With the availability of increased market for farmers (the free food initiative), the government only has to increase the ceiling for the farm loans from bank, that willing settle your 'increased food production' as some farmers would use their initiatives to further extend their tentacles abroad through efficient usage of their facilities by acting locally and going globally (ethnocentrism). There will be increased multiplier effect in the agricultural industry, and by just merely giving school children free food, the agric sector could be utilised and bring out its maximum output.

The way you lot turn economics on its head just because you are trying to prove a point. Feeding school kids is not the priority for christ's sake. Some key sectors are itching for funds aimed at national growth.

Free food, free fuel, free dollar, free allocation is the sole reason for the mediocrity and lack of productivity we have in this country.

With the crashing price of crude in the global market, it is simple economics that our revenue has significantly dropped and worth of Naira has been greatly impacted. Devaluation became inevitable. Even before the devaluation, The Naira was still being subsidized in the FOREX market at 150 naira per dollar. It was obvious that further buffering of the declining worth of the naira cannot be sustained in an era of reduced revenue. As such it was devalued to 168naira per dollar. At current rate... naira is still being buffered. If naira is left to true market forces... it could easily be 200 naira per dollar.
Some of us are agitating for government to quit buffering the naira for major economic prospects but that is another dimension entirely.
