Speaking during a TikTok Live session following his public apology, Fatai said he had repeatedly tried to reach his father, sometimes through his friends, but struggled to get close to him.
“I have tried very much to get in touch with my father,” he said, adding, “Most of the time, I was not allowed to get close to him.”
Recounting his experience at his father’s 86th birthday celebration on January 12, 2026, Fatai said he received a VIP welcome but was allegedly stopped from approaching his father by his wife, Shade Okoya.
“I was turned back by Alhaja Shade Okoya,” he said, claiming he only wanted to greet his father, adding that his father saw him but did not speak, saying, “My father did not have anything to say.”

He recalled that his grandmother was unhappy about the prolonged rift and once questioned his father over the situation, asking, “What are you going to do to your brother and sister when I am gone?”
Chief Razaq Okoya’s brother, who was present during the session, also criticised the alleged intervention that prevented Fatai from seeing his father.
Fatai apologised again and appealed for an opportunity to reunite with his father, recalling how close they were during his childhood.
The host Yeyekudi called on billionaire businessman Baba Ijebu, a friend of Chief Razaq Okoya, to intervene and help facilitate their reconciliation.
New Telegraph had earlier reported on Fatai’s open letter asking for a chance at reconciliation after they became estranged because of conflicts on embezzled funds and clash on his life partner.

BlackViper: ●While polygamy in the UK itself is illegal and punishable as a criminal offence, British law still recognises the validity of polygamous marriages celebrated in other jurisdictions where they are regarded as lawful;
●The new law would close a loophole affecting a handful of polygamous households which allows them to receive welfare benefits and also clarify the rules on overseas marriages between close relatives;
●Critics claim that the new law could disproportionately impact Muslim migrant communities who come from countries where polygamous marriages and marriages between first cousins are regarded as legitimate and lawful
