lafex: My fellow nairalanders, am an ABU alumnus and I can categorically tell you that I suspect the OP to be an abusite because his signature 'no time to check time' is a slang that is mostly used by ABUSITES. the 'slang' is used everywhere in Nigeria; you probably need to travel far and wide. How can you say the 'slang' is exclusive of abusites? Your reasoning is appalling. |

Its a good thing you sought help. You knew something was wrong even when he hasn't grown big. The mistake parents make is to start seeking solution when children are all adults when the damage has been done already. They now blame the village witches for drawing a line them and the children. |

Junior66: I have never heard any of my people bear Jemigbola as a name before. However, if pronounced to sound like Igala the name means 'allow me hear word' in pidgin english. Cant find a better way to put it in english. Anybody Igala may bear that name but i must confess, that name is not popular and even after living most of my life in Igala land i have never heard that name before. I guess i am late to this thread. intelligent summit. Jemigbola in yoruba would mean: 'allow me carry/have wealth'. |

this is a call to northerners to support girl child education and stop marrying them away at young ages. education is a must and once this is supported, boko haram wouldn't succeed in wooing supporters easily. she is not a 'northerner'. |

A school where a second class upper graduate is celebrated like a first class graduate. imagine She couldn't Make a first class in Uniabuja but She clinched all the prizes al law school. I respect that school . Uniabuja is a useless school. Bribery and corruption is the order of the day. And no, I never contemplated choosing it. |

Radoillo: And he took his mother's maiden name as his surname? Where in Nigeria does that happen?
You probably also think Adejo/Adejoh is not an Igala name because it looks Yoruba. Your latter assumption is out of place. |
Culture › Re: Igala Language In Anambra State. by flightz(f): 4:47am On Nov 04, 2015 |
Radoillo: Igala is a Yoruboid language, so expect to see a few Igala names that look Yoruba. The Catholic priest he is talking about is probably Fr Hyacinth Jemigbola, an Anambra Igala from Igbedor, in Anambra West, LGA. I would do my research.. Jemigbola doesn't sound anything close to Igala.. If anything, igala names sound Igboish.. He Probably have a yoruba mother. |

adeitoro: but that is what he spoke to Mr John in their conversation. Personally, I know Igalas don't speak Igbo, even I do listen to there programs in ABS radio2 Onitsha. I even know a Catholic priest from Anambra Igala thats speaks Igbo fluently, you can only know that he is not Igbo from his surname "Jemigbola" Just that what he wrote in their conversation is Igbo unless the tone varies, then it is not Igbo. Jemigbola is a Yoruba name, not Igala.. Nice thread, I hope the south west people can see this and learn somethings cos to them, we have only 3tribes in Nigeria.. South west people are so tribalistic and resistant to getting informed.. To them, the world starts and ends in Lagos and Ibadan.. |

If he had not been busy he would have responded to the text without calling me to help out and we all know what the possible outcome could be. |
