Northern governors, politicians and opinion leaders also said the same thing in 2011 and 2015. In fact, the Northern governors forum told Jonathan clearly in 2011 that they would support him only if he undertakes to do only one term and handover power to the north in 2015.

Btw, southern governors wouldn’t have issued the demand if northern politicians have not started behaving funny by positioning themselves for power again in 2023. The resolution in only a reminder that the rotational agreement is still in force.

Like i have told you earlier, the attempt to reduce the legitimate quest for a southern presidency in 2023 to a Yoruba quest is a failed attempt at divide and rule. Whether Jonathan or Tinubu or Osinbajo or Peter Obi, it is going to be a straight 8 years of southern presidency and nothing else. Any other permutation is not my business. What is important to us in the south west and indeed the entire south is a return of power to the south for 8 years and that we shall ensure.

Nobody is threatening anybody here. Before 2015 election, the north made a very strong case for the presidency and we backed them up in the spirit of fairness and justice. Nobody called the quest for northern presidency back then a threat. Even in 2007 when southerners had more popular and acceptable candidates in PDP than the north, Obasanjo used the power of his office to crush all of then in support of Yar'adua and nobody called it a threat.

So you see, the quest for a southern presidency is a legitimate one even if folks like you feel threatened about it. And yes, we will do all that is necessary to ensure power returns to the south in the overall interest of peace, fairness and equity. That is our stand and nothing can compromise that stand. Even if you don't want to hear it, let me tell you once again that without the south west, there won't be APC or a Buhari presidency. In 2023, power will return to the south for at least 8 years whether folks like you like it or not.

The South west played a key role in the formation of APC and the election of Buhari as president. Without the support of South west, there won't be anything called APC. Buahri would have remained perpetually unelectable in CPC. As a result, it is only fair for the south west to make a strong case for the party's ticket after supporting Buhari to rule for 8 years. While we will not die if we don't get the presidency, we will ensure that there is power shift to the south in 2023.

Again, make no mistake about it, we are no fools in the south so we understand the Jonathan kite you guys are flying. If Jonathan wins the party ticket, we will support him just like we did in 2019 and at the end of his tenure, we will also ensure he hands over to another southerner to complete the 8 years of the south. Power will not go back to the north until after 8 years. Anything short of this, we are scattering the country for good.
