McKren:

OBJ's energy policy has been a disaster, I don't know why nobody, Not even the national assembly saw the need to question OBJ's reluctance to build a refinery.

On the issue of impeachments, I think only those of Oyo and Anambra deserves my regret. Others were caught in the act and ousted by Ribadu. I totally support him because I do not see why someone who embezzled state funds (which in the first place is unconstitutional) will be hoping to hide behind the constitution he has abused to remain in power it just does not follow.

On INEC, politicians who are pursuing personal interest are exploiting loopholes in our constitution to make life difficult for INEC. We need to give INEC a chance.

This i totally disagree with you on. That iwu guy has a script he is acting out. How would you explain the lies and intrigues of iwu. That man said he had 33,000 when he had less than a 1000 data capturing machines.
How would you explain that he also came out to deny that he said he was going to register over 70 million voters. Its so certain that left to the National Assembly iwu should be giving the boot on account of incompetence. Also you could realise the fact that the guy has shown he's partisan about all this in the case of the oyo legislature where the state INEC called for a by-election declaring the sit of the pro-ladoja guys vacant.I mean what else would convince you the man has a cross to bear

On the whole its a learning process, if we are a serious people what we need to do is learn from our mistakes and amend the constitution to protect the people. The present constitution we have only serves the interest of the elite, and I think God has only brought confusion between them so that the injustice they bequeath to the people is blown to the open.

So you realise that there's a mistake somewhere! and that nothing is working at the moment. For close to 7 years our almighty OBJ was the petroleum minister and under him we had the worst record in the history of nigeria. There was an NEITI report that bothered on mismanagement of funds and accountability which was swept under the carpets just like other reports

Yes Nigeria is failing and needs quick recovery, but we have a recognised government, a legitimate army recognised even by the militants, thus we are not yet a failed state.

The better you realise it the quicker it is to know what to do about it

Politics / Re: Is Nigeria A Failed State? by fellow(m): 9:38am On Jan 20, 2007
@McKren
A state could be said to "succeed" if it maintains a monopoly on the legitimate use of physical force within its borders. When this is broken (e.g., through the dominant presence of warlords, militias, or terrorism), the very existence of the state becomes dubious, and the state becomes a failed state. The difficulty of determining whether a government maintains "a monopoly on the legitimate use of force" (which includes the problems of the definition of "legitimate"wink means it is not clear precisely when a state can be said to have "failed".

The term is also used in the sense of a state that has been rendered ineffective (i.e., has nominal military/police control over its territory only in the sense of having no armed opposition groups directly challenging state authority; in short, the "no news is good news" approach) and is not able to enforce its laws uniformly because of high crime rates, extreme political corruption, an extensive informal market, impenetrable bureaucracy, judicial ineffectiveness, military interference in politics, cultural situations in which traditional leaders wield more power than the state over a certain area but do not compete with the state, or a number of other factors.

Going by the above reference i would solemnly say nigeria is a failed state. We are also moving towards the part of anarchy and everything turning over.

What would you say about this recent fuel scarcity? impeachments all over the states? bribery and allegations of corruption leveled against so many public officers and INEC disregard of both the courts and national assembly?

It not what we feel happy about but then what can we do about it

Politics / Re: Tinubu Appoints Igbo As Commissioner by fellow(m): 8:58am On Jan 20, 2007
Forget tribalism in our nigeria of today!!! You must definitely be joking. I do not see an igbo man becoming a governor of one of the nothern states even during the robotics era same with a yoruba man ruling an eastern state and a northerner governing bayelsa state. It doesn't just add up
Tinubu did that to wipe off ethnic sentiments against him and least we forget increase his chances of winning the central senatorial district.

Can someone please tell me why now and not in 1999 or 2003.

As lewa said, its all sheer politricks

what will you do if you find out that the guy or girl you are dating doesn't love but just trying to use you. i woke up on the 16th of jaunary 2007 to find out that my relationship was a fairy tale all along. i don't know what game the guy was trying to play. i caught him trying to ask another girl out while dating me. what non-sense. funny enough, he's in Nigeria but every girl he tries to date is abroad.

Lol what a really sad story. Hope you don't get tied up thinking about him, my best bet is you forget about him and move on?

@ fellow

do you think it would also be a shame if 6 girls said they had slept with the groom? I doubt it,

and that smacks of a lil double standard to me: men are allowed to be promiscuous while women are not? probably for another thread

Well i think for a man, society allows it though it is uncalled for. But for a lady i think its frowned at. Imagine if the hubby had overheard those guys talking about his wife (not even girlfriend), i think that would have been the end of the marriage, don't you think so?

To your other topic, well i think it would be a nice thing to talk about and i look forward to it.

Family / Re: Can You Marry A Former Prostitute? by fellow(m): 2:53pm On Jan 17, 2007
well a repented prostitute!!!!!!!! Wonders shall never end with all this so called grammar. For me its no. I was at a place one day and a guy walked in so sad. He was like guys you need to witness what happened at the wedding i went to today.
He was like at the wedding, when it was the turn of the hubby and the wifey to kiss each other, one of the guys he was sitting beside told the second one
"you know i have slept with that girl 4 or 5 times", of which the second one replied him saying "oh i thought i was the only one that did that".
And before you could say JACK ROBINSON 6 different guys confessed to have slept with the girl and this was been talked about on her wedding day.Imagine been a laughing stock of the society

HAI

I would not want that to happen to me so i say no to "AS YOU GUYS SAID IT" a repented prostitute
