I wasn't particular about the manufacturer of the oil. I only advised he used the recommended oil, even Mobil 1 has 0w20, 0w40, 5w20 and so on. I have personally been using 5w20 oils for over 6 years without ever using Mobil 1. So, you see its about the required oil and not the manufacturer...

I'll suggest you service as once every year, i. e. 12 months interval if you are not able to cover the recommended milage within that time. Please, don't just use Mobil 1, use the recommended oil for your car alongside OEM filters like FRAM, DENSO, etc...
Car Talk / Re: Changing Oil Filter And Fuel Filter At Same Time by FlyboyZee: 3:26pm On May 28, 2017
FlyboyZee:

I service my car once every year or at 10,000km using full synthetic 5w20 engine oil and Denso OEM oil filter. I follow the instructions from the service manual strictly to arrive at this. I only change oil filter after the second oil change, i. e. at 20,000km. The car is a 2010 Honda Civic...

I wonder where you guys got this your 3,000km or monthly/bimonthly service interval idea from?
Moreover, I don't even use odometer readings to gauge my service intervals since the car has a countdown system which starts reading from 100% down to 0%, with a warning coming on from 15% for you to get ready for servicing or to service as at when due. After which, you reset the maintenance/service reminder back to 100% and the countdown starts all over again. But, I have noticed that it is usually around the 10,000km mark when it gets towards 0%.

OP, if your car was bought mint in 2015 as you claimed...
why are you servicing at 3,000km?
What oil and filter are you using?
Doesn't your car have a maintenance required reminder system?

Some people sef
Did you answer his/her question too, Mr. Jury and Judge?

If he had read his service manual and kept to its instructions, he would have known that he/she has no business changing fuel filter for a 2015 model year car. The OP would have also known that Toyota did not instruct that the car be serviced every 3,000km. And you too, would not be here acting jury, abi na examiner sef on top my head.

You are the cause of your dilemma. Next time, READ! READ!! READ!!! your owner's manual. It was put in there to help you solve issues like this, without being fleeced.

If you bought the car brand new like you stated up there, then sorry to say, you have been fooling yourself all this while...

The manual combined with symbols or codes displayed on the instrument cluster will instruct you on what to do exactly. So you don't need no mecho telling you otherwise...

My advice for you is: READ! READ!! & READ!!!

Nobody talked about threatening you and no one is even interested in threatening you. All I said is that from Yenezue Gene through Biogbolo down to Opolo, along the Mbiama-Yenagoa road, shops were on a lockdown on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Even if you have no business going to the affected areas, word should have gotten to you now about the situation...

By the way, Igbos constitute almost 40% of the population of Yenagoa and everybody is cool with each other here. Yoruba people have started with their mischief again. Divide and rule specialists....
I am not sure you are in Yenagoa. The whole of Yenezue Gene, Biogbolo and Opolo, along Melford Okilo (Mbiama-Yenagoa) road were on a lockdown yesterday. If you are in Yenagoa like you claimed, I guess you are a Surveyor attending the Surveyors National Conference currently ongoing in Yenagoa now. If you have the chance, please, take a drive right now to the area I mentioned and see for yourself first hand if that stretch of the town is not on a lock down. I mean now...

Lies! Lies!! Lies!!!

Tochukwu took his landlord's 17 years old daughter to a very lowly guest house called Waibo Guest House in the same Biogbolo area where they all live. The girl is an indigene of the same Biogbolo Community in Yenagoa Metropolis. He sedated her, cut off her breast and she gained consciousness at that point and raised alarm while he was still at it and he stabbed her to silence her and then took off before people could come to the scene. And he has been on the run since then. The indigent youths of the Biogbolo and adjoining Yenezue Gene communities were piffed and miffed by the development and became irate, insisting that the Igbo community in Yenagoa must produce the said Tochukwu. That was what warranted the attacks on the Igbos and not the lies you posted...

Car Talk / Re: Now That I Have Bought A Honda Pilot Toks, What Next? by FlyboyZee: 10:35am On May 09, 2017
TKH:
Good day to you all.

Thanks to all those who contributed to my decision to buy a Honda Pilot. I am informed that it's a 2005 model because the tag reads 08/04, which is the beginning of the new manufacturing year. Is that correct?.

Anyway, this is my first Toks, my previous two buys (a Baby Boy and EOD) having been Nigerian-used. I would therefore greatly appreciate your advice on the appropriate steps to follow. I mean regarding things like the appropriate engine oil, transmission fluid, power steering fluid, break fluids, and plugs, and whether I should change the present ones. I had expected to change the tires also, but the ones that the vehicle comes with appear strong.

I look forward to hearing from you. Thanks once again.

Go and buy Samsung phone of 30k whether you will find up to 1GB RAM in it Samsung Duos is 728 MB ram sold at 25k
Even with the low specs, I'm a 100% sure that the Samsung would outperform the Techno, with all its plenty numbers.

The Samsung would be better in:
* Voice clarity
* Better user-friendly autocorrect
* more eye-friendly screen
* quick UI loading and faster browsing speed,
* better battery life,
* etc...

I wonder how these Chinkos generate all these high numbers in the name of specs, without corresponding output to match these numbers...

Thank God this topic was bought up because i have a question I would like to ask;
When does a car need to have an oil change.?
if my manual says change every 5,000miles
does it necessarily mean when i have driven about 5,000miles from when bought then it deserves to be changed?

what if I drove for a year, very seldom and I never drove a total of 5,000miles, will it be safe to say there is no need to change my oil as the interval set by the manufacturer which is 5,000miles hasn't yet been reached
If the car manufacturer says 5,000 miles, it means 5,000 miles from the last time you changed the oil.

Most manufacturers give an option of either milage or time and with a condition that which ever comes first. For instance, Toyota advised oil change at 10,000km for its 2010 Prado or at 1 year intervals, whichever comes first. That is to say that if you cover 10,000km before 1 year's time, then change oil. If on the other hand, its been a year since your last oil change and you are yet to clock an interval of 10,000km, then change oil. I.e., if you get to the milage before the time for your next servicing, change oil. Or, if you get to your next servicing time before, clocking the milage, change oil and start counting again from the time you change the oil. QED...

I doubt this too. A Nigerian mechanic would most likely convince you to buy a problem car if he is entitled to a a juicy commission from its sale. Otherwise, they prefer you buy cars they are familiar with, that's why Toyota (Japanese cars) full everywhere.
Sorry! I beg to disagree with you on this one. For all it's reliability ratings, it would surprise you that it is still Toyotas that are mostly found in repair garages around the country. Our mechanics (Kazeems, apologies to @Gazzuz) know very well that there are certain parts that fail easily in Toyotas and as such you will keep coming to them for regular repairs, so they advise you to buy a Toyota since its something they can handle and keep them going by your regular patronage.

In the recent past, they will even advise you against buying a brand new Ford, Kia, Hyundai, Peugeot, etc but would rather ferociously advise that you buy a used Toyota, which is overpriced, disadvantaged in fuel economy in its segment with generally low performance and bad handling over the others...
