Politics / My Igbo Brothers Let Think And Be Wise by farm2008: 5:54am On Oct 30, 2021
I have come to notice that 80% of people shouting no election in Anambra and sit at home don't reside within the southeast region. They reside in other states doing and enjoying there business, their children/ ward are going to school. These set of people are all over the social media shouting sit at home and no election. Come to ask yourselves these questions, we have brothers residing in kano, Kaduna, Jos ,borno, lagos, name them doing business despite the insecurity in those states have they for onces think of relocating to southeast. Most of the billions and millions of igbo extractions made there money outside the southeast region and still making it. Building industries, factories, estate and shopping malls in other states there by creating employment over there. but down home ( southeast) what people think of building are hotels and club houses. Every year in year out our brothers relocate to other parts of the state in search of green pasture and better life. Biafra is an ideology that have come to stay but its movement have a questionable character. Sit at home is not the best solution to achieve biafra. We are just punishing ourselves. It does not affect buhari or an average man only the poor, the man in the street and our children who are are still schooling. The so called disciples or leaders of mazi nnamdi of ipob reside outside Nigeria but creating problems for us. Let's also pray that one day the so call ESN will not turn again us, remember gun have it's own spirit. My brothers and sisters let's think and be wise.THE KILLING IS MUCH. ALL THESE PEOPLE ARE CREATED BY GOD.

Politics / Re: IPOB Sit At Home And Taliban Rules - The Future Of The Igbos by farm2008: 11:30am On Sep 06, 2021
80% decided to stay of the street and market because of fear of the unknown some miscreants, hoodlums and criminal minded persons uses the so called suspended sit at home to steal , bit up people and destroy people's properties. No reasonable person will like to be affected, so people decided to respect themselves by staying at home. The issue of love of nnamdi kalu does not come to play in the mind of so many Igbo persons. The truth about the sit at home is, it does not affect the man in the helm of affair of this country, is not affecting the rich business man, it does not affect the state government, in Enugu the airport is functioning flight goes out and come in.is the poor masses that are feeling the heat. People now have resulted to open for business on Sundays. FOR HOW LONG CAN THE SIT AT HOME BE SUSTAIN. Nigeria govt cannot be push to release nnamdi kalu based on the sit at home declared by ipob meaning everyone in Igbo land should be prepared to sit at home every Monday for the next one to three years because I know the case will last more than 2 to 3 years or maybe after may 29th 2023. I rest my case

Politics / Re: IPOB Sit-At-Home: South East Not Safe To Hold Conference – NUJ by farm2008: 5:38am On Aug 25, 2021
All those shouting sit at home should think well. Do u think the government of nigeria are willing to release him. So b prepare to sit at home every Monday for the next one year to two years. I know come 21 october the case will be adjourn to next year (2022) may b January or February. Your sit at home does not affect civil servants because there salary will be paid, it does not affect the government cos all there taxes will be paid by you, it does nt affect landlords of ur shops or offices because u must pay, does nt affect a sales boy or girl because d full salary must b paid. Rather it affect the u and the poor masses. It does nt affect any igbo man or woman in any other parts of the country. U that is shouting Biafra and still making use of Nigeria currency (#) can u pls stop doing business with it. A civil servant under both state and federal under the Nigeria govt shouting Biafra (sit at home) can u pls kindly resign ur job cos u still work and also b paid by Nigeria govt. Be wise.

Nairaland / General / UNICEF Decries Unending School Closure by farm2008: 5:50am On Jan 13, 2021
The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has decried the continued closure of schools in “too many countries” on account of the COVID-19 pandemic. In a statement on Tuesday, the agency said this was in spite of increasing evidence that schools were not drivers of the pandemic.

UNICEF also pointed out “overwhelming evidence” of the impact of school closures on children.it warned that the number of out-of-school children was set to rise by 24 million “to a level we have not yet seen in years and have fought so hard to overcome”.
It noted the “devastating cost of school closures, which it said affected 90 per cent of students worldwide and denied a third of school children access to remote education.

“Children’s ability to read, write and do basic mathematics has suffered, and the skills they need to thrive in the 21st century economy have diminished.

“Their health, development, safety and well-being are at risk. The most vulnerable among them will bear the heaviest brunt.

“Without school meals, children are left hungry and their nutrition is worsening.

“Without daily interactions with their peers and a reduction in mobility, they are losing physical fitness and showing signs of mental distress,” the agency noted.

The agency added that school children were more vulnerable to abuse, child marriage and child labour in the absence of the safety that schools often provided.

This, UNICEF emphasised, is why shuttering schools must be a last resort after all other options have been exhausted.

“Assessing the risk of transmission at the local level should be a key determinant in decisions on school operations.

“Nationwide school closures must be avoided whenever possible.

“Where there are high levels of community transmission, where health systems are under extreme pressure and where closing schools is deemed inevitable, safeguarding measures must be put in place.

“This includes ensuring that children who are at risk of violence in their homes, who are reliant upon school meals and whose parents are essential workers are able to continue their education in their classrooms.

“In case of lockdowns, schools must be among the first to reopen once authorities start lifting restrictions.

“Catch-up classes should be prioritised to ensure that children who have been unable to learn remotely are not left behind.

“If children are faced with another year of school closures, the effects will be felt for generations to come,” UNICEF said.
