Please stop thinking September based on my source the list will be released highest by next week and if any thing make it to delay above next week please just expect it after ASUU strike is over because ASUU has started challenging Oversees scholarships. Nigerian students may get prostrated when PTDF list is release. Wish everyone best of luck.

ASUU strike have nothing to do with PTDF scholarship. Government can only see the strike as a factor that can fuel its effort toward giving more scholarships mostly for causes that are not offered in our universities. Because of ASUU government will not pause its programmes. I was told yesterday that the scholarship is being delayed due to the insufficient forex with CBN. However, according to the source, things are nearly sorted out. Was even asked if ASUU strike is the cause of the delay, and the reply was that, what concerned PTDF with ASUU strike? That their overseas scholars are not attending Nigerian universities, and why ASUU strike will affect their schedules for OSS scholarship.
Let's just continue waiting patiently and most importantly don't forget prayer because the level of competition with PTDF scholarship is beyond one imagination.

The whole issue of this year's scholarship is confusing. Different stories from different angles, don't know why. If PTDF can't make it this year they should inform us so that we move on. I believe some applicants (including me) await the outcome of the interview for some other decisions. And this is August 7th already.

PTDF don cause wahala! The waiting is too much this year. The delay is unusual since 2018. I do hope PTDF will not compromise the selection process because all this delay only lead to addition and subtraction.
The attitudes of some of us in this forum seems there are newbies in the house. Because nairaland was not like this before. People used to remain calm and pass only information from genuine sources. But this time around anyone just relay information and claim a genuine source for it. Please let us be matured and wait patiently for the final list.
I believe the list will not exceed next week God willing, and the most important thing is for one to be among the successful applicants no matter how long the delay last.

Just got an info that the list was supposed to be out last Friday.
So hopefully, we should be expecting today.

I got this your information yesterday from a highly connected person that the shortlisted applicants were supposed to be contacted Friday last week. But the person himself told me he doesn't know the reason for the further delay. However, he assured me that it will be released any moment.

I think the whole idea of the PTDF scholarship is to train Nigerians abroad that they can come back home to come and impact directly in Nigerian Education and research.

Job is the problem in Nigeria. You may come back with your Msc or PhD and spend years without job. How can you impact when you are not given the platform to do so? It will be an absolute waste of knowledge.

Peoples' hope has just been raised unnecessarily. Look at the turn out of the people in this forum. It is not good for one to deceive such number of hopefuls. If you don't have genuine information to pass why not remain silent.

Those that were selected will be contacted today. I don’t know if the list will be publicly released yet but those selected should get emails today. So, keep checking your emails

That is the problem of the delay. Nigerian factor can easily influence the list. The more the list is delayed, the more will be the Nigerian factor.

I am afraid it is not just by a click. Because they do go through the statements of purpose of high ranking candidates and recommended candidates by the interview panels. Sha apart from the covid era this is taking longer than usual, but I believe they will release this week.

I Just deferred my admission this morning cos deadline for showing proof of funds and getting CAS for the school for September entry is this Friday.

You see? This is the situation almost everywhere. Especially for those Msc applicants. PhD applicants do have time because some schools have multiple entries for PhD, but for the Msc it is either September or February

PTDF doesn't try for this year's selection process. Something that can be done in less than a week is taking them to eternity. They computerized the entire selection process and all that is required to shortlist applicants is just a click. But don't know why the delay. And they are expecting people to start September session. Many will be left with only option to defer the scholarship. From all indication, the list may not even come out this week and next week is August. Kai! Nigeria for us. We pray to be among the successful applicants in the end.

Final list is not yet out and you are talking about documentation? Documentation is for the successful applicants sir.

Oga don't argue on this. Many of my students got it in 2019 and I was the one who documented them when PTDF comes to my school. We discussed extensively on the selection process for both undergraduates and postgraduates. May be they used aptitude test before, but as far as last set of beneficiaries is concerned, it was application performance PTDF used.

They don't interview undergraduates. They shortlist them directly from their applications performance using computer automatic ranking.

Which 1 month 1 week again? When we are in the 7th week from the day interviews were concluded.

Yesso they used to send mails weeekends, last year it was 8 august Sunday and it was exactly 1 month 2 weeks after the interview contrary to 2019 that came exactly 1 month after the interview.
Who knows ours might be 1 month 1 week before Monday.

I believe there is a staff of PTDF in this forum, judging from past experiences. They usually follow applicants/awardees forums mostly nairaland and WhatsApp groups.

Last year, we had 'reliable sources' who took it up to talk to the PTDF chairman directly shortly after his appointment was renewed before the list finally came out.

Probably many of them got the scholarship last year and aren't here now.

Just saying, if there is anyone with access or opportunity to talk to the executives at the PTDF office, kindly do. Talking to them also does a lot in making them release the lists quick when they see candidates' eagerness.

You don't need to tell me to take my mind of it, I already know all of that. I'm just being realistic that they may need to be pushed to do what has to be done on time.

This will be my major challenge if finally considered for the scholarship. I don't have my Msc. transcript, even during interviews, it was my progress report (issued by my department after course work) that helped me. Lucky for me the progress report included my CGPA. If finally selected, I have no option than to differ the offer because end to ASUU strike is not in sight. Sadly, one can't apply for admission without that transcript.

I think that happened in NITDA not PTDF sir. And if I could remember the scholarship exams were conducted under same government, it was the DG of the agency that was charged and he decided to cancel the scholarship for that year. I was the victim of that. The change of the DG was announced on the very day I had my exams.

That was one scholarship that was cancelled in the past when a new government came in.

Actually, I didn't have any insider information regarding such a timeline. All I know is that it takes PTDF 5 to 6 weeks after interview to publish the list of successful applicants.

You guys seem to be privy to insider information. Have you heard anything about the timeline for the awardee list?

They have stakeholders list which is entirely different from merit list.

May be is you that lacked idea on the selection process for PTDF scholarship sir. I could remember PTDF briefed us on their selection process during our induction last three years. Those variables that are being discussed here are the factors one needs to worry about, because if you can cross them you don't have problem, God willing. The other factors are not somethings of worry.
And even the invitation mails that were sent to the applicants stated it clearly that selection is based purely on one performance in interview. Why wouldn't people worry about their interview performance? All other things are just formalities if you get your interview very well.

I have been following this thread closely. And most people have no idea how ptdf do these stuffs. My brothers.. just pray and keep on praying. It is not about your waec or first class, just pray for grace. All this calculations and permutations are nothing. There is so much to ptdf selection than you think.

This kind of grace happens to ladies mostly. With just little effort, a lady can get the scholarship. But for men, hhmm you need to work extra hard.

That was then Oga. A very good o-level result is far better than first class this year. That is why everybody complain that the weight of o-level is too much. The determining factor is o-level now not class of degree.

Based on the sampling of last year's awardees, majority of the winners were first class candidates. So BSc degree matters a lot.

Probably their SOP wasnt succint and they didnt have membership nor publications.

I advise you to write O level like how many people rewrote to have A,s and win PTDF like how many people did.

MSC SCORING CRITERIA

The marks of O level is the second-highest: 30 marks
A for 6 points. 5 times 6 is 30

SOP total of 50 marks: It is impossible to score 50 marks overall. Only candidates that get recommended score 50 marks.

First degree 10 marks: First class 10 marks

Membership and Publication combined together: 10 marks

2 marks for each. Ensure they are 5 in no order to get the full marks.

PHD SCORING CRITERIA

The marks of O level is the second-highest: 30 marks
A for 6 points. 5 times 6 is 30

Research Proposal total of 40 marks: It is impossible to score 40 marks overall. Only candidates that get recommended score 40 marks.

First degree 10 marks: First class 10 marks
Masters 10 marks: Distinction, 10 marks

Membership and Publication combined together: 10 marks

2 marks for each. Ensure they are 5 in no order to get the full marks.

Pray that there are not many guru in your state. If you chose F/G/M, you have high chance of winning as many gurus with great score chose UK


I am a current PTDF Scholar.

The marking template I shared was for PhD in 2018, and I said they may decide to change it. Because some changes are made to the scoring template almost every year.
O-level marks for Msc was 30 in same 2018. I actually don't know the marking template for 2020 and this year as well.
