President Paul Kagame Closes Down 6000 Churches, All Pastors Required to Hold Degree in Theology Before they Can Practice

https://howafrica.com/president-paul-kagame-closes-down-6000-churches-all-pastors-required-to-hold-degree-in-theology-before-they-can-practice/

The President of Rwanda, H.E. Paul Kagame issued a statement saying he has officially closed down 6000 churches in Rwanda saying they were playing with the faith of Rwandan citizens and also put up a new requirement of procuring a theology degree before given license to open up a church in Rwanda.

While at the National Leadership retreat in Gabiro, Rwanda, in March Kagame expressed his concerns on the rising number of churches in Rwanda and asked if they were boreholes or wells that gave people water and also said they didn’t even tally with the number of factories in the country.

Paul Kagame who is known for his strict hand also cited security concerns when closing up these religious institutions.

The Rwanda Governance Board said the move was also meant to tighten rules on registration and functioning of churches in Rwanda and also reduce on the creeping cases of fraud as many religious leaders were reaping off impoverished followers.

Anastase Shyaka, head of Rwanda Governance Board also said installation of a lighting rod would be one of the requirements for new churches after a lighting strike killed 16 worshipers and injured 140 at a Seventh Day Adventist Church in March.

Some Rwandese supported the move saying some religious leaders are motivated by greed and start churches to defraud followers.

Government of Rwanda said it respects freedom of worship but protecting people’s lives was first priority.

Imagine passing this law in Nigeria. Every pastor alive dey screaming grin

Butterflyleo:

Symptoms of ODD ( oppositional defiant disorder)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gg1t_nGaDLs

Did you just...? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH.

And right after I made that post about anti-intellectual tribalism. Talk about on point! Yeah, it's not that the claims and arguments you god fearing folk are full of shit, it's just that I have brain problems, clearly! As does every other person on the planet who disagrees with anything.

Wow, I never knew Psychology was so useful like this. I can just blast people with mental disorder labels instead of constructively addressing their viewpoints and criticisms!

...Are you really this dumb?

Butterflyleo:
Behavioral symptoms: Easily losing one's temper / throwing repeated temper tantrums.

I didn't lose my temper at all. How can you read this over the internet? Not even qualified psychologists claim to be able to diagnose people online.

Butterflyleo:
Arguing.

Yes. Everyone on earth who argues has a disorder. Submission is good. Obey your overlords or else.

Butterflyleo:
Fighting.

See above.

Butterflyleo:
Refusing to follow rules.

Have I broken any rules of Nairaland? I don't think so.

Butterflyleo:
Deliberately acting in a way that will annoy others.

You mean like the way you and BFLion invade every thread you can find looking to pick fights with atheists, pushing nothing new, arguing unscientific, unfalsifiable claims about god, personal attacks (like the one you've made here) against people who disagree with you, and cherry-picking which posts you will respond to? Because that sure is pretty fucking annoying.

Butterflyleo:
Blaming others.

I can't see any context or example of this.

Butterflyleo:
Blatant hostility towards others.

You literally just made a post in response to my rebuttal of a users' theocratic propaganda by claiming that I had a mental disorder. There is nothing more "blatantly hostile" in a debate than that. Are you projecting yourself here?

Butterflyleo:
Being unwilling to compromise or negotiate.

Again, no context and frankly, sounds more a description of yourself than I.

Butterflyleo:
All these symptoms can be found in just this your singular post.

No they can't

Butterflyleo:
You have a mental disorder.

If your response to criticisms of your religions, your logical fallacies, your non-sequiturs is that your opponents all have mental disorders, then you clearly have major issues with debate and critical thinking. There are people I disagree with, but I don't blow hot air out my arse about them having psychological problems. Asserting that I have ODD is nothing more than a thinly veiled personal attack to discredit my argument - a tribalist tactic. I'd advise you drop the false pretenses and directly respond to the issues I'd brought up with the previous poster whom I have replied to, namely that:

1. Atheists are in fact persecuted.
2. Atheism is not a belief system, but the lack of faith in god or gods.
3. "Atheism is blind faith" is an oxymoron and has no foundational basis.

and

4. God isn't real and atheism is not a religion.

Emmanystone:

Is that guy there with the beard their Jesus? HahahahHahahaaha. Laf ooiooo.

ameri9ja:

I don't know how atheists explain the phenomenon of Lord Jesus to themselves. Here is a Person that was foretold for thousands of years, and when He came he made it clear that He was the one foretold and that his words would be around for thousands of years. Here we are, thousands of years later and His words are still around - EXACTLY AS HE SAID!!

Emmanystone:

I read about him sometime ago. He granted an interview. Whan asked what motivated him to start an atheist church on Sunday, he said his mother was a devoted Christian who had Cancer and died. He couldn't deal with how a loving father could watch his beloved daughter die of Cancer, so he rejected God and became an atheist.

And, that, he opened the center to give the atheists a sense of unit, togetherness just like the Christian assembly.

A unit to fellowship with each other and share their fears and hopes (if they have any). I just laughed.

This above me, folks, is anti-intellectual tribalism in action. Want to know why?

It's sardonic gossip, mockery - between two parties who completely agree and have no opposition with one another. People do this in social circles in order to silence criticism; it gives the illusion that a debate has taken place and a conclusion has been arrived at, when really all that's happened is back and forth choir preaching to emulate a feeling of group-think with no opposing views given.

Muslim youth love to do this and are a perfect example. There are youtube channels ran by hardcore muslims where they sit around in groups and banter with one another about an atheist they've heard of, or a woman who doesn't wear the veil, laughing mockingly and playing to other group-think exploits, nitpicking on their appearance or personality or the fact that they might have misquoted a verse or something, without actually engaging them in debate or attacking their arguments or point of view head on, creating an illusion of intellectual authority when in reality there is none. Anti-intellectual Tribalism, or "bitchy banter" as I like to call it.

God doesn't exist and atheism is not like a religion. If you want atheist rebuttals to a query, ask a goddamned atheist - don't coagulate into your little religious tribal flock.

Atheism is like religion.
Their creed is there is no god.
They claim they are persecuted
They believe in blind faith, they do not question atheism.
And now they are holding service in a church like temple.

Incriminating statement.
Impactful but baseless one-liner #1.
Impactful but baseless one-liner #2.
Impactful but baseless one-liner #3.
Righteous ending sentence pointing out alleged hypocrisy.

Really, you imbeciles have mastered the art of sounding official with even the most outrageous of claims.

Their creed is there is no god.
Not believing in god is not a creed. It is the lack of belief in god.

They claim they are persecuted
There are 13 countries around the world where atheism is punishable by death or imprisonment, and even more for people who leave their religion (100% of these are Muslim countries) and become atheists. There has been a long history of violence against atheists in nearly all major world religions. The overwhelming majority of people in islamic and african countries believe that atheism is a mental disorder, and even if there are no outright criminalizations, criticism of the dominant religion is frowned upon in public. The majority of American citizens would not support an open atheist as president, according to population polls. So yes, atheists are persecuted, all over the world.

They are certainly persecuted in Nigeria, where 12 Nigerian states practice institutionalised Shariah law, which proscribes the Death Sentence for atheists and apostates.

They believe in blind faith, they do not question atheism.
Oxymoron and strawman argument. Atheism is not a system or structure of beliefs, but the lack of belief in a god. The only "blind faith" here is the belief in god, religion and holy scripture without any scientific evidence or support. Atheism is skeptical by default.

And now they are holding service in a church like temple.
The Church plays a fundamental social role in bringing together communities and breaking down ordinary barriers. The concept of an "atheist church" has been around for hundreds of years, and they were active during the French revolution. The idea is to benefit from the social cohesion of bringing local communities together, without the added baggage of belief in a god, religious brainwashing sessions, etc. Think of it like a more active version of a town hall. It's certainly not "feeding a supressed need for god", moreso filling in the void in social connections that's arisen as religiously-based community gatherings are rendered obsolete.

If Britain hadn’t voted to leave the EU, and Trump hadn’t won the US election, it’s unlikely anyone outside Nigeria would have given a second thought to what went on during its presidential election campaign three years ago.

But the 20/20 vision of hindsight casts a very different light on the events of early 2015, and a campaign that now seems to eerily prefigure what happened in the US a year later. Many of the same characters, some of the same tactics.

At the heart of it all – data analytics company, SCL – the parent company of Cambridge Analytica. It had been hired by a rich Nigerian who supported the incumbent, President Goodluck Jonathan.

“It was the kind of campaign that was our bread and butter,” says one ex-employee. “We’re employed by a billionaire who’s panicking at the idea of a change of government and who wants to spend big to make sure that doesn’t happen.”

This was a standard variation on what SCL had done around the world for 30 years – this time, with a twist. Weaponising information to harm an opponent was standard methodology.

It was a methodology honed and developed in the company’s defence and military work – the fifth dimension of warfare, defined by the US military as “information operations”.

What was new, or at least new to those employees who have now spoken out, was bringing these techniques to the company’s election work.

Seven individuals with close knowledge of the Nigeria campaign have described how Cambridge Analytica worked with people they believed were Israeli computer hackers.

The sources – who spoke to the Observer over many months – said the company was looking for “kompromat” on Muhammadu Buhari – at the time, leader of the opposition.

They said the hackers offered Cambridge Analytica access to private information about Buhari.

Their testimony paints an extraordinary picture of how far a western company would contemplate going in an effort to undermine the democratic process in a country that already struggles to provide free and fair elections.

Their claims are disputed by the company, which insists it did not take possession of or use any personal information for any purpose and did not use any “hacked or stolen data”.

The company confirmed, however, that it had been hired to provide “advertising and marketing services in support of the Goodluck Jonathan campaign”.

That work seems to have come about through Brittany Kaiser, a senior director at Cambridge Analytica, who would go on to play a public role at the launch of Nigel Farage’s Leave.eu campaign, and a senior strategist on the Trump campaign.

Regarded by colleagues as a prolific networker, in December 2014 she was introduced to a Nigerian oil billionaire who wanted to fund a covert campaign to support Jonathan.

The billionaire wanted total discretion.

An ex-employee said: “[Kaiser] got a phone call. It was just before Christmas and she flew out to meet them in Washington DC. It was all a bit ridiculous. It was only six to eight weeks before the election and they were looking to spend nearly $2m.”

The election was a big deal. At stake, the future of the most populous country in Africa, and potential access to its lucrative oil reserves. The sitting president was favourite to win, though Buhari was doing unexpectedly well.

Not least because his team had hired AKPD, once the firm of former Barack Obama strategist David Axelrod, which was pushing a slick, social media heavy Obama-esque message of hope.

“There were a lot of scared millionaires worried that Buhari would get in. It was all very last-minute. A team flew out to Abuja and put together a communications campaign. It was a straightforward, normal comms campaign in most respects,” the employee said.

Most but not all respects. The Observer has obtained an astonishing and disturbing video that Cambridge Analytica used in the campaign.

“Coming to Nigeria on February 15th, 2015,” the voiceover says in the manner of a trailer for a Hollywood movie.

“Dark. Scary. And very uncertain. Sharia for all.” And then it poses the question: “What would Nigeria look like if sharia were imposed by Buhari?”

Its answer to that question is certainly dark. And scary. It’s also graphically, brutally, violent. One minute and 19 seconds of archive news footage from Nigeria’s troubled past set to a horror movie soundtrack.

There are scenes of people being macheted to death. Their legs hacked off. Their skulls caved in. A former contractor said: “It was voter suppression of the most crude and basic kind. It was targeted at Buhari voters in Buhari regions to basically scare the shit out of them and stop them from voting.

If Buhari wins, the film warns: women would wear the veil. Sharia law would be introduced. And the inference is, you may be macheted to death.

It wasn’t just videos spreading fear. The Cambridge Analytica campaign team in Nigeria were jumpy too.

“It felt risky, being there. There were various points when we were told we were in danger.” And in the Abuja hotel to which the team was confined in early 2015, rumours abounded.

The tales are Graham Greene-esque. The hotel was where slick western consultants, including a team from the now disgraced Bell Pottinger, partied with their Nigerian counterparts. Mingling among them, western intelligence operatives - state backed, or privately commissioned, nobody was quite sure.

And then there were the meetings: three sources have told the Guardian about one that took place between Cambridge Analytica employees and two people they were told were Israeli intelligence operatives.

“There was a two-hour meeting that took place in the hotel lobby between two senior campaign members and Israeli intelligence. After which they swept our hotel rooms for listening devices and said they would switch out our phones. The story we were told was that there were intelligence agents from a number of different countries, including Israel and France, who were supporting Goodluck Jonathan and helping the campaigns.”

There is no suggestion that Jonathan was aware of or implicated in this support. Another employee said: “Basically the Israelis didn’t want [Buhari] to win.”

Other employees questioned whether they were “real” Israeli intelligence operatives, or Israeli private contractors.

A few weeks later, as the campaign was drawing to a close, there was another meeting at Cambridge Analytica’s London office.

An expert had flown in from Israel with a laptop, sources say.

And Alexander Nix, Cambridge Analytica’s now suspended CEO, and Kaiser, asked employees to take a thumb drive and download the contents on to their own computers.

The content was private emails and the information, they were told, related to Buhari’s financial and medical records.

One employee who was present at the London meeting said he had initially assumed the visiting expert was Mossad or Israeli intelligence passing on what he called “legtimate information”.

But he began to realise this wasn’t the case, he said, when he saw the reaction of his colleagues. One of them had “freaked out”, he said. “He was like, ‘What the Bleep? I don’t want anything to do with this.’”

The witnesses are clear – at least in their own minds. The information they were shown had come from hackers.

Back in Nigeria, the team still on the ground found out what was going on from their colleagues in London. There was more “freaking out”. This time with live, pressing concerns.

“They were fucking scared,” said a colleague who spoke to them while they were in the country. The campaign fixer, the person with local knowledge who navigated them through the ins and outs of Nigerian politics, made it clear to them: they needed to get out of the country right away.

Cambridge Analytica had put them all in danger, they said. If opposition supporters found out, there was no saying what might happen.

One member of the team missed his flight and instead of asking the office to re-book it, he got the first fight out – to Dubai – and put it on his credit card. “Everyone just wanted to get out as soon as possible.”

A spokesman for the company said its team remained in country throughout the original campaigning period had “left in accordance with the company’s campaign plan”.

The evil genius of Cambridge Analytica was to exploit those we trust most

“Team members were regularly briefed about security concerns prior to and during deployment and measures were taken to ensure the team’s safety throughout.”

There are multiple wider political questions about what went on in the Nigerian election of 2015 and the role western powers played. Whether western political campaigners taking lucrative foreign contracts are contributing to the democratic framework of developing countries – or helping to destroy them. If they’re experimenting with methods and techniques that they later re-import back to our more developed democracies.

Christopher Wylie, the Cambridge Analytica whistleblower who spoke to the Observer, called it “post-colonial blowback”.

“The west found a way of firehosing disinformation into weak and vulnerable democracies. And now this has been turned back on us. This really is about our chickens coming home to roost.”

Another said: “Everything the company did after the Mercers got involved was about refining a set of techniques that they would go on to use in the US elections. These campaigns in other countries were experiments. They worked out how to harvest data and weaponise it. And they got steadily better at it.”

And what comes across most strongly, the sources say, is how little thought, if any, the senior directors in London had given to their employees and colleagues who became caught up in the activities, many of whom were in their early to mid-20s.

One member of staff who met the Israelis in the office on another occasion described them as “special forces” types. He said: “They were cliche alpha males with a certain intellect. Looked military, very composed. They looked like they could beat the crap out of you.”

Three years on, there is still stress in some of their voices when they recount these stories. Stress and fear and anger – about the danger they put in, and the lack of care shown toward them, the morally compromising position they were put in, the lack of knowledge they had about what sort of the company they would be working for when they took their jobs.

It’s why, despite the personal risks, so many of them agreed to speak.

“When I took that job, I did not sign up to any of this,” said one. Three years on, he is still angry and shocked and fearful. “You don’t know what this company is capable of,” he said.

In a statement, SCL Elections, the parent company of Cambridge Analytica, confirmed it had been hired in December 2014 in support of the Jonathan campaign.

“We can confirm that SCL Elections was hired in December 2014 to provide advertising and marketing services in support of the Goodluck Jonathan campaign.”

Asked specifically about the meetings in which staff described being asked to transfer personal information that they believed had been hacked, the firm said: “During an election campaign, it is normal for SCL Elections to meet with vendors seeking to provide services as a subcontractor.

“SCL Elections did not take possession of or use any personal information from such individuals for any purposes. SCL Elections does not use ‘hacked’ or ‘stolen’ data.”

5 Reasons I am not a muslim:

1. Allah isn't real and the Quran holds no logical authority.

2. Islam is the world's most violent religion.

3. Mohammad, the pinnacle of Islam, was a cruel, self-centred and murderous warlord who pillaged and invaded, no different to Atilla the Hun, Genghis Khan or Tamerlane. At least with Jesus you could point out that he was simply a wandering prophet who helped the poor, with Buddha much of the same, but Mohammad was a killer and a rapist who used Allah as an excuse to pursue his vile and perverse fantasies.

4. Muslims tend to be less capable of questioning or abandoning their faith's tenets than other religions.

5. Muslim communities are actively trying to sabotage human social progress all over the planet, every year.

What the Bleep is morally good about banning music, teaching dark ages social values to children and encouraging zealous adherence to a violent Allah worshipping cult? Not that I expect you to answer that since you probably went through the same brainwashing these kids were going to go through!

Muslims, even after controlling factors for economic inequality, are over 600% more likely to be criminals than Scandinavians according to Norwegian and Danish population studies

Muslims make up the overwhelming majority (over 95%) of Swedish No Go Zones, where rape, gangsterism and religious extremism is widespread and where Swedish law dares to tread. Over 70% of Swedish nationals who join terrorist groups like ISIS lived in Muslim No go Zones.

Muslims have infiltrated Swedish local courts and have ruled against victims of rape and domestic violence using retarded muslim logic and sexist Shariah Law.

Muslims create backwards segregation between men and women, leading to the destruction of western society, because their book tells them to.

Muslims teach their children to believe in a god, Allah, who does not actually exist and has zero scientific evidence to support belief in him.

Muslims teach children to not socialise with non-muslims.

MUSLIM CONSERVATIVES CREATE PARALLEL SOCIETIES INSTEAD OF ASSIMILATING IN ORDER TO OVERTHROW THE HOST SOCIETY.

You are BACKWARDS, PRIMITIVE compared to ADVANCED SCANDINAVIAN SOCIETY. Your Sunnah was made up by a bunch of Arab SAVAGES in the desert over 1000 years ago you almighty slowpoke! Of COURSE it is backwardsness when Muslim scum brainwash the next generation of Swedes to see women as second-class citizens and thieves and blasphemers to be punished by death!

Sweden's governing Social Democrat party has proposed bringing an end to religious independent schools in the country as part of its manifesto for the autumn general election.
"Religious influence has no home in Swedish schools. The Social Democrats want school to provide all children with a good education regardless of their background, gender or religion," the party explained in a press release.

While most of Sweden's schools are run by the local municipality, there are also a large number of independent schools (friskolor), which are publicly funded and must follow government guidelines on the curriculum, but operate independently.

PREMIUM: How Sweden's education system works

Religious free schools have been a controversial subject in Sweden as of late. In 2017 for example broadcaster TV4 released footage of boys and girls entering a school bus from different entrances at a privately run Islamic school in Stockholm. Sweden's Discrimination Ombudsman later judged that the school had not broken anti-discrimination laws in doing so as the move was a result of male pupils being disruptive, but the same could not be said for the school's gender-segregated sports lessons.

"For us it's clear that no student should be subjected to religious influence in school. To have faith or not should be every child's own choice," Social Democrat Minister for Upper Secondary School and Adult Education Anna Ekström said in a statement.

The cornerstone of an improved Sweden should be equality between schools where parents and students "can be certain that education provides knowledge founded in science and proven experience. Not religious dogma," the party argues.

If reelected, the Social Democrats vowed to turn today's religious independent schools into non-religious schools, though the party still needs to investigate how to do that.

"I'm from a country where religious influence and gender segregation was present in every school. I never intend to allow that oppression, which I and many others fled from, to make its way into Swedish schools," explained Minister for Public Administration Ardalan Shekarabi, who grew up in Iran before seeking asylum in Sweden.

"In Swedish schools it should be teachers and principals who govern, not priests and imams," he added on Twitter.

At a Stockholm press conference presenting the policy on Tuesday, the two ministers argued that Swedish schools are going in the wrong direction, and that increasing segregation could in part be attributed to religious independent schools.

The Social Democrats will also make a proposal to parliament for a new law that would test the fitness of those who want to start and run an independent school.

These people have completely tarnished Naija's image to the rest of the world. Statistically too. In Switzerland, the average Nigerian is over 600% more likely to commit crime than the average native Swiss German, and over 95.5% of Nigerian immigrants to Switzerland were involved in organised crime. Because of the economic situation in Nigeria, the majority of Nigerians who ever leave the country are generally drug traffickers and barons, and this has had a catastrophic effect on the countries they enter and ruin the image of Nigerians to the rest of humanity.

Personally I think a big part of the problem is the fetishism of aroba gang violence and drug culture, how it is seen as "cool" and is encouraged in raps. There are connections between subculture or popculture and people's motivations, aspirations and activities - e.g. after Breaking Bad aired on TV, there was a huge rise in the number of applicants to Chemistry degrees at US universities. People wonder where these drug barons come from when little kids listen to aroba bullshit before they know how to 3x3. Of course there's also the more affecting factor of the fact that these people come from the slum or violent neighbourhoods, but the baron overlords have no such excuse.

The current dictator of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoghan is a MUSLIM JIHADI in BUSINESS CLOTHES who is DESTROYING Turkey. He and his party are islamizing Turkey even as we speak, silencing those who do not worship Islam and censoring all opposition.

Turkey was a secular country founded by Atatürk, who wanted Turkey to be a Western country with historical muslim influences and separation of religion and state. Erdoghan is destroying that and atheists, Christians, socialists, minority Muslim branches like Alevis, Kurds, etc. are all on the run from his reign of terror. They are pushing for the hijab for women, something nobody in Turkey ever wore outside rednecks in the countryside, and they are removing evolution from schools and replacing it with "Jihad" lessons. Turkey's opposition to the jihadists is being arrested, murdered and silenced, and there are more journalists jailed in Turkey right now than in any other nation.

This is what happens when you let religion, especially ISLAM, into your government. Soon Turkey will become Iran 2.0 if NATO doesn't do anything about it (which I doubt they will)

The Christian lifestyle is so hard for Naijans because so many of them are perverts and greedy as fūck, don't give a damn about organization or higher society.

I'm not a Christian but holy cow Naijans are the biggest fucking hypocrites, preaching morals to the "decadent West" when they watch more porn than practically all of europe combined - I've even seen Naijans sexualize bloody churchgoers and pastors before.

"I'm a good christian Naijan gonna help the needy and do my bit for societ- Hrrrgh Lisa Ann is so hot Fap Fap gonna look at Naijan booty pics and be a drug dealer who ruins society, or get into govt. embezzle a few hundred million out of state funds and run away to my private strip-hotel in Madagascar"

Every. Fūcking. Time.

The same way you perceive it as rubbish is the same way I perceive what atheists do here in the religion section as rubbish.

How can atheists spend so much time on a religion section, talking constantly about a God they claim not to believe in, ridicule religious people and their beliefs and you don't consider that as rubbish undecided

Think freely dude.

To sway the minds of the few who doubt.

It's part of why we exist in any numbers at all. It's also part of the reason most developed countries no longer put us in jail for it. Religion is a plague of the mind, and, like other plagues, it has a worrying tendency to spread. Unlike atheism, who's primary defense is reasoning and argument, religions like Christianity and ESPECIALLY Islam can only ultimately defend their faiths through bullying, censorship, and violence. There is a reason why prominent atheist scientists and philosophers in antiquity had none of their works survive outside references or quotes within other writings - it's because their books were burnt by the later generations of fanatics that proceeded them.

Atheism is just a facet of rationalism and scientific thought. You say that atheists are ridiculing religious beliefs. Well, I think it's ridicule to the entire human species and to modern civilization itself, that we have as much collective academic and social progress as we have achieved today, over thousands of years of mathematical and scientific development, yet the majority of the human population still believes in magical sky gods, yet millions of people around the globe believe that thieves should have their hands chopped off because a magical book says so, where there are millions of people who believe in jihad against non-believers and murdering apostates, where millions of people believe that god is real and performs miracles for them, with people doing things as crazy as praying next to a fire to put it out, where millions of people right in Nigeria believe in coveted and greedy criminal religious pastors who soak up their money and live double-lives of fake piety and sleazy luxury while convincing the duped Naijans who attend their churches and gatherings to seek nothing but the nonexistent god for help in their often poor and precarious situations.

God is not real, and thus, the religions which build themselves around him lose all theological (and logical) authority. God does not belong in a modern day government. The Bolsheviks were ahead of their time with their crushing of the insanely backwards, pogrom generating Russian Orthodox Church, which has been one-sidedly depicted as negative and a denial of religious freedom by Cold War US propaganda and more recently, Russian nationalist Putinsky romanticistic propaganda, ignoring the huge and dangerous sway the Church had over the wider peasant and robotnik population, along with its deep connection to the imperial and land-owning elite.

"Religion is the opiate of the masses". It is, far more than a set of reasonless societal rituals based around reverence for non-existent gods and arbitrary religious law, a tool to keep people fulfilled when they should not feel fulfilled.

Religion / Re: Atheists Are Fools by Fegelfire: 2:35am On Mar 16, 2018
Do not be afraid of text-walls, folks. Text-walls online are what loudmouthed bellowers are in a debate in real life - they try to overwhelm you with voice or information so that you will lack the preparedness to poke holes in their arguments. This is no different, a loudmouth defending his belief in god based on pre-conceived rhetorical notions. I will now proceed to dismantle his post.

Come now, class, let's use reason and deduction to break down this overwhelming Christian rant piece by piece. Yosh!:

I don't understand the reason why a sane human being would believe there is no GOD. Really I still can't get it. You believe these planets just came into existence by itself ? You think you came into this world by mere chance ?

Correct. The planets, their solar systems, the galaxies and ourselves are the result of a 17 billion year long set of physical and chemical reactions, beginning from the big bang. There are numerous theories in modern physics and cosmology as to the spark or what came before the creation of the universe, all of which involve high-level scientific and mathematical concepts, such as general relativity, and none of the credible ones involve a sentient superbeing.

Indeed, I could ask you the same question about god. If the universe had to have "come from someone", then where did that "someone" come from? Where did god come from? Was there a mommy god and a daddy god? If god just "happened" or god is "eternal", why can we not apply this same logic to the universe?

And overwhelmingly, how would this divine superbeing have any connection to the god of the Bible or the god of the Quran, who is most surely a matter of myth and fable and not of reality?

Oh I see it's evolution.

That's part of it, yes.

Fools.

Ad Hominem.

You think when you die, that would be the end of it all ?

Yes, as there is no scientific evidence for any special realm that people suddenly wisp away to after they perish, and there never will be because heaven and hell do not exist!

How foolish of you guys to think you're more intelligent than your Maker.

Here you are presupposing that a maker exists at all, and that we are "more intelligent" than it (Does god have a brain? a nervous system? Some similar data network?). That makes you the fool here, my friend. I will again invoke Karl Marx, founder of Communism, who says "If people are to know and understand the real world, they must give up superstitious beliefs because they have a narcotic effect on the mind." Your belief in god is drugging your mind to the point where you cannot differentiate his existence from the scenarios of critics in which he cannot exist.

Note that the entirety of the rest of your argument rests on the assumption that god is absolutely real, and simply focuses on atheists "going astray" for personal reasons as opposed to tackling their real criticisms of your faith and of the existence of a god. This is a dishonest argument.

But I've come to realize that most of you atheists aren't that foolish. Deep down your heart, you know GOD exist. But you refuse to admit.

You think you can read the minds of people now? Letalone the minds of the majority of the hundreds of millions of atheists on the planet? Now who's being 'foolish'?

We don't know god exists. That's why we're atheists, duh!

Most of you are blinded by resentment and bitterness. Am quite sure most atheists used to believe in GOD until probably something {bad} happened to them which made them change their thinking. Perhaps they lost a loved one. 0r maybe they prayed to GOD and their prayer wasn't answered. And this made them so sad, disappointed and angry that they concluded GOD doesn't exist.

This was the impetus for some atheists in ancient times, such as the ancient Icelandic Viking Hrafnkel https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hrafnkels_saga.
But the criticisms of the existence of a god stem from far more than that, including a lack of evidence, more reasonable explanations and heavy skepticism regarding the creation of the universe, as well as the concept of a "being" with a "mind" who can "shape" the universe - god - being a human-centric idea, trying to explain the wonders of the cosmos using human activity and characteristics, and does not reflect the real functions of the universe as has been observed by countless cosmologists and physicists. And also the arbitrarisms of religious beliefs and laws in Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, Judaism, etc. which have NO proof of their legitimacy and who's followers (Christians, Muslims, etc. especially Muslims recently) violent, nasty tendency to bully and force these beliefs upon others.

I pity these kind of people But there are some foolish ones which i refuse to pity. As a result of their sinful lifestyle, they decide to pretend GOD doesn't exist so they won't have to ask HIM for forgiveness of their sin.

This is no longer an argument. It's just you running with your disingenuous claim that atheists are really god-worshippers (Christians?) who hide their faith, and throwing more ad hominem insults.

If anything, studies claim that people who go through traumatic experiences are more likely to be religious, as can be seen by the strong connection between atheist/irreligious countries, high standards of living and high education (with the exception of China, which is very different from place to place).

No matter the number of times you say `GOD doesn't exist', that wont change a thing It won't stop GOD from being GOD. GOD is not APC, HE doesn't change. I'm very sure you Seun are one of this foolish people. But if am wrong, then am sorry. I just hope it's not too late before you know and say the truth. If u like continue to live in a dreamland and say GOD doesnt exist. You can continue to lie that there're quite a few monotheistic religion in the world, each with their own belief and doctrine. I won't say christianity or islam is the true religion. All am very sure of is that Jesus Christ is the only true way that leads to the Father. Is your name not OluwaSeun ? But you have refuse to thank GOD for the gift of life. You even have the mind to compare yourself with GOD. Aja to ba fe parun, ko ni gbo fere olode Omo ta n ba soro to n warunki, ko se tan a ti parun. I pray that won't be your lot in Jesus' name, amen. So, e ronu ke pi iwada ke ma ba sonu. This intelligence which you think you have, who gave it to you ? Is it not the Living GOD. One day you will know the truth and it will surely set you free. Thanks

Again, at this point you're just mouthbreathing. You haven't put forward any other arguments for your god's existence and are simply ranting about the same two dot-points:

1. Atheists actually believe in god but had traumatic experiences - No evidence.
2. The structure of the universe can only be explained by the existence of an intelligent superbeing - No evidence and is an example of mentally projecting human characteristics onto the universe.

In conclusion, you have not provided any evidence whatsoever for the existence of a god, and in fact have not even attempted to hypothesize a scenario in which a god cannot exist, having created an enormous rant about your conspiratorial ideas about atheists' true thoughts and their betrayal of your "god". That was a lot of hot-air and very sparing substance.

People don't believe God isn't real because there is no reason or evidence for an educated and worldly individual to believe that God is real.

Hello folks,

Why is this act mostly practised in Africa ? Particularly in Nigeria.

When a Church needs help. it calls on his members, but when its members needs help. They are told to ask God. Why?

Because churches are scams crafted by middle-upper class snake-brained Naijans to scam money out of the desperate and uneducated masses.

It's a money-making scheme and a mind-control tactic. "God" and "christianity" is part of the mind-control, and the pastors and their ilk are the orchestrators.
