Jessica Beer, a Junior Secondary School (JSS) II Female student of DM C, Logo, Makurdi, Benue state has committed suicide.

The girl drank substance believed to be poison
(Novan) and was taken to a Popular clinic in
Akpehe, Makurdi, before Doctors confirmed her
dead on arrival .

A friend to the deceased, who don’t want her name in print, said that Jessica Beer committed suicide because her boyfriend (Names withheld) who is a pork meat seller at Wurukum Market in Makurdi impregnated her, then abandon her and impregnated another girl.

Many residents of Akpehe settlement in Makurdi
on hearing the news trooped to the clinic to catch a glimpse of the body of the female student who committed Suicide.

It was a Black Wednesday for the people of Awka Etiti, Governor Obiano and the entire Anambra State as a Truck believed to have lost control crushed a woman and her grandchild to death at IKB Junction in Awka Etiti.

Obiano who was returning from a condolence visit to the family of Onyema in Mbosi couldn’t hold back tears and ordered the ambulance in his convoy to carry their remains to the closest mortuary.

Nigerian Army ( OPERATION CROCODILE SMILE) has cleared out a notorious kidnappers den at
Obiozumini near Obite in Ogbema/Ndoni/Egbema Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The troops rescued one kidnapped victim after heavy gun fight with the kidnappers.

The troops also during cordon and search operations as part of the training exercise during the raid, they discovered and destroyed 52 illegal refineries and refinery cooking pots in Krakrama, Bille and Better land community general area.

They later discovered 6 refining cooking pots at Better Land community which unfortunately could not be destroyed instantly because of proximity to the community. They also recovered 2 high powered Engine boats, 10 empty drums and 1 pumping machine. Plans for destroying the illegal refinery with Swamp Buggy is in progress.

Suspected illegal tax collectors operating mostly along Upper Iweka Road and Bridge Head, have been apprehended by a joint team of the Nigeria Police and Officers of Ocha Brigade.

According to the State Commander of OCHA Brigade, Kenneth Okonkwo, Gov Willie Obiano is determined to rid Anambra of hoodlums who extort innocent motorists by over taxing and carrying out illegal tax collections in the state.

Following series of petitions and complaints from citizens and motorists, the state government would stop at nothing to sanitize Onitsha and its environs of criminal activities any criminal activity, stop every form of tax fraud and ensure that only the due taxes are paid.

The suspects have been handed over to the Nigeria Police Force, Onitsha Division for prosecution.
