I have a debate in my heart of the one I will join so I was so confused I brought it to the for advice, I am a young and upcoming fashion designer, I lost health tips, politics little football, and agriculture if Infact I never fail my agriculture science as a subject,

I Don't too like force like that, but I want to join because of the status and to avoid being intimidated, I am avarage statue person, I normally got intimidated I don't like being in cult instead of me to being in cult I rather join force,
I don't really like army because of war front because I not a rugged guy I am gentle

I will rather go for NDA to study and join as staff instead of direct soldier but I realize that I have past the age of being admitted to NDA (17- 22)

So decided to join DSS or efcc my question is how does it work,? how to join?, it's a good job, ? Can I combine the work with my fashion designing, it frustrating work , must I go to certain education to get a good grade in the job? And which educational section do the wanted most
Avoid Army unless you are tired of this World

Culture › Re: Eating At Funerals Is Wrong by femi4: 1:49pm On May 12
DanOkonkwo:
This is my opinion regarding this matter, going to eat at funerals is not appropriate. A place of funeral is not a place of celebration or feasting but a place of solemnity but unfortunately some persons or most cultures has made it a must that food of assorted kinds must be prepared and people MUST eat.
I think that this part of our culture must be looked into, because I cannot imagine a family that is struggling to make ends meet still mandated to go through hell to provide a big burial where food must be cooked and served, just to bury a loved one.
There are even some that even go about in the community looking for funerals ceremony just to find where to eat and even go with extra.
Well if a man has the money to spend lavishly or call the community to feast in a burial, it's up to him but this should not be a rule.

What do you think?
If you don't eat, the dead wont return

Do you celebrating every time you eat? The food is to say thank you for coming and its not mandatory

I am still a student of the university of uyo 25 years of age, I am writing this with deep pains in my heart . Our tenant ( a single mother) in our compound has a 19 year old daughter who stays with her father in another town oku iboku. She do occasionally visit her mother and spend at least a month with her mother (she's in ss3 though),Well when she do come to see her mother I normally don't talk to her because of my introvertedness untill she started asking wether I have a girlfriend, talking about sex etc it then got to a point she indirectly asked me to sex her. After the first sex we started having sex almost throughout that month last year ... I later proceeded in asking her out of which she agreed. Her mother bought a phone before she returned to the place she is schooling ( she wants to write waec) fast forward today she came two weeks ago.. she has stopped giving me attention and sex, most of the time ignores me as if I don't exist. I even overhead a guy asking wether she has seen her period on phone
I am so heartbroken... This is my first ever relationship, she kinda approach me first although indirectly I was kinda thinking it will last. She left today.... Please advise me it's really tough

Christianity Etc › Re: Did God Create Some People To Never Lack? by femi4: 7:06am On May 12
Dpsychologist:
I’ve been thinking about something that gets said a lot, especially in conversations around money, struggle, and success in Nigeria.

You often hear people say:

“God created some people to never lack.”

It sounds comforting, especially when life is hard. It gives a simple explanation for why things are unequal. But the more you look at real life closely, the more that explanation starts to fall apart.

Because when you look around in places like Nigeria, the differences we see between people are very clear. Some people are born into stability, good education, and access. Others are born into environments where just surviving is already a struggle.

Now the question is, did God deliberately assign all of that at birth?

Or is something else going on?

If we are being honest, a big part of what shapes people’s outcomes is not just divine assignment, but also foundation.

Some people are simply starting from a place where someone before them already laid something down. Maybe it’s land. Maybe it’s education. Maybe it’s a business. Maybe it’s just connections built over time and that advantage did not appear randomly. It was built by effort, decisions, and sometimes sacrifice from earlier generations.

On the other hand, there are people who are also working hard, but they are starting from weaker foundations. Fewer opportunities, less structure, challenging environment and sometimes systems that are already stacked against them. So even if the effort is there, the outcome is slower or harder to see.

In moments like that, people often shift to spiritual explanations. Things like curses, attacks, my village people or “it’s just my destiny.”
This happens especially when someone is trying repeatedly and still not seeing results, it becomes easier to believe there is something beyond the physical blocking them.

But here is where I think we need to be careful.

If we believe in a loving God and that he is faithful and just, then the idea that He deliberately created some people to permanently suffer while others automatically succeed becomes difficult to reconcile. It raises questions that don’t have easy answers.

What makes more sense when we look at reality is that outcomes are shaped more by systems, environment, access, and decisions over time, rather than fixed divine favoritism.

In Nigeria specifically, this is even more obvious because opportunity is not evenly distributed. Where you are born, who you know, and what you are exposed to often has a huge impact on where you end up.

This does not mean prayer or faith is not important and it also does not mean effort does not matter. It just means we should be careful about replacing real-world causes with simple spiritual explanations that stop us from thinking deeper and working towards success.

Because once someone believes “this is just how God made it,” they stop asking questions, stop building, and stop looking for solutions.

But when you start to see that a lot of what we call destiny is actually shaped by structure and choices, your mindset changes. You start focusing more on what can be built, improved, or changed.

At the end of the day, what we are seeing is not random assignment. It is layered outcomes built over time and understanding that changes how you see life, responsibility, and even opportunity.

Happy Sunday Nairalanders. May be love of God be with you all.

Family › Re: How Do Men Become Bold, Fearless And Confrontational? by femi4: 6:56am On May 12
iyke484real:
Good evening fellow Nairalanders.

Something happened today that has really made me question myself as a man, and I sincerely need honest advice from mature minds here.

Earlier today, my younger one went to the field to play football. After some time, he came back home crying seriously with blood rushing from his head. According to him, he had an altercation with someone much bigger than him, and the person picked up a stick and hit him on the head.

Immediately, I became angry and asked him to take me to the field to identify the person that injured him. Deep down, I was expecting myself to react aggressively because I felt any normal man would naturally defend his younger one and confront the person strongly.

When we got there and I saw the guy, something happened to me. Instead of fighting or causing a serious scene, I just started asking questions about what happened. I couldn’t bring myself to react violently or aggressively the way many people probably would have. I eventually carried my younger one and went back home.

Since then, I have been feeling ashamed and disappointed in myself.

The painful part is that this is not the first time I have noticed this about myself. I always seem to avoid problems, confrontations, or situations that may escalate. Even when I am angry, I still start thinking about consequences, expenses, police issues, public embarrassment, injuries, and other complications that may arise if things get out of hand.

Because of this, I often withdraw instead of standing my ground fully.

Now I am beginning to feel like I am too timid and not confrontational enough as a man should be. Sometimes I feel weak, powerless, and unable to command respect the way other men do. I see some people react boldly in difficult situations while I keep overthinking consequences and avoiding escalation.

Honestly, it is affecting the way I see myself.

Please, I need sincere advice from experienced people here:

- How can someone stop being too timid or fearful?
- How do you become more confident and confrontational when necessary?
- How do you stand your ground as a man without always retreating?
- Is this kind of behavior weakness, or is there another way to look at it?
- What practical things can I start doing to become mentally stronger and more assertive?

I would genuinely appreciate honest advice, especially from men who may have struggled with similar issues before overcoming them.
You did the right thing. You dont just jump into a fight without knowing the full details

Your brother is probably at fault
Car Talk › Re: Is It Wise To Buy A Manual Transmission As A First Car? by femi4: 6:53am On May 12
GideonG:
Hello Nairalanders,

Please I need your honest advice.

I am considering buying a Toyota Corolla 2010 as my first car, but the one I am seeing is manual transmission. I know most people prefer automatic, especially in city traffic, but I also hear that manual cars can be cheaper to maintain, more fuel-efficient, and sometimes more durable if handled well.

My concern is that this will be my first car, and I am still thinking about whether manual transmission is a good idea for a beginner, especially with Nigerian traffic and daily movement.

Please for those who have used manual cars before, especially Corolla manual:

Is it advisable for a first-time car owner?

Is the maintenance easier or cheaper than automatic?

Will it be stressful in traffic?

Does it affect resale value badly?

What should I check before buying a manual Corolla 2010?

I will appreciate your sincere advice before making payment.

Thank you.
