fxuser:Boss....you really prepare wella come this time around around abeg use that Heikin Ashin look UBA for us....any strong uptrend signal there? |
DaBogu:hahahahaha.....you will not understand the 'Cabal' in banks.. Just ask your account office or any marketing staff in a bank what his 'Cabal' is like and you will understand. ![]() |
tijusegele:Because your Investments in Tbills takes the funds out of the banks CABAL They dont like loosing deposits, as that is the power they need to make more money |
seyisanya:To invest in actual Eurobonds...just speak to your Fund managers. I use Axa Mansard. They will tell you the process which is basically to fund your dollar account with them. |
seyisanya:This is Eurobond Fund.......Not purchase of actual Eurobond. This is more like investing in Money market funds (which invest in Tbills and other short term money market instruments like CPs) and not buying Tbills directly. |
freeman67:I dont think its a good idea to rush into a long term TBill deal now. Naija is broke and the FG needs to borrow over N1TR in this quarter.. I see rates going to as much as 14.5% in the coming weeks. Just look for good short term secondary market deals and lie there for the small time..... |
Yields are gradually hinging upwards.... TREASURY BILLS AUCTION 11/09/2019 91 days -------------11.1% 182 days -----------11.79% 364 days------------- 13.286% |
IamR:I actually bought from AXA Mansard.. am also aware that UBA, FBN Quest and Stanbic all offer Eurobond products too |
DigitalMallam:I was faced with this dilemma sometime last year when i did some research and saw how much i lost holding Tbills when I should have switched to Eurobonds shortly before the last devaluation of Naira. However we all need to understand some things, we might never see another major devaluation of up to 100% like we saw the last time, but over time stats have shown that we are all far better off holding dollars. What i did was to move 40% of my Liquid assets to Eurobonds, while keeping the remaining 40% in Treasury Bills and 20% in Mutual funds. In the short term, you will be lucky to get up to 10% return in Eurobond..(I was lucky to buy Fidelity bank Eurobond at 10.5% yield) from what i see now its about 8% now. However you can sleep well knowing that the fear of Devaluation will not affect you that badly if and when it comes...however, you will not get up to the 18% we got from Treasury Bills sometime ago. So my advise is that, it is good for everyone to have some of his liquid assets in Dollars Investments and Eurobonds is the place to be. If you are also like me that enjoy taking risk....buying Bitcoins is another way to diversify away from Naira (This is a risky bet though) |
Chrisdollar3:Primary market refers to the Bi Monthly Auction by CBN/DMO. Here you submit your bids thru your banks for the amount, tenor and rate you intend to deal on.. Secondary markets refer to the buying and selling of the already purchased Tbills amongst the investors. Bank A can decide to sell down on the Tbills it purchased and as such will put it for sale thereafter. Unlike in stock markets where we have the stocks exchange for secondary transactions of stocks, the Tbills secondary market is basically an OTC where the major players (banks, Asset managers, INvestment Houses, PFAs all interact amongst themselves.. we the retail players just jump on the back of our banks to get into the deal and buy from them or sell to them |
zamirikpo:Are you talking about the Primary auctions? Not sure it go to that level there.. secondary markets i know went for as much as 13.7% sometime last week |
CompareDBest:TREASURY BILLS AUCTION 28/08/2019 91 days -11.10% 182 days -11.59% 364 days - 12.89% |
CompareDBest:Foreign Investors are reducing their exposures to the Frontier markets... They are selling down their Tbills and Bonds after they have finished selling down their equities.... Emefiele will have no other option but to increase the discount rates for Tbills in the coming days to keep them back... seems like the happy days are back again for Tbills Investors! |
hancock:Its not a joke. its the state of the affairs our economy now... The govt wants to drop interest rates to encourage GDP growth. its signaling that by dropping the rates at which they will borrow from investors. hopefully the commercial banks will take a cue from that and drop interest rates too so that we can borrow cheaply and do real business rather than dumping our funds with govt and collecting high interest rates on them |
Anyone buying any Stocks in the NSE should also price in the Corporate Misgovernance we have in the Naija Corporate set up now. Yes, Economy is not too friendly...but we also have many Fraudulent Directors running these coys... As for me and my household......we will never touch about 95% of the stocks on the NSE. Mobsters and gangsters running them |

harveybeaks:speak to your bankers.. |
Bravedude112:I cannot even remember the last time i did any primary market auction. I just shop around for the best available rates for the tenor am looking at and go in immediately...most times delays are dangerous, most especially when you can see in the horizons that rates are not going up any moments soon. |
ify2016:Vote with your feet! There are loads of other banks and even Investment banking outfits that would readily take your bids and do it for you immediately. Why stick with GTB as if they are the only one doing Tbills? |
Guys...Please lets not derail this Treasury Bills Thread! Many newbies look up to us for direction and information on how to go about their first Treasury Bills Investments.... Please anyone with an idea of the secondary market rates in Stanbic or GTB? |

tritritri:I do cryptos for long and also short term trades......they are both speculative to a large extent. I also think that Eurobond is also a non speculative way to keep value... |
ernie4life:I already have such with a couple of Investment houses. Just looking for one that operates like Mutual fund where I can easily earn at a good rate and still be able to take out funds when needed without having to sell down my position.. |
Nice thread here on Eurobonds....... Been investing in Eurobonds for some years now. I am currently looking for a coy that will arrange a flexible approach to it. Being able to take out some of my capital without any penalties.... is there any company that can allow me operate the Eurobond like a Mutual fund and also has some good yield. A couple of coys i have checked have very poor yields for such products |
