Oh ok. I understand you now. teesboy: in the background section there are three questions
2a. the answer is no as i presume you have never stayed beyond your status validity if you have had a prior canada visa or never had one
2b. have you ever been refused a visa or permit, ordered to leave canada - the answer is yes as you have been refused a study permit before
2c. have you previously applied to enter or remain in Canada - The answer is no as you have never applied to enter Canada at any border post/port of entry nor applied from inside Canada to stay/remain in any category |

Ok. For family ties in Canada and country of residence. Do you have family in Canada? If no, did you include a proof that you have strong family ties here? U can proof that by providing all the birth certificates and passport data page of your siblings and parents. Also submit some pictures of you with siblings and parents. Personal asset and financial status. Were you able to proof that you have assets? If you are the first son, you can get your dad prepare a letter stating you are going to take over the management of the hotel on your return from Canada. Also how Gud was your sop? Were you able to explicitly explain how this program will help you on your return to Nigeria? Then for purpose of visit. This comes in when the vo isn't convinced that your primary aim is to study in Canada. It's normally advisable that you choose a pg program directly related to what u studied at ug level. If you can't do this, then you must prepare a very strong sop to explain the reason for the change in your career path. Also explain on your sop if you have had any study gaps. Finally, try to include docs to proof that your dad owns the hotel and also some additional landed properties docs. Travel history shouldn't Rili come up if you can sort out the other reasons for denial. IMHO phrancisco: My profile Got admission for international business management( graduate certificate)at fanshawe college Documents submitted Study application document Family information documents Letter of acceptance Sponsor SOA (12.5M) My Dad Proof of business documents of Sponsor( He owns a hotel) Tax clearance 2 land documents Half tuition fee receipt Academic documents Statement of purpose Sponsor letter Shares document from the company showing I own part shares in d company Company reference letter( i work in my dads hotel as the manager since 2013) Police character certificate Personal SOA (450k) Age :26 Ps: I studied zoology at d undergraduate level but wanted a switch into a business line that's why I applied for the course and also considering the fact I have been running the business for over 2years now. @thebae @thesoj @favour0011 @richcasey

Ok thanks .... Very helpful info! thesoj: Yes your friend can reapply so long as his new application is different from the previous one. It will not be an automatic rejection assuming your friend at least meets their minimum requirements. I have friends who reapplied and got admitted into schools that initially declined them an offer. |
Travel › Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by favour0011: 8:16pm On Aug 20, 2015 |
Thanks! ayooluwatoni: Memorial University of Newfoundland. But it's not about the cgpa alone. Sometimes they require that u have at least "B" in your last two sessions of UG program. Then your SoP is also a major factor, i think it's more important than ur cgpa sef..... just take your time to carefully read through the department's minimum requirements. I wish you best of luck |

So guys.... Is it possible to repackage and refire Canadian universities too? Abi na only cic den de refire.. Lol! This person met all the criteria and still got refused. He likes the school cos the location is advantageous to him so he is planning to repackage ad refire this time with an sop which wasn't included the first time as it's not a criteria in the sch. So do you think it will be an outright refusal or he stands a chance this time? Any personal experiences in the house? |

Which university and program pls? Thanks ! ayooluwatoni: Stand to be corrected though, but you will get it even if you have less than 3.5. Know of someone who got it with cgpa less that 3.5 |

I don't get it. Are you talking about spousal work permit (sowp) or express entry (ee). One of the conditions for sowp is that the applicants spouse is based in Canada either as a citizen, pr or student . I stand to be corrected tho. Please enlighten us. Supermum: @ hayqinsbfx, I'm sorry about your delay. You've been very helpful on this thread and I trust that you'll get your heart's desire very soon.
@ bimbofela, we applied for a SOWP not a visiting visa. I also thought I had to be a registered student before we could apply for the SOWP but minnietope's testimony encouraged us to apply |

Well.... I already submitted my application and I left the space for room and board blank and put 10k on the space for others. Since I already had a letter from my host stating he'll accommodate and feed me altru my studies.... I felt that including money for room and board on the form could jeopardise my app. thesoj: Hey I just had another thought. Why not just write $10k in the "Room &Board" box and leave "Others" blank? You would then explain in the " Explanation of Finances" that your relative is hosting you (with relative's letter attached) but that the $10k under room and board would also cover incidentals.
I just feel like leaving "Room &Board" blank could raise initial concerns. Hope I haven't confused you further |
Travel › Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by favour0011: 8:27pm On Aug 15, 2015 |
What if the applicant already has his accommodation sorted out. like his relative gives a letter that he will accommodate him altru his stay in canada. thesoj: @obiscolly Don't leave that box blank o! The VO may assume you are saying you don't have money for room/board. Or it may cast doubt about your finances in the VO's mind. Don't leave your fate to the VO's arbitrary interpretation, try to be unambiguous and specific about all important detail. My sister left that box blank on her first application and was rejected for insufficient funds, even with lots of money on the bank statements.
I recommend putting $10k under room/board and then put another amount (even if small, e.g. $3k) in the "other" box. |

Transcripts are meant to show raw scores and grades of all courses offered.this is actually the first time am hearing a university inputing just the grades on transcripts. Inkblood: the problem is that nigerian transcripts show grades A,B,C etc instead of scores. 70, 60, etc. are you saying that when filling the wes IGPA we should fill in the equivalent from the head? A=75 B = 70 C = 60 D = 50 E= 40 F= 39 is that what you are saying? i am pretty sure i am wrong sha. |

Hi, how much did you spend all together for the evaluation? TheBae: Nah.. maybe a 2point. Could go to like 2.7 or 2.8 or thereabouts (just a rough estimate, it may be higher or lower) but i think the last 2 years are the most important for admission so you can do a course by course evaluation if you like, it costs abit extra though but for mine, some Cs changed to Bs cos they use the score for each course and reevaluate each of them |

Congrats to you sis. How much did she have in her soa and her sponsors? Did she pay upfront tuition? thesoj: Ok here's a summary:
SECOND APPLICATION (deferred admission to Jan 2016) Submitted: July 28 (same upfront medicals) Approved August 12
For the second application, we bombarded them with like 100 pages of financial documents and then created a one-page Letter of Clarification (different from the SOP) that concisely described the new evidence. In this letter we had a section titled "Reasons for Prior Refusal" and another titled "Substantive Changes in this Application" and then enumerated the changes in this application. In the first app, we had used a printout of the sponsor's online bank statement, and my sis also left blank the box for "room and board" in her Study Permit form. She had added the "room and board" amount and put it the "Other" category. I now believe that it is important to fill the CIC forms as perfectly as possible, to not cause any doubt.
For the second app, we transferred one year's worth of tuition and living expenses to her university student account at Carleton, and attached the receipt. Her sponsor (brother) lives in the US, so this time the sponsorship letter/affidavit were notarized, and original as well as bank-certified bank statements were also sent. We also included a spreadsheet titled "Available Funds vs Annual Expenses" detailing every estimated expense and every fund available. She included her personal SOA as well. Many thanks to @HayqinsbFX for his answers to my questions when I just joined this thread just a month and half ago (the spreadsheet thing was his idea). Many thanks to @standupguy and @ada4all whose gcms files gave initial insight into what the VOs might have been thinking in this "insufficient funds" case. I pray that your applications will get great results as well.
By the way I am so surprised that applications submitted physically in Accra have a much faster processing time (two and half weeks average for both my sis's applications) than ones submitted in Lagos. This is nuts.
FYI I will still be on this thread as I will be helping another sibling with Canada runs. I hope my sister getting her TRV doesn’t hurt his chances o. We go see. |

its usually a red flag having a visa and not using it. i had a uk visa early this yr with no intentions of travelling with it, but i eventually had no choice when i was advised that it would be a red flag if i dnt use it as canadian VOs might think i didnt have money to travel and even getting a uk visa in the future would be difficult except i write to the high commissioner giving reasons for not using it. However u can sort this out with an explicit SOP Graviton2: Thanks, boss.
Yeah, I agree STRONGLY with you...Canada and Australia are top on my list right now.
Do you think an unused US F1 visa can get in the way of one acquiring a Canadian TRV? |

As regards your refusal on grounds of family ties in canada. who do you have in canada? [quote author=Dazlinga post=36913080]I was delayed last month for the second time, i was going in for an Undergraduate program. And the reasons were, personal assets and finance, purpose of visit, hometie in Canada. All i have to say is, all those who have recently been delayed shouldn't be discouraged, cross your T's and dot your I's and refire. For me i was stubborn with the undergraduate thing. My friends warned me to take a PGD, but i just feel say i go chop 2 years TRV. Well i now have a January 016 PGD, and i am hoping to refire. Just want the Gurus in the house to help analyse the following documents which i have to submit via Paper route come September first week. |

My exact toughts .... I actually got same mail that my application has been dispatched to Lagos office. Are you going for fall or winter 2016? jesscaxt: I disagree, especially at the person who said all applications are processed in Ghana.
I also have CALA in my tracking number and the text I got says my application has been sent to the canadian visa office Lagos.
I got a call from them recently to confirm some info in the application and it was from a Lagos landline and I googled to confirm it was real and the address that comes with that landline is their Lagos office. So yea some applications are actually processed in Lagos or so I think.
I'm still yet to get a medical call up tho. Submitted online 30th of June. Fingers crossed. |
