Education / Re: Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU ) Has The Most Beautiful Campus In Nigeria? by FemiMaduka(m): 8:16am On Feb 28, 2020
No doubt, OAU is scenic. The gentle hill at the back of the campus gives a wonderful view as though it was some portrait set in the studio of a bohemian artist. It may (emphasis on may) be about the most beautiful in Nigeria, but that is where it ends. All that crap about it being the most beautiful in Africa remains what it is— smouldering crap; there are way more sophisticated and beautiful campuses in South Africa, Egypt, Tunisia etc. Even Legon (Ghana) is formidable.

In sheer size and political clout, Ahmadu Bello University has no peer in West Africa. ABU also has the most diverse student population. It is, perhaps, the most cosmopolitan (and truly federal) Nigerian university.

Covenant University is going places.

I've never read of anytime an artifact was returned or asked to be returned to the South East.
Our white exploiters through the ages couldn't find anything worth stealing there.

You and everybody that gave you a like are idiots. You obviously have never read about the famed Igbo-ukwu artwork and civilization; just like the Nok, Benin and Ife. Bloody nonentity.

P.S.: I didn't insult you really. You made a buffoon of yourself and the folks that liked your post bought into it.

If the bout goes the distance, Fury will win. Wilder needs to hit Fury hard and fast so as to get either a K.O. or multiple K.Ds.. Wilder needs to really go in stark wild and brawly, or else Fury will outfox him with superior movement and techniques.

It's nice DSTV is billed to show it. It will be worth every penny.

I have it 55%/45% in favour of Fury.

Abia State has been largely very unfortunate. I am befuddled at how the people almost always get to elect folks with no iota of ideas to run the affairs of the state.

Curiously, the entrepreneurial inclination of Abians is top-notch. The state can easily be the technology hub of West Africa, but this issue of leadership rudderlessness has consigned it to the mess it presently wallows in.

Abia State is a blight.

Enough of this road please. We can not continue to gloat over a tract of road. I read on Twitter as some folks asserted that Kaduna is now competing with Johannesburg; few things are as ridiculous and nonsensical as this.

I was in Kaduna about three months ago, and I was very disappointed by the state of infrastructure and general appearance. We can't be this clueless and still suffer a mediocre taste.

This is embarrassing.

Anti-aircraft... shocked sad

There's no way he could have survived because those guns are designed to blast through metal and steel, how much less the delicate human body?

Why in God's name will anyone fire an AAG where people are? The armed forces need to subject all their officers to psychological evaluation and fish out all the werey Alaso masquerading as officers.

Just look at what the lunatic was firing carelessly. Jesus

Don't be misled. The 'AAG' (sic) refered to is most definitely a Russian DShk 12.7mm heavy machine gun mounted on a Toyota Landcruiser truck. It is in the light category of autocannons. It is a mainstay of the Nigerian Army in suppressive fire roles.

P.S.: Though I'd personally prefer the mounted KPV 14.5mm which packs more punch and has a longer range. Boko haram seldomly uses this, and whenever it is used our soldiers usually do not have an answer for it. The NA does not use heavy anti-aircraft artillery (14.7mm and above) in anti-personnel roles.

Note: the second picture is the heavier KPV.

(6) Samson Mangai who was arrested in Plateau state attempting to bomb a church was a christian..

(9) Case of the Christian bomber lynched while escaping after blasting the COCIN Church of Jos on Sunday, February 26, 2012.

(10) Mr Alex Danladi involved in COCIN HQ bombing was lynched by worshipers. He was a church member disguised in military

(11) Jonathan Gyanet, police officer was arrested while attempting to bomb ERCC church in Akwanga Nasarawa state on Apri 20 2014 was also a Christian.

And many more including Nathaniel Samuel who attempted to bomb living faith Church in Kaduna yesterday 02 February 2020. And he is not a Muslim..

May God continue to expose our common enemies trying to destabilize our beloved country Nigeria..

There is a common denominator in ALL of these: a CHURCH. It is either a church was bombed by a Christian, or there was an attempt at bombing a church by a Christian. The discerning minds would have asked: why is the target NEVER a Mosque? I am certain that no Muslim, however fanatic and hardline, would have the temerity to invade a Mosque in order to facilitate a redflag. Even Boko Haram and co. do not target a Mosque unless they have concluded that the worshippers have become 'kafirun'.

This recent one ticks all the boxes of a red flag operation. The timing, circumstances and script especially.

Conscious manipulation of facts. Attempts at blunting the pattern and muddling up the issue. This country has evil forces at its base! The Nigerian government has terrorists and terrorist-sympathizers within its ranks, no doubt. You can't pull some operations off without having powerful backing.

Even if we were to concede that there have been some pockets of Christian-related incidents, however, there have been thousands of cases (reported and unreported) of religion-influenced terrorism in Nigeria. Twelve (12), or even fifty (50), does not amount to 1% of the whole. It does not change the fact that 98% of these incidents in Nigeria have been related to Islam. I am NEVER a bigot, but I am also not a fool.

Boko Haram, ISWAP and Ansaru will ALWAYS be tied to Islam till the Muslim-North reassesses itself. Deal with it! It's the fact, even if it hurts.

Why are the Fulɓe (Fulani people) at war with almost everybody? Can everyone be 'wrong' and 'unjust' to the Pullo man (Fulani man)?

Anybody with a good taste for information and knowledge should go check it up: the Fulani nomadic pastoralists are at 'war' with locals in almost all the countries in the sub-region—even in Guinea where they seem to have originated from.

Their unimaginative obstinacy and refusal to embrace modernity will eventually make them an endangered specie in West Africa and beyond. If our forebears could bin the bow-and-arrow and the everyday hunting and gathering routine, I see no justifiable reason why the Fulɓe should not refine their ways.

They may be a warlike people, but they should be introspective enough to figure that they won't survive a conspiracy. Peace begets peace.

Nairaland is a microcosm of Nigeria; stark ignorance and hypocrisy are deeply entrenched. You'd be surprised to find out that a good number of the guys that spill garbage are actually grown-ups—some are even married with families. Imagine how a family headed by a very foolish man would fare!

Igboland cuts across areas designated as SE and SS (with some portions actually falling within the NC). No—and I mean NO—geopolitical zone is homogenous. There are Ijaw people native to the SW (Ondo); there are Igala people native to the SE (Anambra and Enugu)...same for the other four geopolitical zones. None is homogenous.

Now I'd employ an analogy: how would it sit if Dino Melaye, a Yorubaman from the NC (Kogi), is appointed to represent the SW? Definitely it would be an aberration. That is exactly the point of the Op.

P.S.: I think IGNORANCE is actually the chain holding Africa down today.

At times, we have to tell ourselves the truth no matter how inconvenient it is. When some folks called the core-north 'parasites', we were all pissed and all that. But in all honesty, are the voices from the core-North not acting true to that designation presently? Or else, why is the core-North suddenly more concerned about UNITY and the preservation of the status quo? The same core-North where the blood of hundreds of thousands of Nigerians have been spilled in senseless, backward ethno-religious riots dating back to 1945. These same folks have MIRACULOUSLY become evangelists for unity.

The truth is: the South has been subsidizing the North since 1914, and, unfortunately, the North has lost belief in its ability to self-prosper, so it would do ANYTHING to make sure this CURSED status quo continues even if it means everyone drowns.

Until every constituent part of Nigeria draws from its inner reserves of strength and ingenuity to self-prosper and self-profit, Nigeria will continue to grovel.

Amotekun, in its full ramifications, is the first step towards emancipation—for all Nigerians (North and South); it must not fail.

Of course, any reportage that has Southeast or Igbo in it sells fast like virus in Nigeria (just like Nairaland), whether it is false or not. The level of conceited ignorance and hypocrisy in Nigeria is über-high. I hope the folks that came here to rant and denigrate Ndigbo and the SE, when this fake news broke, can see how VERY FOOLISH and 'unwoke' they are.

Let me tell you all: whether you are Igbo, Hausa or Yoruba, this trashiness is bountifully spread across Nigeria—no exception. So when you typically come out for each other's throats, I laugh, it is what fools do.

Blame the Media and Hollywood

Don't meddle in foolery!

Yea, we know the effect Hollywood and the west-controlled media have had, but we still have to reckon with reality: the US military takes up more than 55% percent of the world's annual military budget. It is the deadliest fighting machine ever known to man.

The fact that it has that outsized influence, through entertainment and news media, is only a testament to how powerful it is. It's a positive; it was earned. China and Russia would give anything to have such 'soft power'.

Denying the obvious doesn't make you look woke.

P.S.: before you start talking about Vietnam and Afghanistan, know this: all sides lose in a war.

The tremor from the blasts certainly gave the servicemen the concussion symptoms. And since, according to the news, the symptoms surfaced days after the incident, then Trump can not really be vilified on this for saying there were no casualties. Trump reported on the basis of on-the-spot assessment.

It was an already bad situation. About 221 persons, including about 190 Iranians, had already been killed in circumstances directly related to the killing of Qassem. So it is for the good of everyone that the US chose to deescalate. Let's not make unnecessary points.

Politics / Re: Amotekun: Who Ordered Registration In Churches? - MURIC Raises Alarm by FemiMaduka(m): 9:35am On Jan 17, 2020
Two things can be gleaned from this MURIC position:

1. Akintola, leader of MURIC, is subtly against the formation of Amotekun but very careful to conceal this so as to not incur the wrath of his compatriots from the SW. Or else, how could MURIC be so quick to pick silly holes (silly because the allegation is outright silly) in the activities of a group (Amotekun) that has barely started. This is clearly a coordinated action: ACF, MACBAN and the Fulani-sympathetic FG have made their positions known, MURIC has also been vectored (as an in-house saboteur) to lend its voice so as to arrive at a crescendo.

2. MURIC is also playing the devil's advocate for the Fulani socio-political group, Myetti Allah, but it is clever enough to start the list of the non-natives who need to be protected with 'Igbo, Itsekiri and Igbira', while placing its real interest in distant number 5 (and 4)—first-rate subterfuge.

My Conclusion:

MURIC is essentially a tool in the hands of the Fulani aristocracy. Just as the Sardauna promised that the conquered 'minorities' will be a 'willing tool' in their hands. Demographically, the Muslims of Yoruba nativity are a minority group in matters pertaining to Islam in Nigeria. So the Sardauna agenda is still much on course.

Though headed by a Yoruba man, its allegiance is to the Fulani caliphate and aristocracy. It was faced with the choice of either standing in solidarity with the Yoruba people in their time of grave distress (to life and subsistence) or supporting the Fulani expansionist agenda, and it has clearly chosen to pitch its tent with the Fulani at the detriment of the pride and wellbeing of the Yoruba nation.

Henceforth, the group should be treated deservedly.

Foreign Affairs / Re: Iran Arrests Person Who Filmed Bombshell Footage Of Jet Downing by FemiMaduka(m): 12:52pm On Jan 16, 2020
It's now clear that Iran is as irresponsible, if not more, as it accuses the U.S and Israel of being.

This is the reason why one has to be careful before taking sides. It was reported that the commander of the SAM (surface to air missile) battery, which brought down the passenger jet, had reported the 'error' to the authority the morning after the downing occurred, but the regime unfortunately and callously went on to deny culpability, and even tried fooling the whole world by pointing fingers at 'western propaganda'. Their admission, days after, was borne out of sheer lack of options.

This is sickening. And to think that this same regime had killed tens of pro-subsidy protesters shortly before the spat with the U.S., it makes it even more devilish.

The regime has lost EVERY good will, internationally and domestically.

In Ajaokuta, literally or metaphorically, lies our industrial and technological breakthrough. Metallurgy is a strategic sector in every developed economy.

In the early eras, if a nation conquered another nation and wanted to make sure that the conquered nation remains subjugated under its vassalage, IT IMMEDIATELY BANISHES THE PROFESSION OF BLACKSMITHING. It hasn't changed much even in this 21st century.

Ajaokuta remains the biggest industrial complex in the whole of the subregion (W.A.); its misery is indeed our misery. If we were a people 'blessed' with strategy, we wouldn't eat our next bread till that plant (or another of its kind) starts running.

We are heating up the wrong 'furnace'—the oven.

Politics / Re: FG Declares Operation Amotekun Illegal by FemiMaduka(m): 6:57pm On Jan 14, 2020
There is a lot of political undercurrents in this Amotekun issue. The interests from the core north are starkly against any form of regional security arrangement especially in areas down south, just like they are averse to restructuring.

The South has been subsidizing the North for several decades and they know this and they want it to go on in perpetuity. The north is actually very scared of any arrangement that will put power in the hands of regions, as it would put them at a huge economic, political and geographical disadvantage. For example, the Fulani herders are more comfortable with a federally administered security system because they know it would protect their activities. Anything regional would cut the centuries-old benefits they've always had.

However, we have to resist this status quo where mediocrity is exalted to the detriment of merit. Even as a nation, the constituent groups MUST have the latitude to chart their course to progress and develop at a pace best suited for them without others acting as deadweights. This system HAS FAILED!

They will resist it; Buhari will totally resist it. The issues around it will shape 2023. Let's see how the South West navigates these waters.

The Nigerian Army grew out of the Royal West African Frontier Force (RWAFF), which itself grew from a small group of militiamen of northern Nigerian origin (not necessarily purely Hausa) raised by Lt. Glover of the Royal Navy and known as the "Glover Hausas" and then "Hausa Constabulary". Ajami, a corruption of the Arabic, was the primary means of literature for the peoples of the far northern protectorate.

It is purely history.
