The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has constituted a 15 man special committee, charged with the responsibility to mediate between Federal Government and ASUU.

The 15 man committee list was released through a letter signed by the Association President, Comr. Danielson Bamidele.

In his letter, the president pleaded with the committee to bring a permanent solution to the incessant academic strike actions which has damaged the education sector.

The Buhari Presidential Campaign Organization Spokesman, Festus Keyamo SAN, has denied paying the Co-convener of OURMUMUDONDO, Charlyboy any penny to do any video or song in favour of APC during the 2019 presidential campaign.

The IGP Mohammed Abubakar Adamu, has condoled with the family, employer, friends and colleagues of the late Ogar Jumbo, an Assistant Superintendent of Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and assured them that everything humanly possible will be done to ensure that justice prevails.


The IGP has directed the FCT Command Commissioner of Police, CP Bala Ciroma to conduct immediate autopsy to ascertain the cause of the death of the deceased.

For the purpose of transparency in ongoing investigation and the autopsy, the IGP enjoined the family members of the deceased and his employers to be at liberty to bring the doctors of their choice.

The Oyo State Police Command have arrested the Chief Whip of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Wasiu Olafisoye Akinmoyede, in connection with the murder of a senatorial candidate, Hon. Temitope Olatoye a.k.a. Sugar.


Akinmoyede’s arrest brought the number of those held to two.

Olatoye was representing Lagelu/Akinyele federal constituency in the lower chamber of the National Assembly. Akinmoyede is representing Lagelu state constituency.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr. Olugbenga Fadeyi, a Superintendent of Police (SP), said he was not aware of the development.


The Speaker of the House of Assembly, Olagunju Ojo, confirmed the arrest. He said the House was notified through a letter.

Ojo said: “I am not aware that he has been taken to Abuja. I am only aware that he is under investigations but I am not aware whether he has been taken to Abuja or not.”

Kano state governor, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has said the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Abba Kabir Yusuf, and his supporters will receive the shocker of their lives in the scheduled rerun governorship election in the state.


Ganduje said he was unperturbed by the wishful thinking and slapdash deportment of the PDP candidate considering what happened in the inconclusive election widely characterized by alleged vote buying and voter’s intimidation by the party.

The chairman, Publicity committee of the APC for 2019 Election, Malam Muhammad Garba in a statement on Tuesday that the APC and its candidate remained upbeat and sure of victory as Kano remained an APC state.


He said while Ganduje remain committed to the conduct of free and fair election, all loopholes that gave them chance of rigging, vote buying and intimidation of voters had been blocked.

“APC as a party has also re-strategized and very confident of victory because the local government areas where the rerun will take place remain the APC stronghold and the electorate in these areas have made up their mind to vote massively for the governor they trust,” he said.

Garba, who is the state’s commissioner of Information, said APC do not believe in campaign of calumny but on issues that pertain to the development of Kano state which endeared him into the minds of the people.


“The modest achievements recorded so far by the Ganduje Administration have touched the lives of the people in all sectors of development and also remain determined to continue if returned,’’ the commissioner added.

According to him the farm was started in 1998 and half of it is dedicated to Cassava farm.

The People's Democratic Party (PDP) has cautions the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, over the deployment of soldiers for elections, saying such is already triggering an uncontrolled crime against humanity in our nation.


This usurpation of the responsibility of the Police and involvement of Nigerian Army in the Feb. 23 Presidential and NASS elections, led to the gruesome killing of over 30 innocent Nigerians in the Niger Delta as well as arbitrary arrest & detention of opposition figures.

Gen. Buratai’s outburst on Wednesday, that the Nigerian Army will be 'tough’ in its unconstitutional involvement in the conduct of elections, particularly in the Niger Delta, the South East and the North Central, appears to be a license to trigger-happy security agents to re-enact or even scale up their February 23 aggression against PDP figures in the March 9 governorship and State Assembly elections.


The PDP invites Nigerians to note that following Gen. Buratai’s statement on Wednesday, soldiers last night commenced a targeted manhandling and mass arrest of PDP leaders in Delta, Rivers, Akwa-Ibom and Bayelsa states.

In Rivers state, PDP leaders are being tracked down, arrested & taken to unknown destinations. The State Commissioner of Education, Dr. Tam Gogo Jaja, who was picked up by soldiers attached to the Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi, is still being held in an unknown facility.

Furthermore, compromised security agents have been hounding, arresting and detaining PDP figures in the North Central states of Kogi, Benue, Kwara and Plateau states ahead of the March 9 elections.


Nigerians should call on Gen. Buratai to redirect his officers and men from participating in the March 9 election so as to avert any breakdown of law and order in any part of our country before, during and after the March 9 elections.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says it will not issue certificates of return to any candidate declared winner of an election under duress.


Mahmood Yakubu, INEC chairman, made this known during a meeting with the inter-agency consultative committee on election security held in Abuja on Thursday.

There was widespread intimidation and harassment of the commission’s staff during the last presidential and national assembly elections.

In Imo, for instance, Francis Ibeawuchi, INEC returning officer for the Imo west senatorial election, said he was “forced” to announce Rochas Okorocha, Imo state governor, as winner of the poll.


Yakubu said the commission will not tolerate the intimidation of its staff during Saturday’s elections.

“However, the commission will not tolerate the act of holding our officials hostage and forcing them to declare winners under duress. Where such occurs, the commission will not reward bad behaviour by issuing them certificates of return.”

Aliyu Mohammed Sani, the person who was reported to have died after swimming in and drinking water from a drainage (gutter) in Bauchi, is hale and hearty.


Sani who spoke with our reporter on the telephone on Wednesday said that report about his death was a fabrication and fake news relayed on the Social Media.

Sani, a painter dismissed the rumour that he was taken to hospital over any form of complication.

According to report, Sani had vowed to spend some minutes inside a gutter and drink the drainage water if President Buhari wins re-election.

He fulfilled his promise after the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, declared Buhari of the All Progressives Congress, APC as winner of the Feb 23 presidential election. The picture of Sani who did the ‘4+4’ sign after emerging from the gutter went viral.


However, on Tuesday, March 5, he was reported to have died after battling with gastrointestinal bleeding in the hospital for days after his public stunt.

“As I am talking to you now, I am on my way back to Bauchi after we finished a painting work somewhere outside Bauchi,” he said.

According to him, his decision to drink water from the gutter if President Muhammadu Buhari wins re-election was a promise, he took in the presence of people which he fulfilled.

“It is true, I made the promise before the elections and I fulfilled it and I have no regrets,” he added.


While reacting to the news of him being alive, Personal Assistant to President Buhari on New Media, Mr. Bashir Ahmed said, “I have spoken to him earlier, Alhamdulillah for his life, his life will in sha Allah be moved to the #NextLevel, same with millions of Nigerians. Aliyu did that for pure love, and he will see purest love in return.”

The People's Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the just concluded presidential election, Atiku Abubakar, has opened a donation platform for Nigerians to financially support his legal battle against President Buhari and APC.


Atiku Abubakar rejected the outcome of the elections and has inaugurated his legal team early this week.

The donation platform was created by a Nigerian to help support Atiku Abubakar's legal battle at the Tribune.
