akinlolu40:What do you need a PGDE for when your first degree is in education? The only reason you may need it is so you can do your Masters degree since you had 3rd class but even at that, you can only do the Masters programme in Open University of Nigeria since other universities won't accept it. |

I have done it a couple of times and it always works for me. In fact, That's how it works for me. I always get get a better offer after quitting one and waiting awhile. If one door doesn't close, another may not open. You may also need to close some doors yourself if they refuse to close on their own so others can open for you. Once I get fed up with the workplace rubbish, I quit without looking back and God has never made me regret. One other thing that was in my advantage earlier was the fact that I was single and had no serious responsibilities. The last job I quit was last July and this time around, I was already married, had a child and the second baby was on the way but having made up my mind I could no longer continue with the demeaning condition there, which was almost affecting my psyche and my sense of dignity and worth, I quit even when everybody felt I should tarry until I was able to get another offer. The woman would raise curses and abuses on me for most things I wasn't even responsible for. The working condition was not only hostile but abnormal and inhuman. I went to work on Saturdays and at least two Sundays in a month. I left the house as early as 5 am and at left the office as late as 10 pm and would get home around 12 am. Upon all the hard work, what I got was insults, curses and abuses so I decided it was time to move on. I quit and a month later I got TWO offers, one with better pay than the former and the second with slightly lower pay but with better conditions of service. I accepted the latter. My new employers respect me and we relate well. My former employer was shocked when I resigned but was too proud to have a chat with me. Since I left, she has employed THREE different persons for the role I was performing and she is still not satisfied. Please consider it prayerfully before making the decision. Jobs are not easy to get but if you are hardworking and you know your worth, you can sack any employer at anytime. I am happy I quit and I would do it again if the need arises. |
It is no longer news the recent judgements delivered by the Supreme Court did not toll the line of ANY the judgements earlier delivered by the Elections Tribunals and the Court of Appeal. While one may not bother about the rulings of the Tribunal, one should be worried about those of the Appeal Court, a competent court of jurisdiction and the second highest court in the land. Some questions beg for answers. Is the judiciary really the last hope of the common man? This is better appreciated if one considers the fact that House of Assembly, House of Representatives and Senate election matters terminate at the Appeal Court with no option of going to the Supreme Court. This also portends that if there was another court after the Supreme Court, some of the winners will probably become losers and vice versa. Which of the two courts can we really say is more independent, competent, unbiased and composed of judges of impeccable character? For me, if our judicial system were credible, the Supreme Court at least should have upheld some decisions of the Appeal Court. This will show that the judges are honourable and people of integrity which they should be. The Supreme Court setting aside ALL the decisions of the Appeal Court speaks volume about our judiciary and its composition. It shows the Judiciary is grossly incompetent, biased or partisan. It seems winning a court case at the Appeal Court or the Supreme Court depends on where the interest of the judges lies. Maybe the Appeal Court judges are pro- APC and those at the Supreme Court are pro-PDP. Just an observation of a non-partisan, an apolitical, and unbiased observer. What do you think? |

AN OPEN LETTER TO THE OONI Your Royal Majesty Sir, I am one of your secret admirers and I love your personality and humility but a line should be drawn between humility, your former role and the present eminence conferred on you by the throne. This visit is uncalled for and if it continues, then it shows you will turn out to be a stooge to the Governor and other powerful politicians, acting under their whims and caprices. Probably, next to be visited will be Tinubu and before you know it, the foremost throne in Yorubaland becomes an ordinary stool. I am sure that is not what you want and we don't want it either. There is nothing wrong in showing appreciation. It goes to show you are a true son of Oduduwa but you should have sent emissaries, not going physically. It is demeaning to the throne. Oba Adeyeyi, please you need to perfectly assume your new role and accord the throne the respect it deserves. That's when others will also respect it and you by extension. Thank your Royal Highness. |
