The Federal Government has put measures in place to ensure that up to 13.8 million households in Nigeria embraced the usage of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) for their cooking within the next five years.

Vice-President Prof. Yemi Osinbajo made the statement on Friday while inaugurating a landmark LPG cylinder manufacturing plant, built at Ajah, near Lagos by Techno Oil Limited.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the plant, the building of which commenced in 2015, is the largest of its type in West Africa.

“We are targeting a 40 percent adoption rate or 13.8 million households in five years and 73 percent adoption in 10 years or about 33.3 million households,’’ Osinbajo stated. He said that government was also envisaging to generate up to two million jobs from the LPG sector during the tenure of this administration.

According to him, the government has also set a goal to achieve five million metric tonnes of domestic, commercial and industrial LPG utilization within the next 10 years.

He said that government was doing its utmost to harness the abundant resources in the gas sector, disclosing that the National LPG Expansion Programme had been established to achieve the goals by the government in the new gas policy.

“We identified that it is necessary to emphasize coordination and collaboration in promoting LPG adoption as previous attempts in achieving the goal has failed because of the fragmented approach within the government,’’

Osinbajo said that progress had been made in LPG adoption with the removal of five percent VAT from the domestic pricing of the commodity to discourage importation.

“Techno Oil’s investment auspiciously converges with our administration’s efforts to speedily diversify our economy, through domestic and indigenous solutions.

“When we came into office in 2015, one of the issues we identified was the abysmally low domestic utilization of LPG in Nigeria.

The vice-president said that it was wrong for Nigeria to continue to rely on biomass fuels such as firewood and traditional fuels such as petrol and diesel for their domestic energy needs.

He said that biomass and other fuels were prone to giving health, environmental, economic and social challenges, ranging from carbon emissions, deforestation and a high number of deaths resulting from air pollution.

“According to the World Health Organisation, the smoke from burning wood fuels is a major cause of women and children mortality in Nigeria,’’ he added.

The Executive-Vice Chairman of Techno Oil, Mrs. Nkechi Obi, said that cylinder inadequacy and high cost of acquiring the facility had been taken care of with the building of the plant.

“This plant has an annual production capacity of over five million cylinders of different sizes and we believe it will go a long way to boosting the LPG adoption drive in Nigeria.

“We have just two million cylinders in circulation in Nigeria at present. However, in just four months, this plant will produce one million cylinders.

“This means that we have the capacity to meet the country’s requirements and to produce for export to other West African countries,’’ Obi said.

She, however, appealed to the government to provide the necessary support to the company to sustain local manufacturing of the cylinders.

I have a cousin who before and after he left the country for China was very close to me. We actually didn't know we were cousins when we first met but along the line we got to know.

He has been supportive and we have come to accept the fact that we are cousins and l have a boyfriend also.

I feel my boyfriend get worried sometimes l talked about him and he doesnt seem to be comfortable because of how he talks or some things he does when ever my cousin calls me on phone though l didn't see them as anything because l know nothing was going to happen.

Recently, my cousin came back to Nigeria from China after about 2 years and l landed in Abuja because l was in Abuja then and wanted to see me. He lodged in an hotel and called me to come over that he has landed safely. I went to the hotel to see him and before l could know what was happening, he drew me close and kissed me. I was shocked but he just smiled.

I ended up spending the night with him until the next day and he went to Kaduna and promised to come pick me up from Abuja to Karina by weekend. I don't know what is happening really and don't know how my boyfriend will feel if l told him my cousin kissed me.

So, Nairalanders, is it okay to tell him (my boyfriend), is it something so bad, or should l just let it slip away; have you had such an experience?

A Nigerian man that lives in Awka took to social media to share photos of a gateman who wanted to stab his Oga to death.According to him,the gateman locked all his entrances and nearly stabbed him to death.The man was eventually caught and beaten.Below is what he wrote...

Hi peeps, I am in love with an 18 years old lady who is from a very poor background as mine, I will be 30 this year and I intend settling down maritally this year or early next year, I would have loved her to gain admission before doing anything marriage with her.

I have discussed going back to school with her and getting a trade along, by her consent to it I have gave her money to enroll for jamb and NECO exam which will make her secure admission this year, the jamb result is out and OK pending NECO exam which will start next week.

My problem is the parent are financially handicapped to contribute a dime to her education and we are not married that means the whole stuff is on my head, I would have loved to marry this year if she was already in school or a graduate, I am the first son with responsibility of putting my younger ones through school. I feel I will be shouldering a lot of responsibility, the relationship is just one way sided and the parents don't give a breathing space whenever she spends some hours late in my house, like reminding me we are not married, the whole thing is that I love her, she is a lady I can talk to, and very young and beautiful.

Governor Emeka Ihedioha of Imo State, has inaugurated an eight-man committee to probe the financial dealings of Rochas Okorocha, immediate past governor of the state, Igbere TV reports.

This comes barely 9 days after his inauguration on May 29.

Igbere TV had reported Ihedioha's threat to probe all financial dealings and transactions carried out by the state government in the last eight years under Okorocha.

The ‘Financial Advisory Committee’ (FAC), as named by the governor, was tasked with the major responsibility of ascertaining and documenting the locations and balances on all bank accounts operated by Imo State government, its ministries, departments, and agencies as at May 29, 2019.

“To review such disbursements/applications of State resources to ascertain the propriety of charges levied on accounts, interest payment on loans and deposits where applicable, authorization, etc.

“Reviewing the propriety of applications/disbursements of State resources between 2011 -2019.

“To review the operations of the Imo State Board of Internal Revenue (BIR) with a view to recommending appropriate strategies to reposition the agency for better performance and sustained growth and to conduct governance/financial reviews of key agencies of government with a view to; documenting all revenues generated or subventions/allocations between 2011 -2019.”

This is weird. It's strange and outside the societal norms.

But then, I have yet to see compelling reasons why I should have kids especially in this sinful world, nay Nigeria.

The most prominent reason I hear is

"I want someone to bear my name"

This reason to me is asinine.

I mean, what's my business with people bearing my name?
Will it matter upon my demise? Of what benefit or use is that if I die?

I feel If I care so much about immortalizing my name then starting a company like Toyota, Toshiba etc should do that. Or maybe writing books : Achebe, Robert Green etc.. Or establishing a school, hospital etc.


Another reason is "Who will take care of you in old age?"

I feel like this shouldn't be an issue if there is some money somewhere that one could rely on. Money answers all things you know!



I just feel like I need a woman whom I would love, cherish her as my companion, travel the world with her and of course have seex and share our lives together.


I love women. But don't feel like I want kids. Could it be that I feel I may be unable to sacrifice a lot for them?

Or could it because I feel the world is evil with so much pain hence no need bringing kids into the world.

Irked by the flagrant abuse of the Lagos State Traffic Laws, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Thursday evening came down hard on a Danfo driver who drove against traffic on Eko Bridge.

The governor , who was returning to Government House after attending a function on the Island, was shocked with the way the driver was driving despite following ‘one way’

The Governor, on sighting the vehicle, ordered his convoy to stop.

He alighted from his car and immediately ordered that the vehicle be impounded.

He also directed that the driver be prosecuted in line with the provisions of the Traffic Laws.

The governor, who had earlier in the day signed an Executive Order that extended LASTMA’s work hours to 11pm, said his government will empower LASTMA to do more.

President Muhammadu Buhari is to spend a total of N1.001 billion on both local and foreign trips this year, Igbere TV can report. Specifically, the president would spend N751.296 million travelling around the world and N250.021 million locally.

Also, the Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo will spend N217.060 million on foreign travels and another N83.74 million on local travels.

The Office of the President would spend another N8,580,741 on the purchase of books in 2019, while N26,432,346 has been earmarked for the purchase of newspapers, and N3,511,909 set aside for magazines and periodicals.

These detailed breakdown by Igbere TV, are contained in the N8.9 trillion 2019 budget signed into law by President Muhammadu Buhari earlier this week.

Details of the budget also showed that the president is expected to expend N98.3 million for foodstuff, catering materials supplies, even as refreshment and meals would gulp another N25.7 million.

According to the budget, N3.822 billion was earmarked for annual routine maintenance of mechanical/electrical installations in the Villa, while another N576.747 million was set aside for the phased replacement of vehicles, spares and tyres in the presidential CVU, security/police escort and State House operational fleet.

The sum of N395.834 million was earmarked for the construction of the Presidential Wing of the State House Clinic, while N395.834 million would be spent on the construction of office buildings.

The President would also spend N164.176 million on honorarium and sitting allowance, as well as, N25.652 million on meals and refreshments.

The Office of the Chief Security Officer (CSO) to the President got the sum of N433.457 million for the purchase of a security and operational vehicles.

The State House Medical Centre was allocated a total of N798.856 million, with drugs and medicals supplies taking N208.350 million and N244.364 million earmarked for the purchase of health and medical equipment.

Conversion/upgrade of Villa Ranch and construction of wildlife conservation capture would take N27.463 million; while rehabilitation of animal enclosure/procurement of Vet Lab equipment was allocated a separate N11.865 million.

Other budgetary allocations for the first citizens include sporting activities N30.2m, purchase of sporting/gaming equipment N38 m, motor vehicle fuel cost N68m, plant/generator fuel cost N45. 7m and cooking gas N18. 6m.

Haven't done this before, but I want to know your honest, experienced and well thought out opinions. I'm really depressed but I won't take Snipper (that devil is a liar). If you don't have anything serious and reasonable to say, please, just read comments (I know as e dey be for here, sometimes).

Its quite a long read. Apologies for any grammatical or typographical error encountered.

Here is my story.

My younger sister who is staying with me disrespects me alot, and she doesn't take my advice. My parents stay very far away and I feel responsible for her. It frustrates me whenever I tell her something and she will wait to do it at her own time or not do it at all. She even sometimes abuses me indirectly.

She is 19, came to stay with me last year November, for a Predegree program, after staying at home for two years without admission. After the first semester of her program, her result was released and it was very disappointing. She made 51% in only one course of four courses, while others are below that. To be honest, I felt I failed in my responsibilities of giving her the right counsel, motivating her, and all that. All she does is press her phone all night long, that's if she isn't watching a movie with her phone. She'll sleep and wake up the next morning by 8 or 9am.

Recently, there's this guy who happens to be my late landlord's first son in the compound where we stay that she has been spending too much time with in dark corners and I can tell in my gut that he's up to no good. He doesn't go to work, school, church, nowhere. He just seats at home all day, smoking weed and any other smokable substance he can lay his hands on. Sometimes, his friends come around and they smoke and play PES 2011 on a laptop. Lest I forget, he's also a cultist. He has tried on several occasions to make me a yahoo boy, but I had to consciously refuse.

My apologies for the long read.

About a week ago, this guy asked her to cook indomie for him, and she did, using our gas, without telling me. This got me really up set. I had to take several deep breaths. I calmed down and allowed her finish. After she was done, I asked her to seat down and we started talking. While we were talking, she started responding rudely to me.

This made me hit her for the first time in 19 years (I hate hitting them). To my utmost surprise, she hit me back. That singular act made her receive a very hard beating that she sustained lots of injuries. She immediately called home and my parents where now shouting at me on phone. My dad came the next day and said lots of things. My mom said lots of things on phone which just piss me off the more, called me all sought of names. Said I shouldn't allow the devil that is controlling take me close to my sister.

Right now, I hate all of them. My dad, mum, and sister. If I was financially buoyant enough, I would have moved out of this house. I feel really depressed, being having nightmares and I so much hate the fact that am still living here.

By the way, am male, 24, studying Biochemistry, should have finished my first degree last year but I'm having an extra year (3 spill over courses).

How do I move from here? Advice me.

A  200 Level student of OUI (Oduduwa University) in Ile Ife, Osun State, was reportedly electrocuted to death while charging his phone. 

According to sources, the OUI student identified as  Ashante, was electrocuted to death while charging his phone on Wednesday night in Ipetumodu. It was gathered that the incident occurred during the downpour last night, just after the transformer supplying electricity to their area blew.

According to information reaching us at anaedoonline.com, a four-story building under construction has collapsed at Ezenwa street Onitsha, among the casualties listed are six persons including the building engineer who is trapped in a collapsed building.
