One thing I've come to realise is that anytime Buhari refuses to interfer in election, Tinubu always lose

Buhari promise he will not interfer in Edo state governorship election and Tinubu APC lost

Buhari promise he will not interfere in Osun state governorship election and Tinubu APC lost

Buhari has promised that he will not allow rigging in 2023 Presidential election and I trust Tinubu will lose

Tinubu cannot win any election without rigging and buying of votes

You forgot to state that Buhari promised not to interfere in APC primary election and Tinubu won

That’s why he held a meeting with the both men and advised his good friend Kwankwaso to step down for Gods chosen candidate and the Incoming President of the FRN Peter Obi.

Bro, the correct spelling is gods not Gods.Thank you
Politics / Why Wike Will Not Support Atiku - Fayose by fistonme(m): 6:54am On Jun 30, 2022
Former Ekiti State governor, Ayo Fayose, has explained why he believes Nyesom Wike will never support the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar.

Mr Fayose, in an exclusive telephone interview with PREMIUM TIMES, said power must shift to the southern part of Nigeria in 2023 after the expiration of President Muhammadu Buhari’s second term.

The former governor also recounted how Mr Atiku “promised” to make Mr Wike, the Rivers State governor, his running mate after he was declared winner of the PDP presidential primary election.

According to the former Ekiti governor, Mr Atiku failed to fulfil his promise to Mr Wike when he settled for the Delta State governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, as his running mate.

“Wike never said he wanted to be VP, but when Atiku visited him, he was the one who said, ‘I want you to be my VP’. He said that to Wike. If that then changes, is Wike not supposed to be told? Is he not supposed to know?”

He recalled that Mr Atiku had ignored the recommendation of a committee set up by the opposition party to pick his running mate.

“PDP set up a committee to recommend a running mate for the candidate and the committee voted and picked Wike, but they didn’t comply with the recommendation of the committee.”

“If the party is now a one-man show, we will show them that we can resist it. We are with Wike 100 per cent.

“When they need Wike’s money and Wike’s support, they will say, ‘Wike is good enough’. Wike has been injured, but we will remain with him. Whatever he does is what we would do; wherever he asks us to go is where we will go.”

When asked what would happen should Mr Wike ask them to support Mr Atiku, the former governor said: “Wike will never say we should support Atiku.

“Wike cannot come out to say he is supporting Atiku. I dare him to say so; because he knows that whatever he says will haunt him forever. If Wike supports Atiku, we will abandon him.”

Atiku responds
Contacted for a response, Paul Ibe, Mr Atiku’s spokesperson, said his principal and the party will continue to appeal to aggrieved persons within their fold to embrace dialogue.

“Because the bigger challenge is winning the election, kicking out the APC and stopping them from the many years of impoverishing our people,” said Mr Ibe.

READ ALSO: Why Atiku rejected Wike as running mate
“It is normal for our people to be aggrieved but the PDP has a way of resolving issues like this and that will be done and we all shall be happy.”

‘Power to the south’
On whether the plan is now to technically support the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Tinubu, or his counterpart in the Labour Party, Peter Obi, Mr Fayose said: “this is not about Bola Tinubu or Obi, but this is about our belief that power must come to the south and it is a struggle we must actualise.

Mr Fayose further explained that “when the June 12 election was cancelled, the presidency was zoned to the southwest to pacify the southwest region.

“When former President Goodluck Jonathan was over staying, it was believed that he was already using the northern slot. So, he was opposed and a northern candidate was installed through the APC.

“This time, it is the turn of the south because Buhari has spent eight years. Why will PDP be insisting that it must again be the turn of the north.”

Mr Fayose also stated that he does not care if his actions are perceived as anti-party activity.

“ What I am saying is, it is the turn of the South, and if they want to expel me, to hell with them. I am not taking money from anyone to belong to this party.

“If they want to rock this boat, we will help them to rock it.”

Politics / Another Government Official Resigns In Edo State by fistonme(m): 1:22pm On Jun 10, 2020
Vice-Chairman of Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State, Maureen Ekharagbon, has resigned her position in the council.

Mrs Ekharagbon announced her resignation in a letter dated June 10, stating administrative, governance and political reasons.

The letter was copied to Governor Godwin Obaseki, Local Government Service Commission and All Progressives Congress (APC).

The letter read: “I tender my resignation based on administrative, political and governance grounds as politics and governance are inextricably connected.

“I want to use this opportunity to thank Governor Godwin Obaseki for the opportunity to serve and also the Chairman of the Council, Mr Scott Ogbemudia.

“I am grateful to the people of Ovia North East Local Government at large and the leadership of the APC under which platform I was elected.”

Her resignation makes it three persons who have resigned from their various posts in the state within the last few weeks.

Chief of Staff to the governor, Taiwo Akerele, and the Commissioner for Communications and Strategy, Paul Ohonbamu, had earlier tendered their resignations.

The state will head to the polls for governorship election on September 19.

Web2020:
Oshiomhole is an ungrateful and a destructive person. Oshiomhole ruled Edo State uninterrupted for 8years. Obaseki supported him to clinch the position of the party national chairman. What did he (oshiomhole) want? No body is blaming the governor for under performing. The only words from his supporters are, Obaseki fighting oshiomhole. And I ask, how exactly is he fighting oshiomhole? Will your uncle walk into your father's house and walk you out to bring his son to inherit your father's house and you obey because is your uncle. Note, i have not said government house is Obaseki inheritance, telling Obaseki not to fight back is like telling the man son not to resist his uncle.

you have already said it, that the government house is Obaseki's inheritance. you alluded to that when you said Oshiomole ruled for 8years uninterrupted, hence he should allow Obaseki rule for eight years. my brother, we should understand that Oshiomole did not just rule for 8years uninterrupted. He went through primaries to get the second term ticket. perhaps, you may say he went through a consensus. yes he went through indirect primary because there was no faction in the party. The party was united. Although, there were pockets of opposition against him within the party but he was able to persuade the majority of them to his side and the party became united. Do you now expect that Gov. Obaseki should be given a second term ticket without a primary? If there should be a primary what kind of primary should it be? In my Opinion, it should be a direct primary. This is because it will give opportunity to the different faction to vote. If we make it an indirect primary, it means you are saying the governor should get it without any contestation because most of the delegates would be commissioners, the 10 house of assembly members, etc who then do you think they would vote for if not Obaseki. but since he said he has done so well for us in Edo state, let him feel very free to come to the field in a direct primary and contest.

I am not from Edo neither supporting Oshomole. Just thinking about godfather.

As far as politics is concerned the in the world, there is no where there is no godfather. It exists even in the USA, UK, France etc whose democracy Nigeria seeks to imitate as opposed to military system of government. The same Obaseki is a product of a godfather if we look at it holistically. I also stand to be corrected, if Obaseki is favored and he gets a second term, he would want to influence who would succeed him as governor. So what are we not talking about. Godfatherism leaves with us. It is part of our system. A child whose uncle is a lecturer in a university was helped to get an admission into that university despite his relatively low post UTME and Jamb score at the detriment of another candidate who scored a relatively higher Post UTME and Jamb score. That child who got the admission got it because he had a godfather(his uncle). Hence is godfather is his uncle. This happens in every other sector of Nigeria. Civil service, Military etc

This is exactly the character your principal, Governor Godwin Obaseki has that is making everything difficult for him now. He forgot that being a leader means you should be able to manage people of all kinds. The good, the bad and the ugly. He should be able to tolerate opposing views by first listening, the using interpersonal and persuasive skills try to make them buy into his own views so as to enable him get a consensus to achieve his goals since we are in a democratic era which requires numbers. To him, it is either you with me or you are an opposition and being an opposition, you should be thrown out of the bus. This attitude has made him throw away the baby and the bath water. Now he is trying to force those he alienated for years to now come and support his second term bid by force. This is no matter of Tinubu or Oshiomole. It is a matter of him fighting the political class. Even if one is a technocrat(as he says he is), the moment you join politics you become a politician. A good politician should have persuasive skills. But our Governor says no, he is not a politician but a technocrat. Well he is just technocrat, no wonder he has taking such novice decisions all these while. But how can a fish be in water and say it will never swim(in the case of Obaseki's, using persuasive skills in placating people with opposing views) ?

APC has lost Edo State ... lose Obaseki ,,, lose EDO! A seating governor has POWER over any godfather, except he is a dundee.

All those masturbating over NWC and Oshomole holding primaries in 192 wards forgot that same Obaseki prevented Oshomole's mock primaries that they had to shift location to Abuja. What is he going to do differently this time Let Obaseki fight to set the standard. No more godfatherism. Do your term and go and rest and let others do theirs.

Just 500 gun trotting tuggs is enough to disrupt the primaries and NOTHING go happen.

Lastly most people do not know that Aliko Dangote is an interested party in Edo 2020. He is the godfather of Obaseki, and arguably made him governor not Oshomole. And you know what? Buhari has Aliko's ears ... if you know, you know! Not ranting SW media and Iyamus online touts.

Just be patient, you will soon know that all you are saying is rubbish. Aliko Dangote knows better not to interfere in a situation like this. He tried settling them but to no avail. He knows this is purely political hence would not poke nose so that he will not end up harming his business interests.

I quite appreciate your detailed analysis about the situation between Obaseki and Oshiomole. In order NOT to let my response get lost on dense text, I will itemize a few questions for you to kindly respond for the purpose of clarity.

1. As the State Chief Executive, “the buck stops at Obaseki’s table”. If an administration is corrupt, who will go to jail when prosecuted by the EFCC, the Governor or those party stalwarts who want to raid the treasury?

2. Just because people worked for you to become Governor, does it make it right for you as the Governor to permit embezzlement of public funds just to satisfy corrupt elements in your party?

3. When Oshiomole was running to become Governor, was it the indirect or direct primary that gave him the party ticket?

4. when Oshiomole was running for second term, was the APC primary a direct or indirect primary?

5. when Obaseki ran for his first term, was the APC primary direct or indirect?

6. Is there ever a bad time to do the right thing?

7. Based on the history of violence between the Oshiomole and Obaseki factions in the recent past, which electoral process is more prone to violence and possible loss of lives and property, direct primary involving all 175,000 registered APC members or indirect primary having about 3,000 elected party delegates?

8. Yes, you rightly mentioned that the general election will be a direct election, which is true -however, is the INTRA - party tension within the Edo state APC on the same wavelength with the INTER party tension between the APC and other political parties in the state?

9. Based on the legal ethical maxim of “Nemo Judex in Causa Sua” - you cannot be a judge in your own case. Is it not commonsensical and ethical for Oshiomole to recuse himself from the Edo State Primary?

10. Can a referee who is a known “die-hard” Manchester United supporter be allowed to officiate a Champions League Final game between Manchester United and any other team?

kindly respond to these questions and do not forget millions of people will read it and see you for who you are as a person.

Enough said!

I am sorry my response is coming this late.

I may not be able to itemize my response as you have done above. I want you to understand that a indirect primary can not hold now unlike when Oshiomole was contesting and also during the first term of Obaseki. This is because as at the the party was not divided into factions. The party was one although there were descenting voices yet no factions existed unlike what we have now.
if an indirect primary is allowed, which of the delegates will the NWC allow to vote? is it the delegates made up of commissioners, the already sworn in members of the state assembly or.... or the ones loyal to the other faction? in my opinion, it is better all card carrying members of apc in Edo state go to the field and cast their votes.
you talk as if the Obaseki's administration does not have corrupt activities going on within. Just be patient when he is out of the office you will see that all Corrupt activities perpetuated will be exposed.
you talking about Oshiomole not being able to sit as the chairman and conduct the primaries because he is an interested party. will he be able to sit as the chairman if he agrees to make it indirect primaries. my brother, more than a million people already know Obaseki has no electoral value. He is not a grass root politician (at least I am kind to even call him a politician) hence is fear for direct primaries. he said all the ward apc chairmen and local government apc chairmen are with him. why is he still afraid to go into the field instead he is using the pandemic as a cover. I am still asking will the main election be indirect election?

we are not in a insult match. let's try to use sane words. we can still express ourselves with the sane words. try to respect other people's opinions so they also can respect urs. The whole fight was caused by Godwin Obaseki. He refused different moves from different people to settle the issue between him and his Godfather. As you know, politics is a thing of interest. Oshiomole, is making all moves he can to remove him because he knows Obaseki can not be trusted of given a chance to come back for second term. earlier on you talked about if Oshiomole a national chairman has money compared to a state governor. I sincerely do not understand what you are insinuating if not corruption. let me tell you something you should also understand amongst the governors in the progressive governors forum. There are a lot of governors that are with Oshiomole. Hence, the progressive governors can not take a stand cos they are divided.

Obaseki's case is not like the candidates those incumbents tried to foist on the people. Obaseki is not a newbie, he is the Governor and he has name recognition, DO NOT EVER FORGET THAT!

Abba Kyari died, Obaseki lost so Abba Kyari was Obaseki's god abi? The ignorance on nairaland is something else. I have asked a question on a previous thread, what party did Peter Obi and Willy Obiano run on initially to become Governors ? APC? PDP? none of the above Sir - IF APC was a sure bet to make anyone win in the old Bendel Area, Ogboru Great will be the Governor of Delta State today and not Okowa. Oshiomole, Ayiri Emami, ex- Governor Uduaghan, Pat Utomi, Senate Deputy President Ovie Omo-Agege and a host of other political heavy weights did everything humanly possible to flip Delta State from PDP to APC, it ended in tears for them. LESSON - you do not need to be APC to win in EDO/DELTA area of former BENDEL. Even in OYO, Makinde didnt need to be in APC, today he is the Governor !!!!

Lastly - Obaseki's loyalist will start resigning - please show me the crystal ball where YOU SAW all of them will be resigning - are you a soothsayer? please stop these emotional speeches and say things based on facts not wishful thinking - guy abeg go sleep grin

you baffle me with your analysis. Do you know that in a staggered election, Delta state will fall to the opposition? I don't think understand this Nigerian politics. history is very different from politics. every political contest is an opportunity to set new rules. my brother, it is very wrong to say you do not need federal might to win elections in delta/benin. it all depends on who is wielding the federal might. Oshiomole as the national chairman of APC sure knows how to wield it. hence, most pdp party faithfuls are skeptical about him even if they would not agree.
Obaseki will not go to an opposition party because he knows if he does he will fail woefully. Even, in pdp he will find it very difficult to win not to talk of kowa party. please, we are here to learn let's try to reduce the rate at which we use derogatory terms. if I have used any, pardon me.

i say it here all the time that we have indomie generation political analyst who know nothing about politics- let me school you on what happened in Nigeria in the second Republic just before Buhari and Idiagbon ousted the government of President Shehu Usman Aliyu Shagari of the NPN

there were 3 States in Nigeria then who had real tsunami like gubernatorial elections

Anambra - the home state of Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe had Jim Ifeanyichukwu Nwobodo of NPP, who was running for re-election against Chief CC Onoh (Bianca Ojukwu’s father) who was the NPN candidate

In Oyo - a state controlled by Chief Obafemi Awolowo’s party had Chief Bola Ige of the UPN, who was running for re-election against Dr. Victor Omololu Olunloyo of the NPN

In Ondo, Pa Michael Adekunle Ajasin of UPN was running for re-election against Prince Akin Omoboriowo of the NPN

In all 3 scenarios, the incumbents were defeated due to alleged wide scale rigging by the NPN (the party of President Shagari) being supervised by then Chairman of the Federal Electoral Commission (FEDECO) Justice Ovie-Whiskey

HOWEVER - all 3 newly elected governors had one problem. They could not resume and function as the newly elected governors because they lacked legitimacy. The people didn’t want them - and it was obvious. Even Pa Ajasin once mocked Omoboriowo saying,

“what is the elected governor of Ondo State doing outside Akure - he should come and resume work if he is convinced he won the election” -

this was the issue with cases lingering at the supreme court and excessive violence until the military coup of December 31,1983 when then Brigadier Sani Abacha announced the coup that ended Shagari’s government

what am i trying to say here ?

Oshiomole must understand that those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it

if the people really want Obaseki than Ize Iyamu, as it is widely believed in Edo State, then trying to force Obaseki out through electoral primary manipulation will only be counter productive. it will lead to incessant violence and blood shed and the aftermath is not what Oshiomole wants to imagine.

whatever he does, Oshiomole should realize he is not a Bini man and when push comes to shove -when the chips are down - the average bini man will never abandon their own. Let him go and read the history of what happened to Professor Ambrose Alli and Dr. S.O. Ogbemudia in the 1983 Bendel State gubernatorial election. As good as Ali was, when it was time to decide, the bini man voted for Ogbemudia.

Oshiomole will be consumed at the end because the average bini man will not abandon their son when faced with unprecedented arrogance from a non bini person. EVERYONE BORN OF A WOMAN IN EDO STATE KNOWS THAT THE BINIS CONTROL EDO STATE POLITICS!

BOOK MARK THIS PAGE FOR FUTURE REFERENCE- THANK YOU!

you said a lot.
I beg to differ. I am a Bini man and I reside in Benin. I have been observing the situation for a while. I want you to understand that this is politics. you can not be playing politics and say you do not want to be a politician. Obaseki failed when he allowed certain politicians fight and make a lot of sacrifices to bring him to power and at the end he neglected them immediately he entered forgetting he will come and play the game with them sometime in future which is now. the issue of him not opening the treasury for the politicians to misappropriate money is merely a man trying to give a dog a bad name so he can kill it. Obaseki's is saying the NWC does not have power to determine what kind of primary to use yet the constitution of the party gives the nwc power to organize the election. I would like to ask, if they do the primary election indirect primary will the main election still be indirect primary? if Obaseki is popular let him go to the field and slog it out with other contestants.

shocked

Awao!!
This Oba Ewuare ll has truly desecrated the great Benin Kingdom.
He is just gallivanting from one place to other. Oba that is not supposed to leave d palace
The other day he attended Pastor Felix Omobude church instead of attending Holy Church of Arusa at Akpakpava which was his fore-fathers church and Benin traditional church.
He even went to Abuja last year.
I hope he will not travel outside Nigeria before this year end.

His father Oba Erediuwa will be weeping at where he is cos of what this Oba is doing.

I even heard that he change the ancient custom of Oba not seeing the apparent hair to the throne, he now sees his Edaiken of Uselu.

It's high time all the Enogies nd Chiefs in Benin call him to order

Oba ghato o kpe!!

sincerely you are misinterpreting the culture and tradition of Benin. I am a Bini boy from the great Benin kingdom. it was never stated that the Oba of Benin should neither leave his palace nor travel out of the kingdom, it was never said that he can not practice any other religion sorry from the Bini tradition as far as he is attending to every traditional rights he is supposed to fulfill as the Oba according to the Bini native law and custom, he never changed the tradition of the Oba not seeing the first son and heir apparent to the throne. Please as far as we are aware of, he has not desecrate the kingdom and he will never do so. please be careful about what you post online lest you send a wrong message. Thanks

Good morning friends, My sincere compliments to you all for being able to see this glorious day through the divine enablement of God. kindly permit me to use this opportunity to express my self which also tally with the point of view of some other readers. please it should be noted that i sincerely recognize and respect opposing points of view.
I have observed the lifestyle and pedigree of Mr. Adams aliyu Oshiomole from his days in the textile union up in the north, Kaduna precisely. To becoming the head of NLC, Nigeria's foremost pressure group for workers welfare. Let me not forget is battling days as a green horn politician wherein he fought vehemently for the stolen mandate given to him to pioneer the affairs of Edo state by the Edos in the court and his present elevation to the position of National chairman of the APC. In recent times following the last general election, there has been numerous calls for his resignation or outright sack as the national chairman APC by some self serving persons. I strongly believe it is wrong for him to resign or be sacked considering the fact that he still has a whole lot to do to better the politics of APC in Nigeria considering his undeniable tactics with which he handles issues. with this I have consider it necessary in my own little way to truly stand with him by creating this thread. I also urge others with like minds to key into the whatsapp group whose link I will post soon so we all can synergize our support for him. Thanks for your cooperation in advance.
