HardMirror: this really got me laughing. I was chatting with a female friend yesterday. they had a vigil in her church on Friday. so I asked her on Saturday if she remembered to pray for me too and she answered "maybe". so I asked her why maybe, she said she didn't know because she prayed in tongues. So I asked her the difference between praying in tongues and praying using normal languages. she said praying in tongues is better because the devil doesn't know the language. and I was like wtf? so I asked her, if the devil doesn't understand the language, how come you guys chase demons out with the same language? her response was "you can't understand". what's so difficult to understand in that? 39 Likes 1 Share |

President Robert Gabriel Mugabe, Africa's most educated president and supposedly world's most educated president as well, was born on February 21, 1924, in Kutama, Southern Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe), just months after Southern Rhodesia had become a British Crown colony. As a result, the people of his village were oppressed by new laws and faced limitations to their education and job opportunities. Although many people in Southern Rhodesia went only as far as a grammar school, Mugabe was fortunate enough to receive a good education. He attended school at the local Jesuit mission under the supervision of school director Father O'Hea. A powerful influence on the boy, O'Hea taught Mugabe that all people should be treated equally and educated to the fulfillment of their abilities. Mugabe's teachers, who called him "a clever lad," were early to recognize his abilities as considerable. Mugabe holds seven academic degrees from South Africa's Fort Hare University, University of South Africa (Unisa) and University of London. Six of Mugabe's university degrees were actually earned while he was doing distance learning and of the six, he got two of them while he was in prison. The seven hard-earned degrees cover a broad range of disciplines including education, economics, administration, and law. Over the course of nine years, President Mugabe studied privately while teaching at a number of mission schools in Southern Rhodesia. Mugabe continued his education at the University of Fort Hare in South Africa, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in history and English in 1951. Mugabe then returned to his hometown to teach there. By 1953, he had earned his Bachelor of Education degree through correspondence courses. In 1955, Mugabe moved to Northern Rhodesia. There, he taught for four years at Chalimbana Training College while also working toward his Bachelor of Science degree in economics through correspondence courses with the University of London. After moving to Ghana, Mugabe completed his economics degree in 1958. |

Foreign Affairs / Who Has Ever Wondered The Rate At Which We Waste Food? by fashmania(m): 11:37am On Aug 30, 2015 |
I was on twitter this morning and I saw some post by a user (@the generalis) and it got me thinking about the rate at which we waste food. It's estimated that a whopping 4billion tonnes of food is wasted worldwide every year, and about 870 million people worlwide are under-nourished (see the pictures below). We blame the government for this due to inadequate processing facilities etc... But we have to look at ourselves, how many times have we bought food at an eatery, took a few bite or mound or spoonful and leave the rest? How many times have we disposed raw foods, foods that some people would kill for, foods that got other people killed (I read a news not quite long about a guy getting burned because he stole a pot of soup). Instead of disposing that raw food in your kitchen, find a hungry soul, if you can't do that, we have motherless-babies homes around that you can donate the food to. Thank you.

The MTV Africa Music Awards which began in 2008 by MTV Networks Africa now “Viacom International Media Networks Africa” is one of the major music awarding ceremonies held annually in Africa. It involves the participation of some of the most well-known artistes and celebrities in Africa. Without disputing fact, MTV Africa Music Award is one of the most respected and competitive award in the world of entertainment today and it has spread its tentacles all over the countries including Africa. The nominees of this year’s awards were unveiled at Haren, Johannesburg, South Africa at a press briefing which was attended by some of the nominees including Seyi Shay, Black Motion, Bucie, Casper Nyovest and Diamond Platnumz and a host of other, celebrities and media. Fact findings revealed that a total of 70 artistes were nominated, across 13 different categories. Nominees for additional categories, including the MTV Base Leadership Award and Best International Act were not exempted. MAMA 2015 full Nominees list cut across, Best male, Best Female, Best group, Best Hip Hip, Best collaboration, Song of the year, Best Live, Video of the year, Best Pop and Alternative, Best Francophone, Best Lusophone and Personality of the year. As the award ceremony draws nearer, I have taken time to study the nominations, follow the nominated artistes closely and have been able to come up with unbiased predictions of possible winners this year. Check them out… Best Male This category has the biggest male artistes from the continent battling it out to clutch the award. This category is one of the toughest considering the artistes nominated. Nominated in this category are Diamond, AKA, Davido, Wizkid and Sakodie. From my personal fact findings, MAMA 2015 Best male award will likely go to Diamond from Tanzania because he has had an incredible 2014/2015, which attracted world recognition. The Best Female This category has great singers like Bucie, Bussiwa, Seyi Shay, Vanessa, Mdee, Yemi Alade. From all indications, MAMA 2015 female category will likely go to Yemi Alade because she clearly had a good year, with countless appearances across various stages around Africa and outside the continent. He video for “Johnny” is the most viewed female music video in Nigeria and no other female song comes close to hers in Africa. Best Group This category has P-Square, Sauti Sol, Beatenberg, Black Motion and B4 as nominees. I will tip PSquare to take the award in this category, considering the fact that they still remain the biggest group in Africa and their new album, ‘Double Trouble’ presently boasts of about 6 videos and 4 of these videos enjoyed the No 1 spot on MTV Africa top 10 count down and various other music charts. Best Hip Hop This is another keenly contested category with the likes of Olamide, Phyno, Youssoupha, K.O and Casper Nyovest from South Africa. Olamide or Phyno no doubt, appeal to Nigerians, but they may end up sharing votes, which is why Casper Nyovest may get this award. His current performance and stage command may pay off on this one. Best Collaboration Slugging it out in this category are AKA feat, Burna Boy, Da Les & JR “All Eyes on Me”, Davido featuring Uhuru and DJ Bukz “The Sound”, Diamond and Iyanya – “Bum Bum”, Toofan and DJ Arafat – “Apero Remix”, Stanley Enow and Sakodie – “Njama Njama Cow Remix”. Honestly, this is a very tricky category, but I will give it to All Eyes on ME, by AKA featuring Burna Boy, Da Les and JR. The reason is not farfetched – the synergy between the artistes was on point, a feat that is somewhat difficult to achieve when you have more than two people on a song. I may be wrong, but if I will hand this plaque, I would give it to “All Eyes On Me”, but if there’s room for a second place, then I would also mention Davido and Uhuru – “The Sound” Song of the Year This is another highly competitive category, as it features some of the biggest songs from the continent with nominations for “Dorobucci” by the Mavins, “Shoki” by Lil Kesh feat. Olamide and Davido and others. Well, I will give it to “Dorobucci” by Mavins. I feel that it’s the biggest African tune of the 2014/2015. The song rocked all the nooks and cranny of Africa, even several months after its release. Best Live Best live category nominees – Big Nuz, Diamond, Flavour, MI Casa, Toofan (Togo). I will gice this one to Flavour. His kind of music is mostly produced with live instruments, hence, it is easy for him to perform live and make it as believable as the recorded version. Flavour is also an instrumentalist and a music scholar, I will be surprised if he doesn’t win this category. Video of the Year This category comprises of hot videos such as “Crazy”, “Doors”, “Love You Every day”, “Nafukwa” and “The Sound” by Davido featuring Uhuru and DJ Bukz. I will give this one to “The Sound”, directed by Sesan. Apart from South Africa, no country makes good videos like Nigerian directors do. All the videos in this category are great, but the sky dive, sahara, costume and dance moves should give this award to Davido and Sesan. Best Pop and Alternative This category entails artistes like Fuse ODG , Jeremy Loops, Jimmy Nevis, Nneka, Prime circle. I will give rather give it to Nneka because of her buoyancy and the strong theme of her music. Best Francophone This category has artistes like DJ Arafat, Jovi Laurette Lepeade, Tour 2 Garden, and Toofan. I will give it to DJ Arafat because he’s been able to gain relevance in Anglophone countries where music listeners do not really understand what he’s singing. His move to collaborate with some English speaking artistes has also helped with his diversity and continent wide recognition. Best Lucophone This category has Ary, B4, Nelson Frectas, NGA and Yuri Da cunha. I will rather choose B4 of Angola. This is because B4’s performances has given him nominations in other categories, which cannot really be said about his contenders. Personality of the year category Here we have Basketmouth, Bonang Matheba, OC Ukeje, Trevor Noah, and Yaya Toure. I will give it to Basketmouth because of his hilarious and mind-blowing performances in both national and international comedy shows. He’s not just a big name, he’s a force to reckon with. I don’t even see anyone beating him in this category. Best New Act : Transformed Today by Absolut This category gave nods to nominees from around the continent, including Cassper Nyovest (South Africa), Anna Joyce (Angola), Duncan (South Africa), Patoranking (Nigeria) and Stonebwoy (Ghana). Now, this category is very tight. All the contenders are strong, but the stronger artistes for me, would be Patoranking and Stonebwoy. Patoranking has been cutting across several boundaries with her music and has been very busy performing on the biggest stages in Nigeria and outside Africa. Stonebwoy on the other hand needs no introduction. He won the last BET Best African Act award, a honour that skyrockets his chances ten notches away from his contenders in this category. Matter of fact, I think Stonebwoy deserves this award. MAMA 2015, will hold on July 18, 2015 in Durban, South Africa and will be hosted by American artiste, songwriter and producer – Ne-Yo. |
Romance / Men Who Cook: What Do You Think, Ladies? by fashmania(m): 7:23am On Jul 08, 2015 |
Think of your checklist for the "perfect man," he's kind, gentle, handsome and hardworking, he has a good job and he's respectful of your choices, right? Should you add a good cook too? Because, according to Harris Interactive, 32 percent of men adore cooking, and 46 percent enjoy it when they have th e time. A lot of men take pleasure in cooking, and women can reap the benefits of that. Whose “Job” Is It to Cook? Although many modern couples have made progress when it comes to avoiding gender stereotypes, historically, because of legal and cultural practices, combined with time-honored religious and educational practices, women spent centuries in charge of the household. In Victorian time, an ideal women was even called “the Angel in the House.” Women stayed home and took care of the entirety of the cleaning and coking. Eating out was a rare treat. Even though sixty years ago, American women began heading off to the workplace in droves, it’s been hard for families to move away from the idea that housework and cooking are women’s work—even though she may work outside the home as long as or even longer than her mate. Modern couples need to have conversations about the equal distribution of household responsibilities. Men can absolutely cook—either on a rotational basis with their wives or girlfriends or in exchange for the women of the house performing some other household chore or errand on a regular basis. You can always cook meals together, too. Does a Man in Your Kitchen Threaten You a Little? On the other hand, many women grew up with mothers who did most or all of the cooking. Perhaps their fathers grilled on days with good weather and were in charge of the annual Thanksgiving turkey, but that was about it. Realizing your spouse or partner wants to step up in the kitchen can be a bit of a shock at first. Perhaps you enjoy it for a meal or two, but eventually you start to feel that the space you defined for yourself with your rules and techniques is being steamrolled over. However, if that’s the case, you’re looking at it all wrong. Don’t focus on what the man in your life is doing to your kitchen, be thankful you are getting to do something else. The Sexy Amateur Chef Being able to rely on your boyfriend or husband to cook at least half of the meals in your house can prove to be a relief for the modern busy woman, and there’s nothing sexier than being given a chance to relax at the end of the day. Don’t discount your contribution if you’re a stay-at-home mom, either. Watching the kids all day and taking care of the house is more than a full-time job, so your husband can absolutely pitch in by doing the cooking. More women should absolutely place “pulls his weight around the house” on their list of “perfect man” traits. While some women may feel like one of their talents is being usurped when a man does the cooking, others appreciate the break from the kitchen. All in all, sharing the cooking benefits you both, and it gives you a chance to try new dishes you might have never made yourself. |

lilprinze: Why are they talking about arresting TB Joshua shouldn't they be talking about arresting the engineers and person in charge of procurement, they are calling for his head because he failed to give sensible verbal response (blaming boko-haram or some witchcraft)... if he had initiated this by suing the engineering firm in charge of the construction of the building, I'm very sure he'd have been looked at with less... pls complete it. 1 Like |
