AP sources: White House aware of Russian bounties in 2019

Top officials in the White House were aware in early 2019 of classified intelligence indicating Russia was secretly offering bounties to the Taliban for the deaths of Americans, a full year earlier than has been previously reported, according to U.S. officials with direct knowledge of the intelligence.

The assessment was included in at least one of President Donald Trump’s written daily intelligence briefings at the time, according to the officials. Then-national security adviser John Bolton also told colleagues he briefed Trump on the intelligence assessment in March 2019.

The White House did not respond to questions about Trump or other officials’ awareness of Russia’s provocations in 2019. The White House has said Trump was not — and still has not been — briefed on the intelligence assessments because they have not been fully verified. However, it is rare for intelligence to be confirmed without a shadow of a doubt before it is presented to top officials.

Bolton declined to comment Monday when asked by the AP if he had briefed Trump about the matter in 2019. On Sunday, he suggested to NBC’s “Meet the Press” that Trump was claiming ignorance of Russia’s provocations to justify his administration’s lack of a response.

I actually supported him in 2016 too (though I'm too ashamed of saying this in public now)

I was tired of the whole political correctness and whole lgbtq thing taking over government and new group popping up everyday demanding some irrelevant thing even when there are pressing matters affecting the lives of Americans and the world.

I'm all for equality and pursuit of happiness (especially the pursuit of happiness) but it seems Democrats were taking it to the extreme at a time and it seems trump/conservatives would be a breathe of fresh air.

My opinion then was, well, Democrats have been great with economy but America needs to slow down the social progression a lit bit.

I totally forgot how much of a fraudulent asshole trump was. I was happy when he won until after 6 months in office I realised, men this guy is full of more shit than I thought.

The bolded was the main reason why i supported a Republican presidency in 2016. I thought Trump will be 'some-what' different to channel the more pressing things and continue to consolidate on the economy which for me personally is more important than sexual orientations.

Obama's administration become too free-for-all kind of situation, there are other things of uptmost importance in the country than peoples sexual orientation. Obama lost me when the LGBT flag was flown in the WH. The good thing at that time was the solid economy, the record breaking financial markets, although with too much regulations.

The situation now is completely different. The U.S. just needs stability which Trump unfortunately is not offering.
