Nice comical narrative.

OP, your attempt at comedy made this whole matter some sort of a caricature.

Now, I don't really know if I should believe your story or just go back to my zanku dance.
If you check my previous posts, you'll understand my pattern of writing. No matter the situation, I'm never too serious.

Disclaimer: This is a true story. Ignore any comic relief that might make it sound like a joke, it's my way of writing such a sad experience without wetting my paper with tears.

It was meant to be a merry Christmas, but right now, I’m on my way to my mother’s village, in a deep forest in Ipetumodu, somewhere in the southwestern part of Nigeria, as I struggle with my loads while manoeuvring the busy Lagos routes in search of the cheapest means of transport.

Guess what? Someone, somewhere, somehow, just used my ATM details to move funds out of my account. Damn!!!

I feel down in the dumps with a sinking feeling. The issue of ATM card fraud is something that has always been on my mind. I actually wanted to blog about it, to give people proper orientation but never had the time.

My spirit warned me to be careful with my ATM card, but my nonchalant attitude finally landed me in the village, about to go join my grandpa in farm, probably would be uprooting cassava since this is harvest season.

You know, at times, I just wonder, this ATM card we carry about is very porous. But I often wave off the thought, I always thought I was thinking too far.

Here is the drill:

- Someone can easily get your ATM card details (card number, expiry date and Security), without asking you, especially at POS outlets.

- Someone with an average IQ level of 110 can easily cram all your ATM Card details within 30 seconds.

- Most times we don’t even pay attention to POS attendants so they have enough time and space to look thoroughly at your ATM card.

- Scammers won’t be able to use the ATM details on local payment processors since they mostly require card pin and OTP (in some cases).

- For some local payment processors, only the card pin is required to authorize transactions. And do you know that the POS attendant can actually figure out your pin by studying the movement of your finger as you input it in the POS machine? Are you always cautious while doing that?

- The big deal is, for international payment processors, most of them do not require pin or OTP. Just plug in any correct ATM card details. As long as there’s enough money in the account, the transaction will be authorized.

And that right there is the scam they pulled on me.

When Tunji, my classmate is primary 3 told me I was stupid, I was angry, I fought him, I didn’t believe. Not until this moment, I realized he was actually right.

With my face like wet weekend, down in the mouth, as I cry over my spilt milk, I feel you all have to be enlightened so you won’t land yourself in this kind of blue situation.

So, let me give you a brief summary of what I feel happened to me:

Probably out of recklessness, I left my ATM card sitting pretty in the hotel room while the cleaner had all the time in the world to write down the details, maybe, maybe not.

Or, out of greed to eat the fresh burger that just got delivered, I gave my ATM card to the POS dude to do whatever with it and leave me the hell alone to the burger. Giving him more than enough time to cram my card details.

Or, maybe it was at the filling station, gave the POS attendant my card as I throw away my face while I nod to the sweet rhythm of Kizz Daniel's album.

Those are the only three possible scenes I can think of. Not too sure how, who, got my card details.

Whichever, the lucky dude got my card details, he was happy, probably dancing zanku at the moment.

He must be a brilliant dude with some good knowledge of financial technology, he went ahead and plugged my ATM card details on some strange subscription website, Unbounce.com, to be precise.

Since the card has an international limit of $1000, he couldn’t go beyond that, so he was smart enough to do it right.

He picked the least plan ($79) and paid for 12 months, summing up to $948 with my ATM details!!!! My card!!! My money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was busy checking Toke Makinwa’s picture on Instagram when the debit alert flew in. I was about to wipe it off my screen for better concentration when I came to my senses like “is that not my life savings in one debit alert”?

Sigh! The die is cast. The worms in my stomach were as silent as the dead, guess they were confused too or they already knew they were going to die of hunger.

Here is the twist: I am sure the scammer does not need the unbounce subscription he used my dear card to pay for. And guess what he’s going to do? Request a refund. I am not sure how the platform works and if they will allow him get a refund to a completely different account. I have been trying to get across to their customer care agent but the customer agent dude did not seem to understand properly stated English grammar. I am still waiting for their reply to my mail.

Now, I know you will not cry for me, or cry with me, or give me my money back. I am writing this to show you how life can decide to deal with you if you are careless with your ATM card.

Now, what’s the resolution:

1. Limit the use of POS machines, and be close to the attendant when you do. Pay cash when possible.

2. You can get a separate ATM card for POS transactions. In which you only have limited funds that you can afford to lose without going back to village.

3. Do not leave your ATM card lying carelessly.

4. Do not respond to any text message that says “your ATM is blocked due to BVN… bla bla bla” jargons. They all share similar purpose.

5. Do not give anyone your ATM card or ATM card details.

I think this is a dumb trick and only extreme fools will fall for it. I know I’m foolish too, but not extremely, at least I wouldn’t fall for this.

I hope you learn from this and be as careful as possible. By the time you see this, I’ll probably be in the village already where there’s no internet connection. You can send me prayers and good wishes. I will be back when I make enough money to survive the city life. And who knows, I can become the greatest cassava farmer alive.

But look at the bright side; They say village girls like boys from the city, sounds so much like an advantage that I'm going to take.

Bye!

Jobs/Vacancies / Learn Wordpress Website Design - Free Ebook Guide - Fattkay by fattbabakay(m): 5:55pm On Nov 25, 2018
Every December, I think of a way of giving back to the online community being a place where I have gained a lot from. Last year, I was able to help a couple of individuals get started with online marketing on this thread, though most of them fell my hand.

This year, I was thinking of a way to give a piece of knowledge to people, then I realized I've not done much of writing this year, even on my blog. So I decided to write an ebook on an easy subject that is unknown to a lot of people. I concluded that learning web design without coding, using WordPress, is one hell of an easy skill that's in high demand in recent time, but quite underrated.

And here we are...

I'm Faturoti Kayode. I have written a FREE 80-page basic introduction to website design using WordPress and I am ready to give you for free. Nice?

ABOUT THE AUTHOR: I am A.K.A Fattkay. I am a 'passive income' enthusiast, a concrete internet marketer, a ruthless content writer, a prodigious website designer and a wondrous information tycoon. I do a lot of internet run around, and I share information whenever I'm feeling generous. You can check my Nairaland profile for some of my posts.

ABOUT THE EBOOK: I have specifically packaged this for total newbies. In this ebook, you will learn how to design a LIVE website using WordPress technology within few minutes with just 7000 Naira, Shawarma money, without writing a single line of code. The guide involves a step-by-step walkthrough using a live sample (Lasisielenu.com) and it is just 80 pages.

To support your learning process, I also attached an Udemy course and some other free WordPress resources.

Also, I have included some money making practices in the guide. I mentioned a couple of ways to make money using this knowledge.

So I can easily conclude that if you take it seriously, you will have reasons to thank me.

Thank me later.

Webmasters / Re: Whats The Key To Blogging? Constitency Or Long Posts? by fattbabakay(m): 10:34am On Oct 31, 2018
There are a lot of factors at play. Your niche, your goal, matters.

If your goal/target is SEO, then long posts are what you need. Though that’s not the only ranking factor, you have to work a lot on your backlinks and content uniqueness.

If you’re in a niche like entertainment, long posts are unnecessary but how you can maneuver the contents to make your visitors come back is important.

According to my personal statistics, 90% of people I know, who started blogging in 2018 have already given up. Why? Cos blogging is not for the weak.

I have written an awesome "how-to guide on earning $1k monthly on Upwork. Just buy my ebook and become your own boss. It doesn't matter what skill set you have. My book is the Bible of freelancing. It will teach you everything."

Naive as he is, he buys your book, reads a few chapters of the shabby work and chats you up for heads up.

What do you do? You blank him out.

Why? You know you have conned him into buying a useless ebook. His money is in the "akant." Time to look for other gullible fellows. You form eternally busy!

You hawkers of nonsense guides. Your judgment is close by. If you like use ten monikers to praise yourselves, we know you.

You guys are making it seem like this is a fight. I didn’t tell you to buy or not buy any guide. We all have individual opinions that will most likely differ. I dropped mine, if it differs from yours, you can drop yours too. No fight. Okay?

Some of those gurus only send ebook to the those who paid for their training and when you ask them questions, they behave as if you are disturbing them. They believe you should get everything from their ebook, which they didn't even write and I guess they don't fully understand. I am a victim of one of those so-called gurus. So you need to understand why I made that comment.
I can relate with this but you are having a wrong mentality.

You buying an ebook doesn't mean you're buying the writer. You should try to understand that a writer is a busy man, then you try as much as you can to extract every little detail from his guide. If you find anything confusing, you can easily google it. You should only consider contacting the writer for questions as the last resort and be patient and humble enough for him to reply.

But it's frustrating how ebook buyers will still keep lurking around your DM asking ridiculous questions that are either mentioned in the guide or they could have easily checked on google. Or asking you questions that are meant for customer support.

Quick tip: Most of these people who know a lot about internet businesses owe it all to google. Nobody brought any technique or strategy from heaven. They are just people who are good enough to manipulate google and then take extra time to practise and master the art. So you'll do yourself a very good help if you increase the amount of time you check google for solutions and open as many tabs as possible. With that, with time, you'll become a guru yourself.

Thanks for your time (If you read it grin )

If I can get 8k from many people, why do I need to earn from upwork.

Nigerians!
As much as I wanted to overlook this comment, I just think I have to reply.

I've been asked this question a couple of times and I believe it's quite rational. As in, since I claimed I make huge money from a practice, then why selling a guide to collect ridiculous stipends from others?

Pay attention...

Akin Alabi, the owner of Nairabet, is a billionaire but still compiles his knowledge in writing books and sells. Neil Patel, one of the best digital marketers in the world, regardless of his wealth, has loads of books on Amazon. Harsh Agrawal, owner of Shoutmeloud, despite his huge purchasing power, still sells ebooks for a few dollars.

Now, this is it...

Greatness is achieved by imparting knowledge in others. Believe me, the OP is indirectly creating challenges in form of competitions for himself the more he sells a guide to you. But some people find fulfilment in helping others get up the financial ladder, and since information marketing is a great way to help others, why not just do it?

It's a tough street out there, people are suffering due to lack of knowledge. And it hurts people who have knowledge and sympathy when they see how humans struggle in search of survival due to lack of information. And this is just their own little way of helping the small populace that's ready to be helped.

On a factual note, for a serious information marketer, whether you buy his guide or not, it's a win-win for him. If you see anyone begging you to buy his guide, then those are the people you should run from. The real ones will only make you see reasons why you should get it for your own advantage.

And lastly, no one will spend his days and nights to figure out a valuable means of making legit money, then come online and share you for free.

I hope I was clear enough.

I would like to use your servicesto make purchases, but I have some reservations and i'd like you to clear that.

I'm just wondering how long this will last for...

My reasons are: you are losing 60naira on every dollar
Eg: an item of 318usd, you lose N19,080 in exchange rate. (300/$ as against 360/$)

But then I see that the items purchased are paid for with gift cards on Amazon.

My questions are:
1. Hope the items are not being paid for with stolen or hacked gift cards,

2. Hope this is not an attempt to launder money by by offloading gift cards at low cost for naira equivalent.

Awaiting your response

If you wan order through am, order. If you no wan order through am, go to Amazon and pay yourself. Una like long talk.

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Legitimate Online Jobs In Nigeria by fattbabakay(m): 4:35pm On Apr 22, 2018
PS: Below is my personal opinion, it might be different from yours. It doesn't call for argument.

I won't start explaining most of the things you can do to make money online here as I have written a couple of posts about them in the past. If you feel like reading, you can go through the links below (not necessary):
1. https://hustle.ng/online-jobs-work-from-home-make-money-online-nigeria/
2. https://hustle.ng/guide-make-money-online-flp-nigeria/
3. https://hustle.ng/make-money-steemit-nigerian/
4. https://hustle.ng/online-jobs-work-from-home-make-money-online-nigeria/

However, there are two very important things you must know about making money online:

1. Making Money Online is NOT a Get-Rich-Quick Scheme

There’s a reason why there are only a handful of billionaires in the world (compared to the population), it’s hard to make money. In fact, after heaven, money is the most difficult thing to make. But when people come to the internet space seeking to make money, they seem to throw common sense out of the window and start thinking it’s easy to make money online and become online millionaires, all in six months. I get all kinds of messages from people telling me they’ve been blogging for two or three months and they haven’t made a dime. Usually, I’m blown out of the water by how easy people think it is to make money online. If it was that easy, everyone would be billionaires already.

Like everything else that’s worthwhile, it takes time, energy and lots of dedication to make money online. In fact, it can be harder to make money online than it is in a conventional way. But if you remain focused and keep learning always, make money you will.

Of course, there’s the rare case of people who suddenly explode onto the scene and make a lot of money in a little time. Usually, these people have exploited a loophole somewhere or have invested a lot of money to make a lot of profit in a short time. These people are the exception and not the norm.

So while it’s possible to make money online, you’re gonna have to hustle. Don’t come here thinking you can get rich quick, it’s not a ponzi scheme.

2. You Might NOT Make A Dime Online if You Have NO Valuable Skill/Knowledge To Offer

This is not totally true but it highly applies. It's not all about someone telling you what to do to make money online. What if you can't do it? A lot of people want to make money online but have nothing to offer. It’s equivalent to applying for a job, without any qualifications.

If you want to make money online you need to have something to offer, skills that people are willing to pay for. Whether as a marketer, a writer, a graphics designer, or anything else, you just need to have something to offer if you really want to make money online.

If you have no marketable digital skills, go learn one today.
