Crime › Re: 13-Year-old Girl Murdered In Kogi, Kept In Fridge by Fidelcruiz(m): 5:19pm On Oct 20, 2012 |
[quote author=peterowode]LOKOJA – IF only, 13-year old Yetunde, Racheal Samuel had known what fate had in store for her on 5TH October, she would have changed her mind about staying home and followed her family to the wedding of the day. But life played a fast one on her and kept her in the dark about the evil that lurked at the corner . She had no premonition whatsoever, that on that particular day, she would bid the world goodbye in a gruesome manner.
On that day, the serene town of Isanlu, headquarters of Yagba – East Local Government of Kogi State was thrown into tumoil following the gruesome murder of Yetunde, whose body was deposited inside a medium size freezer after being strangled to death by yet to be identified killers.
Yetunde Rachael Samuel, a JSS 2 student of Oluyori Comprehensive College, Isanlu was killed in the night of October 5th and neatly deposited inside a medium size freezer to create impression that she fell into the freezer and was subsequently jamlocked and frozen to death without any body knowing; which shows that her death was pre-planned and carried out with an ulterior motive.
What has remained a mystery is who actually murdered her and for what. Aside that, the question on the lips of people is why was she the only one left in the house that particular day and why she was hurriedly buried in the cover of the night? Why did the parents or the guardians fail to report her mysterious death to the police before she was committed to mother earth? Only the police or perhaps, the late Yetunde herself could actually reveal who killed her and how she died.
The perpetrators of the henious crime would have gotten away with it if the police had not gotten wind of it. Maybe Yetunde’s blood is seeking for justice as no one knows how the Police heard about it.
The state commissioner of Police, Alh Mohammed Musa Katsina who got wind of the dastardly act, suspected foul play, arrested the guardians of the girl and ordered that the corpse be exhumed for a thorough autopsy to confirm whether the girl actually jumped inside the freezer and got frozen or she was killed.
MD Abubakar, Police IG
It was a hectic time for our correspondent and detectives led by the deputy commissioner of police, Alh Zannah Mohammed who travelled to the community with a pathologist from Federal Medical Centre to exhume the decompsing corpse for autopsy.
The guardian of the girl who is at the centre of the mysterious death, Mrs Deborah Motunrayo Jaiyeoba claimed that she left the girl who was the daughter of her younger sister at home that Saturday morning for a marriage ceremony along with all her children.
According to her, when she got back from the wedding ceremony and did not see Yetunde, she thought she had gone to play. She said she was thirsty and raced to the deep freezer to get a satchet of water to quench her thirst when she suddenly discovered that Yetunde was stone dead in the freezer and she immediately raised alarm.
Mrs jaiyeoba, a sanitary inspector at the local government claimed Yetunde wanted to clean the deep freezer in her small retail shop when she fell into the deep freezer and must have frozen to death.
Saturday Vanguard also gathered that the father of the desceased was said to have felt indiferrent about the death of her daughter as he hurriedly consented that she should be buried immediately.
Saturday Vanguard’s investigation revealed that Yetunde’s mother was impregnated at the age of 17 while she was still in secondary school; and after delivery , decided to drop Yetunde at the age of two with her sister and headed to Ilorin for greener pasture where she later got married. However, the autopsy carried out revealed that the late girl was actually killed; maybe, for rituals.
Preliminary doctor’s report confirmed that the girl died as result of neorogenic shock secondary to multiple skeletal injuries most likely sustained from blunt force trauma .
The doctor’s report also said two of the girl’s teeth were removed with some vital parts while the entire head region was battered with blunt instrument.
Speaking with Saturday Vanguard, the State Commissioner of Police, Muhammed Kastina said the whole episode was a case of culpable homicide. He said the innocent girl was brutally murdered but expressed shock that the biological father of the girl did not show concern but instead, he brought a letter to his office along with somebody who claimed to be a judicial officer that the case be withdrawn.
The guardian of the girl should be seriously investigated |

Crown Prince: Literary giant and one of the finest in the literature genre, Dr. Elechi amadi has voice his displeasure on the current barbaric act perpetrated by disgruntled elements living within his community, Aluu over the murder of the four innocent Uniport students. He made the assertion while delivering his vote of thanks at the just concluded port harcourt literary festival held in port harcourt.
He dismissed the falsehood peddle by people that Aluu community is a killer community. He went on to express his indignation saying Aluu community abhor spilling of blood in any ramifications. He opined that whoever kills in the community is banished until certain spiritual cleansing is done before such person is absorbed into the community again.
He equally pointed out that the incident took place in one out of the seven Aluu kindred that makes up the community and also pointed out that the particular place the incident took place is a congregations of diverse ethnic groups and race because the umuokiri community has sold all the land there to visitors building hostels for student and other accommodations. elechi amadi pointed out that the incident actually took place in a virgin land allocated and sold to strangers for development.
He further faulted the chief of the community for taking such rash decision of condemning the students but pointed out that what has bedevil the community in recent time calls for drastic measure to curb the insecurity before the ugly incident.
He pleaded to the authorities to established a fully functional police station rather than the police post the have there to be able to stem the tide of insecurity in the area.
Aluu community is a peace loving people and brother to all ethnic groups living in our community and environs. We are not killers and we will never kill but that does not imply that all Aluu indigene are saints he said. Read his words: first, he faulted the Chief for condemning the boys. Secondly, we are not killers and we will never kill but that does not imply that all Aluu indigene are saints. Its important we read carefully through the lines of this literary icon |

[quote author=~Sissy~] https://www.essence.com/sites/default/files/images/2012/10/10/apryl-michelle-brown_400x295_91.jpgTeased by her family and friends about her flat "pancake" booty, Apryl Michelle Brown had always been insecure about her backside. Once she got enough money, she told herself, she'd buy herself a better one. "I didn't know if I wanted to look like Janet Jackson or J. Lo," the Los Angeles cosmetologist, 46, says in an exclusive interview featured in the November issue of ESSENCE magazine. "I just wanted a new, bigger booty." Tragically, her quest for curves cost her all her limbs and almost her life. In 2004, Brown says she paid a "pumper," an unlicensed person, to inject industrial-grade silicone into her buttocks. Brown can't recall how much the woman actually charged — maybe $500, maybe $1,000 — but over time, she says, the area became intensely irritated and painful, and the skin blackened. By early 2006 she says the silicone had hardened, causing severe pain and infection, ultimately requiring her to have lifesaving amputation of her limbs last year. Now adjusting to her new life with prosthetics, Brown shares her story — and her warning for others tempted to check out "pumping parties" — with writer Amy Elisa Keith in ESSENCE. "I was left here for a purpose," she says. "I have to get the word out so that nobody else makes this choice." Politics › Re: Emir: Policeman Led Kaduna Killer Gang by Fidelcruiz(m): 8:04pm On Oct 17, 2012 |
Idileke: A senior police officer was among the robbers who went on a shooting spree and killed 23 people in Dogon Dawa village of Kaduna State on Sunday, Emir of Birnin Gwari Alhaji Zubairu Jibril Mai Gwari said yesterday. The robbers launched a pre-dawn attack on the village apparently to free their four detained colleagues arrested by vigilante days earlier. They killed the village head, one of his sons, some neighbours as well as nine worshippers coming out of a mosque.
Mai Gwari spoke yesterday when he received visiting Governor Patrick Yakowa, General Officer Commanding (GOC), 1 Mechanised Division, the state Police Commissioner and the Director of State Security Service (SSS).
He said the police officer in question led the team of armed robbers to Dogon Dawa, and urged authorities to prosecute him.
Later last night, Mai Gwari also spoke to Daily Trust, vowing to ensure the police officer faced justice.
“Since I made my statement in public and before the governor and other security chiefs, I know what I am saying. The police officer who my people and the armed robbers call OC led the gang to massacre my people,” the emir said.
“He has also attempted to stop the arrest of the four suspected armed robbers when the Dogon Dawa vigilante went to arrest them. After the Dogon Dawa vigilante had arrested the four suspects, the same OC followed them in a car and attempted to rescue the four suspects.
“In the same vein, when the gang of the armed men came to Dogon Dawa, the same OC directed the gang. He showed them the places to attack. Some of my people heard the members of the gang calling his name, OC, but he cautioned them to stop calling him with his popular name, OC.
“This is why I would personally ensure that the man is investigated and prosecuted for massacre because what happened at Dogon Dawa was massacre. The issue is not an issue of transferring the officer, it is an issue of taking the officer to court and (having him) prosecuted, which I would personally ensure.”
Daily Trust learnt yesterday that the Zaria Area Command of the Police Force ordered the arrest and detention of the police officer in question.
However, the emir of Birnin Gwari said that the officer is nowhere to be found, “and nobody can sweep this case under the carpet.”
Hours after the killings on Sunday, a survivor and son of the killed village head told Daily Trust he heard the voice of a police officer among the robbers who attacked the village.
“We are suspecting that (a police officer) might have accompanied the gunmen because I heard his voice. Another reason that makes us to suspect him was that when our men went to arrest the four suspected armed robbers, (he) told them that they would see the consequences of their action,” Abdulrahman Ahmad said.
Attempts last night to get the Kaduna State Police Commissioner Olufemi
Adenaike or the command’s spokesman DSP Aminu Lawal to respond to the Birnin Gwari emir’s allegation were not successful. Their phone lines were not connecting and they did not reply to text messages sent to them.
Mr. Adenaike was present when the emir made the allegation.
Earlier in the afternoon, DSP Lawal told Daily Trust that investigation into the killings had begun and that security had been beefed up in the area.
Governor Yakowa yesterday told residents of Dogon Dawa that his government has taken the necessary steps to protect their lives and properties. He said he had to cancel his foreign trip because of the seriousness of the attack, which he added would be discussed in today’s state security council meeting.

topeorekoy: It was an emotion-laden moment Friday at the country home of the Osokogus in Boji-Boji Owa (Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State) when late Miss Cynthia Osokogu was buried.
Cynthia, 25, who was a post-graduate student at the Nasarawa State University and daughter of a retired Major-General, was allegedly killed by her facebook friends after she was drugged and raped at a hotel in Festac Town in Lagos, last July.
As early as 8:30am, a crowd comprising family members, friends, and community leaders started streaming into the compound of the Osokogus awaiting the arrival of Cynthia’s body.
Her remains arrived at about 2.25pm and were received by her father, Major General Frank Osokogu. Cynthia’s mother, Joy was not present during the burial.
Thereafter, Reverend Father Leonard Biachi conducted a brief funeral mass, after which she was laid to rest. Tears flowed freely when the gravediggers began to hurl sand into the grave.
Her father, while fielding questions from journalist shortly after the burial said the exit of Cynthia had created a vacuum in the family that will be difficult to fill, adding that the family is optimistic of getting justice "now that the cases is in court."
He expressed appreciation to local and international media for the wide coverage and prominence that followed the murder of Cynthia, adding that it had helped to reawaken his confidence in the role of the press in the society.

ifebosco: The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) FCT Council, has expressed sadness over the death of Mr. James Momoh of Abuja based Pilot Newspapers.
Momoh was knocked down by the convoy of the Minister of Petroleum, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, along Nicon Junction, Maitama, late Wednesday evening on his way from work.
Reports indicated that Momoh was taken to the NNPC hospital where he later gave up the ghost after the incident.
In a statement by the Chairman of Council, Comrade Chuks Ehirim, described the death of Momoh, a production staff with the newspaper, as avoidable and unfortunate.
According to Ehirim, the tragic death of Momoh brings to fore the recklessness of government convoys and their absolute disregard for traffic rules and other road users.
The NUJ FCT chairman lamented that the minister has not demonstrated any concern and human feeling for the deceased by reaching out to his relatives. He said she was rather more bothered about protecting her image.
Ehirim warned that the union will not fold its arms and watch government officials treat human lives with levity and called for proper investigation into the matter as well as proper compensation for the bereaved family.

She should be made to pay heavy prize for this as a lesson to others. We heard about this one because it happened to one of the media officials who can always voice out there opinions. We couldn't have known if it had happened to ordinary passas by. Nigeria needs to be restructured to accommodate every level in the society. Politics › Re: Muslims In Jos Protest Film On Prophet Mohammed by Fidelcruiz(m): 9:10pm On Sep 13, 2012 |
Itohen: A group of Muslims in the troubled tin city of Jos, Plateau State, yesterday evening held a demonstration over an America-produced film that purportedly blasphemed Prophet Muhammad.
The protesters, who defied security agents, said they would rather die than to watch their Prophet insulted, and will submit only to the laws of Allah which, to them, are supreme to any other law.
The mostly youth and children protesters, who numbered almost 100 were led by one Malam Mansur Sani Adamu in the demonstration, which took place on Bauchi Road. They carried placards condemning the United States, Israel, Denmark and Holland, accusing them of plotting against Islam and Muslims. Before they dispersed, they chanted, “Allahuakubar, Allahuakubar, they have touched our Prophet....”
Malam Adamu said, “We are doing this to express our anger against enemies of Allah and Islam led by America and her allies like Israel, Denmark and Holland because they are plotting against Islam. These days they have also produced another depicting film; this is what is troubling us.
This denigration of Prophet Muhammad is very sad and we are against it. With this it is better that it is death that consumed us for our Prophet to be denigrated. All Muslims in the world should come out and protest and those who cannot should pray.”
According to our source, security agencies urged the protesters to disperse since they had not secured permission, to which leader of the demonstration responded, “If our Prophet is blasphemed we will not wait for any law, Islam supersede any laws of the country.”
