Lion saves Christians as they are being attacked by militants, says pastor JB Cachila Published 20 April 2017 | 10:08 PM In what appears to be a story of Biblical proportions, a pastor secretly ministering in the Middle East claims lions came to rescue him and his group from armed Islamic militants. Pastor Paul Ciniraj, director of Bibles for Mideast, a Christian ministry that aims to distribute Bibles, preach the Gospel and invite people in the Middle East into God's Kingdom, was reportedly rescued from militants by a group of three lions, WND reported. Pastor Paul detailed his story in the ministry's website . "My risen Lord Jesus Christ has saved my life once again," Pastor Paul wrote, "and I praise and thank God for His unspeakable grace!" According to Pastor Paul, this story began a few weeks ago. About three weeks ago, he had just finished baptizing some people when a group of militants arrived and stoned them. He was rushed to a hospital after sustaining serious injuries to his skull and was transferred to a specialist hospital. The Islamic militants who stoned him earlier, however, discovered where he was being treated forcing him to leave the hospital and go into hiding. Pastor Paul was secretly transferred to a house belonging to a Muslim-turned-Christian, Pastor Ayyoob, who lives near a forest area. Pastor Paul stayed there with Pastor Ayyoob's wife, two kids, and 80-year-old mother. Fellow believers secretly visited Pastor Paul there, and they would have prayer services together. About three weeks later, on Easter Sunday, Pastor Ayyoob was leading the group in a worship service when suddenly a group of militants brandishing weapons and steel bars arrived. "We had no idea what to do," Pastor Paul said of the group's response. At that time, Pastor Paul hadn't fully recovered yet, and a pregnant woman had come to join them for the service. Pastor Paul said the whole group lost all their hope, thinking it would be their last day. However, he says that a lion appeared from the forest and attacked one of the militants. When the other militants tried to attack the beast, two other lions appeared. Terrified, the militants ran away. The lions, however, left Pastor Paul and the group of believers alone. "Equally astonishing," Pastor Paul went on to explain, "records show no lions are supposed to live in that forest." |

Drama as Corper who sought Photograph with Fayose gets Automatic employment Osamwonyi Bright Osas is a graduate of Political Science and Public Administration who is observing the mandatory one year National Youth Service Corps(NYSC) programme at the College of Education, Ikere-Ekiti. Luck came his way as he encountered Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose when the came to Ikere Ekiti for on the spot assessment of the third phase ongoing Ado/Ikere road dualization on Thursday 20th April, 2017. Governor Fayose had finished the supervision and was on his way to his bus when Osas accosted him, "good afternoon Mr. Governor, I am a native of Edo, I relocated from Adamawa to Ekiti State because of my love for you, I follow everything you do religiously online, I love you so much and I pray God take you higher and higher. I graduated from UNIBEN with a first class in Political Science and Public Administration, one thing I pray thee Sir, please allow me snap with you Sir", Osas who was in NYSC outfit begged. Without blinking an eyelid, the governor obliged and photographers did the needful. Immediately after this, the unusual happened, "go to the provost tomorrow, tell her I asked her to give you automatic employment", Mr. Fayose said. Osas who was overwhelmed by the governor's gesture went on his kneels in appreciation, thanking God and governor Fayose for the favour. Speaking with newsmen after the encounter, Osas said "I am overwhelmed seeing the governor of Ekiti State today, he's an amiable leader and he is so down to service, when I was in school as an undergraduate I do read many of his speeches on what governance should be, on how to move Nigeria forward. "I am in love with the fact that he's fearless, he discharges his duties without fear or favour, that is one of the qualities I cherish in him. I learnt from him that for you to rule successfully, you must appreciate the common man, he is a very good friend of the masses, seeing him come so close to the people inspires me, I was just coming from my CDS now and I saw him here, I was so happy and I said I must see him before he leaves and that was why I accosted him. "I just thanked God for what happened now and I pray God bless him abundantly. He has just called the provost that I should be retained, that I should be given automatic employment, permanent employment, he called the provost and the provost said first thing on Monday I should come with my CV. I just want to appreciate governor Fayose." |
NO, WE ARE NOT HUNGRY BECAUSE WE ARE LAZY! By Prof Yusuf Dankofa The Sultan's argument that we are hungry because we are lazy represents the mindset of our right wing conservative traditional and contemporary elites in the discourse on how to drive development in a dysfunctional economy like ours. For so long the elites had wrongfully prided itself as a hardworking and creative class downplaying their legitimate role as plunderers. They have also successfully brainwashed the poor from the informal class to believe that they are what they are and where they are because they are lazy, indolent and parasitic in our social organisation. In reality the poor has always been hardworking while the rich are the parasites and the prebendal. In fact, in Nigeria, majority are programmed to be poor, because of the class structure that elevates and pampers the elites but alienates the masses To start with, it is the rich and powerful that discouraged the poor from hard work by entrenching patronage instead of merit in our value system. The poor work so hard and get peanuts, while the privileged class work so little and get massively rewarded. A governor spend 8 years and allot unto himself through legislative surrogates millions as pension while the poor spends 35 years as a messenger and dies awaiting his pension and the same elite parasite who had cornered all the juicy contracts and landed properties as ex governor or senator will mount the podium and declare the poor as lacking in intellect and the drive to succeed. Dishonesty has always been the cardinal principle of the elites class in Nigeria so much so that any budgetary allocation for the poor goes to them, excluding the poor. Bank of Agriculture was established to help poor farmers but ended up helping the elites who are consumers. Microfinance banks were established to empower the poor but end up in supporting the elites.Fertilizers that will help poor agrarians end up in the markets for round tripping and the poor becomes unable to buy. Education that should be made available to the poor as a matter of right so that he can be useful to himself and the society has been denied the poor and of what use is the life of an illiterate? Yet they become bus conductors who shout themselves hoarse from morning till evening and the permanent secretary who works from 10am to 3 pm with about 1 hour break will open his mouth and say the poor is poor because he is lazy. How can you declare the poor mechanic who is in the garage from 8am to 7pm a lazy man, when the loan he is to access from bank of industry has been denied him, while the same loan in millions has been given to the Director of Administration in government parastatals just for the fun of it. The entire budget of government at all levels is used to satisfy the indolence of the elites while the poor gets nothing, not even a good consulting clinic. Jobs are never created for the poor and the little ones they get they hardly joke with. The scores of domestic workers, messengers in MDA, cleaners of our streets and other downtrodden workers can never by any shred of imagination be deemed lazy because they work endless hours. It is high time we put a stop to that lie being propagated every time that the poor is poor because he is lazy, no..give the poor the same privilege and he will be materially successful like you. Award him scholarships and open up the economic space for him and he will be successful, afterall, you are not better than him. The scholarship meant for mass education of the poor has been cornered by you and for your children to the exclusion of the poor. If the poor is lazy, your policies made him so. He abandoned his farm to bootlick your shoes because you need him to become your political thug and the poverty ravaging the poor is artificially induced so that the poor will be in perpetual bondage as your slave. You enslaved a man and come around to say he is so because he is lazy. That is sociologically, and scientifically incorrect.!! |

QUEEN ELIZABETH II TURNS 91 TODAY. Britain's Queen Elizabeth II is celebrating her 91st birthday today, Friday. The world's longest-reigning monarch taking a step back from royal duties to allow the younger generation to step forward. A gun salute at London's Tower Bridge and at Hyde Park will mark the Queen's birthday, a notably more low-key affair after a year of festivities to mark her hitting 90. "I'm still alive," the Queen joked in June during a visit to Northern Ireland, one of the numerous engagements filling the royal calendar. But the ever-popular monarch has begun handing over duties to other royals, standing down as patron of 25 bodies at the end of last year, including the Wimbledon tennis championships. While her eldest child Prince Charles is heir to the throne, greater attention has fallen on his two sons William and Harry, who have taken on some of the Queen's duties. The arrival of Prince William and his wife Kate's two children - Prince George and Princess Charlotte - has cemented the country's positive view of the royal family. Prince Harry is also admired, receiving widespread acclaim this week for speaking out about seeking counselling years after his mother's death when he was a child. BBC |
Lagos tackles FG in court over N50 stamp duty Published April 21, 2017 Ramon Oladimeji The Lagos State Government has approached the Supreme Court to challenge the collection of N50 stamp duty by the Federal Government on every N1,000 transaction conducted by customers in all commercial banks operating in Lagos State. In an appeal filed before the apex court by its Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Adeniji Kazeem, Lagos State is contending that it ought to be the one collecting the N50 stamp duty rather than the Federal Government. Kazeem argued that by virtue of Section 4(1) of the Stamp Duties Act, Cap S8 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004, the Federal Government had no right or power to collect and keep money paid as stamp duties on behalf of federating units. Lagos State urged the Supreme Court to declare as illegal the instruction given to the Central Bank of Nigeria to deduct and remit to the Federal Government N50 stamp duty collected on every N1,000 bank transaction conducted within the Lagos State territory. The state wants the apex court to make an order compelling the Federal Government to remit to it all such monies it had so far collected as stamp duty on bank transactions conducted within the Lagos State territory. Kazeem argued that Section 163(b) of the Constitution gives the state an entitlement “to the sum equal to the proportion of the net proceeds of the sum collected as duties on such transaction within the territory of Lagos State.” While urging the Supreme Court to interpret the provisions of the Stamp Duties Act, 2004, he expressed the belief that Section 4(2) of the Act makes the collection of the N50 stamp duty the exclusive preserve of the state.
