Politics / Re: Is Nigeria A Failed State? by fellow(m): 9:38am On Jan 20, 2007 |
@McKren A state could be said to "succeed" if it maintains a monopoly on the legitimate use of physical force within its borders. When this is broken (e.g., through the dominant presence of warlords, militias, or terrorism), the very existence of the state becomes dubious, and the state becomes a failed state. The difficulty of determining whether a government maintains "a monopoly on the legitimate use of force" (which includes the problems of the definition of "legitimate" means it is not clear precisely when a state can be said to have "failed". The term is also used in the sense of a state that has been rendered ineffective (i.e., has nominal military/police control over its territory only in the sense of having no armed opposition groups directly challenging state authority; in short, the "no news is good news" approach) and is not able to enforce its laws uniformly because of high crime rates, extreme political corruption, an extensive informal market, impenetrable bureaucracy, judicial ineffectiveness, military interference in politics, cultural situations in which traditional leaders wield more power than the state over a certain area but do not compete with the state, or a number of other factors. Going by the above reference i would solemnly say nigeria is a failed state. We are also moving towards the part of anarchy and everything turning over. What would you say about this recent fuel scarcity? impeachments all over the states? bribery and allegations of corruption leveled against so many public officers and INEC disregard of both the courts and national assembly? It not what we feel happy about but then what can we do about it |

Politics / Re: Tinubu Appoints Igbo As Commissioner by fellow(m): 8:58am On Jan 20, 2007 |
Forget tribalism in our nigeria of today!!! You must definitely be joking. I do not see an igbo man becoming a governor of one of the nothern states even during the robotics era same with a yoruba man ruling an eastern state and a northerner governing bayelsa state. It doesn't just add up Tinubu did that to wipe off ethnic sentiments against him and least we forget increase his chances of winning the central senatorial district. Can someone please tell me why now and not in 1999 or 2003. As lewa said, its all sheer politricks |

Family / Re: Can You Marry A Former Prostitute? by fellow(m): 6:19pm On Jan 17, 2007 |
debosky: Well i think for a man, society allows it though it is uncalled for. But for a lady i think its frowned at. Imagine if the hubby had overheard those guys talking about his wife (not even girlfriend), i think that would have been the end of the marriage, don't you think so? To your other topic, well i think it would be a nice thing to talk about and i look forward to it. |

Family / Re: Can You Marry A Former Prostitute? by fellow(m): 2:53pm On Jan 17, 2007 |
well a repented prostitute!!!!!!!! Wonders shall never end with all this so called grammar. For me its no. I was at a place one day and a guy walked in so sad. He was like guys you need to witness what happened at the wedding i went to today. He was like at the wedding, when it was the turn of the hubby and the wifey to kiss each other, one of the guys he was sitting beside told the second one "you know i have slept with that girl 4 or 5 times", of which the second one replied him saying "oh i thought i was the only one that did that". And before you could say JACK ROBINSON 6 different guys confessed to have slept with the girl and this was been talked about on her wedding day.Imagine been a laughing stock of the society HAI I would not want that to happen to me so i say no to "AS YOU GUYS SAID IT" a repented prostitute |
