treesun: The Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, has defended the President’s economic record, citing the support of 33 governors and claiming that food prices have dropped and foreign investors are returning to Nigeria.
Onanuga made the remarks in a post on Friday while reacting to a clip shared by Arise TV on X featuring Obafemi George, a member of the Media and Strategic Communications Committee of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council.
He criticised television anchors for questioning Nigeria’s economic progress under Tinubu, accusing them of promoting the opposition’s narrative that nothing had improved since the President assumed office in 2023.
“TV anchors keep pushing the opposition’s narrative that nothing has changed, positively, indeed, massively, since 2023. Their position has become so ridiculous that they keep parroting the old narrative, and now they question the NBS data on receding inflation. I will advise them to revisit the markets,” he wrote.
The presidential aide claimed that the price of a bag of rice had fallen from about N120,000 to below N50,000, adding that it sold for N45,000 in his hometown.
Onanuga also cited Nigeria’s foreign reserves, access to foreign exchange for businesses and the ability of Nigerians to use naira cards abroad as signs of economic progress under Tinubu.
He said the country’s foreign reserves were approaching $60bn and argued that businesses could now obtain foreign exchange to import raw materials and equipment.
The presidential aide further disputed claims that returning investors were mainly portfolio investors, saying foreign direct investment was bringing capital into the economy and creating jobs.
“These facts are clear to anyone not blinded by partisanship and hatred for the leader who has laid a solid foundation for the economy and is poised to take the nation to a higher level of shared prosperity,” he added.

enemyofprogress: Toluwanisings- God is Not a Killer: The Lack of a Defibrillator and Poor Health System Killed Him.
I am sure we all know this our brother is now late. That is, he is dead.
We know him as Toluwanisings. His real name is Olayemi Bayonle Bolaji.
God did not call him home. The Incompetent Health System Did.
A lot of messages and farewell speeches have been authored to mourn him. But one thing I must say quickly is that most of them will be dishonest. Why?
Most of those speeches will say it is “Gods” will. Some will say maybe God called him home because he has fulfilled his assignment.
My people. It is all lies. God did not call him home. He slumped and died.
This brother slumped and had a window to survive it. But he was being moved from hospital to hospital. Then there are literally No defibrillators to even attempt to save his life, at least temporarily.
The evidence behind dying after slumping shows that the heart is responsible in 70 percent of such cases.
It is either the person has Cardiac arrest / arrhythmia, that is the Heart's electrical system short-circuits, heart stops pumping.
In another case, a massive heart attack where blood clot blocks coronary artery and then heart muscle dies quickly.
For many young Nigerians, Undiagnosed cardiomyopathy, the Heart muscle gets thickened/enlarged.
What usually happens is that when people slump, the heart is quivering and suffering from what they call “ventricular defibrillation”.
Guess what? The rate of survival drops by 10 percent, for every minute that a defibrillator is not applied.
This defibrillator is typically available in public places in the US and UK. The Lagos Blue Line now has defibrillators.
A decent defibrillator costs 900,000 to 1.5 million Naira.
We should have these things in public places, with training done for many Nigerians, especially motor park operators.
Many of our hospitals (primary and secondary health Centres) don’t even have it. And that is why they literally reject heart related issues.
If we have these machines in public parks and with trained people, we can increase survival rates of such heart/slumping.
Imagine that I made a post a few days ago that I have personally lost 4 people to such. Then this happened. Terrible!!! What a loss.
I must not forget to mention, heavy alcohol usage and chronic stress can also cause slumping.
Overall, let us increase our adoption of science to prevent these needless deaths.
Any pastor saying it is Gods will is just promoting an obsolete cliche. Where there is science to prevent such a death.
Our brother Toluwanisings died from an incompetent health system.
God did not call Toluwanisings. Incompetence called him.
When next a politician visits your church or mosque, ask them to provide these things. Tell them to fix our health system.
Whenever Yinka Alaseyori goes to sing for Lagos State, she should raise the issue with them.
When Tope Alabi meets them, she should tell them.
Mama Esther Ajayi and Pastor of Genesis, tell your friends to fix the health system. This is an opportunity.
Rest In Peace Toluwanisings. Nigeria failed you.

Christianity Etc › Re: "Men Dey" And Pastor Bolaji: Should Pastors Curse Their Members? by femi4: 8:48am On Oct 17 |
Mynd44: A lot of us have seen the video and there has been different responses to it where Pastor Bolaji Idowu, founder and lead pastor of Harvesters International Christian Centre (HICC) was addressing an issue in church about financial responsibilities of men to women in relationships. This must have hit a sour side of some women who believe that men are responsible for providing them with some level of financial relief and they responded "men dey".
The slogan "men dey" came from afrobeatz, it is a slogan that simply says "if this man or men are not willing to do something or cannot do something, there are men that are able and willing to". Basically when Pastor Bolaji told his congregation that they shouldn't expect men to give them money gifts or buy them iphones, they responded with if some men are not able to afford these things, there are men who will and the pastor's response? He removed his shoes, dusted then and said "do you know what the Bible says about when you reach somewhere and they don't accept your message, you dust your shoes" the he ended with "he that has ears, let him hear".
The action the respectable pastor did was actually a commandment of Jesus which are recorded in Matthew 10:14, Mark 6:11, Luke 9:5 and it was applied in Acts 18:6
Lets look at these verses. Note that this is a direct commandmend of Jesus
Matthew 10:14
Mark 6:11
Luke 9:5
Acts 18:6
Note that Pastor Bolaji while performing this action of taking off his shoes to dust then also made reference to this verse which he might have join as a joke and not out of anger but, he is their pastor and if you ask me, he somewhat cursed them or gave then up for judgment in that case.
While I do not hold brief for the congregation, I find their action nauseating and needless as to directly say that to the pastor means you are telling him he doesn't know what he is saying.
My question is Pastor Bolaji since cannot claim ignorance of his action, should he be allowed according to Christianity to curse his flock just because they refuse to listen to him? He could have prayed for insight and soft heart but that action he did, fell short a little Jesus didnt curse his folks. A shepherd never curses his sheep |

iwaeda: Police freed suspect, left me with N40m losses –Lagos car dealer
A car dealer, Chima Edmund, has accused the Lagos State Police Command of releasing a man suspected of attempting to steal a 2025 Toyota Tundra pickup worth about N130m from his showroom in the Victoria Garden City area of Lekki, Lagos State.
Edmund, founder of Mayor and Sheiks Autos, said the suspect allegedly drove the vehicle away from his showroom on Monday after posing as a prospective buyer but crashed it into a canal in the Ajiran area while attempting to escape.
The incident went viral on Tuesday, with the dealer estimating the cost of repairing the damaged vehicle at about N40m.
Speaking exclusively with PUNCH Metro on Thursday, Edmund said the suspect arrived at the dealership around 4pm carrying a bag and asked to inspect the pickup.
He said a junior staff member attended to the man, who requested the key to the unsold vehicle under the pretext of checking its engine.
“On Monday, the guy came to my outlet around 4pm. He met my junior staff and came in with a bag as a customer. He asked for the 2025 Toyota Tundra pickup, which costs around N130m, and demanded the key to check it. He dropped his bag inside it, and the staff watched him start the engine, thinking he only wanted to check it. But the man engaged the gear and drove off,” Edmund said.
According to him, the vehicle exited the dealership through a route that required a supporting slab because of the difference in elevation between the car stand and the main road.
He said the vehicle’s doors locked automatically when the suspect engaged the gear, after which he drove towards the VGC Bridge.
Edmund said his staff member pursued the vehicle but struggled to convince passers-by that the man behind the wheel was not the owner.
He alleged that the suspect drove through a residential estate in Ajah, damaged a barricade at the entrance and continued towards Chevron and Ebeano before heading to Ajiran.
“On getting to Ajiran, he could not find his way again. He realised he had driven to the end of the road, and when he could not proceed, he drove over the canal until the vehicle landed in it. That was when some boys dragged him out,” the dealer said.
Edmund said the escape attempt damaged the pickup and a barricade at the VGC entrance.
He added that he paid for repairs to the barricade and incurred expenses on the treatment of people injured during the incident, as well as the suspect’s feeding and other related costs.
The dealer said he also paid for the suspect’s medical treatment following the crash, adding that the man was not kept in a cell because of the injuries he sustained.
According to Edmund, the case was initially reported at the Ajah Police Division before being transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, Yaba, where two women who identified themselves as the suspect’s mother and sister visited him.
He said the women claimed to be from Agbor, Delta State, adding that he became concerned about recovering his expenses after learning that the suspect had been released on bail.
Edmund alleged that he was pressured to withdraw the case after investigators established that the suspect had a psychiatric condition.
“I am already suspecting foul play in the police dealings because I was hurried to close the case when the man was confirmed to be a psychiatric patient. Just yesterday evening, he had been released on bail.
“For somebody who caused me such heavy damage, how am I going to bear these losses alone, knowing that the culprit has been released? Somebody attempted to steal a car from my outlet. It is sad,” he said.
The dealer appealed for assistance in recovering from the financial losses, saying preliminary estimates put the cost of repairing the damaged Toyota Tundra at about N40m.
Edmund, who said he had been in the automobile business since 1996, described the incident as unprecedented in his nearly three decades in the trade.

[quote author=EmmyMaestro post=140927246]"I only have 60 days" — UK-based Nigerian woman seeks help after husband reportedly withdraws sponsorship
A Nigerian woman living in the United Kingdom has appealed for help after claiming that her husband withdrew her sponsorship, leaving her with 60 days to find another sponsor or risk having to leave the country.
In a video circulating on social media, the distressed woman said she had received a message from the UK Home Office informing her of the deadline.
She explained that the development had left her uncertain about her future, appealing to Nigerians and other well-meaning individuals to help her secure a new Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS).
Woman appeals for sponsorship
In the viral video, the woman said her husband had previously threatened to withdraw his sponsorship before eventually taking the reported action.
“The person I called my husband had been threatening me that he would remove me from his CoS, and he has finally done it,” she said.
She added that the message from the Home Office gave her 60 days to find another sponsor or leave the UK.
Expressing concern about her situation, the woman said she had not expected her circumstances to deteriorate this way.
“At this point, I feel like my life is gradually falling apart because I never expected something like this to happen to me,” she said.
She appealed to anyone who could connect her with a potential sponsor, saying she was willing to relocate if necessary.
“I only have 60 days. Otherwise, I will have to return to Nigeria, and I don’t want to go back to Nigeria. Please help me,” she added.
Social media user offers a different account
However, the person who shared the video online presented a different account of the events leading to the reported withdrawal of sponsorship.
According to the individual, the woman arrived in the UK about two years ago and allegedly received advice from friends who told her that divorcing her husband could lead to financial support from the government while allowing her to remain in the country.
The individual claimed that the woman subsequently told her husband she no longer wanted to continue the marriage and asked him to prepare for a divorce.
According to the post, the husband agreed to the separation and subsequently withdrew her sponsorship.
The person who shared the video further claimed that the woman was now seeking help to secure alternative immigration sponsorship before the deadline.
These claims about the couple’s marital dispute and the advice allegedly given to the woman have not been independently verified.

Igodomigodo419: Hello Nairalanders!
I seriously need help and a bit of advice right now. I've been a silent and observant Nairalander for a long time now.
My marriage is barely 6 months old. Got married to the girl of my dreams. I honestly didn't envisage marriage at this stage of my life but it happened because my wife sacrificed a lot for me, and for us to be living as man and wife.
I really love my wife so much, during our courtship, i flirted with girls online which at some point she caught me, and forgave me. But i still didn't learn my lesson, subsequently, this bad habit of mine of flirting with random girls online continued, even despite her catching me again, she still kept on trusting and forgiving me. Now we are married and still, I'm still in the habit of texting and flirting with random girls.
The one that broke her was this particular lady i was flirting with online, she caught feelings for me and even went as far as posting my Pictures with hers on her tiktok page, my wife saw it online and confronted me. I begged her for forgiveness and was trying to reassure her that it was just an online flirting.. She believed me again and trusted me one more time, but now this girl i flirted with online saw my marraige pictures online (ofcos i told her i was single), and now she'has messaged my wife via Facebook and exposed our chat of us flirting to her.
My wife called me from my office and confronted me of the chat (esp the part i told her i was not married). My wife has been crying ever since and i honestly don't know what to do.
I've begged her, but she's having none of it again. Please i love my wife so much and she's currently pregnant.
I'm ashamed of myself and devasted too. I really need all the encouragement and advice right now.
I will be reading your comment,😭🥺 Just apologise to her..life goes on |
