.. ...No mind Sod, he just doesn't like the guy.....
..... Today's formation favors Ozil as he has three defensive minded players behind him...he has absolute freedom to do his thing so no excuses for him ....none at all....
not even ozil alone, along with laca and auba..I mean its bunley, if we they can't chew this side, then all blame falls on guen again.

Let me watch dogs of Berlin jare
Guen must be so bad be that o, he's the reason our keeper concede erratic goals, attacking midfilders can't create and strikers can't finish off.
Interesting!

Xhaka back to midfield,El neny starting his first Premiership game of the campaign.

I think you need to look at it from another angle.
All the teams above us play high and quick pressing football, where even the forwards are very much involved in getting the ball back and keeping the opponents away from our goal.

Bayern, Barcelona and PSG play the same.
This is the way modern football is, but Wenger failed to adapt, and it seems Mourinho is also failing to do so. Fortunately Emery is going to implement it.

Our attacking players from the Wenger era not used to it, and Mkhi can’t do it well either. Some may learn after some time, but some probably can’t learn (Ôzil, Ramsey, Mkhi and others), and for those, we will have to get some replacements.
I think, Emery is trying to do as best possible until then by starting matches with more defensive midfielders and then substituting to get more attacking power in the second half, when opponents are tiring. It has worked reasonably well.

The match against Southhampton was special because we have so many injuries in the back line, that we had to play players there, who aren’t even defenders. Emery tried to protect them with a more defensive midfield. It didn’t work.

Our backline & goalkeeper had a really bad ay, and actually for their second goal, it was partly down to Iwobi, who could have put pressure on the player providing the cross, but Iwobi was just walking around.

So there you have it. It will take time. Copied#

baba calm down, kosc starting his first competitive match alongside non natural CB will surely not help his cause..
He needs a mustafi, holding or sokratis to get back to shape.
This goes to show mustafi has been crucial to our performance and Auba was useless.

I don't even know the formation on the pitch..

Xhaka is at left back and center back?

Monreal is far up the pitch like an 11.

Kosc is the only one in the cB position.

Litchtner is seen more in the RB position..

Bellerin far up the pitch...

The formation is not clear

Niles should have replaced kola in a Back 3 formation..
I fear kosc isn't ready for a 2 man defence in a match like this..
Also, Emery doesn't seem to trust any of our creative players in the 10 position.. Guendozi is a CM or DM..this could make him look poor.
Hopefully, iwobi and mhicky turns up today.

Perhaps they've forgotten some soon how the Nigerian rival to Messi from 2005 was reduced to a DMF cos the coach wanted it so. Potentials are one thing, they cannot be doubted, but disciine and adaptation is another.

I'm still one of those that had the switch not happened and Mikel was in the right hands, Messi would've had a rival up his sleeves and that would've taken his shine away based on the potentials of Mikel.

See Chukwueze of Villarreal, with what he does, he can be a ronaldinho if groomed to continue with his natural. talents, but if the coach wants him doing otherwise or wants him playing elsewhere, what can we do?

That's the point.

Guendozi has literally stopped his long passes that Aubamayang loved to see.

Infact Guendozi has started playing and joining the attack instead of sitting back. All this boils down to what the coach wants.

So far who noticed that Emery hasn't been hard on Iwobi to shoot and score? I won't be surprised if the coach is behind that. but overall, me I'm after common sense instead.

But that common sense may be what made pep to get rid of Iheanacho too. so much for results.
let's hope Matteo turns out to be the lovely midfielder we see in him.
I also desire he plays in a PSG like team, where his talent will be recognized world wide...better and more ambitious players tutoring him.

As good as Santi was, he didn't reach the heights deserving of him and this is due to the calibre of players he's surrounded with and mangers instructions on style of play.
Guendozi, I fear may end up, not going for duels, tackles etc again.he could stop Being mobile and starts the soft, strolling, cool football we play.

Hopefully, Emery will get more of Torreira's type or South Americans who are ready to run/die for the badge for 120 minutes like klops men.

Some of our senior players attitude on the pitch can make Toreira do a Sanchez on us or turn Guendozi to a passenger on the pitch.

I trust in Emery to handle the situation well.

i rated the kid, but he was getting overhyped and if care is not taken he’ll be over trusted and that will rub off on results.

That said I never downplayed the pass it’s u guys that were making it look like something out of the ordinary. It was a routine pass and a duel too not like the pass picked out Aubameyang. Auba actually did a lot to get something from that pass, imagine it was Giroud that was to run for that ball in that tight area. I hope u get the picture.
I get your point. He could turn out to be another another "flatter to decieve"player or turn a Gem.
Hopefully, he turns out to be that midfielder most fans are picturing him to be in the nearest future.

That’s how I was criticising Giroud and Cech since 2 seasons ago, Spy and some folks no let me rest we all saw how it turned out.

What I’ve discovered is that some peeps attention to detail here is abysmal. What I see now it’ll take Spy and co series of woeful game before they see it.
You were probably referring to him here also, when it was clear to all, Emery didn't trust any of his attacking midfielders to start behind Auba and laca.. The boy was played out of position ( he isn't an attacking midfielder) that made our midfield looked so somehow and lacked creativity.
Even at that he lobbed a Sanchez esque ball into box that lead to the goal.
I remembered your comment on that play.you appreciated Auba and Lucas and downplayed his contribution to the goal.
Your comments suggests you don't like the dude and you even wrote it out.
Also, I can recall you and I were the few of us who didn't like Giroud cheesy
As for cech, he saved us points in his first season, then he declined seasons after that.

Dude quit being emotional. There’s a difference between being determined and being good enough.

Guen has the potential, determination but ain’t good enough simple. I saw this from the very first day he played for us. Our midfield was just too porous, most of his passes were either sideways or backwards.

I never called him an unserious player or one who lacks determination. He simply doesn’t have the strength to start in big matches. A manager plays to his player’s strength. Simple.
I'm sure most Arsenal fans,Pundits and football experts won't agree with your first 2 paragraphs.

‘He’s 19 but he’s playing like he’s been there forever,’ the former Manchester United striker said on Sky Sports’ Goals on Sunday show.

‘Sometimes I’m watching him like I want to be against him because he is p*****g me off with the confidence he has.

After apologising for swearing on live TV, Berbatov continued his praise of Guendouzi, saying: ‘He’s [got] a confidence that I want to beat this guy.

‘He’s so confident on the ball and he’s everywhere on the pitch.

‘I’ve watched him. He’s in his box, the other box, running without a problem.

‘You can be 19 and have the mentality and experience of a 24-year-old. Age doesn’t matter. He’s unbelievable.’

Dimitar Berbatov on Matteo Guendozi.

Emery I think Goofed with the formation.. Guen, xhaka and torreira is too defensive and lack creativity..

Torreira seem tired,The goal covered his a bit above average performance up, I think he needs a week rest.

Xhaka was again himself, nothing Special.

Guen was neither a midfielder nor a winger today, the formation made him look like he's just on the pitch,Nice ball for the goal, but was just an okay player today.

Iwobi, lava, auba, mhicky all poor. No creativity,no threat,no shooting, maybe fatigue's set in.

Comparing Mustafi & Van Dijk in the @premierleague this season.

Mustafi:
Games: 15
Goals: 2
Tackles Won: 21
Interceptions: 31
Clearances: 93
Aerial Battles Won: 58

Van Dijk:
Games: 15
Goals: 0
Tackles Won: 13
Interceptions: 16
Clearances: 88
Aerial Battles Won: 68

Personally, I think mustafi deserves some credit, he's improved a lot.despite being erratic a times, he's keep his head up,kept improving and quite consistent.

Sadly, Stoke butchered Holding outta the season, hopefully kosc will come in to do the job now.

I hate to sound like I am picking on him but you raised it with the embolden and I feel like I need to address it.

He conceded a silly foul in a dangerous area around the top of the box which led to the free-kick that subsequently led to United's first equalizer.

Against Bournemouth, he was running helter-skelter when he was drawn into a Bournemouth possession and away from his position which led to the pass that opened the play for Bournemouth's equalizer.

Again, I believe he is a very good talent who is way ahead of his age. He has a great upside and I am very excited about him. I have always preached about his talent, even before we got him from PSG. I think we should be open to player criticism in this era even for young players because footballer are people of habit and rituals especially when they are young. Ramsey was 19 when Shawcross broke his leg but it has not stopped us from being critical of some aspects of his game.

The reason we got him is to slowly transition him to the midfield but he still needs a lot to happen for that to materialize.
I maybe wrong, but I'm for fouling opposition from running through our midfield and entering our 18 yard box. Xhaka stopped Ali leading to Kane's free kick, I wouldn't cast blame on xhaka or mustafi for fouling a player before running into the box,

Even if they had scored. Not all free kick scores.

I'll risk that than allow what hazard did against us 2ce. He once ran passed Carzola and Arterta, leading to kosc fouling him and conceding penalty. Also running past coq and eventually scoring.

What I understand error to mean is, lossing possession or being robbed off the ball, leading to goals, misplacing a pass leading.

Iwobi lost the ball in our oppostion's box against Bournemouth, they countered us and none of our midfielders and defenders could stop them.

According to who scored.com he has 0 error leading to goals.

He needs time to mature into a modric and pirlo, hopefully he will come and do a xavi on stoke in future cheesy I agree with the rest you say bro. wink

Come on now!! We heap a lot of criticism on Ozil, Ramsey, Mustafi, Bellerin, Kolasinac, Iwobi, Laca, Cech before he got injured and I have even heard strong comments about Auba, but for some emotional reason, we can not critic Guen? Why? because he is young? That reeks of hypocrisy. This is not the Wenger regime where players got comfortable playing nonsense and get shielded by the coach and fans alike. We love our players including the ones we criticize every day.

Guys stop construing the argument about Guen because I don't think anyone has said he is horrible and a bad player. If anything, every critical comment I have read about him end up praising his qualities but you guys are only focusing on the criticisms and not being honest even though it is glaring. Every one wants Guen to succeed and I believe he has impressed but you can not conclude that he is better than either Xhaka/ Torreira at this time. Now, can that change? absolutely!!! and that is why we got him in the first place. He has numerous opportunities to continue to grow and improve in his deficiencies so as to get into the first team.
Your own criticism isn't out of line, when I read "he isn't good enough ", I can't pretend to be okay with that.. Kolasinac was at fault for the equaliser, Everyone was mute, To me he had an average if not below, he wasn't getting back to protect holding and Sokratis, he was just making runs to make predictive passes to Auba..
If matteo had made such error, it would have been oh he's not ready and all.

Like I've said he isn't a modric or pirlo yet, for his age and level I feel fans should expect some little ish in his games. But not after the performance we watched against stoke city, we saw how they murdered Holding, Ramsey outta the pitch. Rojo kicked him a red card offence kick, felleaini grabbed his hair after running past him,the boy clearly won us 2 red cards.
Despite the kicks and bullying,he bossed the Stoke city's midfield on their ground..

I wouldn't be happy reading negative comments after running down my battery in such a hard dangerous game, he didn't make error leading to goals, nor has he made one before.

Dhaka I don't like is style of play for being too basic and making errors leading us to conceding goals, but I admitted He's improved of late since the Leicester and Liverpool game, and based on form I'll pick him ahead of anyone ATM.
Iwobi didn't create jack,Auba was just another ozil, In fact none of our attackers created good scoring chances except Kola's and Bellerin's cut backs.

Aside Torreria, what spectacular things do our senior midfielders do? Is it not side passes and backward? The more physical ones, do they win tackles, do they win duels?
Despite his baby stature,he doesn't get robbed often, he shields the ball or win fouls for us.

His age and size is the only reason I agree we ease him in.

I feel sad about comments on Guendouzi during the last match from Kokaneprodigy and Roland17.

Dude gave a man of the match performance just as Torriera. Yes he did lose the ball often, but anyone could see the determination to dominate that midfield as he avails himself for every move.

He eventually came through in the second half, taking on the likes of Fellaini and Pogba, and help push a last minute winner.
You not alone, I wonder if some fans are expecting him to do a pirlo or modric on the pitch. An unknown young lad is expected to have some blemish in his game once a while, but I make bold to say he atleast gives 70% good performance( tackles, runs, make pass completions and confident on the ball) whenever he steps out there. He hasn't committed error leading to goals, nor sluggish on the pitch.
I choose his passion over any big age or bodied player.
For he to have dominated the stoke city's midfield, he deserves some confidence boosters comment.

Yes when kosc is fully fit, I'm confident he won't disappoint though he has some error moments to, but largely he's a boss.

Matteo is not expected to be playing like a pirlo, I overlook his shortcomings because he's sure to give me a 70% performance (That's me) for his age and level.

Despite his childish and sexy lady look on the ball, he still bossed the Stoke city's midfield. He's not scared to duel with them, he still drives the ball pass them, goes back to get the ball, sticks leg and win tackles, vgetz fouled often and still doesn't chicken out even fellaini had to be pulling his hairs..baba.

In as much as we may not like ozil, I think he was the one we missed, stoke left lots of space and ozil often thrive in those kind of games, we lacked his creativity to our strikers.

Rojo should have seen red for the tackles on his kid bro Matteo and 2nd yellow on laca's goal.
I wish kosc can come back to full fitness and stop us conceding this cheap goals..

Torreira doesn't die easily despite the stock city guy's rough plays.

Matteo, my man of the match.. He's been surprisingly good, very mobile, covers ground with tackles, commanded the middle well and outshine pogba et al. Fellaini should have seen a red for pulling someone young to be his sons hair.

Though lad's still Young, but future partnership of him and torriera would be dominate midfield in years to come.

Guendozi shone in midfield against city and Chelsea, that made him win the Arsenal's August player of the Month, if I'm not mistaken.
However, I fear matic, fellaini and pogba will bully and kick him weak. For technique and ability I trust him for the task.

AMN doesn't seem to be mentally ready for this kind of game this season.I could have tipped him, since he outplayed them on that ground last season.

Elneny,Though mostly critized, and hasn't played a High profile game this year,I trust in his ability to cover ground ,put In a shift and struggle it out with the utd midfielders.

Ramsey.. He's been good of late with good stat.Emery has made him realize he isn't what Wenger made him think/feel he is. He's played the position several times and hopefully, he will have his sense in his head.

Finally, it us up to Emery to give himself the headache, he's being paid for that.
Also Emery should not play Auba on the left, everyone has seen what he does in the middle.
