rules were followed.

We appeal to Nigerians abroad to be good ambassadors of Nigeria wherever they are and obey laws put in place.
