Police Arrest 53 Cultists In Abeokuta

BY DAUD OLATUNJI
ABEOKUTA-The Ogun State police command said on Tuesday that it has
dislodged no fewer than 53 student cultists of Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta, while on their way to the venue of a nocturnal ritual ceremony in Abeokuta.

Vanguard gathered that the state branch of the National Association of
Seadogs, popularly called Pyrates’ Confraternity, hinted the police who laid an ambush for the suspected student cultists at about 11:30pm last Friday around Lafenwa/Rounda area of the state capital.

Confirming the development, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi said that the police received information that some suspected student cultists were planning to hold a ceremony in a suburb of the state capital.

Adejobi, however said that suspected student cultists ran away on sighting the police patrol team deployed in the area.

“They are not a social club. The police will not allow any anti-social group or organization to operate in the state. If anybody is caught, he would be made to face the full wrawth of the law,” Adejobi said.

However, a source told our correspondent that the suspected student cultists were however said to have left their vehicles as well as other items and fled in different directions on sighting the police patrol team deployed to apprehend them.

The source said that, some of the items recovered from the fleeing suspected student cultists included coolers filled with already prepared food and assorted drinks meant for the ceremony.

It was gathered that the student cultists allegedly who took off from Obantoko area, few kilometers from FUNAAB were also said to be driving towards the venue of the initiation ceremony in a convoy of about 50 vehicles when the police patrol team accosted them.

Also, the President of NAS in Abeokuta, Mr. Yemi Akintunde warned students not to allow themselves to be deceived into joining any cult group.

Akintunde stressed that the Pyrates’ Confraternity which he described as a humanitarian and charitable organization has since the 1980s ceased to exist on the campuses of higher institutions across the country.

“Anyone interested in joining NAS must have graduated from school and is also required to have participated in and have the certificate of the National Youth Service Corps. The Pyrates’ Confraternity does not exist on the campus of any higher institution in Nigeria,” he said.

quid: @Faun: well done. Thanks for all the info.

You're welcome, homey. Cuz you know, if we don't treat these re.t.ards and their lies early enough, they might just begin to believe their own self-delusions and try to pass them off as "fact". Just the same way they cooked up that lie about being the 'most educated' and kept spinning it for years until statistics came out to expose them as nothing but pathetic liars and stark illiterates on the same level with the North.

4 Cultists Arrested After Bloody Clash In Agbara

Four suspected cult members were on Tuesday arrested by detectives attached to the Agbara Division of the Ogun State Police Command. They were arrested when the police swooped on their den at Igbesa Agbara in Ado Odo Otta Local Government Area.

The rival cult groups in the area had engaged themselves in a battle leaving one Adeyemi Yomi,22, a student of the Gateway Polytechnic Igbesa dead on Monday, August 11. The spokesman of the Ogun State Police Command, DSP Muyiwa Adejobi disclosed that “following a manhunt by the police, one Ologunlagba Timilehin, 21, a confessed member of the National Association of Airlords was arrested by the police”.
Adejobi described the arrested cultist, Timilehin, as a strong member of the confraternity which had engaged some Doro Confraternity members in a gun battle for some hours before they were checkmated by the police. He also stated that the arrest of the suspect led to the arrest of additional three members of these groups who are helping the police in its investigation. Street Journal’s findings revealed that Airlord is a code name used by members of the Supreme Eiye Confraternity to identify their members while “Doro” is a derogatory term used by rival cultists for members of the Buccaneer Confraternity. The term was coined from the Yoruba name for buckets.

The three other suspects arrested are Anifowose Adewumi,, 21, Ekundayo Oladapo,30, and Aina Owolabi.
While assuring that efforts are in top gear to apprehend fleeing members of the groups, Adejobi told Street Journal that “the Ogun State Police Command had, before now, declared a war on cult groups in Ogun State and arrested more than 200(two hundred) cultists belonging to various groups in major cities in Ogun to include Sagamu, Ijebu Ode, Ibafo, Otta etc,and were charged to courts accordingly”.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police Ogun State CP Ikemefuna Okoye has ordered the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Agbara Division to transfer the matter to the Department of Criminal Investigation, Eleweran Abeokuta for thorough investigation.

The Commissioner has vowed to continue the fight against cultism in Ogun State.

Cultists, Security Guard Rape Undergraduate In Ekiti

Four suspected members of a cult group and a security man at a private polytechnic in Ekiti State have been arrested for allegedly gang-raping a student of the institution.

The rape victim (name withheld), who is an ND 1 student of the polytechnic, told PUNCH Metro at the Ekiti State Police Command headquarters in Ado Ekiti on Wednesday that the suspects stormed her room, tied her up and took turn to rape her.

The four suspected rapists are Kunle Aralepo 20, Oluwaseun Akomolafe, 23, who are ND II students of Business Administration and Kehinde Adeyemi and Ayo Olomola, who are on the run.

The victims added that one of the boys had asked her out and she refused.

She also accused one of the security men in the polytechnic, Mr. Seyi Adanbioje, of raping her the same day at his residence.

The victim said the Chief Security Officer of the school directed Adanbioje to take her to police station to make an official report of the rape case.

She said after leaving the station, the security man took her to his residence and also forcefully had sex with her.

The security man, however, denied raping the female student. He explained that he granted the girl an “asylum” because she said she could not sleep alone in her house.

He said, “She could not sleep alone because she was afraid that those who had earlier raped her might come back again.”

The Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Victor Babayemi, who paraded the suspects, said police investigation had shown that rape cases had been rampant at the institution.

He said the police were still probing such cases of rape and why they were not reported to the police.

Babayemi said the police would thoroughly investgate the fresh rape incident and allow justice to take its course.

The PPRO said, “A group of four young men namely, Aralepo Kunle, Akomolafe Oluwaseun (both ND II Business Administration students), Kehinde Adeyemi and Ayo Olomola, aka AY Bishop, who was expelled from the school in March for rape went to the house of a female student of the polytechnic, broke her door to gain entry, tied her hands and legs and gang-raped her.

“They also robbed her of her phone and the sum of N5,000.00. A security guard at the polytechnic, Seyi Adanbioje, 28, was also found to be part of the gangsters. He was told to take the girl to the police station and make a report but he took a detour to his house, where he also raped the victim.”

He said medical report confirmed that the victim was raped.

In a similar case, the police said the proprietor of a private primary school, Mr. Ibitoye Babatunde, who was arrested for allegedly raping an 11-year-old pupil of his school, had a case to answer.

Ajibade, who denied the accusation, said a man who saw him while entering into a bush to defecate demanded money from him and he threatened to deal with him if he refused.

He said he refused and the hoodlum raised the alarm which attracted a crowd.

But the PPRO said the medical report confirmed that the girl’s hymen had been broken.

The police also paraded two commercial motocyclists (okada riders), who were accused of raping a young lady.

The PPRO said the suspect – Babatope and Oluwasusi Tope- gave the girl a free ride and took her to another place where she was raped.

In a related development, the police also said that a 17-year-old boy had been arrested for defiling a three-year-old girl.

11 LASU Students Arrested With Guns

The Lagos State Police Command Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, has arrested eleven cult members who claimed to be students of the Lagos State University, LASU.

•The suspected LASU cultists.

They were nabbed at Ijanikin, a suburb of Lagos along Lagos/Badagry Expressway, Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria.

A police source told P.M.NEWS that two members of Eiye Confraternity had hired a commercial motorcyclist (okada rider) to take them to Ijanikin where they shot a rival cultist, a member of Aiye Confraternity.

The okada rider, after the shooting, contacted SARS operatives who arrested the suspect’s accomplice identified as Wasiu.

The cultist, who fired the shot managed to escape, but Wasiu led policemen to the hideout of the cultists at Ijanikin, where other cult members were arrested, the police source revealed.

According to the source, items recovered from the suspected cultists include three locally made cut to size rifles, one black bag, one locally made pistol, one live cartridge, four axes, one cutlass, one black beret and one phone.

Those arrested include Amos Acholo, 25, an indigene of Kogi State who claimed to be a businessman but a part-time student of LASU; Ojo Ola-Oluwa, 28, from Osun State, Olupooye Foluso, 27, claimed to be a student of Political Science at LASU, Haruna Olanrewaju, 28, from Kwara State said he is not a LASU student but joined the cult because he is jobless and Ismail Alli, 24, claimed he is a businessman from Sokoto State and he dropped out of school. Others are: a 23-year old Malian, Jiba Abdulahi who said he is into business; Adeyinka Phillips, 25, claimed to be a Lagos State indigene and a student of Computer Science at Lagos State Polytechnic; Edeh Michael said he attended Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education, Ijanikin while another suspect, Irikivewe Charles told the police he is still struggling for admission.

Another member of the cult group, Udemeobong from Cross River State, said he is a 200 level student at LASU. He confessed to the police that he was initiated into the cult last year when he visited his friend in Benin City, Edo State.

Police sources told P.M.NEWS this morning that the suspected cultists will soon be arraigned in court on charges of attempted murder.

Meanwhile, the victim who was shot by the suspects is still lying critically ill in an undisclosed hospital.

He was said to be having a swollen stomach perhaps caused by bullets lodged in his belly.

When P.M.NEWS called the Public Relations Officer, of LASU students’ union, Teju Azeez, this morning, he disowned the suspects, saying “they are not LASU students.”

Later,I put a call across to some of my friends and his friends and I was told that he has paid his own price.I requested to know what that means,I was told that he too has been killed in the way he and his people have been killing others.

Dreaded Cultists Invade Major Towns In Ogun

There is an indication that residents of major towns in Ogun State, such as Ijebu-Ode, Ago-Iwoye and Sagamu, no longer sleep with both eyes shut as a result of the activities of members of secret cults.

CRIME DIGEST investigations show that most natives of these towns live in constant dread of these cultists, whose activities assumed an alarming dimension in 2011 and resulted in the deaths of innocent and law-abiding citizens.

During Christmas, a palpable atmosphere overhung parts of Ijebu-Ode, particularly in Alapo, Ita-Itebo, Ondo, and Imoru roads, believed to be strongholds of cultists and scenes of bloody confrontation between rival gangs in the past. And frightened residents reacted nervously to the sounds of fire crackers, often mistaking them for loud reports of gunfire.

A large concentration of the hoodlums, most of who dropped out from tertiary institutions in Ogun and were allegedly recruited by politicians during the last general elections to work for them as political thugs, in Ijebu-Ode and Sagamu, has engendered a deep feeling of insecurity among the residents of those towns.

The same thugs have taken to extorting money from commercial transport operators and harassing other law-abiding people everywhere in the state. These cultists are known to keep the scores or count of the people they have killed.

A highly-placed security official in the state on Wednesday confirmed the surge in the activities of cultists.

He said, “We have in our custody a 19- year-old leader of a secret cult. This is to tell you how bad the situation has become. Recently, a cultist walked up to a young woman he was trying to woo.

“The youth must have said something that provoked the young lady to anger. And she slapped him. The boy went to call for reinforcement. When he returned, he did not meet the girl. So, he picked up two of her friends.

“These boys publicly humiliated these girls by stripping them naked. As if that wasn’t enough, some of the boys inserted lighted cigarettes in the private parts of the girls. They did this in the full view of the public. We have arrested some of those boys, but the fact remains that they need to be checked.

“Most of the young men we arrest for being in possession of small arms are usually members of secret cults. With the support of educational institutions and parents, I am sure we would be able to put a stop to cultism in the state.”

CRIME DIGEST gathered that membership of these cults groups is no longer exclusive to students of tertiary institutions in the state, but open to just anybody that is willing to be committed to the groups.

A commercial motorcycle operator in Ijagun area of the state, known as Tiepo, told our correspondent that the only pre-requisite for admission into some of the secret cults in Ogun is courage.

Tiepo said, “Unlike the past, you do not need to be an undergraduate to join a scret cult. All you need is raw courage.”

He said that membership of the cults was open to taxi drivers, okada riders, ticketing officers, artisans, even street urchins.

Tiepo said the cultists usually hired the services of okada riders whenever they were on clandestine missions. Some of the motorcyclists actually joined the cults out of fear or ignorance.

He said, “On two occasions, I was forced to take some of them to their meetings. This people are terrible. During the tenure of former Governor Gbenga Daniel, a young man would mount a motorcycle with his gun on his lap and nobody would stop him.

“This made those of us that are okada operators to be wary of the kind of passengers we carry. We hardly pick up two passengers at a time and we avoid anyone carrying a bag. It has affected our business in the past.

“One day, I picked up a young man, who looked harmless to me until I saw his gun. I was very frightened and I decided not to carry him again, but he cajoled me. I had no choice but to obey him.

“Some of my colleagues were not as lucky; they got their own motorcycles snatched. Some even said they witnessed murders but were afraid to report the cases for fear of their life.”

But Tiepo noted that most of the cultists and those behind criminal activities in the areas mentioned were not indigenes of Ogun State.

“Most of these people are not from Ogun. They come from Lagos and Oyo states. When they commit crimes and they are declared wanted by the police, they run to Ogun and hide till the heat cools off,” he said.

A youth, who had renounced his membership of an unnamed secret cult, said majority of the notorious cultists used to converge on Olabisi Onabanjo University in Ago-Iwoye until the school shut for a long while.

As a result of the closure of the OOU, the cultists moved to Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijagun, Ijebu-Ode. The former cultist described a top ranking member of staff of the institution as a patron of the secret cult who helped to coordinate most of their activities.

Another source at TASUED confirmed this and said cultism was rampant in the university until the authorities decided to clamp down on the activities of cultists in 2010. As a result, most of the cultists fled to the institution’s College of Education in Omu.

The source said, “Where do these students obtain sophisticated weapons? They are given to them by politicians. They are on the payroll of some politicians in the state.

“When they are done, they dump these students. The management’s re-organisation drove these boys out. The vice-chancellor has zero tolerance for cultism.

“Suspected cultists are either rusticated or suspended, depending on the gravity of their offence. The measure adopted by the Senate, which is supporting the institution’s security, is yielding dividends. The cultists still exist on campus, but they have gone underground now.”

A student of OOU, who lives on Mini-Campus Road, says clashes between rival cult groups are still common in Ago-Iwoye.

He says, “Cultists still constitute a nuisance to other law-abiding citizens and fellow students here. They target rival cult groups and in the process, cause confusion in the town.

“They rarely disturb on campus. Most of their killings and clashes take place outside the university, though some of the cultists hide on campus. It is worse in Ijebu-Igbo because that is the base of the Eiye Confraternity. About 20 per cent of the cultists in Ogun State live in Ago-Iwoye. They include the Buccaneers, Eiye, Mafia, Pirates and .”

The spokesman for the Ogun State Police Command, Mr. Muyiwa Adejobi, told our correspondent that the police were aware of the surge in the activities of secret cults in the state. He said, “But this case is peculiar to Sagamu and Ijebu-Ode. Most of the cultists in Sagamu are not undergraduates. When they commit crime, they run to their base.

“In the past, only university students were regarded as cultists. It is no longer so. However, most of the cultists in Ijebu-Ode are students. Cultists are more in Ijebu-Ode because there are many schools there.

“Cultism is not like armed robbery or murder. So, one has to be careful about dealing with it. We are tackling the issue and we are working closely with the tertiary institutions in the state. We are also working with traditional rulers to help in curbing the menace. We need the help and support of parents, schools and lecturers.”

Suspected Cultists Kill OOU Lecturer

BY DAUD OLATUNJI
ABEOKUTA— Tragedy struck, yesterday, at the Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Ago-Iwoye, in Ijebu North area of OgunState when a lecturer, Dr Segun Onabanjo, was shot dead by suspected cultists.

Onabanjo who until his death was a senior lecturer at the Department of Sociology in the university, was said to have been killed by the assailants who stormed his residence in Odomolasa area of Ilese-Ijebu and broke into his home at about 1:00 a.m.

Vanguard gathered that while his assailants were attempting to break into his house, he was reportedly shouting “e bami gbe ibon mi (kindly bring me my gun)” to his kids and relatives in an attempt to scare away the armed men.

The gunmen eventually, in the wee hours, shot the lecturer dead and carted away some personal items.

It was learnt that the body of the deceased had been desposited at the mortuary.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Muyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the killing, saying the command was on the trail of the suspected killers who escaped through a nearby bush and would do everything possible to bring them to justice.

The police spokesman said some of the suspects sustained injuries in the gun duel and urged members of the public to promptly report anybody found with bullet wounds to security agents.

“The incident was quite unfortunate. The police command is seriously investigating this case and the suspects would be brought to justice. We are already working on some leads; the police combed the area and found blood stains at the back of the house of the lecturer. The police traced the blood and hopefully, it will help in this case,” he said.

Adejobi appealed to residents to be careful in handling such crime situation, saying they should be wary of showing off even if they have firearms.

He called on medical doctors in the state to alert the command in case they notice anyone with gun wounds in their hospitals.

Now my ever humble slave, first and foremost ur mister was shocked seeing u cry like a kiddo just because i didn't put ur name up there

You wish, boy, but unfortunately, that harsh truth is still too hard to swallow. All the years I've visited Nairaland, when forum members have their birthdays, their threads are usually opened by their friends and loved ones who wish them well (You can check around if you doubt me). But in your case, AdamStupido, you're the one on Nairaland by 1:00AM, opening a thread dedicated to yourself and begging Nairalanders to come say hi. You claimed you had 'close friends' - but if these 'close friends' were so 'close', they definitely would have been close enough to take note of your birthday and open the thread for you, no? grin
Looks like you're still finding it difficult to accept you're a total loser grin

( well! U ain't worth it, u are inferior, so it is a taboo for ur name to be listed among theirs, cos u are inferior to a bacteria grin grin grin )

Free English lesson for you: It's "a BACTERIUM", dumbass. "Bacteria" IS plural.
If you're going to insult me, shouldn't you at least try getting your grammar right? Oh, no wait, don't tell me - you're probably going to shamelessly claim I edited your post again, right? Illiterate. grin

Seeing that u were disappointed and frustrated, i summoned u ,as a lord, to that other thread, but u were scared to approach ur mister ,so u ran back to this thread, but as a humble owner, i came after u to examine ur situation cos my companions made me believe that u have a subnormal intellectual capacity and u baldy need the help of someone studying abnormal psychology grin grin ,it is out of pity for u that i came back here, for u, my loyal slave grin

Hurt little boy still trying to heal his shattered ego. I told you right from the start that the pleasure was all mine.
I came in and HAPPILY derailed your thread, and there was NOTHING you could do about it, because you were a powerless little wimp! grin
YOU kept crying and complaining to the moderators but they IGNORED you because they knew you were a m0ron grin
To add insult to injury, when you opened your thread, that same Farrano humiliated you by deleting it! Talk about painful shame grin
You ran back here because you had no choice, and you were tired of getting disgraced left, right and center. Swallow the truth for it shall set you free.

I ordered mukinatu to delete that thread, since it is of no use, as my slave was so scared to approach me grin
Look at the loser lying again. Have you forgotten you initially accused me of reporting your thread to the mods?
See:
adamskutty: fvctard! U had to report to the mod grin
Don't be scared, we can meet here grin

You see how shameless you are? You can't even be consistent with your pathetic lies. First you claimed I reported to the mods, now you're claiming you ordered Mukinatu to delete it.
Boy, face the harsh truth - The moderators identified you as a stark illiterate, and did the needful by scrapping your piece-of-sh11t thread. Plain and simple.

From the on set, u claimed to be a working class graduate, thanks for proving ur mister right, that u are nothing but a roadside umbrella repairer, cos u have been entertaining me since 6 am down to last night and up till this very moment, and yesterday and today are working days grin grin grin grin grin grin , i only came online around 2pm since yesterday grin grin grin .

See the illiterate disgracing himself again grin
Okay, so if I really were a roadside umbrella repairer, would I be able to post on the internet in the first place? grin No yawa on that side sha. Na still job e be, so I'm not even offended, as I've come across many umbrella repairmen and vulcanizers who possess far better grammatical competence and comprehension than a crack-dullard like you, the so-called uni student.
Like your poor grammar has given you away, your fate has already been sealed that you will crash out with a "Pass" (not even a 3rd class). Keep fooling yourself on Nairaland instead of studying and reevaluating your worthless life cheesy

now that our audience have known who is jobless and worthless btn the two of us, i as a caring lord have decided to give you a job in this thread, ur reward shall be one slice of bread, for u poor old fellow grin

There the m0ron goes again. grin Are you also going to claim I'm editing your posts like you're shamelessly editing mine?

And ehmmm, before i forget , remember that i hard earlier complained that ur post are too short and not entertaining enough, to prove to everyone that u are really my slave and that u answer only to me, u made this one long, well punctuated and exciting, u do all ur best to please ur owner grin grin grin grin
So u see u are the slave here and you obey only me, and will continue to obey me by quoting this post and help to keep this thread alive , u must sacrifice ur sleep and time ( u are even worthless to time and a waste of space grin ).
Watch out everyone and see whether my slave will dare to disobey me grin grin he can't, cos he is just like a programmed robot grin

Too bad you forget your reply was already on my request as the slave you are.
Remember this?
Faun: Now, as my slave you are, I want you to reply this post real soon enough, cos I'm waiting.
Don't forget to lace it with more of your poorly-constructed grammatical junk as usual. I can't wait to read and laugh at the Birthday Boy getting disgraced on his own birthday grin
And you did just that, slave grin
