Hi NLs, i was going through my album this afternoon, so i decide to share some of the pics i snapped during my NYSC back in 2010. I served in an interior village in Enugu state ( Nachi-Udi) in the only private secondary school in the village, a village where is no tarred road, no stable electricity, no stable network. but i really enjoyed the service year, it was fun. happy viewing:

PoliticsBattered Pregnant Employee: Lagos Seeks Action Against Abusive Foreign Employers by ffo(op): 12:36pm On Jan 04, 2014
The Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, on Friday advocated review of the Nigerian Labour Law to offer more protection to employees against violence at workplaces.

Ms. Orelope-Adefulire made the call when she briefed journalists on the recent case of the alleged battery of a resident, Alexandra Ossai, by her employee in Ikeja.

Ms. Ossai, 34, was allegedly hit in the stomach by her Lebanese manager after a disagreement and she lost her seven-month-old pregnancy in the process.

The incident had attracted condemnations by Nigerians with President Goodluck Jonathan ordering a probe into the case for appropriate actions.

Ms. Orelope-Adefulire said the case of violence against Nigerians, especially by their foreign employees, had become one too many, saying it was time to put an end to it.

“Violence against Nigerians by the employees, especially by foreign owners of businesses is condemnable and we should all rise against it. I mean how people can come here to maltreat, enslave and exploit Nigerians all in the name of giving them employments.

“The case of Ossai is unacceptable and I think the relevant sections of the Nigerian Labour Law should be amended to ensure better protection of workers against things like this.

“The state government would make recommendations to the appropriate authorities to review the law so that our people don’t suffer fate like this in their workplaces,’’ she said.

The deputy-governor said that Ms. Ossai was being rehabilitated at a government facility and that the Office of the Public Defender, OPD, had taken over the case.

“OPD is investigating the case and we will ensure that the victim get justice at the end of the day,’’ she said.

Ms. Orelope-Adefulire stressed that the state’s law on domestic violence was still in force, and urged residents to report cases of abuses to the government for necessary action.

SportsEnyeama Wins Ligue 1 Player Of The Month Award For The 2nd Time by ffo(op): 3:42pm On Dec 20, 2013
The Nigerian goalkeeper has won another individual award after keeping clean sheets throughout the past month

Nigeria goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama has for the second consecutive month won the Player of the Month award in Ligue 1.

The Lille custodian did not concede any goal in the French top flight in November.

Enyeama started November with a shutout against Monaco, which Lille won 2-0. He then kept three clean slates against Guingamp, Toulouse and Valenciennes on November 30.

The player who won the October award got 59 % of the vote ahead of PSG’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who got 32 % and Marseille teenage midfielder, Florian Thauvin, who got 9%.

The best player award will be presented to Enyeama on Sunday, January 12, during their match against Reims.

The Lille shot stopper conceded his first goal in 12 matches against Bordeaux on December 8 after 1062 minutes.

SportsMercy Akide-udoh (former Super Falcon Player) Inducted Into USL Hall Of Fame-pic by ffo(op): 6:29am On Dec 18, 2013
Former Nigeria international Mercy Akide-Udoh was last weekend formally inducted into the USL Hall of Fame in Florida, USA.

Akide-Udoh, who began and ended her American football career with the Hampton Roads Piranhas, was the only player, male or female, inducted into the 2013 Hall of Fame class.

She won league MVP honours in 2003 as she led the Piranhas to the National Championship, scoring the winning goal in overtime of the title game.

USL President Tim Holt was full of praise for the former Super Falcons star.

“Mercy Akide has been one of the most important and impactful players in the history of the W-League,” said Holt.

“Beyond consistently performing at an all-league level throughout her career in the league, she has served as a source of inspiration for countless young female soccer players throughout the world.

"She has accomplished all of this while remaining humble and continues to serve as one of the sport’s great ambassadors.

"Her induction into the USL Hall of Fame is a well-deserved honour for a great player and person.”

Akide-Udoh said she was overwhelmed by the honour.

"I don't know what to say. I have won many awards before but this will have a special place in my heart," she said in her acceptance speech.

"I would like to thank Marcie Laumann and the Piranhas for giving me the opportunity when I first came here.

"I hope that I can help other young girls have the same opportunity I was given by giving them a chance to also get a good education while playing soccer.

"This is dedicated to my family and all those young girls who believe in themselves that they can be what they want to be."

SportsEjide Keeps Sixth Clean Sheets In League by ffo(op): 1:05pm On Dec 02, 2013
Hapoel Be'er Sheva goalkeeper Austin Ejide kept his sixth clean sheet of the Israeli League in a 3-0 win over Maccabi Petah Tikvah over the weekend.

Goals from Maor Buzagio, Siraj Nasser and Tomer Suissa sealed a win that took Hapoel Be'er Sheva top of the standings, one ahead of Maccabi Tel Aviv, who have a game in hand.

With Nigeria first choice Vincent Enyeama chalking up his 10th consecutive clean sheet of the campaign and 13th overall in the French Ligue 1, second choice Ejide is keeping pace to keep the fight for the goalkeeper jersey interesting.

"I think it's great that our two goalkeepers are doing well," Super Eagles goalkeeper trainer Ike Shorunmu said.

"It shows that they are working really hard and we will have the best for the World Cup.

"I just pray that they stay fit, and keep working hard."
