Hi my fellow brothers and sisters, the Ghana bouy landed safely at JFK airport on 29th May from Kotoka int. Airport through Delta and connected another one to Atlanta. I was sent my welcome letter on 14th June and 2day i was sent my green card, Its very cute tho. Congrats to all who were granted visas and those about to join us here in the land of opportunities. Sorry also for the lateness in posting my experience. I think i am now settled to contribute to the issues in the house. Tanx.

Thomby2k12: Hello my Nairalanders, I'm so sorry for the information I posted this morning requesting advice on my brothers X-ray case. I called the Panel Physician myself (Q-Life Family health), to hear from the horse's mouth and he told me that the X-ray showed the presence of certain fluid on one of the lungs and so that would require further test (Sputum test) to find out my brother has TB or not. He then said that N50,000.00 is actually the cost of the further test which according to him will take between 8 and 10 weeks beacuse the specimen will have to be sent to Ghana or something like that. The doctor said if the result is positive for TB, my brother will then be referred to a hospital where he will be treated, and that the treatment will take about 6 momnths, but if my brother does not have TB, then he can proceed with his processing.
Please, my brothers and sisters on Nairaland, what should I do now! I'm confused. Please I need all the help and support I can get from you. Thank you for your anticipated responses.

Pls let him start the process as soon as possible because six months is too near to the deadline for 2013 DV year. But also pray very hard that it shouldn't be TB cos it might be some thing else. God is in control...thank God this dv process has saved your brother. At least its not only abt VISA's but also saving lives.

I was selected for further consideration in the DV2013 for a second time after I was denied visa in the DV2005 because I did not include my middle name in the original entry while I had done so in the DSP form. the case was the a friend entered it for me however i had claimed in the interview that I did it my self ignorantly.

the major problem is not that. the major problem is that in 2005 I had wanted to pursue the process with my then fiance so we entered the DSP for as married. shortly after we went out separate ways and did not go to the interview together. I had written KCC that we will not be able to make it together because of domestic issues and KCC replied and asked me to explain to the CO. on the interview day i told the CO that we has problems hence we are not together but he disqualified me on the account of a middle name which appeared in the DSP form.

My problem is now I won again this time i entered single. my fear will they cross examine me based on the former married status which i think is still in their data base. House what are my chances and what should I do?

Hmm your case is a very complicated issue, I will advice you to tell them the truth. Tell them you initially did not understand the rules of DV hence your ignorance. Tell them you thought you could fill for your fiancé cos u had plans of marrying her but it didn't work out so you both went your separate ways. And about your middle name you can tell them the truth which is an error. The rest should be put b4 God to help you.

Thomby2k12: Hello house, please I'm in need of advice. My brother is scheduled to attend his interview next week Thursday 21st March, 2013. He went for his medical test the day before yesterday and they told him the result would be ready on Saturday. This morning, they called him from the hospital and told him they found a problem in his x-ray and that he would have to undergo treatment that would cost N50,000.00. The problem now is that they told him that the result of the test would not be ready until after 10½ weeks. Pls, what are we going to do now? Please,

My advice is dis, tell him to reschedule his interview and the make sure he treats himself fully b4 going for the interview. or he can start the treatment n den go for the interview and wen he is asked he shud say the hospital found some tin wrong with his x-ray n that he has started treatment. That way the CO will then recommend when he shud come with the x-ray. Speedy recovery to him.

I want to first of all thank God for my situation because it has taught me how to be tolerant and patient. I had my interview on 4th February and was issued a green sheet to return on 8th February for my VISA, on arrival I was told my VISA was not ready, the took the sheet and handed me a white sheet putting me on Administrative Processing. On my first filling for DV 2013 I mistakenly typed 1990 instead of 1987 as date of birth so I knew they wanted to verify that I wasn't a criminal cos I wrote the correct date on the DSP form and swore an affidavit. I was soo sad and frustrated. I didn't give up, I still psyched myself, prayed and fasted. On last thursday 28th March I read abt some forumites who were also on AP and had been called. I tapped into their success and at 12:00 pm I was called by the American embassy in Ghana asking me to come to the embassy on Monday at 1pm with my letter and the passport. I went there today and we went tru the normal security checks. I was called up to one of the CO and I was asked to present my passport and that all my documents were ok. She re-issued me with a new green sheet asking me to return on friday for my VISA. I thank God for all he has done for me and I also thank all members that continue to help pple out there like me. God bless you all...to all those on AP, you will be called and you shall all be issued VISA's IJN. Sori 4 my long story tho I hope someone wud learn from my story.....

I tink u shud just concentrate on telling the truth, nobody can tell u wat they will ask cos none of us is a CO. I will suggest you prepare yourself towards questions concerning why u got divorced and weather you have documents to preove that. Also probably you will be asked about your Education and general stuff...Just prepare for every tin and most of all pray.

preprewow: ok i wont mention any damn thing about my hearing but how am I gonna communicate with them when I am hard of hearing? I know the consular officer will get dissappoint at me because of repeating himself incase I don't hear him properly

I don't know about your embassy but other embassies have a telephone at all the windows where they use to communicate in case they find it difficult to hear u or u hearing them. So wen u get there tell them you want to use it for clarity cos u can hardly hear them. Its there for use so they will allow u.

jbmohd: By the grace of God u ll be given ur visa too, but pls don't try to call or send an email to them on ur case before the given period. I saw a lady that was outrightly denied because she called them making enquiry on her AP.Those pple blf so much in compliance

Jbmohd Amen, the God that did yours will surely do mine. I sent them a mail 2 weeks after my case was put on AP and they replied saying my case was still on AP, they said they will contact me wen the finish. I did my interview in Ghana I hope I am not in trouble for sending the mail??

I decided to sit back and watch your marvelous work doing here, i bless the day i entered this forum, thanx to you all, i would be mistaken if i mention names.
I had my interview today right here in Ghana, I woke up @ 4:18 am before i would have been waken by the alarm @ 4:30 ( not that i couldnt sleep anyway, hahahahahahahaha), took my bath, waited for my snr brother to also finish, then he drove me off @ 5:37 am and got to Cantoment i.e America embassy @ 6:21 am, i met many people over there going for the same interview.
@ 7:30am, we heard a bell and we all ran towards the entrance to form a queue, i was around number 40 in the queue, i got inside, my name was mentioned to collect a forms to fill, after that, i paid the fees of $330 equivalent to Ghc 660, i was told to sit down. About 20 to 30mins time, i heard my name from a sweet lady's voice blablablabla please come to window 4. i stood up, called God to take the lead for me to follow Him and He did exactly that.

Last week Thursday at exactly 11:40.29 AM i received a call from The Embassy the lady that called me said that the Administrative Procesing for my name being so common was completed and that my name was cleared. I was told to bring my passport in and to pick up my visa. Thank you Jesus!!! the nightmare is over. My case was sent to administrative procesing Jan 15th and I got a confirmation that they can issue my visa yesterday Monday 25th it took 5 working days.
Today I realized no matter how old we get, we will always be full of joy and happiness as soon as we have the support of our friends and family,ALL THANKS TO THE MASTER PLAN.BABA GOD!.

U don't need any passport picture, they will take your pic at the police CID headquarters. So just go with your money and passport that's it.

As I got to the Ghana embassy today to pick up my VISA I was called together with 3 other people and I asked to wait cos the CO wanted to meet us. The CO called me and I gave me a form to fill asking for additional information. She then told me my VISA was not ready and that I have been put on Administrative Processing. She said they will call me after they are done with that. She didn't tell me any reason why I was put on AP all she said was they would call me. She collected the green sheet and gave me a white paper to go and wait to be called. Pls house can anyone help me with regards to what is happening?? I am soo shattered right now. The only issue I had was the wrong DOB in my initial entry which they never asked during the interview plus I have a sworn affidavit for that. House pls help me...

The USCIS Immigrant Fee is now in effect.

Any individual who on or after February 1, 2013 receives an immigrant visa package from a United States consulate or embassy abroad (including Canada and Mexico) must pay the USCIS Immigrant Fee.

Children who enter the United States under either the Orphan or Hague adoption programs, Iraqi and Afghan special immigrants, returning residents (SB-1s), and those issued K visas are the only immigrant visa cases exempt from paying the new fee.

When and How to Pay the Fee

Submit your payment after receiving your visa package from DOS and before you depart for the United States.

Pay your USCIS Immigrant Fee online. You will need to complete the electronic form and provide your:

checking account information, or
debit or credit card information.
All check payments must be drawn on a U.S. bank.

If you are unable to make this payment, another person can make this payment on your behalf.

Failure to Pay

You will not receive a green card until the required USCIS Immigrant fee is paid.

Failure to pay does not affect your lawful status. You will have your passport stamped showing your lawful admission and permanent resident status. This stamp is valid for one year but it is strongly advised that you pay the immigrant fee as soon as possible to avoid delays in receiving your Permanent Resident Card.

About the Fee

Foreign nationals who seek permanent residence in the United States and receive an immigrant visa will need to pay a USCIS Immigrant Fee beginning February 1, 2013.

The new fee of $165 was established in USCIS’s final rule adjusting fees for immigration applications and petitions announced on Sept. 24, 2010. USCIS has worked closely with the Department of State (DOS) to implement the new fee which allows USCIS to recover the cost of processing that is performed in the United States after immigrant visa holders receive their visa packages from DOS and are admitted to the United States.

Applicants will now have to pay both the DOS visa application processing fee and the USCIS Immigrant Fee.

What the Fee Covers

The immigrant fee will cover the cost of USCIS staff time to handle, file and maintain the immigrant visa package, and the cost of producing and delivering the permanent resident card.
