If the CBN had released all the money into the system, the aim will be defeated. I think they should've made a policy from day one to disallow banks from exchanging funds over 10M or so. That would've eased pressure at the commercial banks

The money that banks had, they were prioritizing their big customers (mostly the politicians obviously) which put the ordinary Nigerians at a disadvantage

I think the major problem is the communication from the financial institutions. The CBN released money that was supposed to be enough based on the average daily withdrawals and deposits, but politicians have billions of old naira which is causing pressure on the system.

The CBN should make a policy instructing that funds above N10 million naira or so should be exchanged directly at the CBN, to ease the pressure on commercial banks. Something like that.

The cash scarcity will remain till the 10th. That's the intention. After that, the pressure at the banks for exchange of currencies will reduce, and the problem ends. Politicians can no longer come to banks to exchange old currency, their businesses will be at the CBN

It's on Thursday the CBN started releasing large sums , before then they where giving each bank 30 million naira daily while the banks need about 3bn daily to effect the replacement smoothly

Buhari is trying to make it seem the banks are the one hoarding the money while in essence the problem is from the CBN who didn't print enough Currency to match the rate of replacement at the moment...This 200 million you see there is not even enough for one branch in Lagos for one day...this careless act of busting banks will lead to a bank run and it will negatively affect the economy further more

You people should stop allowing Buhari pitch you against the banks ..every bank has cash ratios to meet daily or they become distressed..What Buhari is doing is trying to force banks into a bank run which will spell doom for the entire banking industry if care is not taken...the right thing to do at this point is

1: Either cancel the entire cash swap thing .

2 or allow both new and old currency exist together while we phase out the old currency in batches ties around denomination
