AntiTerrorist:
I wish to know the reason why governors (past and present) from south eastern part of the country are not performing like their counterparts in other parts of the country? As corrupt as Ganduje and Aregbesola are, their legacies can in Kano and Osun States respectfully can not be easily erased. If Igbo governors are working like Makinde of Oyo State or Nyesom Wike of Rivers States, I believe igbo's migration to other regions will be minimal. When a place is not conducive and comfortable for economic growth, people will definitely leave for where there is greater chance to succeed.

It is only in SE you will see a governor inviting Mr president to commission gutter, statue and other ridiculous projects. This is why they lack acceptance and support from there own people. SE politicians are the most wanted and the least respected by their own people. I learnt Hope Uzondinma out of fear has completely relocated to Abuja.

In southeast, they have 'professionals' as governors but I'm yet to see the impact of their professionalism apart from noise from some hired online praise singers. Inability of Igbos to flourish in their land has made them vulnerable to ridicule and disrespect from tribalists in other parts of the country. Things must not continue like this.

The current southeast governors must come together and provide an enabling environment for their citizens to prosper. Enough is enough.

It's about the message, not the messenger

Reno's grudge against Obi and to a larger extent the Igbos is that Obi cut short the chances of Atiku winning the presidency.

If Atiku had won Reno would have been able to return to Nigeria and stop being a fugitive. Obi spoiled his plans, hence his outburst. We just have to sympathize with him.

PoliticsMajor Reason Why The Sit-at-home Currently In SE Is Not Impacting The National E by Flathead8(op): 9:28am On Jul 13, 2023
The attached image is the major reason why the sit-at-home currently going on in the Southeast geopolitical zone is not impacting the national economy and is only destroying their regional economy. Because of the top ten states with registered tax paying businesses in Nigeria, not a single one is in the Southeast. And of the top ten states that generate the highest internally generated revenue in the nation, none are from the Southeast.

The current sit-at-home is a war the Southeast is having against itself, and the most significant economic effect it has on the rest of Nigeria is positive, in that foreign and local investors are divesting from the Southeast and relocating to other stable geopolitical zones.

Please, this is not Igbo hatred. It is just the bitter truth based on facts that don't lie!

ANALYSIS: How N/West, S/West Dominating 21 Heads of Military-Security Agencies as S/East, N/Central, S/South Get Only 5 Posts

Of the 21 military, paramilitary and other allied security agencies in the country, only five have persons from the North Central, Southeast and South-South as their Heads, a research analysis by PRNigeria has shown.

They are the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the Federal Fire Service (FFS), the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA), the Police Service Commission (PSC), and the Nigerian Navy.

In fact, Rear Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, the newly appointed Chief of Naval Staff, CNS, is the only officer from the South East holding any leadership position among the military and security agencies operating in the country.

But the North Central region has Ahmed Abubakar Audi, the Controller General of the NSCDC; and Engr. Jaji Olola Abdulganiyu, the Controller General of the Fire Service.

The North West and the South West, according to the PRNigeria analysis, got the lion’s share of the Heads of the 21 agencies.

No fewer than 12 persons from the two geo-political zones are steering the affairs of various military and security outfits, together with oversight and emergency response agencies.

Those representing the Northwest are seven.

They include the Chief of Defence Staff, CDS, Maj. Gen. Christopher Musa; the Chief of Air Staff, CAS, Air Vice Marshall Hassan Abubakar; Controller General of the Nigerian Correctional Service, NCoS, Haliru Nababa; the Director General of the Department of State Security Service, DSS, Yusuf Magaji Bichi; the Director General of the National Intelligence Agency, NIA, Ahmed Rufai Abubakar; the Board Secretary of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board, CDCFIB, Ja’afaru Ahmed; and the Director General of the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, Ahmed Mustapha Habib.

On the other hand, the Chief of Army Staff, COAS, Maj. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja; Acting Inspector General of Police, IGP, Kayode Egbetokun; Acting Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Adepoju Carol Wura-Ola; Acting Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi and the Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, Prof. Bolaji Olufunmileyi Owasanoye, all hail from the South West

The North East, with four of its ‘sons’ piloting the affairs of four security-allied agencies, trails the South West, which has five.

They include Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, the National Security Adviser, NSA, from Adamawa State; Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa, Chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, also from Adamawa State; Mr. Abdulkarim Chukkol, Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, from Borno State; and Dauda Ali Biu, the Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC.

Maj. Gen. Emmanuel Undiandeye, the newly-appointed Chief of Defence Intelligence, CDI, and Mr. Solomon Arase, Chairman of the Police Service Commission, PSC, are the only South-South Indigenes leading two out of the 21 security-allied agencies identified by PRNigeria.

Meanwhile, PRNigeria reports that 10 out of 21 Security Heads are yet to be confirmed as the substantive helmsmen of the agencies under review in their special report. They are presently working on acting capacities. But the other 11 have long been confirmed by former President Muhammadu Buhari, who appointed them.

Asked if the ‘lopsided’ spread of security agencies’ Heads to the country’s geo-political zones matters in the fight against insecurity, Dr. Araka Okolieaboh, a Strategic Trend Analyst and Energy Security Consultant begged to disagree.

Notwithstanding the composition of the recent appointments of security chiefs based on religion, tribe, and region, Okolieaboh, who is also a Research Fellow in Defence and Strategic Studies at the Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna, maintained that the strategic importance of merit should be first considered.

Dr. Okolieaboh however, said: “I am not surprised that the North-West region got the highest number which I attribute to her long-time involvement in mainstream politics and her strategic implantation plans to maintain the top have always given her leverage over other regions, also considering her size and population as well as her interest in those areas of service delivery is a good explanation why they should get that number.

“Politics from my observation is all about who gets what, when, and how, for the South-East that got the lowest, one can also view that from the lens of political participation, our survey indicates that young men from the South East region will rather go in for entrepreneurship and other private sector engagement rather than serve for twenty-five years before getting to the peak of their careers if you check the number of applications into the Nigerian Police Forces from the region between 2019 and 2022.

“It is also important to note that any regime will want to work with those whose inclinations and interests are geared towards nation-building and national security stability. While the numbers of appointments that went to the South-West and the North East are expected from our trend analysis and historical dialectics however, the North-Central and the South-South have often been considered based on availability and political participation”.
PoliticsRe: How Southern People Sell Themselves Short Before The North by Flathead8: 11:16am On Jul 11, 2023
A northerner is still heading EFCC and DSS
RenaissanceGuy:
Caveat: This is NOT to incite, just to point out what I see as self-subjugation.

When southerners are presidents, their NSA (a very plum position that's almost equal to the position of a VP), is always a northerner:
Earnest Shonekan (S) — Ismaila Gwarzo (N)
Obasanjo (S) — Aliyu Mohammed Gusau (N)
Jonathan (S) — Andrew Azazi (S - 2 years), Sambo Dasuki (N - 3 years)
Tinubu (S) — Ribadu (N)
But during the tenure of a northern Head of State or President, he'll always choose a fellow northerner:
IBB (N) — Aliyu Mohammed Gusau (N)
Abacha (N) — Ismaila Gwarzo (N)
Abdulsalam (N) — Abdullahi Mohammed (N)
Yar'Adua (N) — Aliyu Mohammed Gusau (N)
Buhari (N) — Babagana Monguno (N)

We all know that all over the world, the position of defense and security appointments are a hotcake. When the southerners keep on showing the north that they are the only ones qualified to handle security/defence matter, do they have the right to turn around and accuse the north of playing kingmaker?

Forget! The north will never side with SE, stop even contemplating it!

The north are not as emotional and foolish like how you are or want to make it look like.
SSFeedsNigeria:
People that are comparing Tinubu's nepotism with that of Buhari are doing him the worst deservice. Firstly, two wrongs don't make a right!

Secondly, Buhari was even more tactical in his nepotism than what is currently unfolding under Tinubu. Buhari's nepotism was a Northern affair. In the sense that Buhari didn't use only Fulanis or NW people but instead carried NE and to an extent, NC along. However, on the part of Tinubu, he is carrying only Yorubas along. He isn't intelligent or smart enough to carry the entire South along, or at least SS, the way Buhari did.

Tinubu forgot that Nigeria is built on a tripod i.e. North, East and West or Hausa/Fulani, Igbo and Yoruba. Buhari used Fulani and Yoruba alliance to dominate. Without the yorubas siding with him, he would have failed woefully.

Maybe, Tinubu believes that Fulani/Hausa and Igbo relationship is too fractured for any form of alliance to be successfully built by them that could subdue him. However, if history is anything to go by, he may be proved wrong eventually.
