AnonPoet: The FIFA World Cup 2026 is down to its final four, and the tournament has delivered exactly the semi-finals many expected before it began.
France, Spain, England and Argentina are all former world champions. They also occupy the top four places in the FIFA World Rankings and were widely regarded as the favourites before the tournament kicked off. Now, only two matches separate them from a place in the final.
France and Spain Renew a Modern Rivalry The first semi-final on Tuesday, 14 July at 8:00 pm reunites two European heavyweights who have become familiar foes in recent years.
France booked their place by beating Sweden, Paraguay and Morocco, while Spain overcame Austria, Portugal and Belgium. Mikel Merino once again proved Spain's hero, coming off the bench to score the winner for the second consecutive knockout match.
Spain beat France 2-1 in the UEFA Euro 2024 semi-finals before edging another thriller 5-4 in the 2025 UEFA Nations League semi-finals. Now, France have the chance to settle the score with a place in the World Cup final on the line.
England and Argentina Finally Collide The second semi-final follows on Wednesday, 15 July at 8:00 pm, as England and defending champions Argentina meet at a World Cup for the first time since 2002.
England defeated DR Congo, Mexico and Norway to get here, while Argentina overcame Cape Verde, Egypt and Switzerland to keep their title defence alive.
With Lionel Messi chasing another World Cup and England pursuing their first title since 1966, another memorable chapter awaits.
The Golden Boot Race Is Still Wide Open
The race for the Golden Boot is just as tight as the race for the trophy. Messi and Kylian M bappé lead with eight goals each, while England teammates Jude Bellingham and Harry Kane have six apiece. France's Ousmane Dembélé remains in contention with five goals and two assists.
With all four teams still boasting match-winners, the semi-finals could reshape both races. Semi-final Fixtures

Politics › Re: 5 Signs Nigeria Has Damaged Your Mindset (a Wake Up Call) by femi4: 4:25pm On Jul 14 |
PrinceOogaBooga: 5 SIGNS NIGERIA HAS DAMAGED YOUR mindset (A WAKE UP CALL)
The average Nigerian is intelligent but suffers very subtle mental issues, here are 5 proofs.
1)You go to Church or mosque to pray to God to solve the Problems a working government should provide.
Nothing makes Prayer Warriors like a bad Economy and a Government that fails to provide amenities that are seen as basic necessities in other parts of the world. The church is not primarily created to meet your needs ..that's one of the mind damage that Nigeria has done to you.
If God should give us a good government over half the christians in Nigeria will have no use for God.
A lack of Amenities, like electricity, road transports, livable neighborhoods, food and water provision Are not Hallmarks of good governance . They are not the peak of God’s love, so you don't have to die praying and fasting for them
They are not the product of Hardwork, so it's not a function of your squalor and labour. But the average Nigerian believes otherwise.
That is why unlike every working country where these are seen as basic necessities. The average Nigerian thinks he is only entitled to this, if he prays and fast and pays tithes to God like a good christian or Muslim.
Or if he cheats his way through work and bribes the most people or hustles the most.
What this does is that,
It removes accountability from the politicians and puts it on us or God.
You may argue that Nigerians demand their government to do better. Yes they do, but not enough because they don't Expect them to actually do better
And why do they not expect, because of this mental damage I am talking about.
We subconsciously do not expect them to improve for a plethora of psychological reasons And this is the difference between Nigerians and other countries where their citizens are not mentally shackled.
2)No Real Outrage
Nigerians are not shocked by anything. There can be Power outages for a whole year, 40 Children kidnapped across all states, and a whole village can be wiped out.
And all Nigerians will do is post, shout, rant and make skits.
And this is not external, it's not like they are not doing anything because they physically can't, who can fight the government? That's what they say.
No, it's not just about the actual physical powerlessness, it's the mental cage of adaptation to suffering that psychological damages our ability to be outraged by injustice..
In contracts You see the outrage in US and European Citizens over ordinary social changes? Because they are shocked that elected leaders fail to do the needful.
Imagine the outrage that would rock the developed world if electricity suddenly became unstable, if schools went on strike, if they now had to pray to God to release hundreds of school children from the den of kidnappers. It's not about the country , it's the people
We are mentally handicapped to even be outraged enough And until those shackles are broken No new election
No new candidate No protest No party No tragedy, no New kidnapping across all secondary schools, no New Herdsmen attack No Boko Haram bombing No new News of looting and stealing and corruption Will Force the Nigerian to break out of his mental shackle he will adapt And continue like that enslaved fish, a worthy bondservant of his liquid cage.
3)Complain has become your coping mechanism
The African complains a lot and immediately goes back into fields of slave labour…instead of taking action, he cries and continues his wallowing.
The average Nigerian believes in complaining like his life depends on it.
When they see those who actually take action, they are shocked …that's why everyone is still waiting for the government to deal with the bandit Fulani insurgent… Folding their hands till they are wiped off the face of the earth, waiting for “Government to handle security issues”
Once they see who actually fights back they are shocked and bewildered..some will shamelessly ask “why jungle Justice”?
Because the average Nigerian is a coward and an expert in complaining..why because that's his coping mechanism
4) You Don't Know how to exist in a system without Corruption.
Churches are filled every Sundays Mosque are filled every fridays Nigerians are very religious But lack the Knowledge to exist in an incorrupt system.
How can a Nigerian survive in a system where you can't pay money to someone to “Run it for you”(whatever the context may be)
How can you just exist where they can't “work it” where you can't settle someone to settle another someone..
This is not a moral write up, it's purely idealogical…
Why Nigerians are like this is because this is the only system we have ever known.
Nigerians can never be saved until they realize that their problem is more internal than external. Lack of electricity, insecure travel routes, the increasing uselessness of the naira and the unsure future of the economy isn't our main problem. The reason why year in year out we continue to wallow around the issue of good governance with no end in sight is because we have been conditioned into abnormality. And if existence in abnormality is all we have ever known, that remains our natural habitat.
We can complain all day, but if we lack how to function in a normal society we will never find a way out of that situation.
It's like a fish wishing for fresh air, No, all you know is the river and the seas. Fresh air may look nice, but your desire for it doesn't in any way mean that you know how to survive there.
In other words, like a fish we don't even know how to survive outside our natural ecosystem.
An average Nigerian has been mentally incapacitated and it's made worse because he doesn't know it.
The masters of our pain understand this and they have used it to consolidate and isolate power.
5) You are insensitive to Children
You may think this isn't mental damage, but it actually is, the average Nigerian had such a corrupt and abusive childhood that he has become insensitive to kids
In working society's, child marriage, child labour, child physical abuse aren't issue to rant about online, or make post or create online outrage while the problem continues.
These are issues people RISE and Ensures it is put to a stop But aside from rejecting it from your family and friends in Jesus name, the average Nigerian doesn't care.
the begging almajiri on the street, or that small boy following a blind man about when he should be in school, invokes nothing but a slight discomfort in you .
Mental Illness…that we must remedy with knowledge
There is a solution and I and my Generation will soon share it, it's a matter of time
A side Note(on God’s Plan for Nigeria) Also a mental damaging of expecting God to send angels to save Nigeria, when it comes to economic turnaround, that has never happened and we never happen, we are the ones who need a mindshift.
Nigeria isn't the center of Gods agender..God is after souls, And souls are everywhere, if a nation continues to mismanage resources it will remain poor and God will still be God.
God In the US, God in China and God in Nigeria. If we don't follow the steps to nation building we will be poor and God will still get his souls one way or the other.
Share this across Every known known outlet…let's wake up our Youths
You don't need to know my name…for now

Sam8891: Cement For ₦15,000 While The Rest Of Africa Buys Cheaper — See The Numbers
If you've priced a building project in the last two years, you already know the pain. A bag of cement that should be a routine line item has become a whole budget event. I put together the numbers across 20 African countries. Nigeria is verified from a news report, most others are structural estimates (marked clearly so nobody quotes me wrong). Long read, but worth it.
WHAT'S CONFIRMED
Nigeria: The Guardian reported on 7 July 2026 that a 50kg bag sells for about ₦15,000, and called it "nearly double Africa's average." At ₦1,382–1,425/$1, that's $10.53–10.85 a bag. And this is happening despite Nigeria having a cement GLUT — we produce more than we use.
Tanzania: The Citizen reported manufacturers pushing prices toward Sh18,000/bag (9 July 2026). I couldn't verify a clean USD conversion so treat that one as unverified, roughly $6.50–7.50.
Ghana: CemNet reported cement inflation at NEGATIVE 14.5% year on year as of 26 June 2026. No exact cedi price was in that report, so ignore any specific figure floating around — the confirmed part is that prices are falling there, not rising.
If Nigeria's price is "nearly double" the continental average, that puts the African average around $5.30–5.70/bag. We're paying roughly 85–105% above that.
THE FULL 20-COUNTRY SPREAD (USD per 50kg bag, mid-2026. Only Nigeria is verified, Tanzania's conversion is unverified, everything else below is a structural estimate — not a quoted price.)
West Africa - Nigeria — $10.53–10.85 (verified) — producer pricing power, glut notwithstanding - Ghana — inflation −14.5% YoY (unverified price level) — easing - Côte d'Ivoire — $6.50–7.50 (estimate) — coastal hub, branded premium - Senegal — $6.00–7.00 (estimate) — import + regional producers - Cameroon — $6.50–7.50 (estimate) — dual factory + import - Mali/Burkina/Niger — $8.00–10.00 (estimate) — Sahel logistics, import dependence
East Africa - Tanzania — $6.50–7.50 (unverified) — manufacturer hikes, clinker import - Kenya — $6.50–7.50 (estimate) — imported inputs, FX pressure - Uganda — $5.50–6.50 (estimate) — landlocked, supplied via neighbours - Ethiopia — $5.00–6.00 (estimate) — state-linked integrated plants - Sudan — $8.00–10.00 (estimate) — conflict-disrupted supply
North Africa - Egypt — $4.50–5.50 (estimate) — big local capacity, cheap gas - Algeria — $4.50–5.50 (estimate) — state-linked integrated plants - Morocco — $6.50–7.50 (estimate) — CIMAF hub, coal energy cost - Tunisia — $5.00–6.00 (estimate) — mature local industry
Southern Africa - South Africa — $6.00–7.00 (estimate) — mature oligopoly - Zambia — $5.50–6.50 (estimate) — power-cost pressure - Zimbabwe — $7.00–8.50 (estimate) — FX disorder, power shortage - Angola — $5.00–6.00 (estimate) — oil revenue offsets import - Mozambique — $5.50–6.50 (estimate) — coastal, regional trade - DRC — $8.00–9.50 (estimate) — near-landlocked, logistics penalty
Continental weighted average is roughly $5.30–6.50/bag.
WHY THE PRICES DIFFER SO MUCH
1. Energy — kilns run on coal, petcoke or gas. Algeria and Egypt have cheap domestic energy and sit at the bottom. Anyone importing energy for their kilns pays more, full stop.
2. Local vs imported clinker — an integrated plant grinds its own clinker locally and is shielded from freight shocks. A grinding-only market imports clinker and eats freight and currency risk at the same time. That's a big reason East Africa runs pricier than North Africa.
3. Freight and landlocked penalty — inland transport adds real cost per kilometre. Uganda, Zambia, Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger, and near-landlocked DRC pay an estimated extra $1–3 a bag just moving it inland. DRC is the worst case on the continent.
4. Exchange rate (and a correction people keep getting wrong) — a lot of people blame the naira. That's not it. The naira was actually appreciating over this period. Nigeria's Works Minister pinned the price on producer pricing power, not currency. FX is a real driver in Zimbabwe and Kenya — it's just misapplied to Nigeria.
5. Producer concentration — fewer producers, higher prices. Nigeria is the textbook case: Dangote and BUA dominate, and we lead the continent on price despite having surplus capacity. South Africa's big three do something similar. Egypt, Algeria and Morocco (where CIMAF forces real competition) price lower because supply is either state-linked or genuinely competitive.
THE OWNERSHIP MAP HAS QUIETLY CHANGED
Most people are still arguing about this with outdated info. In the last 12 months:
- Lafarge Africa — still called a Holcim company by a lot of people — was actually acquired by Huaxin Cement of China in August 2025. - Bamburi Cement (Kenya) went to Amsons Group of Tanzania in 2025–2026. - Dangote Cement is still Dangote Industries. - BUA is still BUA Group. - CIMAF runs out of Morocco across West Africa. - Heidelberg Materials still holds North/Southern Africa footprint. - Suez Cement (Egypt) sits under Titan Cement International. - Mugher (Ethiopia) is state-linked. - PPC and AfriSam (South Africa) remain domestic. - East African Portland Cement has been rising in Tanzania under Edha Nahdi.
The old "Holcim and Lafarge run African cement" story is dead. Chinese and Tanzanian capital now sit where European names used to be.
WHAT THIS MEANS IF YOU'RE A BUYER OR INVESTOR
Shipping finished bags across borders to arbitrage the price gap doesn't work — cement is heavy and low-value (about 1.5 tonnes per cubic metre), and freight plus handling alone eats $0.80–1.50 a bag before inland logistics finish the job.
Also correcting myself here — clinker moves across borders not because it's "higher value" than finished cement, it's actually the opposite. Clinker is the lower-value semi-finished input; it trades on bulk and shelf-life, not on value density.
The real openings are: clinker/grinding supply into deficient markets, energy-efficient kiln and packing tech into high-margin markets like Nigeria and DRC, agency deals with low-cost producers, and low-carbon certification once the EU's carbon border rules reach construction materials.
BOTTOM LINE
A documented glut plus a near-double-average retail price is the signature of pricing power, not scarcity. Ghana shows the alternative — prices actually falling because the market structure allows it. Nigeria's price doesn't have to stay this high if competition and distribution improve.
It's not the naira. The minister said so, and the currency moved the other way while prices climbed. The real question: in a country that makes more cement than it uses, why is the citizen paying almost double the African average?
Sources - Guardian Nigeria, 7 July 2026 — "Despite glut, local cement price nearly doubles Africa's average" - The Citizen (Tanzania), 9 July 2026 — cement prices toward Sh18,000 - CemNet, 26 June 2026 — Ghana cement inflation −14.5% YoY - Billionaires.Africa, 3 June 2026 — Nigeria cement sector Q1 2026 profit - eciks.org — Abdul Samad Rabiu comments on BUA pricing - Exchange rate ₦1,382–1,425/$1, July 2026
If you have the real factory-to-retail landing cost, drop it. If your state buys cheaper or dearer than ₦15k, say so with location. If you're in the industry and can confirm or correct the ownership list, floor is yours. We started buying at 1k5 till 13k as at Jan....15k no dey move us. We go even buy when it is 20k Na tenants go suffer am |

[quote author=EmmyMaestro post=140014703] "My body is my body" — Claimed police officer allegedly caught masturbating inside public busA disturbing video circulating on social media has sparked widespread outrage after showing a man, who claimed to be a police officer, allegedly masturbating inside a commercial bus while it was in transit. The footage shows the man seated beside a female passenger, who openly accused him of sexually harassing her during the journey. According to the woman, the self-proclaimed police officer was allegedly masturbating while sitting next to her. She repeatedly questioned his conduct, expressing disbelief that a grown man would engage in such an act in a public vehicle while allegedly staring at her. Rather than deny the allegation, the man confronted the woman and questioned why she was interfering in what he described as his personal business. As the confrontation escalated, the man allegedly became aggressive. The video shows him attempting to intimidate the woman while other passengers intervened to calm the situation. He reportedly threatened to assault her and claimed he could have her arrested, saying her family would have to come and secure her release. Responding to the woman’s accusation, the man insisted that whatever he was doing was nobody else’s concern. “My body is my body. If I am even doing anything, it’s not your business,” he said. The incident has since triggered widespread condemnation online, with many social media users calling for authorities to investigate the matter, particularly the man’s claim that he is a police officer. isaiah4life: Good day, Nairalanders.
I honestly need to know if I'm the only one experiencing this or if this has become the new normal in Abuja.
Within the past one month, I have attended interviews at three different organizations (names withheld) for the position of Administrative Assistant. Like many job seekers, I was simply trying to get something doing while navigating these difficult times.
The process was always the same. I applied online, submitted my CV, and after reviewing it, they invited me for an interview. I assumed I had at least made it past the first stage.
To my surprise, when I arrived at each venue, I was asked to submit another hard copy of my CV which was fair enough.
At one of the interviews, we were instructed to dress in corporate business attire. I travelled all the way from Saburi to Games Village, spending money I could barely afford. When I got there, I noticed I was the only candidate wearing a full suit. The other two female candidates were out of line with their dressing. I didn't think much of it because I believed the interview would determine who got the job.
We all waited for almost three hours. Then the owner of the organization came out, thanked everyone for coming, and asked the security officer to call out the names of those who would proceed. He added, "If you don't hear your name, you can leave."
The two ladies' names were called. Mine wasn't. No interview. No questions. No opportunity to introduce myself. Nothing. I quietly picked up my bag and trekked to the nearest cab junction around Area 1 to augment my transportation.
Unfortunately, this same experience has happened to me three different times this month in different organizations around Games Village, Wuse, and Gwarinpa.
What I don't understand is this: If you've already reviewed my CV online and found me qualified enough to invite me, why ask me to spend money on transportation, print another CV, wait for hours, and then send me home without giving me even one minute to speak?
Why invite candidates if they won't even be interviewed? Has anyone else experienced this recently? In your next life, know person that know the CEO or come back as a woman |

He never pays our kids school fees 100%, I'll always have to balance the rest cos I do not want embarrassment from their school.
We moved abroad some years ago and no he says he'll drive my kids out of the house once they clock 14, but he is training his family children who are over 25 years old. Well, I don't have many, I can train them but I truly regret this marriage,
I am never going to advise anyone ot marry.
Coming abroad, this man would sit and call those in Nigeria for hours daily, he is never serious with his work and will chose to work form home until he got sacked and since then he's being struggling to get a job and I am getting blammed daily. He said his friends called him to warn him never to give me a smiling face, they dont know I have never had a smiling face from him and this man has gone from bad to worst.
You all who it to read social media comments over men who cry woes abroad, if I leave this one now and he comes on social media, you all will start to condemn the woman without listening to her. Am in pain, it has gone from worse while in Nigeria to worst here abroad. Everyday he says marriages dont work abroad, regret coming but go back he is refusing saying we must all go back with him. I cant, I rather remain here and cut off from all my friends and family.
Maybe I remained in the marriage because of shame from people around. And I am not from that loving family so they'll laugh me.
Am so sad; at times, I just feel I never said yes to him, I had many other suitors. but I considered him because he was nice then, things changed the very first day we got married, he started telling me all the evil advise his family had advised him.
I regret building with him; I should have invested on my own.
He has never bought even a shirt for his kids, shoes, toys, christmas cloths, nothing, i Mean notihng, never. when their school asked they buy laptops, he said they are not of the age, nothing. But this man dishes out money to others. I have been supportive enough, but still not appreciated. All i get is name calling, I have never since our marriage of 16 years received a gift, I dont know what it looks like. They have never owrn christmas dress bought by their father. And which school will ask kids to buy a laptop? Are you guys living above your means? If hes useless in Nig, he ll definitely be useless in abroad |
