Should those earning 18k continue to earn same while your legislooters continue in their 18M salary and both are patronizing the same market. My solution is simple ! The govt must find other alternatives that would immediately improve the current purchasing power of the current minimum wage ..In 2014 30k minimum wage could buy my security man 3 big bags of rice and he will will have change , it could get him a return ticket on a local airline but today it can't even get him any ...so here are my suggestion to improve PP quickly

1: Immediately return all tax rates to the pre 2015 rates: this will immediately improve purchasing power by 30 points minimum.

2: Reduce VAT back to 5%

3: Engineer smart tax incentives for Nigerian companies e.g a mix of tax performance rebates , reduction and even holidays

4:. Cut Personal Income Tax slightly: in the big picture this will significantly improve purchasing power .

5 : Improve electricity supply : Nigerians spend a significant portion of their income power wasteful generators ( that's like burning critical money)

6 Reduce import tarriff on critical health care supply .

7 Cut current recurrent expenditure bill by 10 percent annually
I could go on and on but I am busy now

Do you know how many retired and ousted elected office holders who are on pension and allowances all running into millions?

Some of them were once senstors and governors in different dispensations and all earn different pensions and different allowances for these offices.

It is not all these monies past and present that will cause inflation, it is the 18k they pay you.

I repeat, you are a fool.

Mumu no former member of NASS is on any pension ..you are just too dull ( You can never make it )..The only elected officials on pension are just some former Governors ( about 9 of them) and all past Presidents and they are currently just 6 , again we do the maths to help your tiny walnut sized brain , the 6 ex president earn 29 million a month that comes to about 174m a month and 2bn a year , the 9 governors earn far less with Lagos governors earning the most ...let's say the ex governors do another pension bill of 5 billion annually, add that to my former number and you will see it doesn't move the inflation pin much ...

Please try and learn how things work and stop behaving like a sub specie

Your National Assembly who you think eat all the money in the country arr just 540 members , let assume their salaries are 18m a month , the total monthly wage bill will be 9.7bn Naira which will arrive at 166bn naira annually, it means in a year they can tweak the demand/supply dynamics by that amount ..Now lets get to the work force affected by minimum wage , the NBS says we have about 57 million of such workers , now let's assume all of the them earn a minimum wage of 50 thousand naira a month that would bring the monthly wage bill to 2.8 trillion naira , annually that would come to 34 trillion naira ( double the national budget ) remember production has in no way increased so now people have more money to go for the same amount of supply , this automatically leads to inflation which eroded any superficial purchasing power you thought you had , in one month you will be back in the same space mumu struggling as usual..
