This thread is highlighting the problems of America, but isn't offering a solution, it's not very fair to talk about the problems of others without comparing it to ur own

Exaftly, the whole point of the thread is to show how bad it is in America, okay we get, but someone should please identify a better country to live in...name one country in the world that is better than America

Yes, you are quite right. "Some" Nigerians really do that and not just in the US.
Exactly, even in Nigeria, cuz you can't say that all the traders in alaba & onitsha market are making it big, yet that example was included to give u a false sense of perception of wealth that is very sparsely distributed

You are misunderstanding us. I am not saying Nigeria is better although it is easier to make it here as an illiterate, if you doubt me go to Aspanda, Alaba, Balogun, Lagos Island, Oshodi, Aba, Kano, Onisha and other main markets in Nigeria and see how people who have never schooled beyond primary six are making it.

What we are saying is that some Nigerians in America lie to show off wealth that is non existent even when they are suffering. Are you saying that some Nigerians are not suffering in US?
No that's not what I'm saying, maybe I misunderstood your point, but I felt you were saying all Nigerian immigrants are suffering the US and Nigeria is better in comparison,
Not every one will make it abroad, but that doesn't mean people won't excel there too; like someone pointed out earlier; it's an individual thing, here's a Bloomberg link on successful African immigrants if you still have any doubts

Young man i am a reasonable person. My post never compared America to Nigeria. I directed my attack at Nigerians living in America claiming to have made it and found joy in taking shot at their country calling it a shithole but some people came and changed the whole topic altogether like America is some kind of heaven. America is no heaven and even a trillion years from now they wont be close to it.
Okay then I'm sorry, it seems I'm confusing yr posts for pidgin2, she's the unreasonable one
America isn't perfect, Nigeria is farther away, but our resilience as Nigerians will help us survive anywhere, so no matter how hard a country may be, we'll always find our way
Don't blame those ones trying to show off, just try to imagine their situation if they had remained in Nigeria; you'll see where they're coming from...God help us all

I already posted millions of links that states that Americans, and i mean first class citizens cant even come up with a mere $500 in an emergency. I also posted links that states clearly that 65% of americans are one paycheck away from living on the street. It is out there for everyone to see but you guys prefer the lies projected by hollywood. Only 15% of americans have $10,000 this very minute yet a fourth class Nigerian slaves working like transformer wants to tell us how rich he is
You say $500 is mere, can you post a link to the percentage of Nigerians living in Nigeria that can raise this same amount?

Your post is for the brainwashed. There are more people suffering in America than Nigeria. America is a country filled with homeless and hopeless people. The net worth of Americans is tied to the value of their home they wont be able to afford till death. College educated Americans at the age of 35yrs are still living with their parents while the females sell their bodies to sugar daddies in europe in order to come up with the monthly $200 student loan debt. America infratructure is in a decaying state and illiteracy is rampant with very high suicide rate. The US. death rate is higher than that of Nigeria in figures, i can go on and on and on. America indeed is one overhyped shithole
I'm sure you forgot there are over 330 million people in the US

Young man pack well. Success is not tied to education. Nothing gurantees success. Education in form of schooling even delays it. Just incase you dont know college educated Americans will need to keep working into their mid 70's in order to complete the debt circle they started in their 20's. Thats what will form the basis of my next post. You think you are debating a gala hawker? The figure is out there, go and do the research yourself. They will work almost into their 80's
You seem knowledgeable that's why I'm engaging you, I'm just curious why you don't add the number of the uneducated failures to your argument
If the educated ones work till they're 80, what do you think the average age of the uneducated will be?

Nigerians living in America are broke so deal with it.

I haven't been to America but I don't know in God's name why someone will be so mad and envious of that opportunity-laden country or other Developed European countries. For instance, I am a freelancer in Naija here and 80% of my income is from America. There is opportunity and hope in such countries. I do love Naija so much but I can't join the bandwagon of people claiming this country is a sane place to live. Do you even know the percentage of people that are suffering in this country? Do you know how many people that stop me on the road and ask for money everyday?

This issue is not even debatable at all. I am making a good money from my freelancing job, high enough to give me a good life in Naija. But do you know what, I am planning to leave this bleeped up county soon. I need to be in a stable environment and start planning for my unborn children... Moving to a place where I can make better use of my skills, make more money and live a good life.

As a freelancer, I am even scared of the police because they will mistaken you for a yahoo boy and victimise you. Its time to stop arguing blindly. I love Naija but I love my life more...

FYI: I am going on a vacation in the next couple of weeks from Money I earned while virtually living in America. I paid my travel expenses in just 2 days without even feeling it... tell me the percentage of legit working class Nigerians that can afford that??
Exactly, America isn't all people hype it to be, but it's just absurd comparing the situation to Nigeria, like the country is some sort of paradise where people make millions easily without being educated like pidgin2 has been saying
Cuz a few people made it, doesn't mean everyone can or people should stop migrating, that's really myopic

Can you please tell us what you have achieved with your $200K bonus so far and how have you contributed to Nigeria in any way or form? You are stating your success story with no logical backing. You cannot prove all you've stated as nobody here knows your real worth and none can attest to your claim especially as you are a stranger to Nigerians in Nigeria. Even in the US I'm sure you are not known so how do we verify your claim

I know a young man that buys cargo ship from UK yet he lives in Nigeria, he earns millions and there are many like him in Aspanda, trade fair, tincan, etc earning millions and travelling round the globe yet they do not have more than primary six education. That's the difference between Nigeria and US. Down here, you don't need to attend Harvard business school to make millions ask those into importing and exporting business.

Nigeria is a land of opportunities even without formal education one can make it, especially if you dedicate time to study how and what legit business men and women are doing. Can you make such money without education in the US?
You say this, but you don't talk about the millions of Nigerians who have failed without education...what's the success rate of uneducated Nigerians?? You're still addressing the problem from only one angle...not everyone will make it Nigeria, not every one will make it in America; why are you buttering things up?

When the govt enforced limits on cards why was there an outcry by many especially students abroad who relied solely on funds from their Nigerian links to survive, did anyone do the stats or maths on these category of people? Billions of dollars from Nigeria are lodged in American banks, many Nigerians pay thousands of $$$ to attend schools there, millions of Nigerians part with money for visas to US, Nigerians also pay millions of $$$ to receive treatment there, trust me Nigerians pump in more money into the US than the reverse but trust Americans to do stats where it involves their image as a God father, take note that America is more populated than us but millions of $$$ are received in America from Nigeria through the above channels
Even you know in your heart when typing this that it's wrong, there isn't any basis for comparing Nigeria to America. I don't think Nigeria is completely lost, there are a lot of people still making it there, very true...but trying to compare the two countries is really misleading, I wonder how u sleep at night doing this to people who u clearly know don't know better

The funniest and most expensive joke I have heard from Nigerians doing menial jobs in the US. and earning between $1,500- $2,000, is claiming that they are richer than bank managers in Nigeria. I guess they make their money in America while spending it in Nigeria. This stupid joke need to stop. A Nigerian doing menial job in the US. at best can be compare to someone receiving 80,000 Monthly in Nigeria in purchasing power. A Nigerian doing odd jobs for 10 yrs will still be paying rent while a 10 yrs bank manager would have long built two to three houses with a lucrative investment. Nigerians in America need to stop converting currencies because it is clearly stated that if you earn $12,000 annually in America you are living in poverty
It's funny all you've said, never once did you compare the situation to Nigeria, even if America isn't heaven, it's definitely not the same with Nigeria, real life isn't what you read online...why don't u go to America yourself and compare the difference? After all you'll always be a Nigerian, you can easily go back to ur country if u don't like what u see. But I feel it's very myopic comparing a life of 80k in Benin city to Any city in America; plus if America is really hell like ur family members have been deceiving u why haven't they returned to Nigeria? How can u confidently post facts from ur bedroom when u haven't go out to really explore the world? America isn't perfect; Nigeria isn't either...stop deceiving people, stay wherever works for u

i really think you should do more research before posting, this may really be misleading, tho there are advantages of apprenticeship, doesn't necessarily mean it's better, a college degree isn't for everyone too..it also has its advantages , you just have to find out what works for you..doesn't mean one is better than the other, I can't blame you for this tho, this is how you understand things, but there's usually more to life than meets the eye...do more research

The thing is you can apply online anywhere. In Canada here there is no paper application, everything is online. Which means that if you apply online in Canada and when u get to the question like where u stay etc. Then you have to fill in where u reside in which is Nigeria or anywhere u live not where you are visiting temporarily. So it means if you are on a visit in Canada or Uk but u live in Nigeria then u must put Nigeria at the question- where u reside and all. If you are a student in the Uk, then u can put Uk cause u are a legal resident of UK as at that time.

Do you get?
I actually get, but I think this should be directed at the person that said it was impossible to apply for a study permit within Canada...like austinpee pointed out, there are scenarios where it's very possible, that's all I was trying to say.
