AMODU RECOVERING FROM SURGERY As his future is being debated by the NFF executive committee in Abuja, Nigeria coach Shuaibu Amodu is recovering from knee surgery he did while in South Africa. The under fire coach has been suffering from a knee problem for a while but did not have the time to go in for surgery. However, when he stopped by in South Africa to visit with defender Yusuf Mohammed, the knee issue flared up and he decided to tell the doctors about it. Amodu was promptly admitted and taken in for surgery, which went without incident. The coach, who is expected to be fired Friday, is now back home and recuperating. http://www.kickoff.com/static/news/article.php?id=13758 |

Kardinal Offishall with another single (We Gon Go) off his up coming album -Mr International. I'm feeling this track and defo this guy has improved with his non stop distinctive reggae and dancehall-influenced style of hip-hop flow and the catchy hook. Darryl Riley provided the soulful vocal. Canadians stand up! ![]() PS: I'm angry though that the guy did not mention PAC and Biggie on this track (or did I miss it?) [flash=438,428] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hFlirmfRUWs[/flash] |

Really out of my comfort zone to do it but i really want to know if he feels the same, then we can move on either way. I have had positive vibes from him and then weird reactions to my presence as well, but i just am not sure. I really need to know and i have decided life is too short to wait and wonder for ever. @Eldee, honeric01 - Abeg can you guys stop the name calling/insults etc? Thanks. ![]() @Eldee, I've battled honeric01 on the subject of Guus Hiddink and I think I made him to realise that Guus Ivanovic did wonders with the russian team and still contracted to them till this summer. He took them to the 3rd place match of the Euros and that is their best result in modern times. (spanning more than 20 years). To say Amodu is better than Guus is a CRIME! A coach is as good as his last result - by this I mean - a coach is deemed a "failure" if he fails to meet his target but again, we all know that there are many other factors that contributes to this aside the ability of the coach himself. What is paramount here is not just the result but his performance/career - i.e his CV. If going by Hiddink's CV, then sorry who is Amodu? In the words of JM - A lucky coach is better than a good coach but how far can the SE ride their luck? The time to get a new coach for the WC is pretty short but does that mean that we should support a tactically redundant coach? Are we going to the WC to make up numbers? My hope is that if Sia1 takes over, at least maybe he will select not only the younger and more energetic players but also home based since Sir Amodu feels nothing good can come out of our league. |
What is all these? ![]() Abeg guys/ladies relax oo. Haha. . . ki lo de? This is the Sports board for bleeping sake!!! |
I'm tempted to say you try but let me ask, is this about Nigerian football and our local league or something else? Take your fixtures as examples. You won't see a fixture of our local league on any EPL website, how come Chelsea vs Arsenal is on yours? https://i48.tinypic.com/sfld1y.jpg |

Osaze: First Eagle Standing He was bold enough to label Amodu’s Angola tactics as RUBBISH right in front of him Arguably Nigeria’s topmost striker by current standards, Osaze Odemwingie is proving his value not only in the technical area required of him – field of play – but also outside it where a strong voice is needed to help stay the course of the Super Eagles and that of the Nigerian game at the international level. This he proved beyond all reasonable doubt in a meeting that the Nigeria Football Federation held with the team before they left Angola. A source at the meeting said: "Osaze stood up and asked that the NFF hire a foreign coach for the team. Other players who spoke at the meeting included Kanu and Obafemi Martins." With everyone seeming to be afraid of saying things that would not be to the disagreement of Shaibu Amodu – and that seemed to include both players and administrators – it was left to the winger of velvet skills and movement to hit the nail by the head and speak the truth without caring whose horse was going to be gored. Standing up as the only one with enough derring-do to tow that kind of line, Odemwingie declared that if the NFF really wanted the ship of the Super Eagles to begin to sail smoothly and with better speed, particularly in the World Cup Finals sea, it would be needing a new captain in the technical department. According to a source in the meeting, Osaze first noted how it took when the aging but highly experienced Nwankwo Kanu was featured before central attackers begin to get through passes in all the Eagles matches. Then the player went on to indict the coaches for not realising the importance of this in all their previous matches. He said it was bad that the technical crew did not realise this was lacking in the team and that it had been only Kanu that was capable of filling that void. Odemwingie went on to note to everyone in the meeting how against Algeria in the third-place playoff, it was the vast experience of Kanu that helped the team to the bronze that went on to become the consolation prize for Nigeria. Given this, he was said to have directly asked that Super Eagles be given a foreign technical adviser that knows his onions. The source quoted Odemwingie, the Lokomotiv Moscow striker, to have said: "We really did want to fare better than we did this time, but it is unfortunate that all we have now is the bronze. A better performance would have served as a big step in our preparations towards the World Cup in June. But the sad reality of our tactical plan was that we were too defensive. We were not a very offensive team in this tournament, which also sadly meant we could not showcase the best, or even the true form, of Nigerian football. “We do have the potential but I believe we need to have more options to our game than just having one system. "The Algeria game showed what we have been lacking in our first five games - the experience of Kanu. We needed someone with his experience who could also get the strikers to play and that was what Kanu did against Algeria." The Portsmouth striker gave at least four through balls against Algeria even if the Eagle strikers failed to utilise any of those chances. The meeting was a parley called by the federation, and which took place at the Hotel Praia Morena in Benguela on the night of the third place match against Algeria. The team met for over three hours during which both players and coaches were allowed to bare their minds on the way forward for the Super Eagles. Odemwingie was bold enough in the presence of Coach Shaibu Amodu and his assistants to tell the NFF president, Sani Lulu, and other board members like Taiwo Ogunjobi and Shehu Adamu the tactical deficiencies of the team and ask that a foreign coach be hired on time for the World Cup Finals coming up in the summer in South Africa. http://www.thisdayonline.com/nview.php?id=165742 |

Kwame Nkrumah-Acheampong takes centre stage at the winter Olympics in Canada. THERE'S not a lot of snow in Ghana. None in fact. It's in the heart of sub-Saharan West Africa, for goodness sake. So it's little surprise that, in a population of 24million, you can count the number of world-ranked Ghanaian skiers on the fingers of one, er, finger. More surprising is the fact that Ghana's one-man ski team, Kwame Nkrumah-Acheampong, is preparing to take on the world's best after qualifying for next week's Winter Olympics in Vancouver. Dubbed the Snow Leopard, the 35-year-old father-of-two only saw snow for the first time ten years ago - at Heathrow Airport - and stepped on to a snow-covered mountain for the first time just six years ago, in France. He admits that being the first Ghanaian Winter Olympian - let alone being the first downhill skier - is an achievement. He says: "I think it was like sending a Ghanaian to the moon. I feel great about competing and all my friends in Ghana think it is really cool. I'm very proud of my heritage and being a role model for other Africans and Ghanaians to follow their dream. Nothing is impossible if you put your mind to it." He likens his story to that of the 1988 Jamaican Olympic bobsleigh team who competed in Calgary and inspired the hugely successful 1993 film Cool Runnings. He says: "The Jamaican team did actually try hard to have very fast push-off times, really moving down the course. "Not all the factors were right for them and they crashed, but if they hadn't, they would have done a really good time. So I love being compared to Cool Runnings." http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/features/2838302/Kwame-Nkrumah-Acheampong-Africas-skiing-star.html https://i49.tinypic.com/2jb719w.jpg ---- I saw this guy on Eurosport and I was like. . .Mehnnn!!! NFF VISIT MOHAMMED Officials of the Nigeria Football Federation on Tuesday visited defender Yusuf Mohammed in South Africa as the player recuperates from his Achilles tendon injury. Additional good news came the way of the player after he was told by doctors that the injury was not as serious as feared and he would recover in time to be available for the World Cup if selected. The NFF delegation was led by President Sani Lulu Abdullahi and included first vice President Amanze Uchegbulam, and executive committee member Taiwo Ogunjobi. All of Yusuf's medical bills, estimated at around $20 000, were picked up by the Federation and Super Eagles Media Officer Idah Peterside told KickOffNigeria.com that the Glass House would also fly in the player's wife to take care of him while he recuperates. "He has already been discharged from hospital and the NFF will fly in his wife this week because he needs someone to take care of him while he is recovering." http://www.kickoff.com/static/news/article.php?id=13712 |
