The pensions director general, Nellie Mayshak, has been suspended indefinitely. She is accused of an alleged multi-billion naira fraud – Mayshak was on a monthly salary of N60 million. The recent introduction of biometric registration by banks has exposed alleged shady deals in the pensions directorate. The director general of the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD), Nellie Mayshak, has been suspended for an alleged fraud running into billions of naira discovered at the office of the federal ministry of finance, The Cable reports.

According to the report, the details of the alleged fraud are still sketchy, but the recently introduced biometric registration by banks has exposed many shady dealings in the directorate.
With investigations currently on-going, Mayshak has been placed on indefinite suspension as it was alleged that she was on a monthly salary of N60 million – thought to be the highest for any government official in the federation. PTAD was established in August 2013 under the Pension Reform Act (PRA) of 2004 to oversee the management of pensions under the defined benefit scheme for pensioners not transiting to the defined contributory scheme.

The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) on Thursday arrested a gospel preacher and
some other passengers for boarding its Lagos/Ogun bound passenger train without
tickets.
A correspondent of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) who was aboard the train
reports that the preacher was arrested with others at Agbado Train Station in Ogun.
The preacher, a light complexioned man and others were arrested by the taskforce
assigned to ensure law and order and arrest passengers and preachers in the train
who did not have tickets.
NAN reports that the preacher, who joins the train at Itoki, also in Ogun, always
stayed in the first coach where he preached loudly, a development the passengers said
was disturbing.

The police detectives attached to ‘A’ Division Police Station Warri, Delta State have arrested five female teenagers and a young lady (name withheld) for alleged s*x trade with one Burkar Hassan.

The girls were arrested following a tip-off on their activities around Warri Motor Park at nightfall.

Mother of one of the girls initiated the arrest when her daughter spent the night outside.

Speaking to Southern City News, she said, “When I saw them, I knew that they must know about the whereabouts of my daughter who did not pass the night in my house.

“First, it was the first time my daughter, a Primary 3 pupil, did not sleep in my house. I decided to lodge a complaint to the police because we have been hearing stories about these girls sleeping with one Alhaji for money.”

The police image maker in the state, Mrs. Celestina Kalu, who confirmed the arrest of the teenage girls and a young lady, said they confessed they were given N10,000 each for the night, adding that the police were on the trail of the Alhaji.

There has been suspicion over the illicit s*x business and fear that it could be fetish as the teenage girl were subjected to special spirit bath after s*x bouts with the so called Alhaji.

Police say they are on top of the situation and are doing everything to trace and arrest the main man.

All my life as a Nigerian I have never seen or heard about any female that attained the rank of a general, be it major general or lieutenant general.

I'm aware that there are many women in the force but have never heard about any female general. Is there a Nigerian law against women reaching that rank or is the usual glass ceiling in play? Does anyone know any female general or even colonel?
