Hello all,
I am about buying a naija used Honda civic 2009 from a dealer. I am skeptical about Honda cars due to the negative reviews from my friends and colleagues, even though they have not owned a Honda car before, lol. This will actually be my first car. So, I will need advice if getting this ride will be a good choice. I don't want to buy what I will regret tomorrow. Please kindly give me your honest review on this. Thank you.

I have an issue with my 2012 Camry. I noticed yesterday that the R sign on the dashboard blinks when I engage the reverse gear and the vehicle jerks when the reverse gear is engaged as well.

I don’t experience that kick when I shift to Drive, it only occurs when Reverse is engaged.

What’s could be the issue please??

I have same problem , high fuel consumption, my readin is different thou , honda accord 2000 4 plug auto

Any solution to this high fuel consumption, spark plug has been changed , injector serviced , change cold start , but the new one makes the vehichle sluggish alot , return the old one and vehicle moves ohk again , rpm at idle is largely unstable sometimes coming down to almost switching off and sometimes goes high at 1500 rpm

dont give him till today, go to your bank, complained that the transfer was fraudulent and they should recall it ..............do it , do this in particular, a recall mail will be sent to the receiving bank, definitly there wont be funds there, so they will put an hold on the account pending when money enter.....................u will not get ur money back until the equivalent money is in the account , the guy also wont know that the account is on hold , until another money enter

The way you guys condem naija used ....u make it looks like all car owners are Danfo drivers ....calm down , u are a Nigerian, go and buy your tokunbo , used it very well and maintain it well , when it's time to upgrade , u will see people telling you that its naija used and its been abused .....u don't once even think majority of naija car owners are ladies and gentle men who will even spend their last cash to ensure the car is in good shape rather than use the money to eat ....and its a car , sometimes it just develop a mind of its own , so crazy u will need a new hand to fix ....

If the water inside your Honda car sudden finish or your Engine oil is low,you are in trouble,you may need to buy another engine

The D will blink when oil is low or bad , shift solenoid is bad , try using D3 and see ic that will also blink

I cannot speak to this as I've not had a Corolla overheat on me neither have I driven one without oil.

However, I've had a honda J series overheat on Madam and the vehicle shutdown. I remember the mechanic was worried we might have a blown headgasket but none of that happened. So maybe you're right, I don't know.

I however find it difficult to believe that once a corolla overheats, the outcome is an engine failure.

Yeah for honda, the engine will shut down on you but for Toyota, the engine will keep performing as if nothing is wrong assuming you did not check the temperature gauge, you will keep on driving till the engine failure save for the fact that we all have been train to glance at the instrument cluster every now and then
The one time the fuse box shake and some fuse stop working including the fan and instrument cluster, the vehicle keep running like nothing sups until I see smoke coming out , same thing with the oil when coming from labos to ibadan , I got to toll gate ibadan before hearing metallic sound from the engibe, park immediately, open hood , check for oil its dam dry for something I gauge before leaving lagos yet the car keep running like nothing dey happen upto that moment......I have had both same experience with honda the engine shut down on me....and yes I had this experience with honda baby boy...recently with crv with the bad fuel that enter this country last month , bought fuel from one silly station with no crowd, 3 mins from the station, the vehicle just switched off itself and nothing will bring it back on , we tow it to the mechanic, he drain the fuel put new fuel, and the car come back to life
Honda engine can smoke but you will,, need to be totally crazy to knock it ......Toyota? Now you know why everyone one of them definitely replaced their engine and why it sells so fast

They are buying it that much because most corollas are used for Bolt. If there's anything I know about Bolt vehicles, it's that they suffer terrible abuse. The oil and filter is left for 2-3 months before they change it. These are vehicles that accumulate a minimum of 5000km in one month. When they manage to change it, they look for the cheapest oil they can find. The result is why you see a lot of Corolla engines in shops.

Those same vehicles were used for 15-18 years before they were imported into the country. The question I would expect you to ask is, how is it that the engines were not changed in 15 years but we have to change it under 4 years in Nigeria?

Why you did have a valid reason up there , that is not the reason I am planning to point out ....the human use is not my point of reference, the design is what I am pointing out , if Toyota car is running out of oil or doing overheating ....and let's assume u were unable to check from the cluster ....I tell you the engine will keep on running doing fine till it knock on motion ....both of this I have experience, if an honda car is running out of oil or doing overheating ....and u were unable to check from the instrument cluster .... the engine will not knock ....it will simply switch off on you ....this one wonderful design is one of the reason why honda engine is not what u sell everyday compare to corrola engine

That guy advice is the best so far, however throw this simple question to people to before buying your car....which car engine is currently selling fast ? As an engine dealer ....which engine will u stock up shop with the most ? That brand mention has the highest rate of engine failure ....and I tell you it is corrola ....no need for argument enter any car engine shop it is full of Toyota corrola engine ? Why are they buying it so much if they are not failing so much?

How is the changing of gear.... is it smooth or harsh?have you scan ?

No, I didn't get a new engine, the man that repaired it is an Honda specialist inside Kunle Ara, he revived the car in 24hrs after which another series of test begin cos the car has no pressure and constantly overheat while it smokes, then we dig into the problem of smoking and realised one of the Kazeems that has previously worked on it poured about a litre of black oil inside the plug hole to build up the pressure hence the car was left for several hours for the black smoke to exhaust.

Kindly assist with the attached scan result ...car is Honda baby boy automatic 4 plug , car drives roughly early in the morning for about 3 mins but once warmed up every thing goes smoothly...also it jerk for the first 5 mins of drive when switching from gear 1 to 2 , as a matter of fact, it will not successful shift to gear 2 and the D4 blink immediately...will have to off and start again ....but if I start the car in the morning, leave it to warm for 5 mins before shifting to drive everything works perfectly for the rest of the day even if park for another 8 hrs before driving again , the issue is always in the morning, I have to let it warm up for like 5 mins before driving off to enjoy smooth shift of gear and smooth engine acceleration...I scan the car and attached is the result I want to know exactly what to fix , thank you
