The supply chain has been disrupted for a while now, from covid restriction, fuel and a lot more. But today we like to highlight another two major recent ones which particularly affect the Agro supply chain and how they affect you and me.

First is the wheat shortage, which is the escalating condition from the war between Russia and Ukraine, which produces 25% of the world wheat combined, before you think what about the other 75%, this is a global supply chain and those ones already have their market, and Nigeria is among the top customers of this two-nation above. Note like we always mention here things have cause and effect, especially in the Agro space, this will not just push bread up but also corn as an alternative will be affected.

Second is the ban on foreigners and any of their affiliates from....

Food / Fuel And Food Price. Is This A Crisis... by farmsupport: 12:50am On Mar 07, 2022
Fuel looming effect

Is food inflation dodging the shot?

For the past few weeks, the pains of fuel scarcity are being felt by all, and whenever fuel is scarce, every market sector feels the impact. Though prices of food right now look resistant and immune from the effect of this fuel scarcity. But how long and what could be driving this?...... read more https://mailchi.mp/c9e53e28537b/fuel-effect-food

The bulk purchase strategies have served in reducing more supply chain touches and reducing cost

AGRIC PRODUCE OVERVIEW

Many have can’t play the season and stock product, but also not being able to take advantage of the bulk purchase can make the overall cost of food expense more expensive.

The solution to this is simple, the first brief about what we do. We are an Agric eCommerce platform and we sell and deliver Agric/Food products in big basket size (this big basket is relative to everyone to some it is tons. But basically we mean a unit product on our platform, with checkout permission of 0.5/half and 0.25/quarter)

With that out of the way, let us then go to the solution of getting food products cheaper at all seasons. It is to form a partnership, especially as an individual that doesn’t fall into the bracket described above. Easy for retailers right, Yes but as individual consumers, we can also partner with a friend, colleague, or neighbor to collectively stay a step above the supply chain saving some cost.

Food / December Month Of Foodie And The Season Of Demand by farmsupport: 3:38pm On Dec 01, 2021
December is finally here a month of more demand on income and more expense on food, hope you are preparing

Before entering into the short intro, CBN MPC outcome was held last week which is the last for the year and the MPR was retained. No need to be disturbed with the exact meaning of this. Just don’t forget the word “retained”. I hope price and household expenses will be retained as we enter the yuletide.

No time of the year has a surge of food, events, party, charity and every other thing responsible for increasing demand. And with increase demand both real and perceived comes with a price increase. It is hence a good time to effectively plan to spend even as food takes over 50% of household income in Nigeria against recommended 10-15%

Historically inflation in Nigeria has often increased at the end of the year, and this is not too far fetch, though this season is also cushioned with some harvest. Last year experience an increase in 0.89% just in this month few its previous month this is very high and poor harvest must have contributed to it, but increase inflation is not strange in this month as 2019: 0.13%, 2018: 0.16%, 2017: -0.53%, 2016: 0.07%, 2015: 0.18%. And as we have previous say in our last that inflation is down for the 10th month. What consumer price index could be the year? As only 1 in 7 years as it dropped in December.
