In a country of intellects, Jonathan should be the last person to be in an office as a local government chairman not to talk of President of Nigeria.

VoteLabourParty:
Maj Gen Muhammadu Buhari must have realised how terrible he was when in frustration dropped the bombshell, on the reason he has been losing election in Igboland and parts of Nigeria where Igbos are residing, stating that it is because he was involved in the Nigerian civil war.

The former dictator speaking on BBC Hausa services said, "the igbos hate him for what happened during the Biafran war". "I don't have any regret, and at such do not owe any apology to them, infact if there is a repeat of the civil war again, I will kill more Igbos to save the country".

The APC presidential candidate, added that this was the reason they never bothered to vote for him anywhere in Nigeria.

There's nothing wrong in sinning but a lot is wrong when you sin and walk around in pride defending your terrible sins.

Nothing in Buhari’s track record points to the recognition, on his part, of any remorse for what he did to the Igbos. Rather, his utterances, policies and body language suggest either utter disdain for the Igbo race or at wholesome dismissal of the group.

Perish the argument that, on two occasions, he picked Igbo candidates as his running mates. The Igbo race was not, and still cannot be fooled by that. Not even if his great grandmother indeed came from the cradle of Igbo land.

The Igbo raison d’etre can be encapsulated within three broad considerations: First, the Igbo want a country in which relationships are underpinned by freedom, fairness, equity and justice. Second, being highly enterprising in the areas of commerce and industry, the Igbo desire a public policy environment that encourages competition and guarantees a level playing field for all. Finally, as very highly mobile people, they crave for a socio-political order that will guarantee freedom of movement, freedom of association and citizenship rights wherever they find themselves.

Have you forgotten what happened in Lagos State where my kinsman from Igboland were deported like goats against the law of Nigeria?

The people were not even given the luxury of the provision of the 1999 Constitution that if you are accused of wrongdoing, you must be given a fair trial. They were not given a chance to say goodbye to their loved ones, they were not given a chance to carry their bags; they were not given a chance to explain themselves. They were summarily arrested and deported in the same country, everybody carries Nigerian passport and up till now, there is no law that says any Nigerian cannot live and work in any part of Nigeria.

We Igbos are known for being adventurous and entrepreneurial; anywhere we settle down is our second home. We invest anywhere; we build houses anywhere.

Perhaps, deporting Igbos from Lagos shows that if APC takes over government, Igbo people may face more stress. Up till now, the Lagos State Government is yet to explain what happened and it has gone ahead to add insult to injury by getting an Igbo man, who works for them — the spokesman of erstwhile ACN in Lagos, Joe Igbokwe — to justify something that is unjustifiable.

But Igbokwe said the persons that were relocated to Onitsha were the destitute, some of whom were mentally unstable, constituting nuisance and security threats; and that the action was aimed at helping them reunite with their families in the South-East.

If you arrest somebody and say the person is mentally unstable, how then are you able to determine which state the person comes from? How were they sure that the person who said he was from Onitsha was not from Kogi? It is only a psychiatrist that can ascertain the mental state of anybody. Even the Lagos traffic law says if you were caught driving against traffic, you would be checked by a psychiatrist to find out whether you are mentally fit or not. But in this case, they were the psychiatrists; they were the executioners; they bundle the people into a truck and drove them to Onitsha. Let them bring the certificates of their psychological evaluation. You can’t arrest somebody because the person does not have a shelter or access to water and conclude that the person is destitute because of his appearance. Maybe, if the person does not carry an ATM card, they will conclude that the person does not have a means of livelihood.

This act is just one of the few policies of APC against ordinary men as Okada riders who were Fashola's campaign tools became a menace immediately he won the election. They can forget all these so quickly but we, the victims won't forget as we use our thumbs for peaceful continuity against the deceitful change being championed by the desperate Tinubu and those who refused to change from worse to good, despite their well orchestrated propaganda, concocted lies and deceit through various media against President Jonathan.

These PDP need to stop the lies. Jonathan won't win this election. It's over!

The results from the polling booth was different from what they enter into the computer in the computer room.

I can vividly remember when this election result was coming in with APC candidate was getting the best of the results from the polling booth but to my surprise, the PDP guy was declared the winner the next day.

The PDP were in disarray as the results were coming in in favor of the APC candidate but when the PDP guy was declared as winner the next day, PDIgs started mocking the progressives on this forum.

My question is: how did INEC declare the PDP as the winner of that senate election when the APC had the highest vote? I am scared of INEC. It seems INEC is supporting status quo.

Honestly speaking, I have thought so much of visiting the US this year ending or in 2016 for more direct lectures especially as it concerns alternative methods. My sister who lives there had invited me last year but I was so busy with client's projects. I know there are many things to learn first hand, from bricks to wood to glass and even tiles. I will keep planning for a short trip, maybe for a month or two.
I must meet you whenever you decide to come to the U.S for a visit. We must take a trip to Home Depot and Lowes together few time and to some other home improvement stores. Just make sure you announce it in property section whenever you decide to come over.

I'm glad you like some of the designs. We need to encourage each other and explore different opportunities.

If Nigerian builders are so hell bent on using concrete then heck let's get on with it then grin

Stained concrete will be another way to save money since you won't have to tile or carpet (you'll just use area rugs in key areas).

Another idea of mine in my build will be to use wood or steel for staircase.

Also Oga Spyder how feasible is using styrofoam blocks with poured concrete to make exterior walls? You'll get guaranteed straight walls done in a few hours.

My invitation to Oga Spyder still stands, I will write an invitation letter (whatever value that holds with the embassy) and put you up for a week or two so you can see first hand the methods being used today. I'm happy to see that you're now considering aluminium parapet. When I say the elaborate labour it takes to set up the forms I knew it was totally a waste. There's more improvement that can be made.
I am not a fan of building staircases with all concrete as being done in Nigeria today. As you mentioned, there are other options of building stair cases. Woods, steel and cast concrete in conjunction with other materials. I have seen it all on www.houzz.com.

I like floor tiles a lot. Polished vitrified tiles and polished porcelain tiles are my favorites but I don't mind stained floor at all if done right. Tiles are not cheap. I am of the opinion that whenever you want to do to your house, it is better to use top of the line tiles for floors. I was brainstorming few days ago about the cost of tiling about 400 square meter house with polished vitrified tiles or polished porcelain tiles. By my estimate, it is going to cost around 2 Million Naira for floor tiles alone and close to 600,000 Naira for walls. That is without charges to install the tiles. In the case of stained floor, it is something one can learn. I have watched the process of doing stained floors on youtube. This is something a lot Nigeria won't mind taking as an option when it comes to flooring because it is a lot cheaper than tiles. It is aesthetic and easy to maintain.

Terrazzo is another option. As a matter of fact, it is the best. There are terrazzo designs on houzz.com that are out of this world. I still look forward to the day a terrazzo expert presents his expertise on nairaland property section for us to see.

About Styrofoam blocks poured with concrete, I believe this to be the best option for Nigerians in the long run; especially in the water logged areas. One of the advantages of the styrofoam concrete poured walls is that you don't have to plaster or paint your wall after it forms. I like the way the concrete comes out.

I really couldn't tell but I know one has a retractable roof over the atrium.

Oga Spyder, has stained concrete has made it to Nigeria yet? That's what I want.
I have so much in common with you when it comes to building homes. The pictures above are appealing to me as well. The stained concrete floor picture looks so nice. I once posted concrete stained floors on this forum and Hajj told me they have artisans who do them in Nigeria but I don't know how good the artisans in Nigeria are. I prefer those stained concrete to some tiles I see on this forum from time to time. Stained concrete floors are more durable than floor tiles.

I look forward to the day when I see artisans who are experts in concrete stained floors and terrazzo floors in Nigeria..
