jmoore: Current inflation in Nigeria has nothing to do with much money in circulation.
Nigeria is experiencing cost push inflation which is caused by naira devaluation and subsidy removal by Tinubu.
CBN under Cardoso is a disaster. You keep increasing interest rates to combat inflation but inflation keeps increasing.
How will increase in interest rate make petrol price to drop to 400 naira per liter or make 1 dollar to be sold at 700 naira? Do u know economy more than cbn or u think cbn is just the governor alone? He is right Buhari printed so much money and there is a law or theory in economy.... Raise the money supply n inflation goes up. Apart from this, subsidy removal, crude oil production, herdsmen and criminal chasing farmers from farming, massive looting also has a part |

APC used his inability to save to campaign and rally for vote but here they are doing pretty worst. Killing the economy, impoverishing Nigerians. |

Image123: $100 million is about 163billion naira. Different ministries got far more than this for one year. For example, The Ministry of Education got N857.134bn.
The Ministry of Health and Social Welfare – N667.577bn.
The Ministry of Interior – N362.552bn. The Ministry of Youths – N201.467bn.
The airplane is not for one year BTW. Each ministry can still decide and some of them are already doing these things. It's not mutually exclusive that 100million MUST be spent. It's the age long talk about affordability and choice. The money you use to buy your car or fuel it can save lives or be given to a great cause. You can not reasonably decide not to do any other things in life except feeding the poor and saving lives. Buhari did not fail BTW. He disappointed in economics but did pretty well in many sectors. Good luck my dear friend enjoy your new Nigeria brought to u by APC.

Surely you can settle after your studies in Netherland, you just need to file for "orientation year residence permit" which allows you to look for work after obtaining your degree. It is valid for one year tho, and if you have secured a job and wish to continue living and working in the Netherlands, you can then apply for a suitable residence permit.....it is quite simple according to research and people I have spoken to. thanks |

Image123: The foreign reserves just hit over $39billion. That is a GREAT change if you don't know what restructuring and re-engineering of the economy mean. Inflation has slowed down in the past two months. We've had trade surplus in billions of dollars for the first and second quarters of the year. BTW, Buhari stopped the crazy leakage that was going on under GEJ. His major undoing was the sustaining of the subsidies that made the economy struggle and plunge into astronomical debt. Agreeable, i will say that he and Osinbade failed in economy and decision making.
The purchase of the presidential jet IS OF national importance. It has NOT in any way affected you or the economy or am i missing something here, other than the usual noise about waste? Or do you suppose that the money used to purchase it would have been shared to you in your local government instead?
Like i earlier said, compare Tinubu 8 years metrics with OBJ 8 years, either as governor at the same time with OBJ or in the future if you can. You can't compare someone's 8 years achievements with another's 1 year. It makes no sense. OBJ himself is no saint BTW.
Exactly what i said, OBJ got excess and massive goodwill. The economy was not in shambles, and everyone was opening doors of opportunities, aid and forgiveness to Nigeria, and removing all kinds of bans as they wanted our democracy to work after such a long time. He built no infrastructure, at least compared to even Buhari. He killed power and established the political craze that affects us all today. He had everyone's goodwill, including opposition, instead, he built cabals everywhere. Today, Tinubu is taking on the three strongest cabals in Nigeria at a go. You can't do that and expect a jolly ride. You are referring to folks like Atiku, El Rufai, FFK, Oby, Danjuma, Anenih, Kwakwanso, Nenadi Usman and co as best brains right? i laugh. Everybody has always felt Nigerian and loved Nigeria since Independence and before. Even in military rule, we felt Nigerian. It's only the secessionists that did not feel Nigerian and had the civil war. We all rallied around OBJ because of Abiola 93, and everyone felt the yorubas should be compesated in a sense. The two main candidates were also Yorubas. Problem started from Yaradua (a problem caused by OBJ), where the North felt cheated and played. And then came GEJ's loss, the upsurge of ipob, and Buhari's magnified nepotism. $100 million might not solve all infrastructure challenges in Nigeria, it can make a significant difference if strategically allocated. the government could build 100–300 km of new roads in urban or rural areas, improving access to major cities, reducing traffic, and boosting economic activities. the government could build around 400 to 1,000 standard schools or renovate thousands of existing schools, including the provision of classrooms, libraries, computer labs, and facilities to improve learning outcomes. With $100 million, the government could build 20–40 standard hospitals in underserved areas or upgrade and equip existing healthcare centers With $100 million, the government could implement 50–200 irrigation projects, improve water access for farmers, and support increased food production. $100 million could fund hundreds of rural electrification projects, bringing electricity to thousands of homes and boosting local industries. With $100 million, the government could build 500–2,000 boreholes or water systems, improving access to clean water for communities and reducing waterborne diseases.
While the rest questions you ask or try to defend only time will give you the answer just as it gave you a cleared answer to Buhari failure regime |

lastkingsman: People don't know how f***ed up Nigeria is. The issue is 200 million people are not producing anything for the rest of the world to consume. Even oil production is at all time low at 1.3mbpd courtesy of APC.
Libya with 7million people is doing 1.2mbpd. Iraq with population of 44 million people is doing 4.4mbpd.
In fact Goodluck Jonathan did 2.3mbpd. The reason why I am drawing all these analogies is to show you that a nation blessed with oil and gas reserves shouldn't suffer like this. If APC can just be productive the way GEJ/PDP was at 2.3mbpd, the exchange rate will crash below 600/$ and fuel can be bought below N500/liter.
In summary, we are suffering because the exchange rate is too expensive which is determined by productivity. We can't even extract crude and sell to international market and power our local refinery meanwhile oil was discovered 60years ago. Tufiakwa We are suffering because APC has exalted rigging to the highest bidder and at same time they couldn't effectively monitor oil production and tracking. We produce far more than what u quoted but organised criminals in power are aiding them to steal it. Why is our reserve not growing? If obasanjo could grow the reserve in 8 years by adding over 38 billion and 20 billion in excess crude oil.. Meaning he saved over 58 billion in 8 years. While Buhari only managed to grow the reserve by just 6 billion but borrowed or increased external debt from 7 billion dollars in 2015 to 31 billion in 2023. This are the problem not the fact that we don't produce anything. There is massive looting my brother. Even the state governors across all parties are involved. |

Image123: i did not ask you to enjoy the pain, but that we will enjoy the dividends of the current restructuring and re-engineering of our economy. Renovation of vp office has been in the budget and plan for years unfulfilled and recurrent. It wasn't the new government's idea but since GEJ. Heavens will not fall over it either, whatever price you call it. It is not personal property but national. The President changing his plane IS a necessity, that is Nigeria's number 1 citizen. When your father becomes president, he can decide to gamble with his life or use cargo to save cost. i have no idea about buying yachts apart from social media noise. Our reserves have grown from $28 billion that GEJ squandered it to to about $37 billion today. OBJ met great goodwill and help from inside and outside. His government was supposed to have done what Tinubu is just doing. OBJ met a healthy Nigeria and made use of it profitably. Tinubu met a dying/dead Nigeria that he is literally resurrecting. They don't compare by mere numbers. Compare Tinubu 8 years metrics with OBJ 8 years, either has governor in the same time with OBJ or future if you can. There is no restructuring and re-engineering going on anywhere. The same way. Buhari came and said he was restructuring and cleaning the mess and was heavily supported by Tinubu see where the economy is right now. On the presidential jet,President changing his plane IS not a necessity as there are other alternatives. If the tinubu felt like he is not safe in any of the airplane then he should have volunteered his own private plane and lead by example of the sacrifice he has been preaching since. After all when they were in opposition they said they will sell of the jets. Are APC (Buhari and Tinubu) not ashamed that after 9 good years the reserve is the below 40 billion dollars? From 1999 may to December 2006 over 39 billion was generated and added to the reserve. Between this period 18 billion dollars was paid to paris club. Varify it from here https://dc.cbn.gov.ng/bullion/vol30/iss3/6/Between November 2006 to November 2007 over 9 billion dollars was added to the reserve. Bringing it to 50 billion dollars. Plus and additional 20 billion set aside Verify it from here: https://www.cbn.gov.ng/monetarypolicy/Conduct/2007.asp#:~:text=As%20at%20November%202007%2C%20the,of%20current%20foreign%20exchange%20disbursements This is the very reason obasanjo said the current crop of leaders in Nigeria deserves to be in jail. They are thieves.. They are not only stealing but they are borrowing and stealing what was borrowed. Lastly Obasanjo meet a broken country that has been isolated by the west. No reserve. Image123: There is NO HUMAN WAY there'll be floatation of the naira and the removal of subsidy without the pain. There is no human way the country can be better if you continue to live a borrowed life wasting resources on subsidy of dollars and petrol. Nigerians are tired of lack of progress, Nigerians need the current rebuilding of the economy. We will enjoy it without any foolish revolution. It's not about any party but the decision. Is that what the criminal politicians told you? You should enjoy the pain while over 21 billion was used to renovate vp office, president changing airline, buying yachts. Was naira ever floated? The naira is only devalued and stylishly pegged. As for subsidy that one is an argument for another day. How much did obasanjo meet on ground when he came in 1999? Let me remind you 4.99 billion dollars as foreign reserve with over 36 billion owed to paris club, with western nations sanctions because of abacha brutal regime. despite all this negative indicators OBJ successfully negotiated a debt relief by paying over 18 billion dollars to be let free of 18 billion. He grew the foreign reserve from 4.99 billion to over 50 billion in 2007 when he left. He created the excess crude oil account and left 20 billion dollars there.. In total obasanjo left over 70 billion dollars in just 8 years while oil sold for just 11 to 20 dollars
Since Buhari ruled 8 years n now tinubu continued how has life felt like? Instead of the reserve to grow it kept shrinking. No month passes by without them borrowing. |
