Former minister for aviation Femi Fani-Kayode has put forward a theory of 20 years of Northern rule over Nigeria.

In an extraordinary breaking down of this theory via his twitter page on Sunday, the Yoruba chieftain posited that North West was going to rule for 4 years; North East, 8 years, same with north-central, which cumulatively brings the total to 20 years.

Tyson Fury has warned Anthony Joshua about losing muscle and changing his style for his rematch against Andy Ruiz Jr.

After his shock defeat at Madison Square Garden in June, Joshua has the chance to win back his titles as he faces Ruiz in Saudi Arabia on December 7.

Joshua, who recently revealed his trimmer physique, boasted he will expose and defeat Ruiz in a rematch.

But, Fury is adamant that the British-Nigerian boxer should not try to work on a new fighting style to beat Ruiz.

“I see he’s lost a bit of weight, he’s been taking notice of people saying he’s got too muscle muscle on him,” Fury told BT Sport.

“But really that can be taken out of context as well. ‘You can’t change a bull into a racehorse. It doesn’t work like that. ‘A racehorse can’t tow a wagon or a heavy load. Doesn’t work.

“So if you take that big heavy horse, strip his muscle off, and then put him in the same cart he was in trying to pull that heavy load again he’s not going to manage it.

The immediate past governor of Imo State, Senator Rochas Okorocha, has lamented the humiliating treatment meted out to him by his party, the All Progressives Congress, APC, in spite of his sacrifices and financial contributions to the party.

Okorocha, the senator representing Imo West Senatorial District, told newsmen in Abuja on Tuesday that he got evil reward from APC for his commitment to the course of the party, especially in the South East.

He noted that he had to go contrary to his kinsmen and political associates just to ensure that the party was placed on a sound footing in Imo and in the South East, but was surprised that he rewarded with suspension.

“If you recall, I was called all sorts of names like ‘Okoro Hausa’ and that I was building mosques and all that were associated with it.

“But I kept deaf ears because I felt that I was on the right course with my people.

“I was instrumental to bringing Adams Oshiomhole as national chairman of the APC and he cannot deny that fact.

“I took the troubles of APC in the South East and the APC I see now can easily tell Gov. Emeka Ihedioha to come to its fold if only he can fight Rochas.

“That is really an unfortunate situation and it has weakened my spirit and my faith to the party because I thought we are family working to advance the course of this nation.

“But the way it is going, it does not look like there will be a solution. And there seems to be silence everywhere.

”I don’t even know my stand about my suspension because for some time, I don’t know what is happening in APC.

“But for the silence all over, it just looks as if it is normal.

“So, I am just waiting and thinking of what next to do but I am still a member of APC and I love the party and will support it,” Okorocha said.

Brazilian police have brought charges against the model who accused the PSG star of sexual assault earlier in the summer

Sao Paulo police have moved to indict Najila Trindade and her partner Estivens Alves over allegations of rape levelled at Brazilian football star Neymar back in May.

Police in Brazil closed the investigation into the rape allegations in late July, with Sao Paulo police investigator Juliana Lopes Bussacos saying in a press conference: "I did not see enough elements to indict."

That was followed by prosecutors in Brazil also finding a lack of evidence and announcing their decision earlier this month to close the case against Neymar.

In Tuesday's announcement, police said they indicted the accuser (N.) for procedural fraud, slanderous denunciation and extortion, while adding that Alves bas been indicted for "disclosing material with erotic content from N. to a reporter."

“Based on the evidence gathered during the investigations, the delegate decided for the indictment of N. and Estivens Alves, her former partner, for procedural fraud (art. 347)," a statement from Sao Paulo police reads.

“She [the delegate] also decided to indict Alves for disclosing material with erotic content from N. to a reporter.

“After clarifying the criminal materiality, the authority also decided for the indictment of N. in the crimes of slanderous denunciation and extortion.”

Nigerian singer, Wizkid is set to release his first single of the year “Ghetto Love”.

Since the year started, the Wizkid took a break from the music industry and later concluded his brief hiatus by collaborating with several artistes locally and internationally but failed to drop his first single. Just a few months ago, he announced that a new single “Joro” would be released and fans desperately waited having been musically starved by the singer for so long.

However, it appears that he won’t be dropping that anytime soon due to reasons not made known as the “Fever” singer took to his Instagram page to announce that a new track” Ghetto Love” would be released on Friday. He did not reveal the exact date but it is expected that the track would drop this Friday, 13th of September, 2019.

Two Busia county women, 28-year-old Lilian Weta said to be a mother of three and 29-year-old Millicent Auma, a mother of two swapped their husbands in a bid to find happiness. 

Millicent Auma was living with her husband Christopher Bwire in Siroba village, Matayos constituency. Suddenly, she walked out of the tumultuous marriage and moved in with one Kevin Barasa, a married man with three children.

Barasa and Lilian Weta, 28, have lived together as husband and wife for more than 10 years in Namwitsula, Butula constituency and have three children, but were experiencing constant quarrels.

Weta told Standard Digital that her husband came back home one day with Auma, telling her he had a new wife.

“They came in at around 1 am with my husband and she (Auma) told me that night she was officially the wife,” said Weta.

When Weta confronted her husband, he told her to go look for Auma’s husband and marry him. Weta thought of their constant quarrels and said enough is enough. She summoned the courage and for left Matayos in search of Bwire.

“My husband told me to go look for Auma’s husband and marry him. I asked him if he would be comfortable with me finding a new husband. He said yes.”

Weta called her brother and sister to tell them what had happened and they told her if that would bring peace in her life, then she should go for it.

“They told me to do as my husband had said. In the morning I went to Bwire and told him what happened.”

When she eventually located Bwire, she shared with him what had happened in Butula.

Weta told Bwire that Auma had moved in with her husband and they told her to look for him (Bwire).

It was then that Bwire asked her to go pick up her children and come with them to Matayos.

Bwire confirmed that they were staying together as man and wife after his former wife left him without a trace.

“I called Auma several times but she was not picking my calls so I gave up,” he said.

He added that between him and Barasa, one person may regret the decision.

“It is either me or him who will regret afterwards but for now I am happy with my new catch,” Bwire added.

When contacted, Barasa stated that he is no longer interested in Weta because he is happy in his new marriage.

“If she has accepted to stay with Bwire, so be it.”

The Management of Shoprite Mall in Owerri, the Imo State capital, has shut the Mall to forestall possible attack by aggrieved Nigerians in repraisal to the killing of Nigerians in South Africa.

Armed Policemen have also cordoned off the premises to forestall possible breakdown of law and order.

Also heavily police were in the state capital were MTN, DSTV and GoTV offices, as well as other businesses with South African interests.

When out our Correspondent visited the Shoprite Mall, stern looking Policemen barricaded the entry gate and turned back all vehicles.

When contacted, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Orlando Ikeokwu, a Superintendent of Police, said that the Police took the deployed officers to businesses with South African interests to prevent breakdown of law and order in the state.

He said that the condoning off was the offshoot of the protest by Nigerians following the xenophobic attacks in South Africa.

Julius Malema, leader of Economic Freedom Fighters, EFF, has assured that South Africa is for everybody.

Malema said this while condemning the renewed spate of xenophobic attack on foreigners in South Africa.

The President of the Nigeria Union South Africa (NUSA), Adetola Olubajo who confirmed the development to NAN said the attacks began on Sunday morning in Jeppestown area of Johannesburg when a building was set ablaze by an angry mob.

“The mob also looted several shops that were around the vicinity suspected to be owned by foreign nationals. But the Police later dispersed the mob and made some arrest.

“Late in the evening of Sunday, Sept. 1, a group of violent locals suspected to be Zulu hostel dwellers besieged Jules Street in Malvern, Johannesburg looted and burned shops/businesses,’’ he said in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.

Reacting to the development, Malema called for an end to the attacks on foreigners because South Africa was for all.

In a statement he signed, Melema also dismissed claims that foreign nationals were taking job opportunities meant for South Africans.

He said: “Whether you are from South Africa, whether you are from Zimbabwe, whether you are from Nigeria – this is your home.

“There are no jobs in South Africa because whites are refusing to invest money in South Africa, they’ve got too many savings in the bank.

“When it is a white person in South Africa undocumented it’s called an investor, including Indians and Chinese. Self hate must come to an end!

“Africa we are one, Nigerians are our brothers. Let’s be tolerant.”

Campaign poster of Adams Oshiomhole, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, vying for 2023 presidential election has emerged.

The poster has Oshiomhole, former Edo State Governor vying for the presidency with Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai as his running mate.

The campaign poster was cited in Ikeja, Lagos State, yesterday with the message: “Mandate 2023.”

Oshiomhole currently heads the ruling party which produced Muhammadu Buhari as the President of Nigeria.

Buhari is currently battling to retain his position as President, following the election petition by Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Atiku is challenging the authenticity of Buhari’s victory at the 2019 presidential election.

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) on Monday requested a Federal High Court, Abuja, to order the interim forfeiture of N840 million traced to a retired President of the Benue State Customary Court of Appeal, Mrs. Margaret Igbeta.

The Commission, in an ex-parte motion filed at the court, said that the order would stop Mrs. Igbeta from accessing the money alleged to have been obtained through fraudulent activities in the course of her official duties.

ICPC noted that the request for the interim forfeiture is pursuant to Section 48 (1), (2) and (3) (a) and (b) of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act, 2000 and Section 6 (6)(a) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as amended.

The retired President of the Customary Court of Appeal was accused of operating a proxy fixed deposit account in the name of her maid, one Theodora Atsu, with Ecobank Plc, where she accumulated N870, 321, 492.15 between 2008 and 2019.

She was said to have opened the account with her passport and the name of Atsu on the 5th of March, 2008, with an initial deposit of N8 million. She subsequently made several other huge deposits including N123, 745, 925.57 and N5 million, in the months of March and May, 2008.

It was also noted by the Commission that the money was far above her legitimate earnings both as a judge and President of the Customary Court of Appeal within the period that the account was operated and would have used to meet the infrastructural needs of the citizens and development of the nation.

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has accused President Muhammadu Buhari of failure to take decisive steps to end “bloodletting and guarantee a stable, peaceful and secure nation.”

PDP made the remark while lamenting that Buhari had no solution to Nigeria’s insecurity challenges.
In a statement by its spokesperson, Kola Ologbondiyan, on Sunday, the opposition party said it was “completely inexcusable that as an individual, occupying the seat of the Commander-In-Chief, President Buhari has failed to organize his parade and articulate a decisive and operable strategy to effectively end violence in our nation.”

PDP observed that the Buhari Presidency “only stops at issuing condemnations, publishing commiserations and embarking on condolence visits with empty assurances, but takes no definite steps to address the situation and bring culprits to book.”
The party said: “At most, Presidency officials sit in the safety and comfort of Aso Rock to task state governors and traditional rulers, without concrete security measures to rout perpetrators.

“This complete failure of leadership and abdication of the statutory duties of the President indicates that the Buhari Presidency has no solutions towards ensuring the security of lives and property in our nation.

“Such failure by the Buhari Presidency is emboldening perpetuation of violent acts against defenceless citizens by insurgents, bandits, marauders, and kidnappers freely pillaging our compatriots in various parts of our country.
“Each passing day, our nation is jolted by shocking news of avoidable violence, mindless killings, preventable bloodlettings, loss of breadwinners and murder of promising citizens. Indeed, this is not the way to go.

“Our party notes as saddening that under President Buhari, who promised to lead from the front, only to withdraw to the safety of Aso Rock, Nigerians can no longer move freely around their country as insecurity pervades on all fronts.
“Instead of seeking help and yielding to competent and patriotic counsel from well-meaning Nigerians, the Buhari Presidency has remained heavy on propaganda and false performance indices.

“PDP, as a party, immensely commends the sacrifices of our gallant troops who are risking their lives in the front to secure other citizens. Nigerians indeed appreciate their sacrifices at this trying time in our national history.”
The party called on Nigerians to be more alert and prayerful, continue to be their brother’s keepers and remain steadfast in the collective quest to retrieve the stolen Presidential mandate at the court as the only option to pull our nation out of the woods in which it was plunged by the Buhari administration.

Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong, has removed Mr Richard Tokma, as the Acting Secretary to the State Government

The Director of Press and Public Affairs, Mr Makut Macham, in a statement in Jos on Thursday, said that Prof. Danladi Atu has been appointed by the Governor to replace Tokma who has been serving in an acting capacity since September 2018.

The statement also said that the Governor equally approved the appointment of Mr Noel Donjur as his new Chief of Staff.

The statement said, “Plateau State Governor Rt.Hon. Simon Bako Lalong has announced the appointment of Prof. Danladi Abok Atu as the Secretary to the Government of Plateau State. Prof. Atu until now is the Director, Institute for Peace and Social Rehabilitation, University of Abuja.

“Similarly, the Governor has appointed Noel K. Donjur as his Chief of Staff. Until his appointment, Mr. Donjur was a former Commissioner for Works and Current Member of the Plateau State Economic Council”

The statement said that the two appointments were with immediate effect.

The authorities of Covenant University have increased the tuition payable by new students admitted for the 2019/2020 academic session.

The faith-based tertiary institution affiliated with the Living Faith Church Worldwide announced this on its website.

The document announcing the new tuition is entitled, “School fees structure for 100 Level 2019/2020 academic session.”


According to the breakdown of the tuition payable, the overall fees cover tuition and exam registration, accommodation, utility and ICT development fund.

Other areas of coverage include laboratory, workshop and studio, ICT training, virtual library fee and wireless internet.

Other fees that come under the tuition payable are academic support service, matriculation, I.D. card, results verification, TMC & Vision 10-2022 kit.

There are also charges for EDS, college dues, field trips, caution fees, book and medical deposit; as well as payments for the medical test; and lab coat/tool as applicable.

students pay uniform tuition/exam/registration fee of N472,000 per session.

They also pay uniform accommodation fee of N185,000 per session; as well as utility fee of N75,000 within the same period.

Other uniform fees are: ICT Development fund (N25,000); labs/workshop/studio fee (N40,000); and ICT training (N30,000).

A virtual library and wireless internet each attract N15,000; while matriculation and ID card cost N15,000 each.

Results verification is N5,000, while TMC & Vision 10-2022 kit attracts N15,000.

EDS fee is N6,000 across the board, while college due to costs N2,000.

A field trip is N7,500; caution fee, book and medical deposit are N25,000, N15,000 and N10,000 respectively.

Medical test costs N15,000; lab coat/tool is N25,000 for engineering students; while students of Biochemistry, Microbiology and Industrial Physics/Maths will pay N7,000 apiece.

Overall, newly admitted Engineering students are expected to pay the highest tuition at N1,002,500 per session.

Those studying Industrial Physics/Mathematics, Microbiology, and Biochemistry are to pay N984,500 each.

Students in Accounting, International Relations, Policy & Strategic Studies, Political Science and English Language are to pay N977,500.

Others in the N977,500 tuition bracket are those studying Psychology/Counselling, Architecture, Computer Science, Industrial Chemistry, Building Technology, Estate Management, Biology and Management Information Science.

Students admitted for Banking & Finance, Business Administration, Demography & Social Statistics, Economics, Industrial Relations & Human Resources and Sociology are required to pay N937,500 per session.

Meanwhile, the institution has released the list of the first batch of students offered provisional admission for the 2019/2020 academic session, while it says the second batch will be notified early September.

The Lagos State House Assembly has set up a committee to investigate the purchase of 820 buses by the government of former Governor Akinwunmi Ambode.

The House said it was important to investigate the purchase of the 820 buses out of the 5,000 buses proposed by Ambode for mass transit because the lawmakers objected to the idea originally.

In a motion titled, ‘Lagos State House of Assembly Motion Number 2, member representing Eti Osa 2, Gbolahan Yishawu, stated that the executive proposed to spend N17bn to purchase the buses in the 2017 budget, which was not approved by the Assembly.

“In the 2018 and 2019 budgets, the state government proposed N24bn and N7bn respectively, but these were not approved.

“The state government still went ahead to import 820 buses at N7bn, and out of them, 520 are still awaiting clearance at the ports,” he said.

He added that the House was worried that 520 buses were still awaiting clearance from the bonded warehouse and that they were purchased with taxpayers’ money without approval.
