Good point. But i beg to differ slightly. It is a fact that most ladies who are willing to 'marry' (cos not all single ladies desire to get married though majority do)remain singles @ that age because they are materialistic rather than being realistic. The truth be told, this is mere jamboree. The states really do not need the so called good governance tour( even NTA) before they can showcase their good works because we need not tell a blind man it is raining. I am from edo state and have already heard about the good works been carried out by the governors of akwa ibom and lagos state even without the good governance tour coming to tell me. Indeed nobody needs to come from ouside and tell me that there is a party already going on in my house especially when i am in the house. If there is need for such move i will indeed suggest the state governors fund their individual state ministry of information to create the awareness so as to enlighten the people of the state in the diaspora about activities of government at home(though i see no reason for that cos majority of signals from our local tv stations are not on satellite with exception to NTA). In recent times i have heard many of my friends from Abia state and delta state complain of the poor performance of their governors. But i bet u when the so called good governance tour gets to these states all u will see is the false and unwholesome commendation of the governors by the minister for a work welldone and for working hard to give the people of their respective states the dividends of democracy. If the federal ministry really intend to showcase any form of good governance, let them start by showing us the federal goverment projects completed and ongoing in the various states. Then and only then i would disagree with the premise put forward by the ACN and treat as trivial and unfounded as u suppose. Yet u and i know that they would not do that, not because they do not have the financial ability to do that, but because they really do not have much Fed gov project to showcase and hence nothing is truely Good in the Good governance tour. Sometimes as individuals i would suggest we look beyond the messenger so as to rationally review and edify our minds with the message he or she carry.

For instance, the ACN has been in charge of Lagos for 13 solid years, but can the party claim to be providing qualitative education thru the state owned university? The last we heard was that school fees was increased from N25,000 to N250,000.

Again, how can the same ACN that refused to pay the marginal increase in the stipends teachers earn as salaries in Lagos give us qualitative education? Can poorly paid teachers produce qualitative education?

The APC claims it will provide stable power supply but that will be difficult to believe because so far none of the APC controlled has invested in building of power plants to serve the public and augment whatever the FG is doing. If Geometrics, a privately owned company can build power plants, which it hopes to transmit and distribute in Aba, why can't the Lagos state govt, with N30/40billion monthly revenue, build power plants in Lagos state 13yrs down the line? If Akwa-Ibom and Rivers are building power plants, why not Lagos?

I guess the most definite step in this direction will be to ask the Lagos state house of assembly speaker to step down and clear himself of the weighty allegations of corruption leveled against him by the EFCC. Even Farook Lawan and Hembe had to step aside as the chairman of their various committees when allegations of corruption was leveled against them.

In addition, how many civil servants, political appointees,etc have been sanctioned by the Lagos state for corruption in the last 13yrs? Or are all civil servants and political appointees in Lagos saints? Is there any law that barrs the state govt from FIGHTING corruption? How many ghost workers have been eradicated from the civil service in Lagos? Are there no ghost workers in Lagos?

Yet today, we have held on tenaciously to religious sentiments and ethnicity(the new gifts from our currupt politicians) which has only worked to our overall detriment while they reap bountifully from it. If only as nigerians we would appreciate the fact that we were first humans before we became either christians, muslim or pagans. Awolowo had an ideological bend that defined the way the Action Group operated and succeeded. Ahmadu Bello had an ideology that defined the way his party operated. Audu Ogbeh's ideological bend is definitely PDP and it would definitely have reflection in the way APC would operate and fail or succeed.

u are technically correct bro. But it is only natural for goals to be stated in evry manifesto of a party. Though evry candidate with a good heart could go on and do much more than is stated in the manifesto but he or she shouldnt do less than what is stated in the party's manifesto. In nigeria our legal system has interpreted it that electorates votes for party and not individuals(taking the legal outcome of the case btween gov. Amaechi and ex. Gov. Celestian omehia both of rivers state). We may want to argue that in the case of president jonathan, majority of the voters cast their vote for him and not his party. But the truth be told he was only used as a 'seemingly' good candidate as it were to sell a bad product(PDP) as it is. Hence, the popular saying during the 2011 elections "i am casting my vote for jonathan and not for the pdp" . How naive we were, forgetting that u may try to take a man out of the street but u 'hardly' can take the street out of the man.

What then is the need for a constitution which should be sacred when a gentlemanly agreement among a selected few can override it? The bone of contemption is not the legality of whether jonathan can contest again or not. it is about the fact that if truely he agreed to such terms as regards their internal party issue then it is only right for him to give the chance to other members "in the party" to contest come 2015 in line with the agreement, Then he can then go to any other party he likes where he is not bound by such agreement and exercise is constitutional right. But u and i know he wouldnt and would rather choose to void the authenticity of such agreement(if truely made) using legallity as provided by the constitution, since he believe s he has a better chance of winning under the PDP platform.

Elueme: Oshomohle should stop playing a hero and act appropriately. The national good governance tour I learnt was a product of a consensus between the federal executive council and the governor's forum and I am surprised that my Oshomohle is now dancing a different tune even when his argument against the said tour didn't sail through at the forum. Democracy is a game of both number and superior argument and he( Oshomohle) was short of these two virtues when the issue was discussed before the tour was formally endorsed.
The agreement was a partnership between the federal and state. The state provides accommodation and feeding for the visiting team which comprises Nigerian union of journalists, civil society Organisations as well as government officials.
Despite the monetary involvement, I think the concept behind this tour is commendable. This is what our media houses ought to live up to by taking their time to do a thorough investigative journalism to ascertain what government at all levels are doing in the areas of infrastructural development. The citizens fora which I have watched so far had afforded many opportunity to air tbeir views and also to make contribution by way of informing the govt or suggestion on pertinent issues. Also, this tour will make many state governors to seat up, if regularized.
My humble advise is for the governor to play along if he had nothing to hide.. His position is most uncalled for and amount to being a betrayal. He is unnecessarily putting the state in the news for the wrong reasons but most unfortunately some may not see it this way that Oshomohle, though a good and a pragmatic leader, is an opportunist.

Like u earlier pointed out it was agreed that the state would host the minister and his delegates which is inclusive of journalist. I understand the national good governance tour is a programme of collaboration between the FG and 36 state govts (and FCT). I'm surprised the comrade governor now tagged the national good governance tour a "federal govt programme"

After watching some of the live telecast of the national good governance tour in some states, I concluded that we need more of such programmes. On every occasion that I watched the live telecast of the citizens forum, UNDILUTED questions were asked by citizens resident in any part of the world. And the governors and minister of information labour to provide answers to all the questions.

No matter how the comrade governor has performed, there are always issues and problems (some of which the governor may not be aware of) that may require further clarification.

Moreover, democracy is not a one man show. There should be continuous conversation between the leaders and followers. Avenues for such conversation can never be surplus. The good governance tour is one of such avenues for conversation between the leaders and the people.

If the governor can sponsor the camping of national football teams in Edo (which he has done in the past), he should be able to provide counterpart funds to support the 3days visit of the national good governance tour team to Edo state.
