Buhari has held unto the anti-corruption mantra for a very long time that we have forgotten to test the reality and feasibility of his supposed plan to rid Nigeria of corruption. I would not dwell on the fact that he has not layered out any plan on the fight nor his romance with the very same corrupt entities with his party. All we know is that is he plans to send corrupt Nigerians to kirikiri despite telling us that his fight will not include probing into the past. Unfortunately one of our biggest problem as a country is illiteracy. If not that majority of Nigerians are illiterates, we would have been asking the right questions and how Buhari intends to jail corrupt Nigerians. Which jail can accommodate all corrupt Nigerians knowing that an average Nigerian is corrupt? Which non-corrupt judge will prosecute the corrupt Nigerians? Is it this same extremely corrupt judiciary that will fight corruption? Would Buhari double as the president and Judge at the same time? How do you stop the rich but corrupt elites from paying their way through the courts? Where do you find the non-corrupt law enforcement agents that will implement the law to the letter? How does he plan to prosecute his party men when the looted funds can be traced to his campaign? To what end has such previous fights against corruption been effective? Has the proposed mode of fight against corruption ever been effective? Even under military where the presidency has ultimate powers, To what end did the fight against corruption go? Did it end corruption? The bare truth is that this proposed mode of fight against corruption can never work under our democracy .... Never!!!. It can only make corruption more sophisticated. The only solution is the systematic way GEJ have dealt with corruption. The E-wallet system eliminated the fertilizer scam, the biometric registration eliminated the ghost worker scam and saved over 50bn per annum, the pension reform have put to end the age long pension scam. More needs to be done By the time subsidy on refined product is removed and crude sold to local refineries at reduced prices.... The subsidy corruption will be eliminated. Nigerians need to push the state governors to sign the freedom of information bill, with that allocations to state will be on a live e-site and expenditures on such funds can be updated live. Nigerians will have the opportunity to make comparisons across the spend patterns across different states. Nigerians need to wake up and stop playing illiterates. We need to start thinking beyond our noses. There is no short term fix to the many issues bedeviling Nigeria but systematic and strategic policies are the way out. This is the only way out of corruption. Anybody who tells you he will fight corruption..... Ask him how and test the feasibility. |
Buhari cannot rid Nigeria of corruption. |
aresa:Hahahahahaha .... typical supporter of APC rant when they are boxed into a corner |

aresa:No need for noise... he should provide any certificate. Nigerian govt sent him for trainings only and that is no equivalent. The issue is simple. ... the condition for entry into the army is school cert. He must have it..... otherwise how did he get in? |

Don't ever get it twisted, PDP has done more research on the certificate issue more than you can think. They must have checked the certificates issued from the school Buhari quoted, they have also checked with INEC to see what was submitted in the past. PDP has access to army records too and they know what exactly what Buhari has there. There will never be any surprise. The only surprise will be a fake certificate which willl be immediately exposed. Besides, screening of candidates is planned for Jan 16 to 18. That is Buhari's deadline. |
Raymondenyi:I promised to take you on intellectually and that promise I must keep. The summary of your submission are depleting foreign reserve, growing debt profile, non-diversification of the economy, corruption/ non-prosecution of corrupt politicians and non-sustainability of public infrastructure. On depleting foreign reserve and growing debt profile, you made reference to Obasanjo's regime. Let me start by saying that both government dispensations are worlds apart and the comparison is such as comparing apple with oranges. Obj met and managed a nascent democracy without opposition and security challenges. Details below: Firstly, do you have an idea how much we spend on security per annum under the GEJ administration? Let me give you a hint http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/boko-haram-nigeria-s-defence-budget-gulps-32-88bn-says-apc/188650/. We have spent over $32.88billion on security alone and where do you think these funds come from? Are you of the view that Bokoharam should not be fought or dealt with? Hope you are aware that our military hardware has not been upgraded since after the civil war? The Buharis, IBB, OBJ etc came along and squandered the funds meant to equip the military over time. Now GEJ is trying to equip a 30 year deficient military in just 3 years.... where do you think that money is coming from since its not fully taken care of by the budget.... your guess is good as mine, Foreign reserve. Secondly, let me remind you that GEJ signed the sovereign investment authority into law in May 2011 to manage the sovereign wealth funds which was also a reserve, unfortunately the state governors headed by Fashola and Amaechi insisted that the funds be put back into the federation account and disbursed to the states... here is the link http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2014-01-20/nigeria-plans-to-boost-capital-of-sovereign-wealth-fund.html. That money was finally squandered by the state governors and you are here blaming GEJ and exonerating the governors Thirdly and in conclusion, part of the reserves and borrowing have been used in shoring/ buffering the Naira in the foreign exchange market, otherwise it would have been 1 dollar – 200naira just because previous governments refused to diversify the economy. http://www.oecdobserver.org/news/fullstory.php/aid/4202/Central_Bank_of_Nigeria:_Reforms_drive_robust_macroeconomic_environment_and_engender_financial_stability.html As such security and economy are key sectors that must be taken care of and foreign reserves/ borrowing are one of the very few option to achieve that. Non-diversification of the Economy I was a bit surprised you even mentioned this. All governments preceding GEJ are guilty of this subject except GEJ. GEJ is the only president who has shown real commitment to the diversification of the economy. If previous presidents did half of what GEJ has done so far, we would have been long gone by now. Agriculture is the future of Nigeria and not oil.... this govt understands that and has worked it. The automobile industry is the future of manufacturing in Nigeria. ... this is being worked as the drive is to have the spare parts get manufactured in-country after the era of assembly plants are concluded. The power sector is not business as usual. It is on the path of self improvement in the hands of the private sector. Constant power will take funds, equipment and time but more than ever... its within sight. New foreign competitiors whose bids are already with the ministry of power will be introduced by 2016. The gas gathering project in Delta is a huge boost for the power sector and other sectors. Oil and gas downstream deregulation is the next big thing with massive potential for revenue, employment etc. Dangote's refinery is coming up speedily. ... other investors will come in at the removal of subsidy. Foreign direct investment is at its all-time high despite our local challenges. I can categorically tell you that all Nigeria needs to do is just sustain these policies and we will be a world economy by 2020. We need to quit emotions and focus on the goal/ target. Corruption/ non-prosecution of corrupt politicians I expected you to mention this subject and you did not fail me. Corruption is almost as old as Nigeria. Its not new neither am I playing it down. The only reason we shout like its worse now is because GEJ signed the freedom of information bill… otherwise we would have been looming in the dark as usual. Lets get factual, how many efforts have been made in the past to rid Nigeria of corruption and what was the effect?. Under democracy, only the judges can pronounce a person corrupt but unfortunately the judges are even more corrupt that the suspect. Politicians pay their way through the courts, lawyers and judges. Obasanjo fooled us by using EFCC to pursue his enemies and we felt he was fighting corruption… but I ask to what end?, where were the prosecuted?, Did it stop corruption? Was it not same judges declaring the same people non-guilty after Obj left office? Is Obj not corrupt himself? How can the corrupt prosecute the corrupt?... It is almost impossible to fight corruption under our current democracy as everyone within the food chain is almost as corrupt as the other. Let me surprise you, GEJ is the only man that has fought corruption in a way the fight can be sustained and permanent. Only the right institutions and systems can discourage corruption and get it stamped out in our society. E.g., GEJ introduced the e-wallet system and put to end the corruption in fertilizer distribution to farmers. GEJ introduced the biometric registration in the civil service and tat fixed the issue of ghost workers. If we Nigerians agreed to take out subsidy on refined product and rather subsidize the price of crude to local refineries, we would have permanently dealt with the subsidy corruption and we would have since de-regulated the downstream sector. The next set of actions is for Nigerians to force all state governors to sign the freedom of information bill. With that all allocations from the FG to the states will be on an e-system which can be viewed by anyone. And the expenditure of all funds can be kept live for realtime e-access. Trust me, that is the way to go in fighting corruption. If we are to jail corrupt Nigerians, there won’t be enough jails. Put the right systems in place and watch corruption become non-existent. The next time anyone promises of fighting and prosecuting corrupt people by corrupt judges and corrupt law enforcement agents… ask him how? Its not rocket science… its impossible. As per the presidential pardons …. Ask yourself the same simple question, where these people jailed by incorruptible persons? Under what context were they accused or jailed? As a matter of fact, they were less corrupt by the same people who jailed them. Selective fight against corruption breeds more sophisticated corruption. Lets support GEJ to put the right systems in place and watch corruption disappear On the issue of non-sustainability of public infrastructure, mediocrity and non-productivty entrenched in our system by free oil money and quota system is purely responsible. That is the reason for privatization and concessions like we’ve seen under the GEJ government. Its no more business as usual, it must be profitable….. that shall be the case of the railways, power sector etc. We need to start reasoning beyond our noses and stop pursuing short term cheap gains… we need to keep our eyes on the future and put the right systems in place. So that irrespective of who becomes president, at least the basic stuffs must be taken care of. Am available for clarifications. cc: rozayx5, major466, SeverusSnape |
What links this caricature to the presidential spokesperson? Stupid APC illiterates |
solid3:What GEJ has achieved in 4yrs, Buhari cannot attempt in 12years. Discuss facts.... marshal out your point |
Lol |
Raymondenyi:I am ready to take you on the mis-givings particular to this current government. I would like to discuss the current state of the economy and how we got here. Let me take my stand first.... GEJ is the best of the two options we' ve got now Now marshal out your crisp points why Jonathan should not be re-elected... am waiting! !!! |
dre11:Called you an illiterate cos you came across as one. And Yes... Stealing is not corruption, check your dictionary IBB can say anything, Shekau can say anything, Buhari can say anything, OBJ can say anything, Amaechi can say anything ...... Its called freedom of speech courtesy of amiable GEJ. |
Dele is just a belle hustler ...... nothing more. |
Larow:Oga, go and modify the constitution. Until then... Buhari show your certificate. |
Nigerians are illiterates. How much is refined fuel in the international market where importers buy? What did they do when the attempt to deregulate the downstream sector was made through subsidy removal? Which Investor will invest in refinery when subsidy is paid to importers? Simply put..... you cant eat your cake and have it. |
Ok |
Hahahahahahaha APC are made up of clowns. |
GoodMuyis:Tell me in clear terms how Jonathan disappointed. I am ready to take you on. Be crisp with your submission and dont sound like an illiterate. Am waiting! !!! |
dre11:You are just one of the illiterates. |
olujegs:Am sorry that is no proof. What you just stated is a proof of bare corruption How an illiterate without school cert found his way to the rank of a general in the army is the height of impunity. Change has come and Buhari has just been exposed |
wonlasewonimi:GEJ has performed more than any president we've ever had. I wont repeat myself. .... evidence abound in all sectors. Staying blind to it is your own business. |
dre11:Lots Nigerians are illiterates. We condemn our best heads for useless reasons. We are very short sighted refusing to see beyond our noses. We only view the world from our selfish lenses. Just because its not perfect does not mean we are not on the right path. We are only interested in short term benefits. The world over keep appreciating the technocrats we have in this government and yet Nigerians condemn them. They seem to understand our progress better than us. They understand their key policies and its impacts on us better than us. More than ever the future of Nigeria is so bright ..... every process takes time. The rot of many years cannot just be wished away, it takes time to be worked. Agriculture is the future of Nigeria and not oil.... this govt understands that and has worked it The automobile industry is the future of manufacturing in Nigeria. ... this is being worked The power sector is not business as usual. It is on the path of self improvement in the hands of the private sector. Constant power will take funds, equipment and time but more than ever... its within sight The gas gathering project in Delta is a huge boost for the power sector and other sectors Oil and gas downstream deregulation is the next big thing with massive potential for revenue, employment etc. Dangote's refinery is coming up speedily. ... other investors will come in at the removal of subsidy Our elections are now free and fair.... power belongs again to the people courtesy of this govt Roads are better, Railways are back to ease the heavy load impact on our roads Foreign direct investment is at its alltime high despite our local challenges Security issues are a current distraction will we will overcome. But we should not lose sight of where we are headed. With the current policies in place..... Nigeria is the next big thing. The whole world sees it except Nigerians. Corruption is being fought systematically by restructuring systems... fertiliser scam, unfair election, ghost workers in public service, rule of law. These might not be the way we expected it fought but this is one way to ensure the gains are permanent. More needs to be done. It's time Nigerians stop complaining and play issues based politics. The people who call this government clueless are actually the clueless ones. The plans are very clear and visible. |
zubby29:Prove Buhari have school cert or shut up |
This Lie/ propaganda has been bursted and dealt with. Buhari's daughter is not married to any Ibo man. https://www.nairaland.com/1983506/many-lies-buhari-apc-supporters |
zubby29:You are one embarrassing yourself. It takes less effort to provide the certificate than the lengthy propaganda. The truth of the matter is that Sultan of sokoto gave IBB and Buhari the written letters with which they joined the army. Buhari and IBB has no school certificate. .. kapish!! He grew in the army courtesy of the corrupt quota system and not merit nor certificate. Buhari is not only a terrorist. ... he is a very corrupt tribalist. |
Please have we found Buhari's certificate? |
When will he defend Buhari's certificate? |
oziegbe2015:Lol...... long epistle. Your illiterate terrorist has no certificate. Army is neither in possession of his original certs. Where are the originals? Why didn't the affidavit say anything about the originals? Buhari is a stark illiterate. When the time is ripe, we shall know if its required or not. |
mrmetoo1:Clearly required by INEC . Verification is scheduled for Jan 16 to 18. PDP cares less about the cert at the moment. It is APC's loss to leave it unsorted cos it's an ammunition in PDP 's hands |
