@feelamong
What do you think the rate for next week's Pry Market will be (6months and 1year)
It dropped from 17.7% to 17% last auction.
Maybe dropping to 16.5? or 16?

Today's trade in the Secondary market should give us some directions..

Nigeria Plans to Sell $5.5 Billion of Eurobonds by Year-End

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-09-27/nigeria-plans-to-sell-5-5-billion-of-eurobonds-by-year-end

Nigeria’s overall foreign debt, which includes funds from partners and the Export-Import Bank of China, stood at $15.1 billion as of June 30, while domestic debt was 14.1 trillion naira, the National Bureau of Statistics said Sept. 19. The government wants to increase the proportion of foreign borrowing to 40 percent of total debt stock from under 30 percent currently, Oniha said.

“That will reduce the government’s borrowing costs,” she said. There is an almost 10 percentage-point spread between domestic and foreign borrowing costs and the restructuring debt plan will help save government hundreds of million dollars in financing costs, Oniha said.

Nigeria’s Eurobonds yield 6.06 percent on average, compared with 15.98 percent for its naira debt, according to Bloomberg indexes

If the federal govt pulls this thru....be prepared for TB rates as low as 10% from January next year!!

Guys don't get @FEELAMONG wrong......if am not mistaking, he is trying to say we should not put all our eggs in one basket.

Diversify means sharing ur funds into different viable investments. U could have TB positions as well as Eurobonds or gold.

Pls how do I buy the eurobonds....

Gbam.. just diversify wella!

You do not need to wait for the next Eurobond auction..

You can buy from the secondary markets from Stanbic IBTC or from UBA capital

Asper what feelamong said regarding diversifying your investments, I think I might I've fallen into the trap a second time. First one I did was fixed deposit lost a lot of money because I changed hard currency for that purpose. Now I've done it again, but this time with Treasury bills. From what I gather here it looks like this may be a mistake (rates dropping, price of crude, etc) . Would it have been better to hold on to hard currency, rather than investing in Treasury bills? I'm a learner here, so any advice w6be appreciated.

My take... when you diversify to Dollars assets; you dont just buy dollars and keep under your mattress... it may work once in a while but its destined to fail most of the times..

when you diversify to dollar or Euro assets .. also make sure the asset is earning for you. Look at investments in Eurobonds, Bitcoins/Cryptocurrency trading (if you understand that), Gold ETF, etc

As for me .. i do both Eurobonds and Cryptos!

Another Economic Crisis Looms over CBN “Reckless Funding of FG”
https://www.businesspost.ng/2017/09/26/another-economic-crisis-looms-cbn-reckless-funding-fg/

Exactly why i advise everyone to hedge against Naira assets! Make sure you have diversified your investments and earnings from only NAIRA!

I learnt some bitter lessons from the last devaluation and vowed never to be caught off guards again..

All Emefiele has been doing is Quantitative easing,..... which in lame man terms is PRINTING MORE MONEY FOR THE FG.

If the Price of Oil does not get to $80 in the medium term... we are doomed!

be warned!!

Dear Feelamong,

Kindly advise on the possible rate of 182days and 364days in the next auction in October.

Thank you.

Still a far time off... just keep your eyes on the secondary market rates as they trade there daily
Investment / Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by feelamong(m): 3:32pm On Sep 20, 2017
there is no better time to buy shares than now...

Treasury bill discount rates are falling and very soon we will get to the way it is supposed to be....

Look for companies that the lower borrowing and finance cost would impart positively on their balance sheet by year end

If you have chance to buy Tbills now...better do as fast as you can becos from what we are seeing in the deal books..the rates would crash massively at this Auction.

Lock in fast for any secondary market rate especially the 182 to 364 days..

The Demands from the banks and Pension funds is awesome!! shocked shocked

My guy Cryptos/Bitcoins is not for the faint hearted or lily livered.... but we have figured out a risk free way to go about it and the gains are awesome!! grin

We should all be bidding for long dated Tbills now as we expect a gradual drop in the discount rates..

No OMO for some time now so liquidity is high

f I invest say 1 million in T bills for 365 days at say 18% and I terminate after 60 days, what's likely to be my penalty?

Freeman67

In Treasury Bills ..there is no fixed penalty. The bills are just sold off into the market at the best prevailing rate they can get.

Thats why it could be traded on.....if the prevailing interest rate is favourable you could even get capital appreciation when you decide to break your Tbills early
