The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has maintained that the battle for the soul of Nigeria must be won.

Atiku stated this while calling for reflection, ahead of his birthday on November 25.

In a statement made available to journalists by his Media Adviser, Paul Ibe, the former vice-president said a time like this required a sharp focus on rescuing Nigeria from the economic crisis and global ignominy.

Atiku, therefore, enjoined his family, friends and associates to withhold from placing adverts to congratulate him.

Instead, he advised them to convert their funds for adverts and congratulatory messages in the media, into charity organisations of their choice, such as orphanages.

He said, “These times call for sober reflection and prayer, rather than merriment and jollification. These times require a laser-sharp focus on rescuing Nigeria from the economic crisis and global ignominy.

“These times must be dedicated solely to the task of getting Nigeria working again, on JOBS (Jobs, Opportunities, Being United and Security). The time for celebration will definitely come. But, first of all, the battle for the soul of our nation must be won.”

Atiku further appealed to Nigerians, to keep him constantly in their prayers on his birthday and afterwards, adding that “the battle truly belongs to the Almighty God.”

POLITICS – Latest report as the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2019 election, Atiku Abubakar, said if elected, 70 per cent of his appointments would go to youths and women.
Abubakar said this on Wednesday in Yola while addressing a group of youths who organised a solidarity rally to endorse his candidature.

Abubakar said 40 percent of appointments would go to youths, while 30 percent would go to women.

“The remaining 30 percent will be managed by the elderly,” he said.
While pleading with the youths to vote for PDP for better life, the former vice president noted that their votes were vital for his victory as they constituted 70 per cent of the nation’s voting population.

“This election is for you; youths and women as you made up 70 per cent of Nigerian population of voting age.

“As for me, I have achieved in life, but many of you have a long way to go; you have no house, no job. If you fail to vote PDP you will continue like that.

“On Election Day, go and vote, protect your votes and ensure your votes count,” he said. (NAN)
